Note: <888> 01/31/09 Saturday 8:05 P.M.. I made and ate my usual linguine and tomato meat sauce dinner with grated parmesan and Romano cheese, and I refrigerated half, and I ate it with a glass of watered down passion punch. I chatted with a friend. CIO

Note: <888> 01/31/09 Saturday 5:55 P.M.. I woke up at 11:30 A.M. this morning. For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda. I washed the breakfast dishes. I made my bed. I chatted with a relative. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went out, and I went by the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop, and I donated the brown wicker rack. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I chatted with some local people. I used the men's room on the ground floor of the Senior and the Arts center, which is probably about the warmest room in town. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and they do not carry electric shaver cords. I thought I might use one to fix my 1954 Zenith shortwave radio. When I have time, I can still test it with eight D batteries, which I think I have. I stopped by CVS, and I bought two 12 packs of Thomas' English muffins for $1.99 each 12 pack for $3.98 total. I weighed myself before showering, and I now weigh about 208 pounds, so I have lost about 10 pounds this winter so far. I finished my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I was given a January 2008 National Geographic on "Indonesia's Ring of Fire Volcano Gods". During my walk, I stopped by the TD bank, and I was told their IBM computers come from a warehouse in New Jersey like everything else. They gave me a TD ball point pen. After my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and there were no sea gulls around, so possibly they are off flying on a nice day. I next went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with some of the staff and local patrons. I then returned home.
I picked up the mail. The 2.5" Black Aluminum Enclosure Case with IDE to USB 2.0 Interface by SABRENT for $6.99 and a $1.05 off with a coupon code that I can not remember for $5.94 total with free shipping arrived. I left it on the Lazy Susan to have available once the Seagate IDE 2.5 inch 80 gigabyte hard drive arrives. CIO
Note: <888> 01/30/09 Friday 11:15 P.M.. I baked and ate 12 ounce box of America's Choice fish sticks which I put mixture of ketchup and horse radish on along with my usual vegetable mixture with olive oil on it. I ate it all with a glass of watered down passion punch. I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will take a nap.
Note: <888> 01/30/09 Friday 10:15 P.M.. When I get the Seagate 2.5 inch PATA hard drive, I can temporarily put it in the 2.5" Black Aluminum Enclosure Case with IDE to USB 2.0 Interface by SABRENT once I receive it, and I can partition it with XP on the primary Dell laptop computer, and then I can use Seagate Technology - DiscWizard to clone the old hard drive on to the new hard drive, and then transfer the hard drives. I just put DiscWizard on the primary Dell laptop to have it ready to clone. CIO
Note: <888> 01/30/09 Friday 9:10 P.M.. Yesterday morning, I woke up and I ate about a dozen Danish cookies. This morning, I woke up, and I ate about 10 Danish cookies. I finally woke up at 3:30 P.M. this afternoon. I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature. We have a new garbage service "City Carting". However, all of the recycle containers say "Cans and Bottles", and there are none designated for waste paper and newspapers. I chatted with a neighbor. No mail was received today. I watered the plants.
For the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop computer, I bought a 80GB 2.5" Seagate LD25.2 5400RPM ATA Hard Drive with 2MB Cache - New with 5 Year Seagate Warranty. (SEAST980210ALD) http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Seagate/ST980210ALD/ for $39.99 and $4.99 UPS ground shipping for $44.98 total. I will move the IBM 10 gigabyte ide 2.5 inch hard drive from the primary Dell laptop to the second Dell laptop. I will put the 4.8 gigabyte hard drive from the second Dell laptop in the Toshiba laptop, which has a defective hard drive. Once the new hard drive is in the primary Dell laptop, I can restore the backup from the Maxtor external hard drive to configure it. I installed the Vista updates on the primary Vista computer and the FIC server. I am backing up the changes on the primary Dell laptop to the Maxtor external hard drive, and then I will do the same for the second Dell laptop. I ate a 1/5th piece of blueberry pie with a glass of watered down passion punch.

Note: <888> 01/30/09 Friday 4:20 A.M.. I followed the instructions in the Dell Latitude CS service manual to remove the cover. I removed the two green bread tabs that I had slid in. I examined the DC Power Jack, and it seemed to be firmly soldered to the motherboard. However, without the battery, the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop would still lose its power if the cord was moved when not plugged into the docking station, but with AC adapter plugged directly in it. I used my large magnifying glass and a lantern, and I examined the inside of the DC Power Jack, and I noticed at the rear end of the DC Power Jack, there was a small piece of green plastic or some other substance. I was able to remove the piece that was about 3/32nds inch wide and about 5/16th of an inch long, and the power on the primary Dell Latitude CS computer continued to stay on, even when I moved the cord in various directions. I looked more closely, and I found another smaller piece inside. I reassembled the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop computer, and now hopefully if one wants to use it with the AC adapter without the docking station, there should be no more problems. I still would not recommend putting too much pressure on the DC Power Jack by moving it with the cord attached. The DC Power Jack seems to be soldered on the motherboard, so I would have to remove the mother board and try to unsolder and solder in the replacement part, which would be much too risky unless dire circumstances called for it. Thus all systems seem go.
For the second Dell laptop, I could use these Dell Latitude CS R LCD Hinge Cover for $8.86, but it is only a cosmetic feature, so I can live without them, and the minimal shipping would be $17.55 from the Netherlands, so it is unlikely I will be buying them.
This is the CMOS battery they use DELL LATITUDE CS CMOS BATTERY (7.2V, 15MAH) P/N:8278P - eBay (item 150239935552 end time Feb-17-09 13:55:22 PST), if I ever need it.
These are what I was looking for 3550P - Right Hinge Cap and 4550P - Left Hinge Cap , but they are not really necessary. On the second Dell laptop, the left one is missing, and the right one is broken. CIO
Note: <888> 01/30/09 Friday 12:45 A.M.. I bought this item DC Power Jack Dell LATITUDE CPx CPxH CPxJ CS CSR CSX - eBay (item 300268251805 end time Feb-19-09 20:06:42 PST) for $4.99 with free shipping. I think if I ever need to use it on the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop computer, it would need to be soldered in, so I probably will not take the chance to replace it, unless I absolutely need to replace it. They seem to have the Dell Latitude Reserve batteries here if I ever need one. I use the one with five small batteries eBay Seller: meditechny: Computers Networking items on eBay.com CIO
Note: <888> 01/29/09 Thursday 10:45 P.M.. Yesterday, I put a new blue toilet tank tablet in the toilet tank. I went out after the last note. I went to my regular Thursday 3 P.M. appointment. I do not have another Thursday 3 P.M. appointment until March 2009. I next went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. They have about a dozen used LCD monitors for sale from the Greenwich Hospital. The Compaq LCD monitors are $45 and the EIZO LCD monitors are $25. I chatted with the staff trying to cheer them up on another usual slow business day. I suggest that all of the inexpensive glass ware on the two shelves on the east wall would fall off the shelf in an earthquake, or possibly if they put too much weight on the shelves, they would collapse. People frequently keep piling up items somewhere, and sooner or later the additional weight causes the shelf to collapse. I also chatted with a neighbor from Kennebunkport, Maine. I next went downtown, and I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center. I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played a Fast $50's scratch card for a dollar, but I lost. I walked the whole length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. There were not many people out but younger unemployed fathers with younger children. I guess they have working mothers. I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store. I told them about seeing an Austrian stove in the movie "The Third Man", and I mentioned that I had seen them in the rooms of the Maria Teresa Palace in Innsbruck, Austria, and the looked to be very energy efficient. They are ceramic stoves about 4 to 5 feet in diameter the height of the room with curves and with decorative accents. I am not sure what they burned in them or how they exhausted them, but they look like they would put out a lot of warmth. I went by CVS, and I saw an older acquaintance with what looked to be his younger sister, so I guess families are now car pooling to save on gasoline. I finished my walk, and I sat out briefly. I noticed during my walk that TD Bank is using new IBM Personal Computers, so they must still make them new somewhere in the world like Canada. I stopped by the Greenwich Library, and I read PC Magazine. There seemed to be quite a few people enjoying the warmth in the library. One regular patron whom is older than me, said he wished that he was younger again. I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf Station, and I bought $4 of self service premium gasoline at $2.359 a gallon for 1.694 gallons for 14.1 miles driving since last Thursday at odometer reading of 62131 miles for 8.32349 miles per gallon driving this past week. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a day old blue berry pie for $3.50, a loaf of Nature's Promise multigrain bread for $2.50, and broccoli crowns for $1.79 a pound for $1.22 for $7.22 total. I then returned home. I picked up the mail. The order for two PQI 1GB 60X Secure Digital SD Card, Model AE21-1030-0101 for $5.99 each with free shipping for $11.98 total arrived. I put them unopened on the right hallway bookcase shelf with the camera case with the cameras. I chatted with a relative. I made and ate the same dinner as last night. I ate a 1/5th piece of blueberry pie too. Not much happening on this side of Greenwitch, Connecticut. CIO
Note: <888> 01/29/09 Thursday 2:15 P.M.. I installed www.juno.com free program good for 10 hours a month of both Dell Latitude CS laptop computers, and I configured it. In a power outage which does happen occasionally, the electricity and cable modem might not work, but frequently the Verizon telephone line works. I have battery power for the Dell laptops, and since with my Verizon package I have free adjacent community dialing, there are about a dozen local free Juno dialup numbers in Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Stamford, Armonk, and Port Chester. However, I only have the one Xircom telephone modem card. I ate a ham and cheese sandwich with 1/3rd of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with some watered down passion punch. I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will get ready to go to my 3 P.M. appointment. CIO
Note: <888> 01/29/09 Thursday 12:05 P.M.. I woke up at 8 A.M.. I chatted with a relative and a friend. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went outside, and I cleaned the snow off my Audi, and I helped clean the snow off a neighbor's car. I put two new AA alkaline batteries in the community room television remote control. I walked around the building, and the building custodian is putting ice removal pellets on the sidewalk, but it is still very slippery. I put the Xircom LAN and telephone modem card in the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop computer, and I will now install www.juno.com free dialup on it, so I can use it in case, I lose power to the primary systems. I have a 3 P.M. appointment this afternoon. CIO

I took the keyboard out of the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop, and I put it in the second Dell Latitude CS laptop. I put the new keyboard in the primary Dell Latitude CS laptop with docking station.
I moved the Netgear WG511T wireless card from the primary Dell laptop, and I installed it on the second Dell laptop.
I installed the Netgear WN511B wireless card on the primary Dell laptop.
I installed the two Netgear FA511 cards on each of the Dell laptops.
I have the primary Dell laptop in its docking station, so I left both of its cards on the right side in bubble wrap packages to have available for remote use. The laptop cards are plug and play.
I left the second Dell laptop wireless card in a bubble wrap package behind it to have available for wireless use, and the new FA511 LAN card is left in it for apartment use, since it does not have a docking station. I also took the USB mouse off of it, and I put a Dell PS/2 mouse on it. I disabled the D-Link USB Hub LAN, since it is not needed. Thus both Dell Latitude CS laptops or ready for use in the apartment or at remote locations.

I went downstairs, and I chatted with the building custodian who had a rough day. It is now raining out heavily melting the snow, but it could turn to ice tonight and tomorrow morning. CIO
Note: <888> 01/28/09 Wednesday 12:25 P.M.. I woke up at 9 A.M.. I took down the two artificial wreaths off the front door, and I hung the octagon mirror on the front side of the front door with a 40 pound OOK hook. I still have to get rid on the brown wicker rack. I went downstairs, and I chatted with neighbors. There is about four inches of snow on the Audi. I took down the inexpensive octagon mirror from that location. I guess I will donate the octagon mirror and the brown wicker rack to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, since I have no place to hang them. CIO
Note: <888> 01/28/09 Wednesday 12:35 A.M.. I took the CDs out of the CD rack in front of the Sony TV stand, and I moved them inside of the Sony TV stand with two metal book ends on either shelf holding them upright. I moved the ink cartridges and ink refill kit from the brown wicker rack to the left of the primary Vista computer, and I put them in the second drawer of the mahogany bureau in the bedroom. I moved the two brass candle stick holders with crystal shades to on top of the book cases above the Sony TV. I removed the brown wicker rack from the wall, and I move over the French print to its place. I used the CD rack along with the CD rack from underneath the Samsung color laser printer to raise up the Brother all purpose machine about 10 inches, so it is now easier to service it. I put a collapsed breakfast tray underneath the Samsung color laser printer. When I put the Scott speakers on top of the left bookcase above the Sony television, I removed the print of Stowe, Vermont, and I moved it to behind the bedroom door for safe keeping, until I can figure out somewhere to hang it, or I can give it to a friend who spends a lot of time in Stowe, Vermont. Thus it all looks a little bit neater, and the black glass doors on the Sony TV cabinet now show neatly. I moved the Zenith short wave radio that needs to be tested to on top of the right book case above the stereo system. I chatted with a friend earlier. CIO
Note: <888> 01/27/09 Tuesday 10:20 P.M.. I chatted with a friend last night around midnight. I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.
I bought a 2.5" Black Aluminum Enclosure Case with IDE to USB 2.0 Interface by SABRENT for $6.99 and a $1.05 off with a coupon code that I can not remember for $5.94 total with free shipping. It is only good for 2.5 inch IDE hard drives, but it might come in handy some time.
I installed the windows updates on my three laptop computers. I moved the D-Link USB hub from the Toshiba laptop to the second Dell laptop. I ate lunch of hot dogs with buns with ketchup and mustard and watered down passion punch. I changed my clothes to go out.
I went by the new Chase Bank just west of Greenwich Avenue on West Putnam Avenue. Since it is hard to turn left there when coming from the west, I drove over by Valley Road by the Greenwich Hospital and then down Lafayette Place to Greenwich Avenue and west a half block to the new Chase Bank. There is a driveway behind them by the brick apartment building, and one possibly could drive down that driveway east and exit out Pickwick Plaza where there is a traffic light, but I am not sure which way the driveway runs. I used the ATM machine and I viewed the new bank. They gave me a corn muffin for a treat. I then went downtown, and I sat out for a while at the Senior and the Arts Center. I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment. I chatted with a relative on my wireless phone while waiting. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. I bought a white soup bowl with Burgundy rim for a dollar and a two deck of new cards from the Shore Line with Sand Piper decoys on them for $2. I also bought a heavy duty Sony television stand trapezoid shape about 20 inch high and very sturdy for $20 for $23 total. I used my folding cart to put the Sony TV stand in the back seat of the Audi. I then went by the Stop and Shop. Apparently the premium Oscar Meyer hot dogs were not on sale last week, so I did not get a refund on the second pack I bought last Thursday. I bought a Manager's Special top sirloin steak for $4.99 a pound for $7.73, a 8 pack of Arnold Bakery larger size hot dog buns for $3.19, six packages of Ronzoni thin linguine for .50 each box, and Chiquita bananas for .64 a pound for $1.77 for $15.69 total. I then returned home. I used my folding cart to bring up my purchases and the Sony TV stand and the mail. It took about two hours. I cleared the area in front of my 27 inch Sony television, and I put the Sony TV Stand on the TV chest. I then put the solid wooden tool box on top of the TV stand, and I slid the Sony television off the pair of Scott speakers onto the Sony TV stand. I moved the pair of Scott speakers to on top of the left bookcase. I cleaned the TV area while doing this. I moved the Sony TV with Sony TV stand into position, and it is still about the same height for easy viewing around the living room, but it is on a much more sturdy platform now. I did not put anything in the cabinet inside the Sony TV stand, but I put the CD rack with CDs in front of it. I rearranged some of the Bric-A-Brac, so the TV area is neater looking. I tried testing the old Zenith Shore Wave radio, and it came on briefly and went out. Possibly it has a faulty cord. I will test it with batteries when I have time. I put the folding cart in the Audi, and I threw out four old telephone books. I moved the Audi to its usual place. I chatted with a relative. I reheated and ate the last of the defrosted beef stew and turkey Kraft stove top stuffing, which I ate with watered down passion punch. I am not sure if the soup bowl is microwave proof or not. I put the double deck of playing cards on the Panasonic television by the French reproduction chair. CIO

I read in a computer magazine today that the Union Pacific railroad that George Cary's relatives are still involved in, is still making money, and they plan to spend $3.5 billion a year to improved their system including laying 350 miles of track in the southwest to make it double track. It apparently costs $2 million a mile to lay track. That is probably if they do not have to build bridges or tunnels.
I was told that Tony Blair is now teaching at www.yale.edu to help make ends meet. CIO
Note: <888> 01/26/09 Monday 1:40 P.M.. Today, would be my father Louis Dale Scott's 89th birthday, but alas he passed away 19 years ago from the effects of Parkinson Syndrome after a very difficult corporate career. I woke up at 6:30 A.M. this morning. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with neighbors. I chatted with a relative. I read the recent computer periodical literature. I ate a noon time meal of half of the remaining beef stew reheated and 1/3rd of a 6 ounce box of Kraft turkey stove top stuffing along with a glass of watered down passion punch. I made up a fresh batch of passion punch. I saw Bill Gates on www.foxnews.com trying fund raise for his foundation. Apparently the value of his foundation is down 20%. I guess he will have to pull in his purse strings. I threw out the garbage and the old periodical computer literature. I observed the outside world. I chatted with the building custodian who does a most excellent job. Windows 7 beta is suppose to work with touch screen LCD monitors, so it might work in a bar or restaurant cash register system. A touch screen LCD monitor would be too cumbersome to use with regular computer work. CIO
Note: <888> 01/25/09 Sunday 9:05 P.M.. I ate two hot dogs on buns with mustard and ketchup and watered down passion punch. I went downstairs, and I chatted with a neighbor. I chatted with a friend. Note: <888> 01/25/09 Sunday 2:40 P.M.. When I ate the reheated beef stew part of the molar on my lower right rear that needs a crown broke off. About 1/5th of it broke off, but it is not painful. Note: <888> 01/25/09 Sunday 2:20 P.M.. I went downstairs, and chatted with neighbors. The community room is being rented by neighbors until 9 P.M. today. I ate some more of the beef stew with watered down passion punch and a cup of coffee with splenda and milk. I fiddled with some of the other features of my Nokia AT&T Go phone. I setup my hotmail account at it. I never use it, but
my Hotmail email account is mailto:mmikescott@hotmail.com . I download the Elvis Ring Tone "Suspicious Minds" twice, and I saved it to the Ring Tone file for answering the phone and for Instant messaging ring tone. That cost the Go Phone account $2.95 for each of the two downloads for $5.90 total. I now have a little bit over $66 left on the Go Phone.

I finished configuring the second Dell Latitude CS computer, and it works just fine. I am now backing it up to the Maxtor external hard drive. I also cleaned it with glass cleaner. I chatted with a relative earlier today. I threw out the garbage, and I went downstairs twice. I chatted with neighbors, and I picked up the mail. Note: <888> 01/24/09 Saturday 12:55 A.M.. SP2 is just about done. Good Night. CIO
Note: <888> 01/24/09 Saturday 12:50 A.M.. I could not get Ubuntu to go online with the second Dell laptop, so I did a quick low level format, and then I started installing an extra copy of XP Home that I had. I am now installing the Windows Updates. About a dozen keys do not work on the laptop, but it works fine with the extra keyboard plugged into it. I plugged a generic USB mouse into it. I also updated its bios. I ate two 6 ounce cups of berry yogurt. I also ate two hotdogs with buns and ketchup and mustard and watered down passion punch. As soon as I finish installing SP2, I will shut down the systems for the night, and I will go to bed. It has been an exhausting day. CIO
Note: <888> 01/23/09 Friday 5:45 P.M.. I connected the second Dell laptop power supply to the Abit computer power strip, so that power strip has to be turned on to the second Dell laptop to work. I put the external floppy drive and the external CD drive and their connector cable on top of the JVC videotape player in the bedroom. I will hook it up with a Microsoft wheel mouse and mouse pad too. CIO
Note: <888> 01/23/09 Friday 5:35 P.M.. The beef stew came out the best that I have ever made. It took about 3.5 hours to make and clean up after making it. I sautéed in a 6 quart Revere pot, the beef, chopped onions, and chopped garlic in olive oil and margarine with ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. I then added the 14.5 ounce can of chicken broth and a quarter cup of white wine along with the other seasonings like I have done in the past, and I simmered the beef mixture for about one hour and fifteen minutes before adding the vegetables and a stick of butter, which I simmered another 45 minutes. I made about eight 2 cup servings. I ate one serving with watered down passion punch, and I froze three servings, and I refrigerated four servings. I then threw out the garbage, and I picked up the mail. I chatted with neighbors. Earlier, I chatted with a relative twice.
UPS delivered this for $11 and $10 shipping for $21 total to have the extra parts that I can use and the second Dell Latitude CS laptop computer Dell Pentium II Latitude CS - eBay (item 120362799026 end time Jan-19-09 15:35:55 PST) . All of the parts seem to work fine, except some of the keys do not work on the Dell laptop keyboard, so I am using a spare Dell laptop keyboard attached to it. Its LAN card also has telephone jacks. It has a 4.8 gigabyte hard drive and 256 megs of memory. I did a low level format on it. I then installed the latest version of Ubuntu on it. I am now installing the updates. I clear the remaining spot on the oak dining table beside the spot where I eat. That spot is opposite the small computer table. I will set up the second Dell laptop there with the Dell keyboard for now. CIO
Note: <888> 01/23/09 Friday 10:35 A.M.. I will brought in the Crystal Rock water for a neighbor. The tile men are here to do the apartment across from the mail room. I will now make the beef stew now. Basically one cuts the rump roast into .75 inch cubes, and then dice the vegetables into cubes and smaller parts, and then one browns the beef cubes in the large pot with diced onions and garlic and olive oil, and then one adds a 14.5 can of chicken or beef broth and then a quarter cup of wine, and the other herbs and seasoning, and then one brings it to a boil and adds the vegetables and lets one simmer it for about 1.5 hours. If I have room, I will try to freeze half of it. I will now shut down the primary Vista computer and get to work cooking. CIO
Note: <888> 01/23/09 Friday 9:50 A.M.. I had a spare 3 port D-link USB 1.0 powered hub, so I put a second power strip on the primary power strip of the Toshiba laptop by the French reproduction chair, and I plugged the Toshiba laptop and the powered hub into it, so the Toshiba laptop now has a powered hub, and both the Toshiba laptop and hub can be turned off by the power strip, so they do not run all of the time. Of course the second Dell Latitude CS will be in that location, when I get it. I received email two days ago that it was mailed from New York, New York, where ever that is in New York. I will now watered the plants, and then throw out the garbage and the waste paper. CIO

I ate a baloney, ham, and cheese sandwich with 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips, and a dill pickle slice, and a glass of watered down passion punch. I chatted with a friend about the price of tea in China. I chatted with someone that speaks English. I showered, and I cleaned up. I picked up the mail. The NEW DELL CS BATTERY 04915U SEALED IN BAG - eBay (item 200298385423 end time Jan-17-09 19:53:37 PST) for $45 and $4.80 shipping for $49.80 total arrived. I put it in the Dell Latitude CS laptop, and I set it to show the battery icon on the tray bar. When I returned home five hours later it was fully charged. It is a new Dell 8012 battery made by Sanyo, so it should be a top quality battery. I went out, and I went to my regular 3 P.M. appointment. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought four 4 inch silk lamp shades for a dollar each for $4 total. I ran into a college classmate that I had not seen in a while. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center before and after the walk. I toured CVS, but there was nothing that I needed to buy. I walked over to the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and I used the ATM machine there. They will be opening their new office at the old Harvey Electronics building just west of Greenwich Avenue on January 26, 2009, so the Mason street branch will be closing soon. I do not know if they will be consolidating any of the other offices in the downtown area or not. After my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I figured since 600 Steamboat Road is now a British Government operation, I better keep a close eye on it. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I toured the facility. It seemed busier than normal with the local youth. I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf station, and I bought $4 of self service premium for $2.359 a gallon for 1.694 gallons at odometer reading of 62116 for 21.9 miles driving since Saturday January 10, 2009 at 12.92798 miles per gallon driving for the last two weeks. I checked the tires for 32 PSI. I lost one the valve caps while checking the tires, and Chris gave me three more, so I now have two spare ones. I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 10 ounce Guldens mustard for $1.50, two Oscar Meyer 16 ounce premium beef hotdogs for $4.39 each, but they were suppose to be buy one get one free, so I will have to get my money back on the second one, the next time I go downtown, and a bottom round rump roast for $2.29 a pound for $8.04, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, and Chiquita bananas for .64 a pound for $1.62 for $22.93 total. I will make up a beef stew tomorrow with the bottom round rump roast and vegetables that I have. I returned home. I chatted with a relative. I will now eat two hotdogs on buns with ketchup and mustard and a glass of watered down passion punch. CIO
Note: <888> 01/22/09 Thursday 9:00 A.M.. When one lives in a colder apartment, it helps to climb into a warm bed a little bit more often. CIO

Note: <888> 01/21/09 Wednesday 7:20 A.M.. If you want to see what the Indian Harbor Yacht club looks like without braving the cold weather, just look at this Indian Harbor Yacht Club. As I recall, the only two members of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club I ever knew as a kid, were Rocky Shepard who is president of King Features, and Oivind Lorentzen who is married to Norwegian royalty. My family were members of the Vanderbilt Country Club known as the Greenwich Country Club http://www.geocities.com/mike2scott2006/Greenwich-Country-Club.jpg which use to have a coal furnace from Holland, Michigan, so it tended to be warmer in the winter, if you like bowling. Note: <888> 01/21/09 Wednesday 5:55 A.M.. As I told the lady in Chase Bank on Mason Street that looked like Wallace Simpson, it does not matter what the price of www.ford.com stock is, since it is basically a private company with 40% owned by the family, 40% owned by the foundation, and 20% owned by the retirement fund. I also recommended that she invest in Platinum mining stocks based on Henry Jonker's advice, since he was able to move from Steamboat Road to Beach Road in Belle Haven, Connecticut after reading Barons and the Financial Times of London in the Greenwich Library before the internet made him a fortune. Of course he was from South Africa, so perhaps he left some money behind there when he left, which is no longer there anymore. I made a mistake about my older half sister whom I thought lived in Kenya. I was wrong, she lives in Tanzania Tanzania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia working as a medical professional. Of course a few years ago, she had a boy friend eaten by a Crocodile, so it is probably not safe to bother here. CIO
Note: <888> 01/21/09 Wednesday 5:40 A.M.. Note: <888> 01/21/09 Wednesday 5:25 A.M.. I made a couple of routine telephone calls to do with the price of tea in China. Not much seems to be going on here. Note: <888> 01/21/09 Wednesday 2:45 A.M.. Since RBS | The Royal Bank of Scotland | Personal, Private, Business & Corporate Banking is now 70% owned by the British Government, and since RBSGC is owned by them, their office they rent from Janus real estate in Manhattan at 600 Steamboat Road is now managed by the British Government. General Reinsurance sold the office building to Janus real estate recently for $200 or $300 million down from the asking price of $400 million. RBS is suppose to be moving all of their operations to their new 40 story building in Stamford, Connecticut, so once they move Janus real estate will probably have new tenants there across from the sewage plant. From my experience having lived on Steamboat Road for five years and having observed it for 25 years, from what I have been told by the local fishermen in the summer, most of the local fishermen down at the end of the road at the pier are either, Polish, Italian, or Russian mafia, and I think a lot of Irish mafia are seen around the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, so if there were any electronic eves dropping going on down there, more than likely one of the local mafia groups would be involved. It is interesting most of the hacking on my computers quit happening about the time people from Illinois were elected to office, and I used to have two daily users on my computer systems from Illinois that have not looked at it in a while. According to the www.fbi.gov , if I figure out whom it is, I can file an affidavit with the Connecticut attorney general, and then the FBI will investigate. My only recent solution has been to shut down the Cable Modem for a while to reset the IP address. It seems like they might have possibly put a key stroke logger on my computer, since when I am writing something sensitive, the computer seems to get frozen. Possibly they are monitoring my notes with a key stroke logger, and if they do not like what I write they freeze my computer. It would seem that after over 500 calls to the New Haven, Connecticut FBI, they would have looked into it, so more than likely the government is cahoots with the hackers. Having read the first third of James Bamford's book the Puzzle Palace, I know the National Security Agency has the means of monitoring all communications. Moreover, they would have assets, so if I could prove it was a government agency, I could sue them for my lost time and work and inconvenience they have caused me. It would seem to me that since more than likely the Unites States government would not waste their time hacking me, somebody that is doing something illegal around the waterfront here in Greenwich, Connecticut is trying to prevent me from reporting on the waterfront. Since eight years ago, somebody shot at me with a rifle while I was out bird watching at Tod's Point, I have ample reason to suspect illegal activity in this area.
I made and ate a three egg omelet with four 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch by .25 inch slices of Stop and Shop Vermont extra sharp cheddar cheese along with grated parmesan and Romano cheese on it. I also ate three fried strips of bacon with a toasted English muffin with margarine and watered down passion punch. I went outside, and I threw out the garbage, and I started up the Audi, and I moved it to its usual place, and I ran it for 10 minutes to warm it up a bit and charge it up a bit. It started up right away in 13 degree Fahrenheit weather with the new battery. I brought up the mail. The order for Flexible USB LED Light, Snake Light, Black for $3.99 with free shipping arrived. I put it on the Dell laptop, and I moved the other snake light to the Toshiba laptop. The new snake light has a switch to turn it on and off. I chatted with the Delamar Hotel down by the waterfront, and they are dead slow, and they cost about $300 night if one books discount rates through the internet. There are a half dozen five star hotels in White Plains, New York, so most business traveler usually go over there, since there is better security and more full time services. CIO

Note: <888> 01/20/09 Tuesday 1:50 P.M.. I ate ten baby carrots with Old Bay Seasoning on them while I was watching the inaugural. After the inaugural, I went outside, and I cleaned about two inches of snow off the Audi. I chatted with some neighbors and the building social worker. I chatted with a relative. Well, it looks to be a sunny day out, but I usually only go out when I first wake up weather permitting. Believe it or not all of the work on computers is quite time consuming, and it tends to wear one out, also it is very hard on the eyes. For me it is a little bit more time consuming than point and click in the Greenwich Library or whatever some of the other local computer experts think. After about twenty years of personal computers, I tend to know what I am doing computer wise, but I have not had much time to pay much attention to other matters at large. Needless to say because of my vintage age of close to 59 years, it never lead into any high tech jobs, but that I guess is for the younger generation to get some experience.
Once I know the second Dell Latitude CS laptop computer works, I might get this item Netgear WN511B 802.11n RangeMax Next Wireless PC (Netgear NET11903) : surpluscomputers.com for $18.99 with free shipping. However, money is tight, and there is no rush to get it, since more than likely I will not be using them with wireless much anyway. Since I have a well developed office at home, there is no need to put up with the distractions at the Greenwich Library, although it is a warmer place to work this time of year. I have gotten use to the colder conditions in the apartment for now, but as I get older that might not always be the case. I know my older neighbors are feeling the effects of the colder apartments more than ever. CIO

Note: <888> 01/19/09 Monday 6:10 P.M.. Well, I guess the Old Farmer's Almanac report that it would be a mild winter was not too accurate, but sometimes it is cold in the beginning of winter, and then it warms up around here a bit like we possibly get a warming effect from the ocean. When I built the garage apartment out on Long Island, I was painting outside in February 1982, but after I finished it, and made a side trip to Florida and returned there was a foot of snow, and when I got to Oslo, Norway there was six feet of snow on the ground that melted in a few days which seemed sort of curious that it could melt that fast. Note: <888> 01/18/09 Sunday 4:55 A.M.. I put away the laundry. I moved the AT&T wireless router to the bedroom window on top of the speakers which I also replaced with a pair of speaker that I think are good, since the switch did not work on the other pair of speakers. One has to turn on the AT&T wireless router with the bedroom gigabyte computer control panel switch that turns on the power strip. This also enables the AT&T router to send the signal to the LAN cable connected to the bedroom Gigabyte computer. I moved the Linksys wireless router in the living room from on top of the Minolta laser printer to the right of the FIC computer monitors, which printer I might need to use to on top of the speaker on the window shelf behind the FIC server monitors. The repair on the Dell Latitude CS laptop computer with the bread tabs works, but one should not apply pressure to the cord when connected to it, and one should not move it with the power cord connected to it such as working off one's lap, but use it on a stable surface. Of course once the battery is installed in it that will not be a problem either. I tested the Dell laptop downstairs in the lobby with it plugged into the plug on the south side of the lobby, and it picked up the Linksys wireless signal from my apartment at about 45% connection, and I was able to test its download speed at 450 kbps and upload speed at 200 kbps, so the wireless works just fine in the lobby. The AT&T wireless works the same in the lobby, but there is no need to leave it turned on, except to have wireless in the bedroom or when using the bedroom gigabyte computer. There is a wireless signal for Vinci drive in the lobby, community room, and the laundry that is not secured, but its internet access which is probably a cable modem is not turned on, so one can not use it to go online. CIO
Note: <888> 01/18/09 Sunday 2:00 A.M.. I started two laundry loads on the dry cycle with 45 minutes to go. I noticed the Exxon station down by the border with Port Chester, New York is all lighted up like it is opened at night. The Mobil station at Weaver Street and West Putnam Avenue across the street I think is opened 24 hours, and it has a convenience store and a Dunkin Donuts. Also as usual the Shell Station on West Putnam Avenue is opened 24 hours. Also the Colonial Diner across the street from the Y.M.C.A. is opened 24 hours. CIO
Note: <888> 01/18/09 Sunday 1:40 A.M.. I ate two hot dogs on buns with ketchup with watered down passion punch. I threw out the old Dijon mustard. I threw out the garbage. I had one other small problem with the Dell Latitude CS laptop computer. The power supply adaptor works fine on the Dell Docking station, but when it was plugged directly into the Dell laptop, it would only work when it was in a downward position, and if there was upward pressure on the laptop power adaptor, the power would shut off. I fixed this by cutting a plastic bread tab in half, and I doubled up the two halves, and I slid them into the case above the power adaptor connector, so there is downward pressure all of the time, so now the Targus power adaptor with the Number 9 tip works just fine when plugged directly into the Dell Latitude CS laptop computer. The bread tabs are wedged in tightly, so they should not come out unless, they are pulled out. I started two loads of laundry, and I five minutes to go on the wash cycle. I also put clean sheets on the bed. CIO

Note: <888> 01/17/09 Saturday 10:30 A.M.. I did some more bottom fishing on the Dell Latitude CS battery, and there is nothing new available for less than $50. Since I probably would not be outside using it until May 2009 anyway, there is no point in ordering one. If I used it inside in some location like the Greenwich Library, they have electric plugs, so I would not need a battery. I chatted with a relative. I finished defragmenting both partitions on the Abit computer, and I am now doing an internal and external backups to save the changes. I do not know weather defragmenting changes the file structure or not, so I guess it is best to back it up. CIO

Note: <888> 01/16/09 Friday 3:00 P.M.. I woke back up at 8 A.M. this morning, when a friend called. It was three degrees below zero in Great Barrington, Massachusetts near the Butternut Ski area. I read the recent periodical computer literature including the computer magazines. I then threw them out. I threw out the garbage too. I picked up the mail. I watered the plants. I installed Commuter Associates Internet Security Suite on the Windows 7 beta 1 partition on the Abit computer along with the most recent version of Microsoft Messenger 9. I also have already installed the most recent version of www.openoffice.org , so the Windows 7 partition on the Abit computer is for practical purposes a working office computer. However, I put a longer USB cable on the Samsung color laser printer, so one can disconnect it from the Netgear PS121 USB printer server and connect it directly to the front Abit USB 2.0 port, and that way the Samsung color laser printer will work with it. The Netgear FR114P printer router driver works, but one has to install it with administrative privileges. I have the Abit computer mostly configured with Windows 7, except I have not installed the Leadtek TV card program yet. I signed my new lease with the Greenwich Housing Authority at 10 A.M.. I ate a baloney and turkey and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll with a dill pickle slice and 1/8th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went out, and I cleaned the small bit of snow off my car. I went to my 3 P.M. appointment, and I returned. I picked up the mail. Note: <888> 01/14/09 Wednesday 8:45 P.M.. I chatted with a friend this morning, and I did a Vista complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive. I ate half of 13.5 ounce box of reduced fat Cheez-its with some watered down passion punch. While I was asleep, I had a telephone call from Microsoft today, but I was too tired to talk. I woke up at 3 P.M.. I chatted with a friend and a relative. I did a Vista complete PC backup of the primary Vista computer to the Maxtor external hard drive.
PacificGeek.com has $4.95 shipping today.
I ordered from Amazon.com: DELL 7012P Laptop Battery (Equivalent): Electronics for $7.95 and $8.95 shipping for $16.90 total. That is the battery of my Dell Latitude CS laptop computer that I found on Christmas day, and I have configured to work. I chatted with a relative.

Note: <888> 01/14/09 Wednesday 6:15 A.M.. I was invited to beta test Norton Online Backup, so I downloaded the small program. They gave me 25 gigabytes of online storage space, so I backed up 9932 files mostly URLs or 2.92 gigabytes of files. It took about two hours to back up the files online. The beta lasts until January 15, 2010. I am suppose to get a free copy of Norton Ghost 3 to use with it, but I can not find the link to download it.
The Norton Backup Web Link is at https://nobu-beta.backup.com/session/new , but without the small program that I downloaded, one can not use it, I don't think.
While doing that I took down my Christmas decorations. I stored away the small artificial Christmas tree and the artificial wreath from the front door, and a few other small decorative items. I put the two artificial floral wreaths on the front door. I put the large beer stein with the missing handle on the teak stand on the lazy Susan along with a few other small bric-a-brac items on the oak dining table. I had a second power strip on the dining table for the Christmas tree lights, so I moved the power cords for the Samsung color laser printer and its Netgear USB print server to the second power strip, so to use the Samsung color laser printer on the Network, one has to turn on the second power strip. To symbolize the warmth in the apartment we have no longer felt for quite a long time during the winter, I put out the Brazilian pen holder that a Brazilian friend gave me over 20 years ago. However, I no longer have the engraved silver Mark Cross pen that came with it, since when I lived on Steamboat Road, I had three Irish visitors over for beer, and it seemed to have disappeared that evening. However, I replaced it with a www.harvard.edu pen that I bought at Staples as a clearance item that still works after all of these years. The primary Vista computer has not frozen since I put the third one gigabyte PNY PC3200 memory strip back in it along with the other two, so maybe my recent freezing problem was cause by switching the memory that I did when I put in the new 512 meg. video card in the Epox computer. I name my computers after their motherboards and locations and operating systems. However, I had blue screen problems with the previous memory setup, so maybe by changing some CMOS settings which I did earlier a week or more ago, I have solved any primary Vista computer problems. Note: <888> 01/14/09 Wednesday 2:15 A.M.. I installed the Windows updates on the primary Vista and the Abit computers. On the Abit computer, the Windows Media player would not work after reconfiguring the system. The fix is to delete the "DRM" folder which is in different places depending on your operating system, so now the Windows Media player works on the Abit computer. I am now copying the Server folder to the Windows 7 partition, since the first partition is invisible in Windows 7. I will then copy it to the second hard drive. I then have to do a backup to save the changes to the second hard drive and then to the Maxtor external hard drive. It seems like I do more systems maintenance with all of the computers in the apartment than actually using them. CIO
Note: <888> 01/14/09 Wednesday 1:00 A.M.. I did some system's maintenance. I took one of the 1 gigabyte PNY 3200 memory strips out of the Abit computer, and I put it in the primary Gigabyte computer. The 1 gigabyte generic memory that I took out the primary Gigabyte computer, I put in the Abit computer. I also removed the 93 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive from the primary Gigabyte computer, and I put it in as a second hard drive in the Abit computer, and then I backed up the first hard drive with both partitions to the second hard drive on the Abit computer. I took the spare LG DVD/RW drive, and I put it in the primary Vista Gigabyte computer. This took a while. Current system at http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm . CIO

Note: <888> 01/13/09 Tuesday 9:35 P.M.. I finally got around to watering the plants last night, before I went to bed. I ate the sautéed steak with Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce and A1 Bulls Eye steak sauce. I sautéed a 13 ounce New York strip steak, by putting 1.5 tablespoons of olive oil in a 10 inch diameter frying pan on medium high electric burner heat, and I add two cloves of peeled and minced garlic. Once the olive oil bubbles, I turn the steak about every minute. After the first side has cooked for a minute, I season it with garlic powder, ground black pepper, and Italian spices, and then I do the other side after it has cooked for a minute. I basically cook about a .75 inch steak about four minutes a side all together. I then put the hot frying pan on a dinner plate to warm up the dinner plate, and when I put the steak on the dinner plate, I put the chunks of toasted garlic on top of it. This is a leaner less cholesterol way of cooking the steak instead of using butter with the olive oil.
I make the vegetable mixture by taking one medium size potato, and I cut it into 1/3rd inch cubic chunks. I put about .75 inch of water in plastic microwave pot with lid, and I add the potato chunks, about 10 baby carrots, and about six sprigs of broccoli, and I microwave it in a 1100 watt microwave oven on four vegetable cycles. I then drain the water out of the plastic pot with its lid, and I put the vegetables in a bowl with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil on them. I use a plastic squeeze bottle to dispense olive oil. I woke up at 1 P.M.. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went out to my 3 P.M.. appointment. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I sat out at various locations. I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center before and after my walk. I stopped by CVS, and I bought two CVS SuperAdvanced soft toothbrushes for $3 both and .18 tax for $3.18 total. I walked by the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and I got some quarters to have available for parking downtown. I told them they should have bought the Greenwich Time building on East Elm street for a new bank, since it is safer to park there with safer entrance and exit from the parking area as opposed to the Putnam Avenue at Greenwich Avenue. The Van Driver men's clothing store building just east of the Greenwich Time building is also for sale. I finished my walk. I went by the Greenwich Library. I found a Mickey Mouse doll in the parking lot that I left at the reception desk lost and found. I chatted with a regular computer user. I then returned home. I picked up my mail. I chatted with my new neighbor from the Ukraine. I chatted with a relative. I tried on the new Lee Jeans. Waist 46 inches and length 30 inches is about the right size for me, since when I tuck my shirt in the winter, it uses an inch or so, and since I wear suspenders, it does not matter if they are a bit loose. Also when one sits down, one's belly tends to expand out, so they will be more comfortable in a sitting position. I will now make and eat the same sautéed steak and vegetable mixture, which I will eat with a glass of watered down passion punch. CIO

I have a 3 P.M. appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 01/12/09 Monday 11:40 P.M.. I woke up at 3 P.M. today, when I had a computer telephone call from CVS. I went back to bed until 5:30 P.M.. I chatted with a relative. I opened up the Abit computer, and I connected the front panel USB cable to the motherboard, so the front panel USB 2.0 ports now work. When I was building the Abit computer on the bed last night, I lost its generic case lock, which will probably surface some time in the future. I was told last Friday night at T-Mobile on Greenwich Avenue that they have shut down the 60 year old graphite reactor at the Brook Haven National laboratory across the way from Greenwich, Connecticut out on the North Shore of Long Island. I think it is in Cold Spring Harbor. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went out, and I went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue. I picked up a prescription. I also bought two 1 liter bottles of CVS oral antiseptic mouse rinse for $2.99 each and .36 tax for $6.34 total. I then went by the Chase Bank ATM machine on Mason Street. They are suppose to open their new office at the old Harvey Electronics store just west of Greenwich Avenue on January 26, 2008. That is a dangerous driveway to drive in and out. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. Renaissance Capital seems to still be in business at the southeast train station building. I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I stopped by CVS again, and I bought two 12 packs of CVS twin blades razors with rubber handles for $3 each package and .36 tax for $6.36 total. I finished my walk. I cleaned the snow and ice off the two benches on either side of the veterans monument across the street from the senior and the arts center. I clean off the three benches in front of the senior and the arts center. Thus the rest of the ice should melt in the daytime, so they will be comfortable to sit on for any cigarette smokes outside in the cold. I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 24 ounce box of VanderKamps frozen fish filets for $4.21, five 14.5 ounce cans of College Inn low fat chicken broth for $1 each, two 9.5 ounce tubs of Stop and Shop deli sliced honey ham for $2.50 each tub, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, fresh green Chiquita bananas for .64 a pound for $1.40, and fresh broccoli crowns for $1.99 a pound for $2.57 for $21.17 total. I chatted with another computer person. I returned home, and I put away my purchases. I will now eat a sautéed precooked Plumrose 6 ounce ham steak with Dijon mustard on it, and my usual vegetable mixture with olive oil and a glass of watered down passion punch. CIO

Note: <888> 01/12/09 Monday 7:05 A.M.. I went ahead, and I removed the matsonic motherboard from the Matsonic computer, and I put in the Abit motherboard mentioned below, so it is now the Abit computer. I also installed one of the refurbished Thermaltake Volcano cpu coolers. It works just fine, and it boots from the DVD drive too. The front USB ports do not seem to work though. Perhaps, I removed the plug from the motherboard by mistake. I will check it later. I installed the plug and play drivers for the motherboard on the primary operating system, and it works just fine. I then installed Windows 7 on a second 40 gigabyte partition on the 160 gigabyte hard drive. I did a minimal configuration of Windows 7. I am now backing it up to Maxtor external hard drive. CIO

Note: <888> 01/11/09 Sunday 7:00 P.M.. I did a Vista complete PC backup of the primary Vista computer from the first hard drive to the second hard drive, before going to bed early this morning. I also ate the last piece of cherry pie. I went to bed after the last note. I woke up at 11:30 A.M. this morning. I chatted with a relative. I chatted with two relatives. I cleaned a few inches of snow and ice off the Audi. I put clean linens on the bed. I did two loads of laundry. I put Windows 7 on the Northgate Syntax computer on the second hard drive. It installed without any problems, however it does not show the first hard drive, so I can not at this point use it to backup the entire system. I still have to configure it a bit. I tried to put Windows 7 on the Matsonic computer, by changing the DVD/RW and CD/RW drives from Cable Select to Master Slave, and that still did not work, and then I tried the external USB DVD/RW drive, and that did not work. On the primary Vista computer, I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive. I do not at this point have room to put Windows 7 on the primary Vista computer in a seperate partition. I have two new spare Maxtor 320 gigabyte hard drives, so possibly I could reconfigure the hardware to be able to put Windows 7 on in a seperate partition, but that would be a future project, I would have to think about. I will now eat the same dinner as last night. I will then shower and clean up. CIO

I finally shrunk the Epox computer second hard drive to make a 20 gigabyte partition, and I am now installing Windows 7 X86 on it without any problems. I will now burn two copies of the Windows 7 64 bit version. CIO
Note: <888> 01/10/09 Saturday 6:55 A.M.. Well not much happening over here in northwest Belle Haven, Connecticut. Me thinks that Microsoft is telling a fib about 2.5 million people being able to download Windows 7 beta. More than likely with all of the flooding in the Seattle, Washington area, they have experienced some sort of technical problems. Well, we are in for snow starting at 11 A.M. this morning, so get use to being inside. I do not drive until the roads are cleared, since my Audi only has about a 1/4th to 3/8th of an inch tread on the tires, and from experience, I do not think it is safe to drive in snowy slippery conditions despite any vehicle that one might have. I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon. Stay cold and comfortable at home. I was told by the Doctor at the medical physical from Arkansas that a lot of people hurt themselves, when we had black ice on January 2, 2009. I went by Cell Phones,Cellular Phone Plans,Prepaid Cell Phones,Free Cell Phones & Deals - Stick Together with T-Mobile on Greenwich Avenue. I bought another T Mobile Hotspot@Home Linksys Wireless router Model No. WRT54G-TM for $19.99 and a T-Mobile Nokia 2610 starter pack for $6.99 and $1.62 tax for $28.60 total. I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I used the bathroom at the Greenwich Senior and Arts center. I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 2.5 ounce container of Gold Emblem garlic powder for .99. I then complete my walk. At the beginning of my walk, I chatted with two local cigar smokers. Not much seemed to be going on downtown during the colder evening. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a couple of the regulars.

I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a four pack of New York strip steaks for $5.99 a pound for $14.56, a five pound bag of Maine potatoes for $2.99, and four 18 ounce cans of Campbell's New England clam chowder for $1.50 each can for $23.55 total. I then returned home. I tested the Audi cigarette lighter with the Nokia cigarette lighter charger that I bought, and it works fine with the Nokia AT&T wireless go phone that I have. I left the cigarette lighter charger in the arm rest compartment between the seats. I brought up its box, but the case that came with it is too small. I put away my purchases. I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature and the shipping box that came today.

I will shower and clean up shortly.
My actual electricity bill for December 2008 at www.cl-p.com was $168.70 which I have already paid the budget amount of $90 for. I have a surplus from Energy assistance that makes up the difference. That is without using the electric heat.
The average temperature in December 2008 was 33.8 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average temperature for December 2007 was 34.2 degrees Fahrenheit.
For 32 days in December 2008, I used 770 KWH or about 27.5 KWH a day compared to 30 days in December 2007, when I used 1381 KWH or 46.03 KWH a day. From the bill, it now looks as of January 6, 2009, I might now be on the Night Time electric rate.
I will now shut down the primary Vista computer and get ready to go out. I will dress warmly. CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/09 Friday 6:55 A.M.. Nothing ever happens in Greenwich, Connecticut Greenwich Time, because when the "Old Guard" get back from their winter homes in Florida, they do not expect it to have changed too much despite all the turmoil of New York coming and going all of the time.
Byram group eyes purchase of historic homes - Greenwich Time . They Lyon family in Greenwich, Connecticut are suppose to be relatives to the Queen Mum of England's Scottish family Bowles Lyon. Possibly they left Greenwich, Connecticut and Lyon Farm to move to Lyon Farm Road out in Nantucket where Admiral Moore's family lived, and where I use to fish. It is pretty bleak out there in the winter. However, Nantucket had Scottish roots in that the so called original Quakers were actually Scottish, and they became Quakers, so they would not have to pay for a minister. Thus if the old Lyon house is down by the corner here, I am possibly living where the original Lyon Farm was, in which case there might be some historical connection to this property long since forgotten. I went to school with Wendy Lyon, and I knew the Lyon twins at one time. Wendy Lyon was one of the class photographers in my class of 1965 at Greenwich Country Day School. Nantucket remained Tory during the American revolution because the British Navy controlled a lot of the sea. However, Benjamin Franklin's mother was a Folger from Nantucket, so possibly her group of friends worked for the British while the men were out discovering America. Last I knew www.harvard.edu chairs at the Greenwich Hospital thrift shop only cost $45, but you have to remember a cleaver chair builder in Concord, Massachusetts designed it, so the rather large Harvard students could not hit each other over the heads with chairs in the dining rooms at the commons at Harvard in the old days. It is a lot colder in Cambridge, Massachusetts than in the New York area, so people tend to spend more time inside studying, when they are not working. CIO

Note: <888> 01/09/09 Friday 4:05 A.M.. On the potato cube, broccoli, and baby carrot mixture that I microwaved in the microwave oven, I just put a little bit of olive oil on it instead of the au gratin mixture. I have a lot of butter and margarine that I have to use up a little bit at a time, or I could always wait until this summer when thinner relatives pass through this area on their way up to Maine. As I recall, the furthest north I have ever been in Maine is Brunswick, Maine. I recall after the Seabrook demonstration in the spring of 1977, I hitch hiked down to Williamsburg, Virginia, and on the return back up north to Durham, New Hampshire, I recall also hitch hiking up to Portland, Maine, where I stayed for a couple night at the Y.M.C.A., and then I recall hitch hiking up to Brunswick, Maine, and when I arrived at the entrance of Bowdon College, it was near dusk and cold, so I hitch hiked back down to Nantucket, where I usually had a roof over my head. As I recall, when I was at the New Hampshire Liquor store at the Portsmouth circle this summer buying Rothschild white wine, I noticed the Howard Johnson's is not longer there, where I once had a bowl of oatmeal on a cold night, but nearby is a Bickfords which is another Danish family in Greenwich, Connecticut. I recall Mike Bickford was mugged at the Bickfords at www.harvard.edu square while a student, there, so he probably moved it a little bit further north.
Michael Louis Scott's secret formula for a quick oatmeal breakfast.
Buy one 48 ounce container of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal for about $4.99
Put one half cup of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal in a large microwave proof cereal bowl.
Add 7/8th cup of water.
Place in 1100 watt microwave oven with microwave lid on the bowl.
Microwave on regular setting for One Minute and 40 Seconds.
Remove from microwave oven.
Mix a half teaspoon of honey in the hot oatmeal.
Mix a couple ounces of milk in the oatmeal.
Put one sliced banana on the oatmeal.
That is the hearty bowl of oatmeal I have every day with my toasted English muffin, coffee with milk and splenda and 50% to 50% mixture of watered down passion punch. The passion punch being one third grape juice is good for the heart, and one third cranberry juice is good for the kidneys, and one third orange juice with calcium has a lot of vitamins and nutrients from down south that we seem to miss up north. I guess I have to go back to putting olive oil on my English muffins. Alas, although filet of salmon is only $5.99 a pound at the Stop and Shop this past week, and I know it is good for you, I can not afford to eat it all of the time like I use to, since I have take up computers as a way to keep busy. Tuna fish is probably still good for you to as would be meatless spaghetti sauce and noodles. Down south peanut butter is always healthy for you.
If you are poor up north, you can get the same amount of vitamin C as a glass or orange juice by putting a teaspoon of white vinegar in a glass of water. CIO
Note: <888> 01/09/09 Friday 1:55 A.M.. I woke up at 3 A.M. yesterday morning. I ate a baloney and turkey and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll with 1/3rd of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch. I checked the Epox computer setup to make sure it works in Clone mode with the primary monitor and the Sony high definition CRT television. It works just fine that way. However, I had the speakers plugged into the wrong Creative sound card jack, so I fixed that, and also the headset was not plugged into the rear USB 2.0 seven port device, so I plugged them in. The power to the seven port USB device is turned on by the switch for the HP printer, which I have not yet relabeled, and the HP printer is turned on by the control panel switch for the Northgate Syntax computer, but the HP laser printer is still attached to the Epox computer. I tested out the clone mode on the Sony television watching some of the www.mit.edu courses on physics. I then returned the Epox computer to two monitor mode with the ATI Catalyst program, and I shut down the Epox computer. I still can not get the Northgate Syntax computer to install the Vista home updates, but possibly the Microsoft server is busy. I filled out my new lease for the Greenwich Housing Authority, and I copied the paper work, I need to go with it. I sign it next Thursday, January 15, 2009 in the community room between 11 A.M. and 1 P.M.. I went back to bed from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.. For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda. I washed the breakfast dishes. I made my bed. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went downstairs, and I chatted with neighbors. I got my rent bill from the Greenwich Housing Authority. I went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street. I then went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority. I then went to the Greenwich Hospital outpatient clinic, and I got the follow up on the medical physical I had before Christmas. My Cholesterol is 210 which is way too high, and my bad cholesterol is way too high too. The doctor gave me a prescription for Tricor 145 mg. once a day, and told me I should exercise more and try more of a Mediterranean diet which is expensive in this area, unless somebody sends the Sixth Fleet to the Mediterranean where it might be cheaper to eat that diet. I have to go back to get more laboratory work in six weeks, and then see the doctor two weeks after that. I then went by CVS, and I dropped off the prescription form. I then went further downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I stopped by the Senior and the Arts center, and I used the bathroom. I stopped by Subway barber, and they now cost $20 for a hair cut. I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played a Green Backs scratch card for a dollar, but I lost. I stopped by the Classic Barber shop, and they are also $20. I really do not need a hair cut, since in colder weather long hair keeps your head warm. One can lose 50% of one's body heat through one's head in cold weather, so wear a warm cap or hat. I stopped by CVS, and I picked up my Tricor prescription, and I also bought a 12 pack of Thomas' English muffins for $1.99. I tried using my AT&T wireless go phone outside, but it would not work. I stopped by T-Mobile store on Greenwich Avenue, and I bought a T Mobile Hotspot@Home Linksys Wireless router Model No. WRT54G-TM for $19.99 and $1.20 tax for $21.19 total. I then went by the AT&T wireless store, and they checked out my wireless telephone, and they said the only problem was that one occasionally has to turn it on and off, and not leave it on all of the time, which I do. I then finished my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and chatted with a couple of the reference librarians and the janitor. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I chatted with a village local about the price of tea in China. I bought a 59 ounce container of Simply orange orange juice with calcium for $3, a 16 ounce two eight ounce tub package of Smart Balance margarine for $2.99, a three pound bag of yellow onions for $2.49, Chiquita slightly green bananas for .64 a pound for $1.66, and a bulb or garlic for $2.99 a pound for .33 for $10.47 total. I then returned home. I chatted with a relative. I installed the T-Mobile Linksys Wireless router where the other Linksys wireless router was, and I first configured it per instructions, and I named it "mike-scott" without password access. I tested it using my wireless Dell laptop computer. It works just fine. We have two weak signal password protected wireless signals in this area. However, my server would not work with it directly connected to the system per instructions. Thus I have it setup to work off the Netgear router, and I can turn it on and off with the left switch on the FIC server control panel. I disconnected the AT&T wireless router, but it is still in position available for use. I started to file my note, and my computer froze four different times, and I rebooted. I turned off the cable modem and the wireless router, and the computer does not freeze, so it would lead me to believe, I am being hacked through the internet access or the wireless router, since it happened more frequently than usual. However, I will try to run a non password protected wireless router, since at my apartment location, it would give wireless access in the building lobby, but if I am hacked, I obviously will not be able to do it. I was told by the www.fbi.gov in New Haven, Connecticut after over 500 telephone calls over the last three years, that if I can find out whom the hacker is, I can file an affidavit with the Connecticut attorney general, and then the www.fbi.gov will investigate it. That obviously is why I have not been getting much real work done over the last three years. I will now make and eat the same dinner as the last four nights. CIO

I tried it with another cable and setting it up at a different location, but it still did not work. I never used it hardly at all, so some how it became defective. I had bought it a couple of years ago for $20 in the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, so I do not think there is a warranty on it. The AT&T wireless router still works though. I received this email about the Yellowstone earthquakes.
Beginning of email:
Dear Mr.
Scott,
If you
are asking whether these recent swarms at Yellowstone are normal, yes, they are.
The last time there was a swarm this large at Yellowstone was 1985. That swarm
was significantly larger than this one. You can also consider that Yellowstone
last had a volcanic eruption 70,000 years ago, whereas there have likely been
scores or hundreds of swarms similar to this just in the past few thousands of
years. Though the news articles might say that scientists are "baffled", that
is a bit extreme. We see these a lot. We don't understand everything about
them. Such is life when you study things that happen miles beneath our feet.

Note: <888> 01/06/09 Tuesday 8:05 P.M.. I ate a piece of Cherry pie. I chatted with a relative. I showered, and I cleaned up. Ubuntu would not install on the Toshiba laptop because it is too old. I have an unused copy of XP Professional, so I am putting it on the IBM 10 gigabyte hard drive in the Toshiba laptop which has a CD drive, and then I will transfer the IBM 10 gigabyte hard drive to the Dell Latitude CS laptop where it was originally, and I will put the Toshiba hard drive back in the Toshiba laptop. I will then have to install the updates and configure the Dell laptop, which will take a while. I put the Digital camera on the center right bookcase shelf in the hallway for now. I used the #9 tip on the Targus power supply on the Dell Latitude CS laptop, and it works just fine. The CMOS password was cleared. However, it would not recognize the USB DVD/RW drive for booting. It had a password protected copy of XP Professional on it. I switched the Dell IBM 10 gigabyte hard drive to the Toshiba laptop, and I am in the process of putting Ubuntu on the Toshiba laptop. I did a low level quick format of the 10 gigabyte IBM hard drive before starting to install Ubuntu. I put the Toshiba laptop 5 gigabyte hard drive in the Dell Latitude CS laptop, and its copy of XP Home works just fine. The 5 gigabyte hard drive is partitioned to eliminate two bad sectors, so it will not work with Ubuntu anyway. I will move the wireless PCI and LAN PCI cards from the Toshiba laptop to the Dell laptop. I will setup the Dell laptop with its docking station and USB DVD/RW external hard drive on the small computer desk to the left of the primary Vista computer, and I will put the Toshiba laptop with Ubuntu and a 2X LAN PCI card on the oak coffee table by the French reproduction chair. However in that setup, since the Dell laptop does not have a telephone modem, I will not have the potential for using the internet in case of a power outage, which really does not matter.
For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with margarine, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda. Thus since the order was at Amazon, I was able to cancel it without any problems. Moreover, I do not think a 12,000 BTU air conditioner would be powerful enough to cool my apartment with the windows facing the western sun in the summer, so I will continue to use the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control until which time I need a new one. Although it weighs quite a lot and is awkward to take out and install, I think I can handle that for the near future. Who knows it might even last quite a while longer. CIO

Since it is very hot in my apartment without an air conditioner for over half the year, and although the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control is 8 years old, it still works fine, it is very difficult taking out and put in with the seasons.
I ordered this DeLonghi unit Amazon.com: DeLonghi PAC A120E Pinguino 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Eco-Friendly R410a Refrigerant Gas: Kitchen & Dining for $227.88. Thus since it does not install in the window, it will be easier to maintain. One just runs the hose out the window. I could use a longer hose and put it elsewhere in the room.
De'Longhi Product Detail - PAC A120E:PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER
However, it is 15 inches in depth, so it probably would not fit on the window ledge, since it needs room for intake from the rear, but I could put it where the chair is beneath the stereo system is, since I never use that chair. Thus I will also not have the problem of removing it and installing it during the seasonal change. However, I might go ahead an install the General Electric until this spring, and use it for extra air conditioning, but I have plenty of time to thing about that. For the price with free shipping it is a good deal for my apartment that I have to keep cool, since it is necessary to keep the computers cool in the summer, and I also tend not to do very well working in warm temperatures.

I watered the plants. I chatted with a friend. I showered, and I cleaned up. I went out, and I chatted with a neighbor. I went downtown, and I stopped by CVS. I used a $6 CVS bonus bucks coupon, and I bought a 50 ounce 2X container of Tide with bleach alternative which was $5.88. I then went downtown, and I checked out the downtown scene. I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a day old cherry pie for $2.50, a 64 ounce container of Minute Maid Premium orange juice for $2.50, a one pound package of Stop and Shop processed white cheese slices for $3.99, a dozen extra large jumbo eggs expire January 30, 2009 for $2.39,a 16 ounce container of 4 C seasoned bread crumbs for $2.99, a 16 ounce container of Billy Bee pure Canadian clover honey for $3.99, a 48 ounce container of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal for $4.99, two 64 ounce containers of Stop and Shop grape juice for $2.50 each, two 64 ounce containers of Stop and Shop cranberry juice for $2.79 each, three 8 ounce containers of Stop and Shop parmesan and Romano grated cheese for $2.99 each, a 15 ounce bottle of Kikkoman soy sauce for $2.29, a six pack of boneless breasts of chicken for $1.79 a pound for $6.82, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, a five pound bag of Yukon yellow potatoes for $3.99, Chiquita bananas for .64 a pound for $1.40, broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $3.04 for $63.43 total. I then returned home. I used my folding cart I brought with me to bring up my groceries, and I also picked up my mail. I put away the groceries. I chatted with a relative. I was told they were having a Pink Floyd laser light show in San Antonio, Texas tonight. My relative told me that the news about the Yellowstone earthquakes came from www.cnn.com , but I can not find the story. I did find this story.
Earthquake Swarm at Yellowstone Supervolcano: Update - Capital Commerce (usnews.com)
I made and ate the same dinner as two and four nights ago, but I had diced potato chunks with the vegetables au gratin instead of flavored rice on the side. I chatted with a friend for a while before dinner and a friend of his too. Not much seems to be going on around here, but it did seem like there were more prosperous people than normal downtown today from what I normally see. Maybe some of the wealthier people with the economic recession are having to start to forage around for survival. I was told that www.mcdonalds.com sells seniors cups of coffee for I think it was $.69 instad of $.99. CIO

Note: <888> 01/03/09 Saturday 4:15 A.M.. On the subject Recent Earthquakes for Yellowstone about all I know is this Global Volcanism Program | Yellowstone | Summary . I did see the movie on television about two years ago called "Super Volcano" which as I recall was about Yellowstone having an eruption, and it was quite convincing. I know the local news anchor in Manhattan Jack Ford the son of former President Ford use to be a park ranger in Yellowstone while his father was president. Since none of the news media is covering any stories about it, I assume it means that with the geothermal springs there, they have lots of earthquakes. It is a large area, so maybe individuals in that area have not felt them. I do know about four years ago, when I chatted with the American Express 800 number in Utah, they told there were a lot of earthquakes around Yellowstone, so from my perspective it might not be a new story, but something that has been ongoing. CIO
Note: <888> 01/03/09 Saturday 2:40 A.M.. Alas, the Ninth Circle and Uncle Charles are no longer down in Greenwich Village for any freezing sailors from the Commonwealth. However, as I recall on Greenwich Street about two blocks north of the ninth street at Little Charles Place, there use to be an all night coffee shop that served Eggs Florentine for about $2. Eggs Florentine is like Eggs Benedict, but instead of having Canadian Bacon inside, it has spinach, which according to Poppie the Sailor Man is suppose to be good for you. I know it has lots of iron. Alas Olive Watson Oil is no longer around these parts, but she left a baby hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut in case anyone is having babies. I think all of the young sailors now hang out at some place I last heard of called "Splash" near the Norman Vincent Peale's Marble Collegeant Church, but anywhere around the waterfront, or for that sake anywhere in the New York City area, one could always be mugged. I once had somebody try to steal a $5 Timex watch from me in Central Park, until I convinced the person, it was not really worth anything. There are probably a whole lot of new "Rat Holes" in New York City that I do not know about. In the old days, the "Old Guard" group of people from British Intelligence kept an eye out on the Greta Garbo Home for Wayward Boys, and as I recall it was just east of St. Vincent's Hospital on 13th street in Greenwich Village. The people whom live around Beekman Place in the United Nation's neighborhood tend to have jobs or money, or possibly they are house sitting for people whom always seem to be away traveling. The Upper East Side use to have a lot of upscale office workers whom had extra money for higher rents. Whether anyone really know what goes on in Manhattan or not is opened to debate. From my perspective having observed it from 1961 until about 1993 is that it is invaded by a different group of people everyday depending on the economy and the weather, so it changes all of the time. I quit going to Manhattan once I got on the internet over 15 years ago, since there was no need to gather the news from those writing and making the news. Some of the younger generation seem to have disposable income, so their focus might be different than the older generation whom might be more conservative with their money. In other words, I would not waste $20 train fare to go into Manhattan round trip to observe a Microsoft conference, when they could just as easily put it on the internet for anyone interested. They obviously have some other motive like holding one hostage in Manhattan while somebody from Manhattan comes out here and makes a big fuss over nothing. Greenwich, Connecticut this century since the invention of modern air travel has been a bedroom community of world travelers, so more than likely a few people here have been to the same places from time to time, and the new generation might feel the need to travel if they can afford it, but the older generation has other priorities. I dare say, there is an experienced group of people here whom seen to be experienced at one comes back in our direction on the rebound. We do know http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm seems to have met everyone first with his multiple language skills, so possibly if people want to learn multiple languages, they should figure out how he learned them or whom or what group taught them to him. He could just as easily have been a foreign intelligence agent or a domestic agent, or possibly a bell boy at the Waldorf Astoria that picked up a lot of languages. CIO

Note: <888> 01/02/09 Friday 11:35 P.M.. Also the two foot high brick wall on the north side of the Cole Auditorium of the Greenwich Library seems to have been knocked down in front of the handicap parking spaces as if somebody put their vehicle in forward instead of reverse when backing out from parking there. Judging from the brick work damage, the vehicle must have had a bit of damage too. CIO
Note: <888> 01/02/09 Friday 11:15 P.M.. During the recession in the early 1970s, I recall certain businesses did well. I recall in Manhattan at the time, yogurt and bagels were big sellers. I ate a lot of liverwurst sandwiches from the deli near the United Nations next to the A&P on Second Avenue and 52nd street. I recall a lot of Vermont people had businesses in downtown Greenwich Village, and one of the busiest at night and the early morning hours was David's Pot Belly named after a Pot Belly stove they had in the restaurant that sold hundreds of different types of omelets with English muffins and coffee for about $3. They were located just west of Seventh Avenue on Christopher Street in the heart of the area where United States Government Military Intelligence use to frequent along with the smaller student population. CIO
Note: <888> 01/02/09 Friday 11:05 P.M.. I will not put the three license copy of McAfee Internet Security 2009 on my three primary computers, until the current copy of McAfee Internet Security 2008 expires in the middle of September 2009. I ate two tangerines before going out. I did not walk Greenwich Avenue tonight, because I am a bit tired and worn out, and it also looked like it might be slippery out with the possibility of black ice, which is an icy condition that one can not see at night or even the day time for that matter. There are suppose to be 150 financial hedge funds in Greenwich, Connecticut, so with the economic decline, more than likely there will be future financial failures in this area. Also I read in www.forbes.com when the hedge funds first started moving out here, they were the sleaziest game in town. The Greenwich Time wrote that the reason that they all moved out here was not because they were scarred of terrorism in Manhattan, but that they are not as closely regulated here in Connecticut as they would be in New York State, and that since the trial courts in Connecticut are backed up over 10 years, it can take a long time to bring a law suit to trial in case the hedge funds go bankrupt. Thus one should watch one's money. I recommended to the Chase Bank www.chase.com over a year and a half ago that one should put their money in United States Government long term treasury bills, but although their interest rate is low, one would not lose their money in an economic decline such as we have experienced. That judgment was based on the fact that the Royal Bank of Scotland had sold as of ten years ago over three trillion dollars of United States Government certificates of debt or treasury bills to the Japanese. A basic economic principle is that if you have a lot of money, and you buy something its price will go up, and just as easy its price will go down when you sell it. It is called the law of "Supply and Demand" a basic economic principle. I have noticed recently, there is not much activity around the southeast building at the Greenwich Train Station office plaza where the Russian fund Renaissance Capital use to be, so possibly they have moved or gone out of business. They use to be quite busy with lots of limousines coming and going, and when I checked them out on the internet, they were registered in Cyprus. The good news is that I got $6 of CVS Bonus Bucks tonight that I will use on some future purchase. I have never worked for CVS, but I did once work for www.cbsnews.com during the two months of the Watergate hearings in the summer of 1973 as a clerk typist, and since it was a live feed from the Senate Hearings, there was not production going on there, and the only thing I noticed unusual at the Broadcast Center back then was a French aircraft carrier showed up with about two thousand French sailors. CBS News has never been profitable, CBS makes their money off the Soap Operas which Proctor and Gamble their biggest advertiser owns. CIO
Note: <888> 01/02/09 Friday 9:55 P.M.. I went out after the last note. I cleaned the snow and ice off the Audi. I went by the Greenwich Library, and I returned the Harry Potter DVD. I chatted with a local lawyer about the price of tea in China. I then went by the Chase Bank on Mason Street, and I used their ATM machine. I then went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue, and I chatted with the same local lawyer about the price of tea in China. I bought a 12 pack of Thomas' English muffins for $1.99. I then went by the central Greenwich Post Office, and I mailed the Microsoft Money 2006 reports to an interested relative, and I also mailed the McAfee $20 rebate information. I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf station, and I bought $5 of self service premium at $2.299 a gallon for 2.173 gallons purchased at 28.1 miles driving since last Friday a week ago at odometer reading of 62064 miles for 12.93143 miles per gallon. I checked the tires for 32 PSI. They told me the same staff is still at the station. I then returned home. From what I can tell, the original Greenwich, Connecticut ties with China were not former ambassador Bush being assigned to China in the Nixon administration, it was that the Luce family of Time magazine lived here, and before they got into the magazine business in America, they were Christian missionaries in China. Also Herbert Hoover was a coal mining engineer in China, and his son has lived here in Greenwich, Connecticut for many years. Of course more than likely a few Chinese were doing laundry in Manhattan, before Greenwich, Connecticut evolved from a farming community to a suburban business center. CIO
Note: <888> 01/02/09 Friday 6:05 P.M.. I checked with the Greenwich Police at their non emergency number at 1-203-622-8000, and they said it was safe to drive on the roads. I guess I will go out after I shower and clean up and do some errands. I also had a wake up call at noon today from some group calling itself the United States Federation of Police Officers trying to fund raise, and I told them I have already done my fair share of walking in this area. I chatted with an out of town comment line twice. I went back downstairs, and the Otis Elevator person was here to fix a button on the elevator. I chatted a neighbor. I picked up the rest of my mail. I received a $10 survey check from Knowledge Networks. I have the $20 MaAfee rebate information ready to mail. It is close to freezing outside which could cause ice on the roads, so I do not plan to go out, since I do not want to risk the Audi.
