Thursday 8:05 P.M.: I went out after the last message, and
I dropped a neighbor off in Port Chester. I then stopped by
Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the
Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop. Everything is half price. I then
went by the Mews Merry Go Round Thrift shop, and they have a full
stock of items. I then drove down by the waterfront. I next drove
over to Old Greenwich to Off Center Hair Stylists, and I got my
hair cut for $16 plus $4 tip for $20 total. I then went to the
Rummage Room thrift shop, and I toured the shop. Everything is
half price. I next went to the Old Greenwich Food Mart, and I
bought a roast beef sandwich on a Kaiser roll with mayonnaise,
lettuce, tomato, onion, and horseradish for $3.95 plus .24 for $4.19
total and it came with a small bag of potato chips. I then
went out to the Southwest parking area at Tods Point, and I
ate the sandwich and potato chips for lunch. I noticed a large
container ship coming down Long Island sound towards New York,
which one normally does not see. I then went to Staples, and from
the Clearance area, I bought two Outdoor Products 24 X 36
one blue and one green duffle bags regularly $30 for $4.50 each
plus .54 tax for $9.54 total. I then stopped by the Greenwich
Hospital Thrift Shop again, and I bought an Epson Color Photo 870
printer that supposedly worked and needed new ink cartridges for
$14.75. I then drove down by the waterfront. I then made my 3 P.M.
appointment. I next returned a video DVD to the library. I then
returned home. I set up the Epson 870 printer, and I installed
the drivers. I turned it on, and it came on with lights showing
it needed new ink cartridges. However, the print head would not
slide to open up the ink cartridge holders. I unscrewed the lid
and open the print cartridge holders, and the print head was
broken with a piece broken off. Thus it is no good. I will return
it tomorrow. I put the Compaq IJ200 printer back on top of the
backup computer. I will now have two hotdogs with buns and
ketchup and mustard and potato chips and a dill pickle slice and
ice tea. I will then relax, and I will head off to bed a little
while after that. CIO

Tuesday 1:05 A.M.: I had the same meal for dinner as last night.
I have received over a 100 Trojan Horse attacks on my computer
within the last month, usually several a night, which the
Symantec Norton Firewall 2002 has detected and blocked. Over two
thirds of them are from Optimum Online users. Thus, it is my
opinion that even with the Norton Symantec 2002 Firewall, and the
Windows XP firewall, that online users with Optimum Online
probably do not have secure connections with Optimum Online, so
thus when they are online, their private information is not
secure. It would seem that Optimum should have the capability of
monitoring such activity and curtailing the accounts of the
abusers. Still with about a third of the hackers coming from
elsewhere on the internet which could be anywhere else in the
world, it would seem that local hackers with their abusive
behavior are incurring the wrath of other hackers. The
Optimum online tech support person I chatted with a few nights
ago told me that hackers place Trojan Horse programs on
computers, and then other hackers scour the internet looking for
these Trojan Horse programs, so they can hack into the computers.
Thus, if one were trying to maintain secure information or
communications in terms of documents and databases, I would
recommend not to have computer systems online for those secure
systems. Basically in cryptology and hacking it has always been
my belief if one person can write a security system, another
person can break it. Well time to go back to some normal computer
routine. CIO

coffee, and vitamins. I cleaned up, and I went over to Port
Chester, New York. I stopped by the ATM machine at Bank of New

Vitamin Shoppe at the A&P shopping center. I bought Vitamin
Shoppe MSM 1000 mg. 300 capsules for $32.37 plus I had a $10
discount coupon from my Vitamin Shoppe card for $22.37 total. I
then returned to central Greenwich, and I stopped by CVS, and I
bought a 12 roll pack of double roll Cottonelle bathroom tissue
for $4.99 plus .30 tax for $5.29 total. I then went to the
Greenwich Library, and I returned a book and two DVD video disks,
and I checked out two more DVD video disks. I then walked lower

successfully installed in the upper bay of the backup computer as
the D: drive. I put on side rails on it that I had. I connected
it with an IDE controller cable I had from the secondary IDE

Monday 2:40 A.M.: I went to bed about 9 A.M. yesterday. I was up
at about 6:30 P.M.. I had breakfast of oatmeal, Poppy seed bread
toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I went out at 8 P.M..
I drove down by the waterfront. I then drove over to the ATM
machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then
stopped by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two cans of Progresso
New England clam chowder for .99 each, four half gallons of
Florida Natural orange juice with calcium for $2 each, Lysol pine
cleaner $1.99, S&S parmesan cheese $2.49, two replacement
sponges for the O Cedar dishwashing wand $2.49, a dozen large
eggs $1.69, two large bags of Lays onion and sour cream potato
chips $1.99 each for $22.89 total. I then drove downtown. I
walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area. I then
sat out downtown for a while. I then walked up to the top of
Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out for a while. I then walked back
down the Avenue. I then drove down by the waterfront. I had
noticed around the train station dumpster two discarded Dell
Optiplex GxA workstations, which I retrieved. I then returned
home about midnight. I put away my groceries. Both Dell Optiplex
GxA workstations have been stripped of their memory and
processors. Thus they are not of any use. One did have a Maxtor
Model #9065OU2 six gigabyte hard drive which I will put in the
backup computer. There are no other salvageable items on either
unit, unless one had a similar Dell desktop and could use the
floppy drives or power supplies. I will put both of them out by
my dumpster before installing the Maxtor hard drive on the backup
computer. I had dinner of two 1/3 inch slices of cold eye round
with horseradish and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce,
steamed white rice with La Choy low sodium soy sauce, steamed
frozen Brussels sprouts, ice tea, and Brazilian instant coffee.

Sunday 1:35 A.M.: I went back downstairs and I checked the mail
after the last message. I went to bed yesterday about noon. About
1:30 P.M., I got a call from one of Robert Schulers people
soliciting contributions for his church ministry. I explained to
them that on my limited income, I can not afford to give to his
church, but I encourage my wealthier friends to give to his
church. I also discussed certain Dutch matters and Reform church
matters on the east coast. I went back to bed until 8 P.M., and I
received a telephone call from a relative that they received the
book I sent them. They explained to me that in the reused
wrapper I sent it in that I had enclosed another relatives
Christmas card with a $20 gift. The relative is returning it to
me. I got up, and I had breakfast of three medium boiled eggs,
two croissants I got from the table downstairs, vitamins, orange
juice, and coffee. I watched the Winter Olympics until about 11:30
P.M.. I then cleaned up. I then took the three pound eye roast,
and I seasoned it on both sides with ground black pepper, garlic
pepper, celery salt, chicken and meat seasoning, oregano, basil,
and Italian spices, and then I covered its entire surface with
Texas Best barbeque sauce, and I am cooking it in the convection
oven for 45 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. I will let it
stand about ten or fifteen minutes to let the meat absorb the
juices after cooking before slicing some off for dinner. I will
put on the eye round Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce,
horseradish, and McHilneys Tabasco sauce. I will have it
with steamed white rice with La Choy low sodium soy sauce,
steamed frozen green beans, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I will

Saturday 10:15 A.M.: I went out, and I stopped by the waterfront.
Believe it or not Long Island Sound still seems to be there.
Despite our local rain fall shortage and drought conditions, we
can still look at the moist waterfront. Maybe we should start
thinking of building a desalination plant. I recall Dupont makes
reverse osmosis water desalination plants. I then drove downtown,
and I walked lower Greenwich Avenue. I stopped by Zyns, and
I played number 28 scratch card for $1, but I did not win. I sat
out for a while. I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift
shop. They still have the $20 bag sale on. Today is the last day
of $20 a bag. I suppose it is cheaper next week. I bought a
chipped 8 inch glass bowl for $1. I then went by the Stop and
Shop, and I bought a package of expire hotdog buns for .79, two
32 ounce Heinz ketchups for $3 both, Lea and Perrins
Worcestershire sauce large bottle $2.29, and an eye round roast
at $2.99 a pound for $9.21 for $15.29 total. I then returned home.
I picked up a loaf of poppy seed bread from the bread donation
table. I then relaxed a bit. I will now head off to bed.

Saturday 7:20 A.M.: I took my omelet pan which I do not wash, but
I leave seasoned. I sliced four 1/6 inch slices of mozzarella
cheese, I then broke three extra large eggs, and I mixed them
with two tablespoons of milk with a fork but not too thoroughly.
I also added dashes of Basil, Italian seasoning, and oregano. I
heated the omelet pan on the large electric burner at medium heat
adding two tablespoons of olive oil and three pads of margarine.
Once the fat was heated, I added the egg mixture and let it heat.
Once it began to be cooked on the top side, I loosed it with a
spatula and I flipped the omelet to cook on the other side, and I
added the slices of mozzarella and once it began to puff up, I
folded it and I placed the mozzarella cheese omelet on a plate
and I added dashes of parmesan cheese on top of it. I had it with
two slices of Italian bread toast and ice tea. I will now go out
for some day light activity. CIO

Saturday 4:30 A.M.: I went out after the last message. I drove
down by the waterfront. The police were towing a car by Greenwich
Capital. I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue. The
Dome Restaurant left their front window open. I noticed quite a
few stores are empty on Greenwich Avenue. I then drove by the ATM
machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then
stopped by the Shell Station, and I bought a dozen eggs for $2.59
which is a bit higher than usual, but I did not feel like going
to Cumberland Farms across the border in New York where they
would be cheaper. Both the Food Emporium and the Stop and Shop
appeared to be closed. I then returned home. I am having an ice
tea. CIO

changed the sheets on my bed. I did my house cleaning and
watering the plants. I still have to vacuum in the morning when I
will not disturb my neighbors. I watched the Winter Olympics
while doing this. Earlier in the week, I put on a new 6
foot cable from the cablevision wall outlet underneath the living
room windows to the first splitter. Hopefully this will eliminate
lines on the television screen. I had a meal of two hotdogs with
buns and mustard and ketchup and ice tea and Brazilian instant
coffee. I ran Symantec Live Update and Windows Update installing

Thursday 8:35 P.M.: I fell asleep until 1:30 P.M.. I had two
hotdogs with buns and mustard and ketchup and ice tea. I then
cleaned up, and I made my 3 P.M. appointment. I then stopped by
the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. They have a $20 a bag
of clothing sale going on. I then drove downtown. I noticed all
the parking meters on Greenwich Avenue are now a quarter for a
half hour. They do not accept nickels and dimes. I did notice all
the parking meters in the Board of Education parking lot are the
same, but about the last 15 in the northwest corner west of the
tree on the north side of the parking lot are a quarter for an
hour. Thus the parking bargains on Greenwich Avenue seem to have
been eliminated. I suppose the off street parking lots like next
to the Town Hall might offer better rates. I also suppose
that Old Greenwich still does not have parking meters. I walked
lower Greenwich Avenue. I then drove by the waterfront. I next
stopped by the Greenwich Library, and I returned a DVD video. I
then went by Exxon, and I bought $8 of premium at $1.499 a gallon.
I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought two boneless shell
steaks at $4.99 a pound for $7.29 total. I then returned home. I
relaxed a bit. I then had dinner of a Stauffers 20 ounce
Lasagna with parmesan cheese, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I will
now do a bit of regular computer work. The procedure for
remedying with the Symantec Firewall preventing Windows XP from
logging on to Optimum Online works fine. I tried it just now.
Simply when one boots, and the computer does not log on, disable
from the lower right side icon the Symantec Norton Firewall, then
on the networking icon click repair, and then enable the Symantec
Norton Firewall, and one should be on line with Optimum. I am not
sure if Symantec has a cure, but at least this works. Back

bread toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I relaxed a bit.
On the computer when I start up the computer, and it logs onto
Optimum Online, sometimes because of the Symantec Internet
Firewall, it does not log on properly. With the icons in
the lower right side of the screen, one can temporarily disable
the Symantec Firewall, and then on the networking icon, one can
click to repair the network, and then one is back online again
properly. Of course then one enables the Symantec Firewall to
protect against Trojan Horse intruders and other malicious
hackers. I also forgot to mention on Sunday evening, I made
up another batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . Well, although
it is a bit warm outside, it is also damp, so I guess I will
remain inside a while to stay more comfortable. I really do not
have much to do when I go out on damp days besides stopping by
the Hospital Thrift Shop and the Library. I guess on Tuesday when
it is free, one could always visit the Bruce Museum. Well, I am
plenty comfortable at home, and when it is damp like today, I can
climb back into bed underneath the comforter, and I can read more
of the Windows XP manual. I have a 3 P.M. appointment this

Wednesday 11:45 P.M.: I was up until 2 A.M. this past morning. I
was up at 11 A.M. today, and I had breakfast of oatmeal, Italian
bread toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I was cold and
tired, so I fell back asleep until 3 P.M. when a friend showed up
to visit. We chatted a while. I cleaned up, and we went out. We
walked from the center of downtown Greenwich Avenue down by the
waterfront and down to the end of Steamboat Road and back to the
center of town. We then stopped by the Food Emporium, and my
friend bought a rib eye steak at $3.99 a pound. We then returned
back to my place. My friend started watching television, and
asked me to turn on the computer to try to get stock quotes. The
computer would not log onto Optimum online. So after rebooting a
few times, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the TCP/IP stack
to no avail. I tried from the Command Prompt ipconfig /release
and ipconfig /renew to no avail. I checked with
a neighbor to see if they were having the same problem. My
backup computer worked just fine. I finally shut down about 8 P.M..
I cooked dinner of broiled rib eye steaks, steamed white rice,
steamed frozen green peas, ice tea, and a cappuccino. My guest
left about 9 P.M., and after I finished my cappuccino about 10 P.M.,
I tried to get the computer to go online, by uninstalling and
reinstalling the TCP/IP stack again along with the Qo S
packet scheduler . I do not install Client for Microsoft
Network, since I am not networking with other computers. I then
called Optimum Online, and while I was waiting for tech support,
I tried disabling the Symantec firewall, and I was able to get
online with Optimum. I then ran Ipconfig /release and
Ipconfig /renew from the command prompt, and the
system was back up and working just fine, and I enabled the
Symantec firewall. I then chatted with Optimum Online tech
support for about 45 minutes, so I could brief them on the
problem, and I chatted a bit of tech. Of course my tech
fixes apply to my particular system with Windows XP Professional.
I will now do a little bit of regular computer work. CIO

yet. I was thinking about the weather, and I was thinking
that perhaps with the warmer than normal winter, we will have a
warmer than normal summer, which would mean warmer Atlantic ocean
waters, which might mean an increased tropical storm season for
the folks down south. I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I
checked out three DVD video disks including one opera. I then

reinstall PaperPort for the Visioneer 4400 USB scanner to get it
to print out a copy of my CompUSA receipt. I enabled web capture
to print out from PaperPort. I registered the Monsoon Audio

Tuesday 1:30 A.M.: I was up at 4 P.M. yesterday. I had breakfast
of oatmeal, Italian bread toast, orange juice, coffee, and
vitamins. I cleaned up, and I went out. I stopped by the ATM
machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I drove
downtown, and I drove by the waterfront. I then drove over to
Radio Shack in Cos Cob. I bought a 4 Stereo Headphone Cable
Y-Adapter for $5.49, a 6 shielded audio cable with 1/8
stereo miniplugs $3.99, a In-Line 1/8 mini-jack coupler for
$3.49 plus .78 tax for $13.75 total. I then went to the
Food Emporium, and I bought two Rib Eye steaks at $3.99 a pound
for $3.71 and $3.23 for $6.94 total. I then returned home. I then
installed the three parts from Radio Shack, so I could hook up my
stereo input more conveniently from the computer at the input
plug on the TDK speaker system. I noticed that the input jacks on
the TDK speaker system were way too loose, so I decided to return
the TDK speaker system. I packed it up in its box. I then went by
the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.
I then drove up to Costco in Norwalk, and I returned the TDK
speaker system for a cash refund for $55.35. I then drove over to
CompUSA in Norwalk which has a larger selection of computer
speakers. I bought the Monsoon Audio System MH-502 Monsoon Audio Systems - MH502 which regularly
sells for $99.99 for $79.99, plus it also has a $30 mailin
rebate, so it will eventually cost me $49.99. I also bought at $5
off a 3.5 inch floppy drive for $14.99 and both items came to $100.68
with $5.70 tax. I then returned home. I put the new 3.5
floppy drive in my primary computer. I then hooked up the Monsoon
MH502 Audio System. It is a heavier system than the TEAC system
that I returned with the same 60 watts. I put the right side
speaker on top of the corner room speakers by the Motorola cable
modem, and I put the left speaker on the CD stand to the left of
the monitor. I put the amplifier subwoofer on the shelf beneath
my computer coffee table. I also put the large power supply
behind the amplifier subwoofer. I have the power supply plugged
into the same extension cord that controls my other speakers and
turns off and on from the control panel. I plugged in the input
to the amplifier subwoofer into one of the two Y plugs coming off
the first sound card speaker jack. The Monsoon Audio System
- MH502 has a power on/off switch and volume control dial on its
input cable that I placed on the keyboard shelf to the right of
my keyboard. The sound is most excellent. I have the
amplifier subwoofer at ¾ volume, and the speaker volume switch
on the cord about half way as well as the computer sound at half
way. I then took the 4 Stereo Headphone Cable Y-Adapter,
and I plugged it into the second speaker jack on my Creative MP3
Live sound card, and from it I hooked up another pair of older
speakers as well as a cable leading to my input cable for the
input into my stereo system amplifier. I have both ends hanging
off the orange and gold mirror on the wall to the left of my
computer for easy connection when one wants to play through the
room stereo system. As usual to do that, the amplifier has to be
set to Phono. I then had a Marie Callendar beef tips dinner
with ice tea and a cappuccino. I then installed my old 3.5
floppy drive I took out of the main computer on my backup
computer to replace the defective 3.5 floppy drive on it.
This all took some time. However, the over sound is quite
superior and comfortable to listen to, particularly when
listening at low volume late at night. I will now fill out the $30
rebate form on the Monsoon Audio System MH502 to have
ready to mail. I took the aroma lamp that was on the corner room
speakers where I put the right Monsoon speaker, and I put the
aroma lamp on the window shelf behind and to the right of the
backup computer. I will then do some regular computer work. CIO

Monday 5:55 A.M.: Well, I finished my regular computer routine. I
will now head off to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 02/18/02
Monday 3:20 A.M.: Since I have not been using the EpsonStylus
Color 880 printer much in the last two months, I cleaned its
nozzles and checked the pattern just to keep the ink in the
machine fluid. It is just fine and ready for use. CIO
Note: <888> 02/18/02
Monday 3:10 A.M.: Since the older Terayon TeraPro cable modem on
the backup computer does not seem to want to work probably since
it is not a DOCIS cable modem, I unplugged it from the power
control center on the backup computer. I placed the backup
computer LAN cable near to the primary computer Motorola Surfer
Pro cable modem, so it is easy to exchange between LAN cables for
either computer should someone need to use the backup computer.
Of course without a cable router, one can not use both at the
same time which would be difficult anyway, since they are
adjacent to each other sharing the same chair. I also connected
on the backup computer the Compaq IJ200 printer to the power
control switch for printer, and I have both speaker systems on
the backup computer on the power control center AUX1 and AUX2. I
also enabled my 74,000 Favorites on the backup computer, which I
did by moving the system folder C:\Windows\Favorites to the
Favorites folders containing my bookmarks. I also turned the
Compaq IJ200 printer across the top of the backup computer CPU,
and I am using the plastic cutting board to support it, so it is
stable and has room for paper to feed out of it. I might surf the
net a bit instead of reading the Windows XP manual right now. CIO
Note: <888> 02/18/02
Monday 2:10 A.M.: I went out for a drive after the last message.
I drove downtown. I noticed the old computer monitors are still
in the lower level train station dumpster. Unless one was
very strong, they would be extremely heavy to lift. I drove down
by the waterfront. I then drove over to CVS in Riverside which is
open 24 hours. I bought two six packs one chicken and one shrimp
of Maruchan instant lunch cups for $1.49 each six pack and a
bottle of cinnamon for $1 for $3.98 total. I then drove back
downtown, and I then returned home. On Sunday nights the Food
Emporium is not open 24 hours. I put the Maruchan instant lunch
cups on the right living room closet shelf. I then took a can of
Progresso chicken broth penna soup, and I put it in the microwave
pot with lid, and I put it in the GE microwave and pressed the
reheat button. I had the soup with a half dozen saltines and ice
tea. I then had a cup of Brazilian instant coffee. I then took
the JVC VCR and the TEAC DVD player off the small dark oak table,
and I moved the small dark oak table back between the desk and
the Epson printer stand. I took four 3 inch thick yellow pages,
and I stacked them two high side by side on the TV chest, and I
put one of the unused entertainment center shelves 28 by 14,
and I put it on top of the telephone books. I then put the TEAC
DVD player on the shelf and then I put the JVC VCR on top of the
TEAC DVD player. I put the tape rewinder on top of the VCR. To
the right of the stacked components, I put the Emerson wireless
headphones which I put rechargeable batteries in. I also put the
Radio Shack battery recharger in the same location. On the left
side and on top I spread around my various remote controls. Thus
the TEAC DVD player and the JVC VCR are stacked lower in front of
the Orion television. This also gives remote control users a
direct line of sight to the Orion television with out having to
raise the remote control higher. I put the plastic cutting board
the VCR was sitting on the lower level of the oak table back with
the other cutting boards in the kitchen. For now I have left the
dark oak table in between both computers empty, but I am sure
over time it will fill up with odds and ends. I will now read
some of the Microsoft Windows XP manual. CIO

Sunday 10:35 P.M.: I videotaped the latest version of National
Geographics Volcano Hunters. I have it on the same tape
that I recorded another National Geographic volcano special on
last week. I put the tape by the Smithsonian volcano book on the
top shelf of the center bookcase in the hallway. I will now go
out for some fresh air. I had some potato chips and Carrs
crackers with Vermont cheddar cheese and ice tea while watching
the Volcano special. I just ran Symantec Live Update. CIO
Note: <888> 02/17/02
Sunday 7:35 P.M.: I was up at 4 P.M. when a relative called. I
had breakfast of three medium boiled eggs, Italian bread toast,
orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I have been watching a bit of
television. I chatted with another relative. I cleaned up. I am
watching television. At 8 P.M., I will videotape the National
Geographic special on MSNBC about Volcanoes at 8 P.M.. CIO

Sunday 1:00 A.M.: I cleaned up after watching some of the Winter
Olympics. I went out. I returned the DVD video at the library
drop. I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue. I sat out
for a while. I then went by the lower level train station
dumpster, and I noticed they have about a dozen six year old 20
inch monitors they have discarded that weigh about 100 pounds
apiece. I do not need one, so I left them there. I drove down by
the waterfront. I then returned home. For dinner I had the rest
of the eye round roast with horseradish, McHilney Tabasco sauce,
and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, steamed white rice,
steamed frozen green peas, and ice tea. I moved the Terayon cable
modem to the left side of the backup computer, and I put a
shorter and heavier cable from the splitter to it. I put the
Compaq IJ200 printer lengthwise on top of the backup computer CPU.
I have not been able to get the Terayon cable modem to go online
recently, but the instructions says it takes up to seven minutes
for it go online, so I will just leave it on and see if it
eventually goes online. The instructions say to leave it on all
the time, but since I hardly ever use it, I do not leave it on
all the time. Perhaps since it is not the Motorola Surfer Pro I
have registered with my main computer, Optimum has blocked it.
Well, I will now do a little bit of regular computer work. A
relative while on vacation sent me a post card of the Mount
Ruapehu, New Zealand volcano erupting at sunset in the mid 1990s.
It is located at Tongariro National Park. CIO
Note: <888> 02/16/02
Saturday 9:00 P.M.: I tightened the antenna connections on the
amplifier tuner, and I adjusted the antennas, and the reception
is a bit better. Possibly some radio stations do not come in as
strongly anymore since the antenna on the World Trade Center is
not there anymore. I can still input from one of the right
speakers on the computer into the stereo system, but the feed is
weak. I should find a female connector to plug into the input in
the TDK woofer that has a split female connector that could
connect to the cable imputing into the stereo as well as the TDK
speaker system. On the primary output jack on the computer sound
card, I have a two way Y splitter with the output to the TDK
speaker system on one of the two outputs, and the second output
has a three way connector with another speaker system connected
to it, and the earplug from the microphone and the headphones
thus the system audio feed weakens a bit. I had my cappuccino. I
am now watching the Winter Olympics. CIO
Note: <888> 02/16/02
Saturday 7:15 P.M.: I watched the DVD movie until midnight last
night. I chatted with a friend during the movie. I went to bed
after the movie, and I was up at 9:30 A.M.. I picked up a loaf of
Italian bread and two croissants downstairs. One of the local
building tenants has a source of day old bread. I then had
breakfast of two croissants, oatmeal, orange juice, vitamins, and
coffee. I fell back asleep until 4 P.M.. I had two hotdogs with
buns and mustard and ketchup, potato chips, dill pickle slice,
and ice tea. I just finished house cleaning and watering the
plants. I also did a C: drive to D: drive backup of the computer
while doing house cleaning. I have to adjust the antenna
connection on my amplifier for the tuner. I will then have a
cappuccino and clean up, and I guess go out for some fresh air.

Friday 8:00 P.M.: I read some news. I sent some messages. I will
now shut down the computer, and I will watch a DVD video. CIO
Note: <888> 02/15/02
Friday 6:45 P.M.: I received two shirts in the mail from a
relative. I went out after the last message. I stopped by the
Valley Road post office, and I mailed some mail; and I also
mailed the book to a relative for $3.13 book rate. I then stopped
by Putnam Trust Bank of New York. I had received a call earlier
in the day that my account slips from Deluxe check printers had
the wrong account number on them, so I got that matter sorted out.
I should be receiving a new batch of slips soon. I then stopped
by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I bought a new Cuisine
Art original food processor without the blade for $7.50. I have
the Classic model at home with a set of blades, so now I have a
backup Cuisine Art. I then went downtown, and I stopped by the
Merry Go Around Mews thrift shop, and I bought a bolt of white
brocade cotton cloth 12 feet long by four feet wide for $5. I
walked around the center of town a bit. I then drove down by the
waterfront. I then drove over to Smokes for Less in Byram, and I
bought three cartons of Seneca Ultra Lights 100s for $19 apiece
or $57 total. I then returned home. I put the new Cusine
Art in the bedroom closet. I put the new piece of white cloth on
the lower half of the long green pattern sofa against the living
room window wall. I had some ice tea, and I relaxed a bit. I then
had dinner of three 1/3 inch thick slices of cold eye round beef
with horseradish, McHilneys Tabasco sauce, Lea and Perrins
Worcestershire sauce, steamed white rice with La Choy low sodium
soy sauce, steamed frozen peas, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I
watched a bit of television. CIO
Note: <888> 02/15/02
Friday 12:20 P.M.: I was up until 5:30 A.M., and I woke up at 10:30
A.M.. I had breakfast of three medium boiled eggs, toast, orange
juice, coffee, and vitamins. I did some paper work. I have been
listening to http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/ram/live_news.ram . The new TDK
Tremor S60 speakers sound great with the existing other two pairs
of speakers. The sound is much clearer and easier to listen
to at a distance. I will now clean up. I will then go out and
mail the book. I will do some other day time activity. CIO
End of Scott's Notes week 02/15/02:
Note: <888> 02/15/02
Friday 2:00 A.M.: I installed the old Advent speaker system on
the backup computer connecting it to the second SoundBlaster AWE
32 speaker plug in hole. I connected the power to the printer
switch on the power control panel with the other pair of speakers
on AUX1. Of course the right speaker does not work with the
Advent system, but the left and the woofer works fine. One has to
plug in the Compaq IJ200 printer into the floor power control
strip to use it. I put the Compaq IJ200 printer on the Terayon
cable modem on the CPU. I adjusted sound settings. I ran Symantec
Live Update and Windows Update on the backup computer. I will now
send out my weekly notes and then after some Vermont extra sharp
cheddar cheese and Carrs crackers and ice tea, I will head
off to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 02/15/02
Friday 12:35 A.M.: After the last message when I had my snack, I
relaxed a bit. I then went out at 7:30 P.M.. I stopped by the ATM
machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then
drove up to Costco in Norwalk. They are open until 8:30 P.M. on
weekdays. I bought a TDK TDK:Tremor S60 Speaker
system regularly $75 for $49.99, and I also bought a RCA AM/FM
clock radio RP3721 for $19.99 plus 5% non member charge of $3.50
plus $4.41 sales tax for $77.89 total. I then drove back to
Greenwich, and I drove by the waterfront. I then stopped by the
ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I
then went to the Exxon station next to the library, and I bought
$7.25 of premium at $1.499 a gallon. I then returned home. I took
out the old Advent speaker system that was defective, and I
installed the new TDK Tremor S60 system. I put the bass woofer on
the floor to my left side next to the box that holds my left side
mouse pad, so it can reverberate off the wooden box. I put the
right speaker on the right side of the CPU in front of the other
two speakers, and I put the left speaker on the left side on the
monitor on the keyboard drawer shelf holder. I connected them to
the SoundBlaster Live MP3 audio card as the front speakers on the
fist audio output jack, and I have another pair with splitters on
the same jack along with the microphone ear piece and the
headphones. I have another pair of Jensen speakers on the second
jack set up as the rear speakers. I adjusted the TDK woofer
audio to midrange, and I adjusted the other audio settings, and
it all sounds just great. I installed the RCA clock radio next to
my bed, and I set it up. I put the older Panasonic clock radio on
my older Sony color television in the kitchen. This all took a
while. Since the Advent speaker system I took off the computer
does not work on the right side, but the woofer and left side
works, I will probably connect it to my backup computer. I will
start doing that now. After I do that, I will probably head off
to bed. CIO
Note: <888> 02/14/02
Thursday 6:30 P.M.: I watched television this morning. About 6 A.M.,
I had two hotdogs with buns and ketchup and mustard, a dill
pickle slice, potato chips, and ice tea. I rested until noon. I
checked the mail. I had a Marie Callander beef tips meal, ice
tea, a slice of cake and an instant Brazilian coffee. I made my 3
P.M. appointment. I stopped by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.
I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I returned a DVD video
disk. Downstairs in the snack bar area, they have discarded
library books for sale for .25 apiece. I bought two for .50. I
then went by Var Max liquor pantry just across the Greenwich,
Connecticut and the Port Chester, New York border on U.S. 1, and
I bought a 1.5 liter bottle of Rene Junot white wine for $5.99
plus .40 tax for $6.39 total. I returned home. I put the Rene
Junot white wine in the refrigerator to chill to have it in
reserve for hospitality occasions. I then package up one of the
books to send to a relative book rate, when I have a chance to
mail it tomorrow. I relaxed a bit. I will now have some Vermont
extra sharp cheddar cheese with Carrs crackers and ice tea.
Note: <888> 02/14/02
Thursday 2:55 A.M.: I will shut down the computer now. I will now
read the Windows XP manual or I will watch some television or I
will rest and get back on a day schedule. I have a 3 P.M.
appointment today. CIO
Note: <888> 02/14/02
Thursday 2:15 A.M.: I noticed in the finals of the Westminster
Kennel Club dog show, there was a Corgi from Volcano, California.
I did a little research, and I came up with this web site of a
local hotel there with reference information The St. George Hotel . It says that
the place was named Volcano, California since it looked like a
Volcano, but it does not say whether there is actually a volcano
there. Still judging from the locality it would be a nice place
to sip a glass of wine. It says the hotel charges an extra $150
if one smokes in their room. I have sifted through my
email, and I will now start working on www.geocities.com/mikelscott/scotwork.htm . CIO

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PRESS RELEASE
A DATE WITH DISASTER:
VOLCANO HUNTERS RACE TO PREDICT
DEADLY VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS
National Geographic EXPLORER's Volcano Hunters Premieres
Sunday, February 17 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT only on MSNBC
(Washington, DC February 12, 2002) In the aftermath
of Congo's current
Nyiragongo volcano crisis, scientists and researchers from all
over the
world are racing to find clues that will help predict future
deadly
eruptions. On Sunday, February 17, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m.
PT on MSNBC,
EXPLORER joins two courageous volcano hunters, Steve and Donna
O'Meara, for
two perilous weeks atop one of the world's most active hot spots,
Stromboli, in Italy's Aeolian Islands. Supported by the
National
Geographic Society, the husband and wife team set out to
investigate an
ancient and controversial lunar theory that they believe will
contribute to
the science of predicting eruptions and may save lives.
Off the northern coast of Sicily, Stromboli's
summit is a forbidding
landscape of craggy rocks frequently shrouded in clouds of toxic
gas. Hot
ash rains down as sulfuric vapors overtake the fresh air.
EXPLORER follows
the O'Mearas through smoke and ash to collect hard data to prove
that some
volcanic eruptions follow a pattern based on the moon's
gravitational pull,
much like the ebb and flow of the ocean's tides.
Ascending the smoking,
belching Stromboli volcano takes courage, tenacity, and perhaps a
touch of
madness. Ignoring critics who doubt such a lunar
correlation exists, the
O'Mearas push on, determined to find out if the moon is indeed
tugging at
the earth's molten core.
Volcanoes have killed close to a quarter
million people in the past 500
years. The most catastrophic events can not only level entire
towns -- as
Nyiragongo did in Congo last month -- but can also wipe out
animals large
and small in the surrounding areas -- as Mount St. Helens did
here in the
United States in 1980. If the O'Mearas' observations at
Stromboli are
viable, their continuing work could impact crisis aid and
conservation
efforts while forever shifting the study of volcanoes.
The eruption last summer of Europe's tallest active
volcano is the
subject of "Etna Ignites," the cover story of the
February 2002 issue of
National Geographic magazine.

Note: <888> 02/13/02
Wednesday 11:40 P.M.: I went to bed at 6 A.M. this morning after
watching some television. I had a telephone call from a family
member about noon. About 4 P.M. I got up, and I dressed, and I
went to the Valley Road post office, and I mailed the Westminster
Kennel Club dog show video tape priority mail to a relative for $3.50.
I then returned to my apartment, and I had breakfast of oatmeal,
toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I fell back asleep
until 9 P.M.. I started watching the Winter Olympics. I also had
dinner of three half inch slices of cold eye round beef with
horseradish, McHilneys Tabasco sauce, and Lea and Perrins
Worcestershire sauce, steamed white rice with La Choy low sodium
soy sauce, steamed frozen peas, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I just
finished watching the Winter Olympics. I will now do some regular
computer work. CIO
Note: <888> 02/13/02
Wednesday 1:55 A.M.: I finished reading for the night. I will now
head off to bed briefly. CIO
Note: <888> 02/13/02
Wednesday 12:05 A.M.: I had a piece of cake. I sent out an email.
CIO
Note: <888> 02/12/02
Tuesday 11:40 P.M.: I finished watching the dog show. I chatted
with a friend. I packaged the dog show videotape to mail to
a relative. One can not put Priority Mail packages in the mail
box at the post office, so I will have to mail it tomorrow. I
guess I will start reading the Microsoft Windows XP manual.
Yesterday, when I went out, I also ran Norton AntiVirus 2002 on
the C: drive. CIO
Note: <888> 02/12/02
Tuesday 9:10 P.M.: I was up until 5 A.M. yesterday. I got up at 1:30
P.M. this afternoon. I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast, orange
juice, coffee, and vitamins. I went out, and I stopped by
Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I then went by the
Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. I next drove downtown, and I
stopped by the waterfront. I then walked lower Greenwich Avenue.
I then went to the Greenwich Library. I checked out one of two
copies of Microsoft Windows XP Limited Edition manual. I then
returned home. I chatted with a friend. I then read some of
Microsoft Windows XP manual. About 7 P.M. for dinner I had
four 1/3 inch thick slices of cold eye round beef with
horseradish, McHilneys Tabasco sauce, and Lea and Perrins
Worcestershire sauce, and steamed white rice, and steamed frozen
Brussels sprouts, ice tea, and a cappuccino. At 8 P.M., I started
watching The Westminster Kennel
Club , and I am also
videotaping it for a relative who is busy this evening. I will go
back to watching the dog show. I remember in February 1983 on my
way back from Florida before going up to Norway, I walked through
Pennsylvania Station, and in New York then after about two feet
of snow, I saw the Westminster Kennel Club dog show letting out,
and the train station was full of dogs. CIO
Note: <888> 02/12/02
Tuesday 1:00 A.M.: I finished watching the Winter Olympics. I
watched a bit of other television. I will now watch a DVD video
movie. CIO
Note: <888> 02/11/02
Monday 10:30 P.M.: I went out, and I mailed the letter at the
Valley Road post office. I then stopped by the Greenwich Library.
I returned two DVD video movies, and I checked out two DVD video
movies. I also read the Wall Street Journal and P.C. Magazine. I
then drove down by the waterfront. I then walked lower Greenwich
Avenue. I then stopped by the Stop and Shop. I bought two half
gallons of Tropicana orange juice with Calcium at $1.99 a half
gallon, four 28 cans of TuttoRosso crushed tomatoes .50 a can,
two Marie Callander beef tips dinner $2 each, a eye round roast $2.99
a pound $9.12, and Lays Wavy potato chips large bag $1.49 for $20.59
total. I then returned home. I coated both sides of the eye round
roast with ground black pepper, garlic powder, chicken and meat
seasoning, celery salt, Italian spices, Basil, oregano, and Texas
Best barbeque sauce, and I am cooking it at 325 degrees
Fahrenheit for 50 minutes in the convection oven. I will have a
few 1/3 inch slices of the eye round for dinner with steamed
white rice and steamed frozen Brussels sprouts, ice tea, and a
cappuccino. I am watching the Winter Olympics also. CIO
Note: <888> 02/11/02
Monday 7:35 P.M.: I finished the letter. I will now go out
and mail it, and I will also stop by the library. When updating
this note on the remote server with the older version of FTP Pro,
I have to temporarily disable the Symantec Firewall to get it to
work. This was not the case with the latest version of FTP Pro
which I do not feel like buying after the trail period ended.
Remember to stay warm this evening. I turned up the
apartment thermostat two degrees to 74 degrees Fahrenheit to warm
up the apartment on this cold evening. CIO
Note: <888> 02/11/02
Monday 6:25 P.M.: I went to bed at 4:30 A.M., and I was up at 4:30
P.M.. I had a telemarketing call from a resort in Florida about
noon. I checked the mail, and my check from the Greenwich
Hardware store came for the coffee machine I returned. I had
breakfast of oatmeal, toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins.
I watched some of the Winter Olympics for a while. I cleaned up.
I put another 15 watt candelabra bulb in the right part of the
right sconce on the living room wall adjacent to the hallway. I
also changed the center living room lamp bulb from 15 watts to 40
watts. I will now write a Valentines letter to a family
member. CIO
Note: <888> 02/11/02
Monday 2:25 A.M.: I relaxed a bit. I watched some television. I
sifted through my email. I went through www.geocities.com/mikelscott/scotwork.htm . I will now
watch a bit of television, and then possibly I will try to go to
bed. It is interesting in that my computer says it is 53 degrees
Fahrenheit outside, and the weather report on television this
afternoon says we are suppose to go down into the teens tonight.
I guess we must be on the edge of a weather front. Well have a
good morning. CIO
Note: <888> 02/10/02
Sunday 11:25 P.M.: I have been watching the Winter Olympics. For
dinner, I had a Stauffers Salisbury steak and macaroni
dinner and a fish filet and macaroni dinner with ice tea and a
slice of cake. I noticed while watching the opening ceremonies, I
have the Dutch flag hanging vertically backwards in my apartment
from the curtain rod on the living room windows, so I changed it
around, so when it hangs vertically the orange stripe is on the
left and the blue stripe is on the right with the white stripe in
the center. Well, I now will do a bit of computer work. CIO
Note: <888> 02/10/02
Sunday 10:05 P.M.: After the last message, I napped until 3 P.M..
I got up and I had a couple of hotdogs with buns and ketchup and
mustard, potato chips, dill pickle slice, slice of cake and ice
tea. My guest and I went for a drive. We walked lower
Greenwich Avenue. We drove down by the waterfront. We stopped by
Staples in Old Greenwich. We came back to my apartment. We had
cappuccino. We have been watching the Winter Olympics. My guest
just left. I will go back to watching the Winter Olympics. I tied
up the Cablevision cord coming out of the living room wall, so I
do not get video lines on the television. CIO

Sunday 9:40 A.M.: I had a friend stop by yesterday after
the last message. We went out for a drive down by the waterfront.
We stopped by the Food Mart in Cos Cob, and we bought two salmon
steaks for $3.99 a pound. We then returned back to my apartment.
We watched some of the Winter Olympics on television.
I rubbed the Salmon steaks in olive oil, and I put them in a
Pyrex baking disk. I added about a third of a cup of lemon juice,
and I seasoned them with Italian spices, Oregano, and Basil. I
baked them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes. About
7 P.M., we had the salmon steaks for dinner with steamed white
rice and steamed frozen mixed vegetables and ice tea. We then
watched the DVD video disk Broadcast News, and then
we watched some more of the Winter Olympics. We went to bed about
10:30 A.M., and I was awake at 7:30 A.M.. We had breakfast of
three scrambled eggs each, French bread toast with margarine,
orange juice, vitamins, and coffee. It is a bit damp today,
but we will figure out something to do. CIO

Saturday 2:50 P.M.: I was up at 9:30 A.M.. I checked the mail,
and I picked up a loaf of French bread from downstairs. I had
breakfast of three medium boiled eggs, toast, orange juice,
coffee, and vitamins. I just finished watering the plants and
cleaning the apartment. I am just about ready to put away a new
batch of ice tea www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm . I just had
lunch of two hotdogs with buns and ketchup and mustard, dill
pickle, potato chips, piece of cake, and ice tea. I am throwing
out the rest of the Purdue oven stuffer roaster chicken since it
is over three days old. After I put away the ice tea, I
will have a cup of cappuccino. I will then clean up and go out
for some fresh air. This should be in about an hour. CIO

Saturday 1:45 A.M.: I was up at 2:30 P.M. yesterday. I had
breakfast of oatmeal, toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins.
I checked the mail. I moved the oil filled electric radiators
back into the bedroom since I have not been using them this
warmer winter. I also put the Radio Shack battery charger to the
right side of the TEAC DVD Multi Player. I cleaned up, and I
drove downtown. I walked lower Greenwich Avenue. I drove down by
the waterfront. I stopped by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank
of New York on Mason Street. I went by the Greenwich Library, and
I returned the four DVD videos I checked out yesterday, and I
checked out two more and I also checked out a book. I stopped by
Exxon, and I bought $9.50 of premium at $1.499 a gallon. I
returned home. I did three loads of laundry. I started watching
the Winter Olympics 2002 from Salt Lake City, Utah and its
opening ceremonies. I started videotaping them about 9 P.M. until
the end at midnight. It took one and a half videotapes. I had
some two plates of Vermont cheese and Land O Lakes cheese and
crackers while watching them along with ice tea. I had a bit of
tummy trouble or indigestion, so I took a Tums antacid pill. I
found these internet links from the Wellcome Trust on the Human
Genome Project Ensembl Genome Server , Human Genome Working Draft, EBI, the European
Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL Outstation, Hinxton, UK) serving
the bioinformatics community , NCBI , DDBJ . Well, I am
tired, so I guess I will go to bed shortly. Have a good morning.

Friday 4:35 A.M.: I was up at 1 P.M. yesterday. I had breakfast
of three medium boiled eggs, toast, orange juice, coffee, and
vitamins. I cleaned up, and I went down, and I signed my lease
for the next year. I then went over to my 3 P.M. appointment. I
next went by the Hospital Thrift shop. I then drove down by the
waterfront. I then stopped by the ATM at Putnam Trust Bank of New
York on Mason Street. I next stopped by the Greenwich library. I
then went by the ATM again at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on
Mason Street. I then drove up to Costco in Norwalk, Connecticut.
I use the ATM machine at Costco. I the bought two packages of
five boxes of Carrs crackers for $5.59 each package. I also
bought a major purchase. I bought a TEAC 5 disk carrousel DVD
Multi Player model DV-M5000 for $149.99 plus I paid a 5%
surcharge of $8.06 since I was using a one day Costco card plus $9.45
tax for $178.68 total. I then returned to Greenwich, and I
stopped by the Greenwich Library, and I checked out four DVD
videos. I then returned home. I had dinner of two slices of cold
chicken with Tabasco sauce, steamed white rice, steamed green
beans, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I then proceeded to install the
TEAC DVD player. First I removed the old Zenith short-wave radio
from the TV chest. I took out the small dark oak table from the
right of the primary computer, and I put it on top of the TV
chest. I put the old Zenith short-wave radio in the bedroom
closet. I put the blood pressure tester machine on the right side
of the bedroom desk. I put the JVC videotape machine on a piece
of plastic on the lower level of the dark oak table. I put the
new TEAC DVD machine on top of the dark oak table underneath the
television. I hooked up the TEAC DVD Multi Player to the Orion 25
inch television with the yellow, red and white audio and video
RCA jack cables that came with the TEAC DVD Multi Player. I
plugged it in, and it turned on. It took me some time and
fiddling to figure out that I needed to use the remote control on
the Orion TV to select TV/AV to have the TEAC video
feed go into the Orion TV. I connected the red and white audio
cables with RCA Y male to two female adaptors, and I plugged the
other set of cables into the VCR input on the Technics amplifier,
so I can play audio through my stereo system. I setup the Setup
on the TEAC DVD Multi Player. Basically this all took some time,
since I had to search for certain items, and I had to move other
items around. I put the large button telephone on the arm of the
couch adjacent to the television. I moved the tape rewinder on
top of the JVC VCR. I moved the Emerson wireless headphone on top
of the VCR. I tested the TEAC DVD Multi Player, and it works just
fine. Since it has a five disk carrousel, one can listen or watch
five different disks. I then put the 50 CD rack in between the
day bed and the blue couch. I put the nine boxes of Bigelow tea
on the shelf in the right living room closet. This all took some
time, and I was finally done about 3:30 A.M.. I then had two
hotdogs with buns and ketchup and mustard, potato chips, dill
pickle slice, slice of cake, and ice tea. I will now send out my
weekly notes and go to bed. Have a good morning. CIO

Wednesday 9:15 P.M.: I went out after the last message, and
I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store. I gave them my receipt
for returning the coffee maker, and they said they would send me
the check. I have copies of the receipt. I bought a package two
sets of two inch by four inch Velcro patches for $3.99 plus .24
tax for $4.23. I will use some to install the paper holder fork
on the backup computer monitor. I then drove by the Greenwich
Hospital Thrift shop. I next drove down by the waterfront. I then
drove around Tods Point. I then went to Staples in Old
Greenwich and the HP LaserJet paper is the same price I paid for
it two weeks ago, $7.99 minus a dollar for $6.99. Thus if I saw
right, they have a good sale on it at Staples in Port Chester,
New York for $3.99. I then stopped by Radio Shack at the
Riverside shopping center. I then went to CVS at the Riverside
shopping center, and I bought two round tins of Danish Absolute
Divine cookies for $1.99 each tin, a two pack of Dove soap for
sensitive skin for $2.37, and two white Djeep lighters for $1.89
each plus .37 tax for $10.50 total. I then returned home. I had a
frosted Diet Coke in a frosted mug. I watched the ABC evening
news. I had dinner of cold slices of Purdue chicken with
McIlHenny Tabasco sauce, steamed white rice with La Choy low
sodium soy sauce, steamed frozen green beans, ice tea, and a
cappuccino. I then chatted with a friend. I will now put on the
paper holder clip on the backup computer monitor with the Velcro
strips. I will then do a little bit of regular computer work. CIO

Wednesday 1:55 P.M.: Well today is the beginning of the

Ronald Reagans 91st
birthday, and one can email Mrs. Reagan at Ronald Reagan Presidential
Foundation & Library-Welcome . I was up
at 11 A.M. when I had breakfast of orange juice, French bread
toast, coffee, vitamins, and oatmeal. I watched a bit of
television. It said on Burt Wolfs cooking show that Donald
Trumps grandfather use to run a restaurant in the Klondike.
I called the Greenwich Hardware store about getting the check for
$111.30 for the coffee machine I returned two weeks ago, and they
called me back and said they had lost the receipt. They want me
to bring in the receipt, so they can copy it. I made extra copies
of the receipt to have myself which I can do with the Visioneer
scanner and Epson printer. I guess I will now clean up and go out
for some daytime activity. CIO

Tuesday 9:20 P.M.: I went out, and I drove down by the waterfront.
I stopped by the Greenwich Library. I went by Putnam Trust Bank
of New York on Mason Street, and I used the ATM machine. I next
stopped by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 42 ounce container
of Quaker old fashioned oats for $3.99, a large 12.25 ounce bag
of Wise potato chips for $1.99, a quart jar of Vlassic kosher
dill pickle spears for $1.99, a Stauffers regular Salisbury

two jars of S&S Manz Spanish olives .99, buy one get one free
of Khans beef franks $3.69 both, S&S 10 package of dry
milk $5.49 for $28.50. I then went across the street, and I
bought two half gallons of Florida Natural orange juice with
calcium for $2.50 each, buy get one free of Pepperidge Farm
frozen layer cakes for $3.69 both, two AC frozen green beans, two
AC frozen peas, two AC frozen mixed vegetables for $4 all or .66
each, four packages of I Cant Believe Its Not Butter
light .99 each, two Louis Rich turkey franks .99 each, a 5 ounce
bottle of McIlHenney Tabasco sauce $2.99, and a Purdue oven
stuffer roaster at .79 a pound for $6.29 for $29.66 total. I then
returned home, and I put away my groceries. I then rinsed off and
dried the Purdue oven stuffer roaster removing the giblets from
inside which I throw away outside right away since I do not use
them, and I dont want them to stink. I put the chicken rack
in a roasting pan, and I seasoned the top side of the chicken
with ground black pepper, garlic powder, celery salt, poultry and
meat seasoning, Italian spices, Oregano, and Basil. I then
covered the chicken with the rest of the Bulls Eye barbeque sauce
and some more Texas Best Barbeque sauce about a half cup all
together. I then put it in the convection oven for about one hour
and a half to one hour and forty minutes until the bird water
thermometer pops up. It should be ready in about a half hour. I
will have slices of it for dinner with reheated steamed rice and
steamed frozen peas, and ice tea. It is a bit nippy out, so
stay warm. CIO

Tuesday 2:15 P.M.: This morning before going to bed, I sifted
through old newspapers and periodicals throwing out old ones.
I move the ceiling panel with the First Alert smoke detector over
one panel away from the kitchen to keep the smoke detector from
going off when I use the toaster oven. I disconnected the center
living room window wall lamp with the 15 watt bulb, and I
connected it to the control panel that controls the other two
adjacent lamps, so it comes on and off with the entry light
switch. With the lava mood lamp on all the time, I do not need
the other lamp on all the time. The lava mood lamp gives off a
redish rose light. Before going to bed, I had two hot dogs with
buns and ketchup and mustard, potato chips, dill pickle, and ice
tea. I cooked them in the microwave cookware I bought. I finally
went to bed about 6:30 A.M.. I was up at 11 A.M.. I checked the
mail. I had breakfast of three medium boiled eggs, French bread
toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins. I noticed it is
cooler today. While at Wal-Mart on last Saturday in north Norwalk
on Route 7, I noticed they have the oil filled electric radiators
for $40. I made a telephone call about a matter to do with
the building. I have some paper work to do today before going out.

Tuesday 1:05 A.M.: Today, while I was in Staples in Port Chester,
New York a nice couple were asking about page holders for the
side of the computer monitor. I showed them at the clearance area
there was a package that was on sale for $10 that came with a
page holder, cable separators, air duster, and 15 inch glare
screen. This evening, I remembered that I had a Kensington page
holder for the side of the monitor. I got it out, and I had a
piece of Velcro to attach it to the upper right side of my
primary computer monitor. It seems to on there quite
securely, since I can not even separate the two pieces of Velcro
easily to take it off should I need to. It would probably also
hold a magazine or other light publication for typing from. I
have a fork page holder that I thought about attaching to the
backup monitor, but I do not have anymore Velcro. Velcro strips
are available at the Greenwich Hardware store. I then sorted out
my recent print outs, and I put them all underneath the Epson
Stylus Color 880 printer. I sorted out the scratch paper from the
print outs, and I added it to the existing pile of scratch paper.
All together I have about three to four reams of scratch paper,
usually with one side used. I put the large pile of scratch paper
on the square Danish table on my bedroom desk. I move the unused
ream of HP LaserJet paper underneath my Epson printer on top of
the old HP95 cartridge that I saved. I put the package of regular
paper there also, with a note in it saying it is not HP LaserJet
paper, although it is wrapped in a HP LaserJet wrapper. I am out
of empty boxes to put paper in. I still have the open box of HP
Laser Jet Paper in a box wrapped in plastic wrap in the same
location. I ran Symantec Live Update to update my antivirus file
and other Symantec files. The lava mood lamp seems to be
working fine. While at Staples in Port Chester today, I noticed
they have 600 page reams of HP LaserJet paper on sale for $3.99
down from the $6.99 apiece I paid for two reams of the same paper
at Staples in Old Greenwich about two weeks ago. I also labeled
the open HP LaserJet paper in the Southworth box I have in a
plastic bag underneath the Epson printer. CIO

Monday 10:05 P.M.: I went out this afternoon about 2 P.M..
I stopped by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop. I then
went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I next
drove over to the central Greenwich Post Office. I obtained three
money orders at .90 apiece to pay my Verizon telephone, Optimum
Online, and Cablevision bills. I also bought twenty U.S.A. flag
stamps at .34 apiece for $6.80. The postal clerk
commented the number 888 had been coming up in her mind quite a
bit recently. I then made my 4:30 P.M. appointment. I next drove
down by the waterfront. I then went over to Port Chester, New
York to the shopping center, and I stopped by Staples, and I
bought a Holmes Mood Lava lamp silver base with red lava affect
marked down from $20 for $6 plus .41 tax for $6.41 total. I
stopped by Odd Job. I noticed they have the large First Alert
fire extinguisher on sale down from $40 for $25. They have
a large selection of different items. I bought a four container
20 bag per container package of Ceylon Tea of Raspberry Herbal,
Peppermint Herbal, Chamomile Herbal, and Serendip Green tea for $4.99
for all four containers, five containers of 3.52 ounce Golden
Brazil Classic Arabica instant coffee at $1.19 a container, two
19 ounce containers of Texas Best Cajun sauce for $1.99 each, a
three pack of Sahara Club white mens crew socks 80% cotton,
16% polyester, 4% Elastic for $3.99 and a 3 pack of the same crew
socks white, gray, and black pairs for $3.99. They are made in
Pakistan. I also bought a three pack of mens Empire dark
dress socks 70% Acrylic 30% polyester made in India for $2.99
plus .30 tax for $26.19 total. I then returned home. I put the
mood lava lamp in front of the air conditioner underneath the
lamp with the Victorian lamp shade. I relaxed a bit. I then had
dinner of reheated boneless chicken breast from two nights ago,
steamed white rice, steamed frozen green peas, ice tea, and some
of the Brazilian instant coffee. I chatted with a friend. Earlier
in the evening, I unpacked the microwave cooking ware I got last
Saturday, and I put it on top of the microwave oven. I
noticed at the Clearance section at Staples in Port Chester, New
York they have a number of computer items I do not need. They
have the $400 automobile CD guidance system for $100 for example.

left at 8 A.M.. I was up at 11 A.M.. I chatted with a relative. I
had breakfast of oatmeal, French bread toast, orange juice,
coffee, and vitamins. I checked the mail. I will look at a few
computer pages, and then I will get ready to go out. I have

Sunday 11:00 P.M.: I had a busy day today. My guest, and I
were up at 8 A.M.. We had breakfast of French bread toast, orange
juice, coffee, 3 scrambled eggs apiece, and vitamins. We cleaned
up, and we departed for Manhattan about 11 A.M.. We drove into
Manhattan on I-95 and we got off the Bruckner Boulevard, and we
took the Willis Avenue Bridge into Manhattan. We got off
the 71st exit of the
FDR drive, and my friend made a stop at 72nd
Street on the East side. We then parked on 81st
just west of Madison Avenue facing the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
We walked down Madison Avenue, and we stopped by at the Madison
Avenue Presbyterian Church and we attended the end of the Sunday
service. The United States Navy choir was there for the service.
It was most enjoyable to hear the music. We then walked down to
70th street and we
toured some of 70th
street, and then we walked over to Fifth Avenue, and we walked
back up to the Metropolitan Museum. We met our friends at 1 P.M.,
and we toured the Metropolitan Museum and its various exhibits
until about 2:30 P.M.. It was most enjoyable since I had not been
there in about 12 years. We then all headed down Central Park and
we went to the boat basin to the boat house restaurant for coffee
and a half of roast beef sandwich. We then walked around
the miniature sailboat pond, and we then walked over to Park
Avenue down to 70th
street, and we toured the John D. Rockefeller art gallery at the
Asian institute. We then toured some more of 70th
street, and then we toured the Frick Museum. We listened to
a guitar recital. I noticed they have the original Rembrandt
Polish rider painter at the Frick museum that I have a copy of in
my apartment. About 6:30 P.M., we headed walking down
Madison Avenue viewing the shops and the offices. Around 55th
street we headed east to Park Avenue, and we saw the large
security presence around the Waldorf Astoria for the World
Economic conference. There was only security and no
protestors. We had to detour back to Madison Avenue, and we
walked down to Biltmore Street and Vanderbilt Avenues opposite
Grand Central Station, and we toured the Yale Club. In the
reception room upstairs at the Yale Club, they have the portraits
of the four former Presidents that have attended Yale University.
I did not see a picture of the current president whom I believe
attended Yale University also. We then walked through and
toured Grand Central station including a pub called Campbells
on the southwest corner of the station. We walked south to 41st
Street and Park Avenue, and then walked west a half block to the
Peking restaurant and we all had a very enjoyable dinner of four
different Chinese meals along with tea and rice. After
dinner, we then walked back through Grand Central Station, and we
viewed the Missing Persons pictures posted after 911 on the
concourse. We went down to the Subway, and we got MTA passes, and
then we walked over to Madison Avenue and 42nd
street. We said good bye to our friends, and we caught the M1 bus
uptown to 79th
street, and we retrieved the car, and we drove back out to
Connecticut via the FDR drive north to the Willis Avenue bridge
to Bruckner Boulevard to I-95 east and back to Byram area of
Greenwich, Connecticut. I had a frosted Diet coke in a frosted
mug when I returned, and my guest headed off to bed. I washed my
feet to get the salt off of them. I will now head off to bed
myself. In all it was a very enjoyable day, and a healthy
change from the country, although it involved quite a bit more
walking than normally in Greenwich. Well have a good night. CIO

Saturday 10:05 P.M.: My guest and I left at 4:30 P.M.. My guest
discovered he had lost a car molding part at a car wash in
Norwalk, so we drove up to Route 7 in North Norwalk, and we
retrieved the part. We then went to Wal-Mart on Route 7 on the
Norwalk Wilton border. I bought a pair of Farah white
khaki pleated pants waist 40 by 30 length for $15.97
and I also bought a 10 piece Amberware microwave cook set for $9.97
plus .60 tax for $26.54 total. My friend bought epoxy glue
for the car molding part. We then returned to Greenwich, and I
stopped by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on
Mason Street. We then went to the Food Emporium, and I bought two
13 ounce bags of A&P regular coffee beans, and two of
balanced blend each for $1.69 a bag for $6.76 total. We then
returned back to my place. I mixed the coffee beans with my
existing batch of coffee beans, and I now have 7 quart jars of
coffee beans for my regular blend. I put the Avocado seed
in the jar in water in the community room. I noticed that the
Avocado plant I put down there some time ago is no longer there
anymore. We watched television. My friend at the Food
Emporium bought Purdue boneless breast of chicken for $2.99 a
pound and several packages of frozen peas. I cooked the chicken
the same way I had earlier in the week along with steamed rice
and steamed frozen peas, and we had it all for dinner with ice
tea. We then watched television. I finished off a bag of potato
chips. I called a friend in Manhattan to verify meeting them in
the City tomorrow. Well my guest will stay down tonight, and I
will probably head off to bed in another hour. CIO

Saturday 3:35 P.M.: I finished the house cleaning and watering
the plants. A friend showed up about 1 P.M. and is taking a
nap. I used four tooth picks, and I pushed them into the avocado
seed I saved, and I have it sitting in a jar of water above the
kitchen sink. I will try to start an avocado plant. I have a
nearly dead plant in the community room that I can put the
avocado seed in its pot should it successfully geminate. I will
now clean up, and my guest I will go out for some daytime
activity. CIO

Saturday 12:30 P.M.: Well, I guess Willem and Maxima are hitched.
I guess CNN could not afford to cover the event. More than
likely since Willem is a member of the International Olympic
committee, he and Maxima might be coming to the United States to
Salt Lake City for the Winter Olympics. Perhaps they will
be stopping by New Amsterdam on their way. I will be going to New
Amsterdam tomorrow Sunday to visit some friends. We will
probably go the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is an afternoon
concert at the Frick museum. Possibly we will have coffee
at the boat house in Central Park and maybe stopped by the Yale
club for a drink. I have not been in New Amsterdam in the day
time for about 12 years. Of course up until nine years ago, I use
to go in their at night as part of the New Amsterdam Dutch night
watch, so possibly old wooden shoe makers and wind mill watchers
might remember me. I was up at 11 A.M.. I checked the mail.
I picked up a loaf of French bread from the donations left out at
the front hallway table. I had breakfast of three medium boiled
eggs, French bread toast, orange juice, coffee, and vitamins.
I am listening to www.radio10.fm to keep up with
the events in old Amsterdam. Alas, I do not understand Dutch, but
I enjoy listening to the music on the 22 speakers in my apartment
hooked up to the computer internet music. It says on the Royal
Dutch household site, that Willem regularly goes to Aruba and the
Netherlands Antilles, so perhaps they might go down there before
the Winter Olympics. I have a Holland flag displayed in my

Union Jack. Well, it is Saturday like any ever efficient Dutch

Saturday 12:15 A.M.: I went out, and I mailed the letter at the
Valley Road post office box. I drove down by the waterfront.
There was construction debris blowing around in the high wind on
Steamboat Road at the Del a Mar Hotel construction site. It is
rather confusing on the exterior of the new façade in that some
of the rooms have full length opening doors on the upper floors
on the exterior, but there are no balconies. So unless they plan
to install balconies, guests more than likely would be able to
fall out of their room windows should they venture out the glass
door windows unless they are for appearances and do not open. It
looked like both the Food Emporium and the Stop and Shop were
both closed. I relaxed a bit when I got back, and I am now having
an ice tea. Well Happy Ground Hogs Day. Also today is
Prince Wilhelms of the Netherlands of the House of Orange
wedding to his Argentinean bride Nationaal Oranje Comité . I suppose they
will be partying and having lots of festive activities in the

I checked the mail. I had breakfast of oatmeal, rye toast, orange
juice, coffee, and vitamins. I went back to bed until 3 P.M.. I
had a couple of hotdogs with buns and mustard and ketchup, potato
chips, dill pickle, ice tea, and a cappuccino. I cleaned up, and
I went out. I drove by the waterfront. I stopped by the ATM
machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street. I went
by Exxon, and I bought $8.60 of premium at $1.499 a gallon. I
went over to Smokes for Less in Byram, and I bought three cartons
of Seneca ultra lights 100s for $19 a carton for $57 total. I
noticed they have buy three get two free of Marlboros for $12 a
five pack or $24 a carton. I returned home. I finished running
Norton SpeedDisk on the backup computer. It takes time because of
the 74,000 favorites. I also enabled the telephone modem on the
backup computer, so if the cable modem is down, I could dialup to
Juno. Juno has a local number in Greenwich for its free access. I
am watching the ABC evening news now. CIO
