Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 11:35 A.M.:  The stew is still good on the third day.   I checked my mail, but it still has not come.   It usually comes a little later on Monday.   I will now install the Vista Longhorn Server beta 3 on the Epox computer, and then I will install it on the FIC server.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 11:05 A.M.:   I went outside, and I checked the air filter on the Buick, and it looks fairly new.    I lubricated some linkages.   I took the black electric tape of the front license plate frame.   The mend that I did with the CVS Super Glue gel seems to have held.   I have a bit driver on top of my tool case underneath the telephone chair in the apartment.   I used the small star bit to lower a driver's side head light which seems to have been a bit too high.   I will check it the next time I drive at night.   The engine underneath the hood of the Buick is very dirty on its exterior, but I have been advised to not steam clean automobile engines, which can cause electrical damage, and I have been told the grime build up helps protect the engine.    I chatted with a relative.   Monday commute problems ahead after highway collapse - CNN.com .    I had forgotten to set the wall clock by the apartment entrance ahead one hour when daylight savings time went into effect, so I just made the adjustment.   I will now eat the last 1.5 cups of the defrosted portion the steak and vegetable stew that I made a few days ago.   I will eat it with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 9:35 A.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped the ATM machine at the Chase Bank on Mason Street.   I returned a CVS shopping cart from their driveway back to CVS.   After my walk, I walked lower Greenwich Avenue again, and I bought a Dublin Dollars scratch card for a dollar at the Greenwich Cigar store, but I lost.   I walked back up to the Greenwich Hardware store, and I toured their store.   The have some small appliances for 50% off.   I walked back up Greenwich Avenue a way.   I went by Charles Stuttig's lock smith, when they opened at 7:30 A.M., and I had a copy of each of the two Buick GM keys made along with a key for "The Club" steering wheel lock and a key for the Stant gasoline cap and along with a Buick key fob for $3, it was $16.43 total.    I then went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a 12 pack of English muffins for $2.05, a Entenmann's Home-style apple pie 26 ounces for $2.25 and a six pack of New York everything bagels for $1.85 for $6.15 total.   I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor and the building custodian.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/30/07 Monday 4:30 A.M.:   I woke up at 1:30 A.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted bagel with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.   I added some music files to the Northgate Syntax computer.    I did another backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I also did a backup from the first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.    I burned Vista Longhorn Server beta 3 to DVD.    I also burned a copy of Kubuntu Linux Feisty Fawn to CD.   For now I will leave XP Home Edition on the Toshiba laptop.    I do not leave its power adapter turned on, since it gets warm to hot.   One can turn it on from the bedroom desk control panel.   The Toshiba laptop battery does not hold much of a charge anyway.   I am running Norton SpeedDisk on the Northgate Syntax computer.    I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for an early morning walk.  There are suppose to be a few early morning showers around 7 A.M..   Greenwich, Connecticut (06830) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground .   CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 04/28/07:

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 7:45 P.M.:   I ate two scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.   I chatted with a relative about auto mechanics.   I chatted with a fellow walker about auto mechanics.    I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.  BBC NEWS | UK | England | Earthquake shakes parts of Kent .   BBC NEWS | Technology | Mouse brain simulated on computerBBC NEWS | UK | Iraqi MPs tell Harry to stay away .  Well, if he wants to visit here instead, we are probably a bit more peaceful.   I even have an ashtray here that says "Harry's Bar " "Venezia" as in Italia.   Whatever, the case the big news story this upcoming week is Queen Elizabeth II coming to Virginia Jamestown 2007 - America's 400th Anniversary and Kentucky Derby 133 and the Welcome to the White House during the first week of May 2007 Buckingham Palace press releases > State Visit to the USA, 21 March 2007 .   Before I shut down the primary computer, I will send out my weekly notes.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 5:45 P.M.:  Well, every cloud has a silver lining.   My weight has gone down from 195 pounds to 181 pounds, which is a much better weight for my thin boned six foot tall frame.   I went out after the last message.   I went by Gateway Auto Machine, and I bought a Stant locking gasoline cap #10501 with two keys for my 1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon for $22.73 and two quarts of Castrol 10W-40 motor oil for $3 each and $1.02 tax for $30.45 total.   I then installed the new locking gasoline cap on my car fuel tank.   I put the non locking one in the Stant box, and I put it with the two quarts of oil in the rear driver's side compartment.   I put one of the keys on my key ring with the www.gm.com and www.buick.com keys, and when I got home, I put the other gas cap key with the other set of keys.   I next went by Charles Stuttig's lock smith on Greenwich Avenue, but they are closed on Saturdays.   I will get another set of keys made later on next week, so I have a third set of keys.   I then parked, and I sat out briefly down in the center of town.   It seems to be busy as ever.   I then went down by the waterfront, and there were a few people down there, but I guess the fisherman can not afford to show up anymore.   I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with some of the staff.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I bought $8 of self service premium unleaded gasoline at $3.559 a gallon for 2.249 gallons purchased.   Since I drove locally in traffic 20.5 miles since I last filled up two days ago, my math says I get 9.115 miles per gallon of gasoline in local driving which costs $.3904 a mile to drive the car locally.  I am suppose to get 16 miles per gallon on the highway.  On the diseased 1995 Volvo Turbo wagon, I got 13 to 16 miles per gallon driving locally, so the Buick wagon uses about 50% more gasoline.   Maybe I should just fly the Saudi Arabian flag from its back window, but then I would not be able to see out the rear window.  Thus the Volvo cost about .22 to .26 miles per gallon to drive locally.   However, I only drive about 3,000 miles a year, which works out on the Buick 3,000 divided by 9.115 equals 329.1278 gallons of premium self service gasoline at the current Exxon price of $3.559 a gallon to $1,171.365 a year in gasoline expenses with more that likely expected fuel increases for the next year.  In the year 2006, I spent $531.13 on gasoline with mostly local driving and one round trip to Kennebunkport, Maine, so it would seem that my future gasoline expenses for this upcoming year will be 2.2 times greater or about a 110% increase in cost.   Since gasoline or fuel prices or a primary variable in the costs of every other item that has to be shipped, it would seem to me that the Federal Government should increase my COLA or Cost of Living Adjustment for my Supplement Security Income from the current 1.5% to a more realistic level.    Obviously the politicians do not know what economists are, or they do not listen to them.   Thus since part of my volunteer activity over the last 24 years has included observation downtown along with all of the walking that I have done, it will cost me 5 to 7 miles round trip every time I got downtown with 7 miles going as far as Steamboat Road or $2 to $2.80 for each round trip, which is why I do not always go downtown, as often anymore.   Hopefully the Buick battery will not run down when it is not used daily in the winter, since I do not think it has an alarm system, so possibly I will not have to take it for longer drives to charge up the car battery in the winter.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 1:55 P.M.:   I picked up my mail.   I chatted with a relative.   I used some CVS Super Glue gel to try to mend my front license plate top passenger side of the frame, and I secured it with some black electrical tape.   Hopefully, it will stick tight once it dries.    If not I can leave the plastic edge hanging lose, or I can cut it off.   The front license plate is secure with bolts lower down.   I took half of the steak stew that I made yesterday that I had defrosted in the refrigerator, and I put it in a microwave proof soup bowl with microwave lid on it, and I heated it on one vegetable cycle in the General Electric microwave oven.   I put the hot bowl on a cool dinner plate, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   It tastes better when you don't have to cook it before.   I brought up my 1992 Buick Road Master station wagon owner's manual to study.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 11:15 A.M.:   I chatted with a friend.  I went out after the last message.   I brought three bent wood baskets to give to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.   I gave one to a neighbor who could use it.  I put the items in between the two rear seats, in the rear seat foot well, and I folded down the rear  facing rear third seat, so there is now more cargo room in the Buick wagon.   I then went downtown, and I read my 1992 Buick Roadmaster wagon manual, and it says under normal driving conditions the automatic transmission fluid does not need to replaced for every 100,000 miles, so since the automatic transmission was replaced under warranty at 55,000 miles, it should have a ways to go before the automatic transmission fluid needs to be replaced.   I noticed I only have a 22 gallon gasoline tank.  Since I put 21.646 gallon in it all together this week, it would appear I was almost out of gasoline when I was up at the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles in Norwalk, Connecticut on the Wilton, Connecticut border.   Thus when the fuel gauge reaches the yellow marking just above the empty marking, basically the car is out of gasoline.   I wander if that would have effected my emissions test.   I walked a bit of upper Greenwich Avenue.   I stopped by CVS, and I bought two buy one get one free of 100 ounce Arm and Hammer liquid detergent for $5.49 both, two 2 packs of 4.25 ounce bars of Dove soap for $2.50 a two pack, a 15 ounce VO5 herbal shampoo for .77, a 15 ounce VO5 herbal conditioner for .77, and a white 70" by 72" shower curtain liner with reinforced metal grommets for $3.69 and .94 tax for $16.66 total.   I returned to my car with the purchases.   I then went by the Bank of New York Chase Bank on Mason Street.    I put eight quarters in my change holder in the Buick.  One the right side of the front seat arm rest, there is a plastic slider that permits one to open the front of the arm rest to show a cup holder and a change holder.    I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I gave them the two bent wood baskets, and I bought a 17 to 19 inch Fellowes standard glare filter for $5.   I then returned home.   I put $10 on my MacGray laundry card, so I now have $17.85 on it.   I put the Fellowes glare filter on the left 19 inch Panasonic monitor on my primary computer setup.    I installed the new shower curtain liner, and it seems about 4 inches too short, but it is long enought that it will still work effectively.   I will now throw out the old shower curtain liner.  Two days ago, I also got my new GEICO insurance card, so I put in the auto paper holder in the glove box.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/28/07 Saturday 6:40 A.M.:   I woke up at 9 P.M., and I chatted with a friend.    I went back to bed until 1:30 A.M.. I went back to bed until a little white ago.   I made my bed.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for an early morning walk.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/27/07 Friday 4:15 P.M.:   I went downstairs after the last message, and I picked up my mail.   I chatted with some neighbors.   I then came back upstairs, and I put the mail away.   The emergency pull cord alarm went off in one of the apartments, and I went out to investigate, and apparently it was a false alarm.   I chatted with some neighbors.    I then took the 1.75 pound Angus top round London Broil cut of beef, and I cut it with a serrated knife into 1 to 1.5 inch cubes.    I then took my Chinese Wok that I bought from a Japanese family in Old Greenwich at a tag sale over a dozen years ago for $2, and I put it on my large electric burner.    I added a half dozen tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and I then peeled and minced six large cloves of garlic, and I added them to the oil.   I then peeled and diced three medium large onions, and I turned on the electric burner heat to medium high, and once the olive oil and garlic was hot, I added the onions, and I seasoned them lightly with chicken and meat seasoning, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, beef bullion powder, and ground black pepper.   I sautéed the onions and garlic until they began to look a bit opaque.  I then added a half stick of 50% less fat butter cut into pads.   I then added the beef chunks, and I browned them stirring them around in Wok, until they turned from red to light tan.    I then added half of a 14 ounce can of Swanson's chicken stock, and I mixed it together leaving it on medium high electric burner heat.   I then took 1.5 pounds of baby carrots, and I cut them lengthwise into quarters, and I added them.   I am very fast at prep work.   I then cut the last half inch off the stalks of a pound of asparagus, and I discarded the hard ends.   I then cut the rest of the asparagus on an angle at .75 inch lengths, and I added them to the Wok.   I then cut two pounds broccoli crowns into .75 inch to 1.25 inch chunks, and I added them to the Wok.   I mixed it all together, and I added the rest of the Swanson's chicken broth, and the other half of the stick of 50% less fat butter.   I seasoned it all some more with dried parsley, Italian seasoning, Old Bay Seasoning, Chicken and Meat Seasoning, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and beef bullion powder, and I added  about four tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a tablespoons of Angostura bitters, a couple of tablespoons of Lea and Perris Worcestershire sauce, a tablespoon of Sesame oil, and about an 1/8th of a cup of Kikkoman soy sauce, a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice, and I mixed it all together with a large wooden mixing spoon that I have.   I left it on medium high electric burner heat, and I let it all cook stirring frequently for about 50 minutes.  I made up a batch of http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/mlsrice.htm , but instead of using water, I used a 14 ounce can of Swanson's chicken broth, and I also added to the regular recipe, Italian seasoning, Old Bay Seasoning, garlic powder, and two teaspoons of soy sauce.    Once the rice was done, after the 50 minute cooking cycle of the stew, I added the rice to the mixture, and I mixed it all together, and I continued to cook it another 30 minutes reducing the electric burner heat gradually to medium and then low for a simmer.   After it was done, I put 1.5 cups of the mixture in a soup bowl.   I put three cups of the mixture in each of three Rubbermaid containers with lids.    I froze two of the containers, and I put the third in the refrigerator.    I clean up as I cook, so I just cleaned up the Wok, and then I rubbed the inside with a bit of olive oil with a paper towel, so it would not rust.    Thus I made up all together seven 1.5 cup servings of the stew.   I then ate the portion in the soup bowl with a glass of iced tea.     It is a very hearty enjoyable meal, particularly, if you do not have to cook it.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/27/07 Friday 12:05 P.M.:   I went out after the last note yesterday.   I went by the Greenwich Housing Authority, and I dropped off my new lease paper work with them.    I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I chatted with some of the staff.    I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment on Thursday.    I then returned home.   One the way home, I saw someone driving a new mini car about half the size of a Morris Mini Cooper.   I ate the other half of the 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips.    I then went to bed.   I had a telephone call from a relative on the answering machine about 7 P.M. that I did not hear.   I had a telephone call from a fellow walker about 9 P.M. asking about what the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service Center said needed to be done on the 1992 Buick Roadmaster wagon.   I gave a brief description of what I have written in my notes.   Besides having my friend's mechanic fix the emissions problem, I should also have the automatic transmission fluid changed along with any other 50,000 mile automatic transmission maintenance routines on it, if it has not already been done by my friend's mechanic.   I woke up at midnight.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted English muffins with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.   I watered the plants using some of the Shultz fertilizer drops.   I also pushed the soil in them back in place.   I put more white vinegar in the scent bowl.   I turned on the Honeywell Hepa air purifier which makes the apartment more livable with the allergy seasoning coming up.   I also have an allergy air purifier underneath the brass and glass coffee table, I might turn on soon.   I also turned on a few of the lights I had turned off, since it makes the apartment more cheerful.   I did my regular house cleaning which I had not done in a month.   I also put a new vacuum bag in the Sears Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner.  I also used some of the Scot's Tuff Pot Shot to clean the outside exterior of the white Westinghouse refrigerator.  It came out very clean.   I used a concentrated batch of Ajax antibacterial dishwashing detergent in hot water to clean the kitchen stove fan metal air filter where cigarette smoke accumulates, and I cleaned the housing and fan except the electrical parts.   I used Murphy's Oil soap, and I cleaned the wooden kitchen cabinets.  I then polished them with CVS lemon furniture polish.   I put a Stop and Shop blue toilet drop-in tablet in the toilet tank.   I washed and dried the glassware in the center hallway bookcase lower cabinet area, and I also washed and dried the glassware on the Danish bar at the far end of the living room sitting area.   I threw out the garbage including the one defrosted hamburger that was old.   I chatted with a relative.   I ordered from www.amazon.com for the relative Amazon.com: High Rise Low Down: Books: Denise LeFrak Calicchio,Eunice David,Kathryn Livingston for $16.47 and Amazon.com: KitchenAid Professional Egg Slicer, Black: Home & Garden for $9.99 with free shipping on over a $25 order for $26.46 total.   The twin brother of one of my college roommates at www.lfc.edu knew the author when I first moved to Manhattan back in 1973.    We seem to be having a lot of rain.  Weather Hazards for Southern Fairfield, CT .   Thus I spent about 10 hours doing house cleaning this morning.  I would say by my standards the apartment is back up to snuff.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 1:05 P.M.:    www.geico.com called me up.   I signed my lease papers for the Greenwich Housing Authority.   I will turn them in shortly when I go out.   I will now get ready to go out for my 3 P.M. appointment.   It is not very busy in downtown Greenwich anymore, since the price of fuel is so high more people are staying home.   However, it is the nature of this town that there are always a few people still around.   I told GEICO that Belgium has the highest population density in the World, so maybe Fairfield County is getting to be like that.   It is easier and cheaper to linger in downtown Greenwich than to explore our neighboring towns.  I will now turn off the computer.   Maybe when I wake up tomorrow, I will try to do my apartment cleaning for the first time in about four or five weeks.   It is so long ago, I forget when the last time it was that I cleaned the palce.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 11:25 A.M.:   I made up a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe, and I also added garlic powder, Old Bay Seasoning, Italian seasoning, chicken bullion seasoning and a teaspoon of Kikkoman soy sauce.  I put about 2 cups of baby carrots and broccoli crowns and sliced asparagus in a Revere pot with steamer tray and an inch of water and lid, and I steamed them for 15 minutes on medium high electric burner heat.  For the last 10 minutes I put a few tablespoons of olive oil in a 10 inch stick proof frying pan with a few pads of margarine, and I heated it medium high electric burner heat.   I then put in an eight ounce hamburger in the frying pan and a medium large onion peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch thick slices, and I seasoned the burger and onions on both sides with garlic pepper, ground black pepper, and chicken and meat seasoning, and I cooked them on medium to medium high electric burner heat flipping them frequently for about 4 minutes a side, and for the last two minutes, I put on a couple of teaspoons of Kikkoman soy sauce and on top of the burger I put two 1/4th inch by 1.25 inch by 4 inch thick slices of mozzarella cheese, and I put a lid on, and I steamed the cheese for a couple of minutes.   I then put the vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil on them.   I put the burger on a dinner plate with the sautéed onions over them, and I put half the rice on the dinner plate and the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a relative and a friend.  I checked the mail, but it had not arrived yet.   I chatted with some neighbors.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/26/07 Thursday 9:25 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I noticed the rear window windshield wiper was totally worn out, when I tried to remove the morning mist.    I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   I used the bathroom at Starbucks.   I then drove down by the waterfront, and I chatted with another regular fisherman about my recent automobile adventures, and he is an automobile mechanic.   I then went by the Gateway Auto Supply, and I bought a Anco 31-17 wiper blade for $7.65 total.   I snapped it in place replacing the old worn out wiper blade on the rear window of the Buick station wagon.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon gasoline station, and I filled up the gasoline tank to the top with $10 of premium unleaded self service gasoline at $3.459 a gallon or 2.891 gallons of fuel.  Thus I have a full tank of gasoline to start figuring out my regular gasoline mileage, and I reset the trip odometer to zero.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two 59 ounce containers of Tropicana premium orange juice with calcium for $1.99 each, a Angus top round London Broil for $1.99 a pound for $3.60, a pound of baby carrots for $1.79, fresh asparagus at $1.77 a pound for $1.77, fresh Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for .98, and broccoli crowns at $1.99 a pound for $2.83 for $11.45 total.   I then returned home.  I leant my neighbor the folding cart from the rear seat area of my car to bring down an old computer CPU and monitor, but instead I carried it down for them which was easier, and I put the folding cart back in between the two rear seats of my Buick station wagon.   While I was out the Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive completed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/25/07 Wednesday 2:50 P.M.:   I woke up at 4:30 A.M. this morning. I then showered, and I cleaned up.   I then went out, and I drove from Exit 2 to Exit 4 on East Bound I-95 as fast as the traffic would bear, and then I drove back from exit 4 to 3.    I then went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then dropped the Buick Wagon off at the Shell Service station at Sherwood Place, and I paid $20 have the Connecticut Emissions checked.   It was about 6:30 A.M., and they said they would start on it around 8 A.M..   I then walked over to Greenwich Avenue, and I walked down Greenwich Avenue, and I went by the Greenwich train station.   The Metro North police were there, and apparently the trains were not running because the power lines were down between Greenwich and Cos Cob Metro-North delays - Greenwich Time .   I then walked back down to the waterfront on Steamboat Road.  One of the regular summer fishermen was there, and he told me the too most regular summer fishermen were down there yesterday.   There were five news helicopters flying over Bruce Park covering the Metro North trains delay.   I then walked back up Greenwich Avenue, and I stopped by the Welcome to RBSGC.com , and I chatted with some of their staff.   They told me they now own the building.   They are still in the process of demolishing Maneros to build new condominiums.   I think they should save the old florescent signs for some old art deco museum.   I then returned back up Greenwich Avenue, and I advised a couple of commuters parking their cars that the trains might not be running.   I sat out briefly by the Senior and the Arts Center.   I then returned to the Shell station about 8:10 A.M., and they were just about to start my emissions check.   I walked over to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop, and I said good morning to some of their staff.   I returned to the Shell station, and they checked out the emissions on the Buick, and unfortunately it failed.   They said after I made the emissions repairs, they would reinspect it again at no extra charge.   I then returned home, and the paramedics were at my building for a neighbor that needed assistance.   I chatted with the friend who sold me the car, and the emission test showed the emissions was not due until May 25, 2007 and one has a month after that to have it inspected.   My friend said he would have his mechanic take care of it more reasonably than the Greenwich Exxon station.    We then agreed to meet at the Norwalk Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.   I drove east on I-95 observing a lot of backed up west bound traffic, and I drove up Route 7 to the Department of Motor Vehicles.   I met my friend there.   We filled out the paper work for the Buick registration to my current Connecticut license plates, title transfer, and sales tax.   I took my friends license plates off the Buick, and I put my Connecticut license plates on the Buick.   We waited about 45 minutes for our turn in line.   I paid $60 sales tax on the $1,000 sale of the car, $20 Registration Vehicle transfer, $25 title transfer, and $10 inspection fee for $115 total that I paid for with a personal check.  My relative had already since my friend a $1,000 check for the purchase price of the Buick.   My friend left to go back to work.   I then drove north on Route 7 past Wal-Mart to the Mobil gasoline station there.   Since my fuel gauge was near empty, and since the gasoline is slightly cheaper in Wilton, I bought $63 of premium unleaded gasoline at $3.359 a gallon or 18.755 gallons.   Since the Buick does not have a trip computer, I do not know its miles per gallon or average speed.   I did not fill up the fuel tank all of the way.   It supposedly has a 24 gallon gasoline tank, but the gasoline gauge is all of the way up.   However, on the Buick once the fuel gauge drops below a half, it tends to drop fast.   I then returned back down Route 7 to I-15 West of the Merritt Parkway to Greenwich, and I got off at North Street.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a relative and a friend.   I scraped off the old expired emissions sticker from the windshield, and I put the new registration sticker in the inside driver's side left of the windshield.   I put the temporary registration and insurance card in the car papers holder I have in the glove box.   I also left the failed Shell emissions report there too.   I now have paid $20 twice for two failed emissions reports, but it should not be too difficult to fix the emissions problem, once my friend's mechanic gets to work on it.  I have two months time.   When he has time, he will pick up the car here and take it to his mechanic.  I put away the other papers on the bedroom desk.   I put away the tools that I had used for changing the license plates.   I left the Putnam Buick Greenwich, Connecticut license plate frame on the car.  I chatted with some neighbors.   I brought up the mail.   I am in the process of making up a batch of Formula Two http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .   I called up www.geico.com to tell them that I had registered the car and transferred the title.   The car was already insured by them since the day I took procession of the car on April 22, 2007.  I just had a telephone recording from Congressman Christopher Shays that he will be at a Town Hall Meeting on Friday April 27, 2007 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M..  CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 11:40 P.M.:  I chatted with a friend and a relative at 9 A.M. this morning.   I went back to bed until 2 P.M.. I then threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.   I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.    I chatted with Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon station, and they were just completing the work on my car.   I will get into that in a minute.   I chatted with a relative a friend a couple of times.   I then walked downtown to pickup the car.  I stopped by the Chase Bank on West Putnam Avenue.    I stopped by McDonalds on the way to use the bathroom.   I picked up my car at the Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon station, and I paid $109.99 for a new Deka car battery and $13.75 to have the electric system tested and have the battery installed, $38.58 for an oil and filter change, top off vital fluids, lubricate chassis and perform 20 point maintenance check.  The $38.58 included $19.58 labor, five quarts of Exxon 5000 motor oil for $14.05 and a #49 oil filter for $4.95.    Emissions test $20 and free tire rotation for $200 total.   I failed the emissions test, and they said I needed a tune up to pass emissions, and the parts for a tune-up would be $300 and $200 labor.    I also need a new drive belt installed which would be $150.   I also need to have the automatic transmission flushed and refilled which would be $200.   I also need new wiper blades which would be about $28.   Thus with tax, I still need about $800 in service that I can not afford.   A relative paid for the $200 of work that they did perform.   I then checked the air on the tires again for 35 PSI rear and 30 PSI front.   I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I bought for a dollar an Aces High scratch card, but I lost.   I stopped by CVS, and I bought buy one get one free of Arm and Hammer detergent for $5.49 both and .33 tax for $5.82 total.  After my walk, I sat out for a while.   I then drove down by the waterfront.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a relative and a friend.   The friend who sold me the car told me besides putting in the dry gas to clean out the emissions system, I need to drive the car at high speed for a short spell to get it to pass emissions.   I went back out, and I drove up King Street to Westchester Airport, I got on I-684 East, and I drove at high speed reaching speeds up to 85 miles per hour from the airport to Mount Kisco, where I got back off and on and came back the same way at high speed, and then I got off at the airport, and I drove around the airport terminal area and back down King Street, and I returned home.   I chatted with a relative.   I put three paper towels on a microwave proof plate, and then I laid out six strips of Oscar Meyer bacon on the paper towels, and then I put two more paper towels on top of the bacon strips, and then I put a microwave cover on top of the plate, and I put it in the microwave oven, and I set it to 4 minutes and 15 seconds.  I broke three large eggs in a large metal mixing bowl, and I added a couple of tablespoons of milk, a tablespoon of olive oil, dashes of oregano, and a tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese, and I whisked it all together.   I put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a stick proof frying pan with a few pads of 50% less fat butter, and I turned it on medium high electric burner heat.   I put two English muffin halves in the toaster.  Once the fat in the frying pan was hot, I started the bacon and English muffin, and I added the egg mixture to the frying pan.  I made soft scrambled eggs.   The other items were done at the same time.  I put the scrambled eggs on a large dinner plate with the bacon and English muffin, and I added a little bit of olive oil on the English muffin.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I will now go through my email.  While getting ready to go out today, I did a Norton Antivirus 2007 full system scan of the Vista primary computer.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 5:30 A.M.:  I went outside, and I threw away some garbage.   The newspaper delivery person was making the Greenwich Time Greenwich, Connecticut, Local News, Jobs, Real Estate | Greenwich Time delivery.  I brought the papers from the outer door to the inside entry hallway table.   McCain has fundraiser in Belle Haven - Greenwich Time .   The two six inch square ceramic trivets on either side of the Northgate Syntax monitor are the Cadillac one and the Williamsburg one.   I put red, white, and blue striped mouse pads on top of each.  I took out the White Star clipper ship place mat from underneath the Northgate Syntax computer, and I put a more worn place mat underneath it.   I put the White Star clipper ship place mat on the mahogany and leather tea table in the kitchen which sits over the garbage can.   I put the Netherlands Club of New York ceramic trivet on top to the White Star place mat with a cut crystal ash tray.   I put the Eiffel Tower round trivet in between the place mats on the dining table.  I organized some of the bric-a-brac on the living room window shelf.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 4:40 A.M.:  I ate three scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.   I then took the Toshiba laptop and its accessories off the near end of the brass and glass coffee table.   I then put two square Christmas tree coaster on the near end of the brass and glass coffee table and set back about 15 inches two wooden round coasters.   I then put a 16 ounce can of B&M baked beans on each coaster.   I then put a wooden breakfast tray upside down on top of the bean cans.   I centered the bean cans, so they are against each corner of the upside down breakfast tray rim.   I then put a piece of Plexiglas on top of the upside down breakfast tray to level it off and to raise it up a bit I put a large book on Saudi Arabia.  I then took one of the two 2 foot diameter oak Lazy Susans from underneath the large palm tree on the window sill and I put it on top of the book on Saudi Arabia.   I then took off the 19 inch CompUSA monitor from the Dell L1000R computer on the bedroom desk, and I removed one of the two control panels.   I then put the control panel on top of the Lazy Susan, and I put the 19 inch CompUSA monitor on top of the control panel.   I slid back the allergy machine underneath the brass and glass coffee.   I then put the White Star Line Place Mat on the rug underneath the near left side of the brass and glass coffee table.   I then disconnected the Northgate Syntax computer from the left side of the bedroom desk, and I put it on top of the White Star Line place mat underneath the brass and glass coffee table at the near left side.  I then hooked it up with the same accessories, except I put the Logitech cordless mouse from the Dell L1000R computer with it, and I put the Rosewell mouse from the Northgate Syntax with the Dell L1000R computer.   I also put the 17 inch Trinitron monitor with the Dell L1000R computer on the bedroom desk.  I put the Toshiba laptop on the left side of the bedroom desk on top of the Visioneer 7600 scanner.    I have the Northgate Syntax computer also hooked up to the Cable TV system with its TV card.   This took a while, but there are now two adequate computers on the brass and glass coffee table with large monitors and accessories.   I think the Northgate Syntax monitor facing the Ethan Allen recliner can also be swiveled on the Lazy Susan, so it can be used with either sofa at the near ends.   I put two 5 inch square ceramic trivets underneath the Lazy Susan, so they can be used as mouse pads with the Logitech cordless mouse on the right or left side of the monitor.   The Northgate Syntax computer is a very good computer, and you can study its specifications at http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .   There is now a little bit more space in the bedroom window area and on the bedroom desk.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/24/07 Tuesday 12:45 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I brought my jump start system with me, and I had to jump start the car battery, since the old battery was installed in 1999, so it needs to be replaced.   I then drove to the Stop and Shop, and I used the ATM machine at the Chase Bank at the Stop and Shop Plaza.  I bought two 12 ounce containers of Unifide Iso-Dri Fuel System Dryer for fuel injected engines Isopropyl gas additive for $1.99 each and a 12 ounce container of Pennzoil concentrated Fuel System cleaner for $3.99 for $7.97 sub total and .48 tax for $8.45 total.   I was told if I added the Isopropyl dry gas additive, it would help me pass my emissions test, but first I had to drive the car on the highway a few miles at 70 miles per hour.   I then got on I-95 East at Exit 3 in downtown Greenwich, and I drove from 50 to 70 miles an hour to exit 5 and back to exit 3.   I then parked downtown.   I left the engine running while at the Stop and Shop to charge up the car battery.   I then parked downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.  At the vacant lot at the top of Greenwich Avenue south of the Pickwick Plaza, they have a back hoe, so maybe they will be doing some new construction there.   After I completed my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road.   I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon service station, and I put 35 PSI in the rear tires and 30 PSI in the front tires.  I noticed the regular service manager Chris was still there, so I dropped the car off there to get a new battery for about $90 and $15 installation charge.   They will also do the emissions test there, and change the oil and oil filter and top off the consumables, and they will also rotate the tires.   Thus when I wake up tomorrow afternoon the car should be ready.   I need to have the emissions test done before I can register the car.   I could possibly get the air conditioner charged up there, but it would be about $120 to $200 to charge it up, and more if it needed parts.   Since I do not drive that much anymore, and mostly for short distances at night, I will not bother having the air conditioner on the car charged up now, until I am doing more hot weather driving in the daytime.  I then walked home.   I watched the beginning of the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on the Turner movie channel at midnight.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 9:45 P.M.:  I opened up a 12 ounce box of frozen Gorton's Gorton's Shrimp Temptations , and I put it in a two quart pot, and I added a 26 ounce jar of Francesco Rinaldi Welcome to Francesco Rinaldi tomato sauce with sliced mushrooms and peppers, and I added four cloves of minced garlic, a teaspoon of olive oil, and a teaspoon of Italian spices, and I brought it to a simmer over medium high electric burner heat stirring frequently to defrost the shrimp and mix the ingredients together, and I reduced it to medium electric burner heat and for the last five minute of a 20 minute cooking cycle, I put it on medium low.   At the same time I put four quarts of water in a 6 quart Revere pot and a half teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of sea salt, and I brought it to a boil over high electric burner heat, and once the water was boiling, I added a 16 ounce box of San Georgio Ronzoni Macaroni Company vermicelli, and I stirred it a bit to fit into the pot, and I boiled it for eight minutes reducing to medium high, once the water was bubbling.  I then drained it in a colander inside another big pot, and I threw the hot water down the bathroom sink to clean out the shaving soap scum.   I put half of the cooked vermicelli on a large dinner plate, and I put the other half in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I then added half of the tomato shrimp sauce on the dinner plate, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I put a few tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese on the vermicelli and tomato shrimp sauce, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 8:10 P.M.:  I threw away the two old boneless breasts of chicken.   The 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon needs to have its tires rotated also, so when I have the funds and time, it needs to have an oil and filter change and the coolant topped up, the tires rotated, a new battery, and possibly I will go through the additional expense of charging up the air conditioning system which needs more coolant.   I took a Stanley paint scraper, and I scraped as much off the rubber and glue off the chrome strips on the front door where the rubber bumper strips came off, so it looks a bit better.   I took the items from the rear facing seat foot well, and I put them in between the rear facing seat back and the rear seat back, and I left the rear facing seat opened.   Thus with room for three passengers in the large front seat with the arm rest up, and three passengers in the rear seat, and two passengers in the rear facing seat, there is room for eight people in the car.  There are eight pairs of seat belts at those locations.  I put my GEICO automobile policy insurance identification in the glove compartment with the previous owner's registration and All State insurance identification car, so now the car is doubly insured until I transfer title and registration and plates probably this Tuesday.   I set the interior lights setting to the minimum, so they do not stay on after one gets out of the car and locks it.   I also set the stay on feature of the headlights, so they do not stay on after one turns them off to light up the walk area.   Thus there will be less a load on the older battery.  I also put in two new AA alkaline batteries in each of the two flash lights in the side pockets of the front doors, and I also put a pair of Alkaline batteries that are still good in the glove box.  One of my neighbor's children has a new black Audi Quatto which is an extremely sporty car which looks like it has 18 inch high performance wheels.   There is room enough in the Buick wagon to tour guests off the QM2 - Itinerary - 2007 when it next arrives in New York on Monday April 30, 2007.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/22/07 Sunday 6:10 P.M.:  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I used a long extension cord, and I vacuumed out the Buick Roadmaster station wagon.   I put my personal items back in the car.   I drive it up to the side door, and I use the long extension cord that I have with my old Electrolux vacuum cleaner.   I think the Buick needs a new battery since it seems a little low on power starting up.   I was told later on in the day at the auto parts store in Port Chester, New York, I could get one for about $85, but I would have to install it myself, which does not look to difficult.   It has enough power for now.   I take one of the jump start systems when I go out.   One has to be careful, because one can lock the keys inside the car, if you push the full lock button on the inside of the driver's door and close the driver's door.   It is safer to use the remote keyless entry, so one is out the car with the key.  It has two keys beside the remote keyless entry.    I showered, and I cleaned up, and I went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   They did not have any  deposit slips out by the ATM machine, but the cleaning crew gave me a deposit slip which I used at the ATM machine.   I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a small two inch molly and bolt for .33 and a flat washer for .17 for .50 and .3 tax for .53 total.  I stopped by CVS, and I chatted with an employee of Candy Nichols, and the employee of Candy Nichols is now working in their Rye, New York store.  I think they also have a Candy Nichols children's store in New Canaan, Connecticut.   I chatted with a Starbucks regular and a regular walker.   I sat out for a while.   I probably will not be driving down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road too much, since the 1992 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon is such a large car, it might be difficult turning it around with all of the parked cars down by the waterfront.   It has a boat hitch for hauling boats with electric tail light extension.   I then drove over to the Medallion Auto Parts store in Port Chester, New York, and I bought a package of two small 24BP small blinker lights for $2.49 and .18 tax for $2.67 total.   I then returned home.  I put the two new small blinker lights in the front corner blinker housings, and I also put two new 2057 parking lights in the same front corner housings.   I already had the 2057 lights.   I then used the two inch bolt with small molly and flat washer to hold down a black box on the driver's side in the engine compartment where its plastic hold down fastener had come lose.  Also the metal accordion tube from the valve cover to the air intake had become disconnected, so I refastened it.   All of the exterior lights in the car seem to be working.   I had a neighbor check the rear lights while I tested them.   The car battery has a side fasten battery with a double thick screw on a double cable terminal and a regular thick screw on the single thick terminal, and it has a hold down bolt that I could access with my tools, so it would not be too difficult for me to replace myself.   I was told by Medallion that one would cost about $85 there, but I usually get new car batteries at Sears, so I can get their Nation Wide warranty, not that I will be going anywhere.   I have fairly new Cooper white wall tires on the car.   The department Connecticut department of Motor Vehicles is not opened on Monday in Norwalk, Connecticut, but I might meet my friend there on Tuesday, if I have the funds to transfer the car.   My friend is going to meet me there to give me the title and to pick up his license plates.   I was emailed my new GEICO insurance card.   I chatted with a relative.   The relative recommended that I not cook and eat the last two pieces of boneless breasts of chicken that I bought last Sunday night, so I will throw them away.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 11:45 P.M.:  I rested an hour after the last message.   I then chatted with a relative and GEICO.   I then rested briefly.   About 1:30 P.M., my friend arrived with the  1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon in Burgundy and wood veneer with 113,789 miles on it for $1,000 http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?ManufacturerId=7&YearId=1992&VehicleClass=UsedCar&VehicleId=NC8yMi8yMDA3fDExNDgx&PriceType=Private+Party&ModelId=486&Mileage=110000&SelectionHistory=11481%7c3346%7c06830%7c100%7c10%7c403718%7ctrue%7c403704%7ctrue%7c403731%7ctrue%7c403741%7ctrue%7c403762%7ctrue&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=0 .   A relative is going to send the friend a check for the car, and I will use the insurance check to pay back the relative for the Volvo.   My friend showed me some of the oddities of the car.   We chatted briefly with a neighbor.   I showed my friend the current state of the apartment, since he had not been here in two years.   I filled out the bill of sale on his registration and he signed it.   We are going to leave it registered in his name and insured in his name, until I get up the Connecticut department of motor vehicles later on next week.    I need to have enough money to pay the sales tax on it.  Although, I am buying the car for a $1,000, the book value is about $2,500, so they might charge me 6% sales tax on $2,500 or about $150 plus title transfer and license plate transfer fees.   I made copies of the registration for him and myself, and we put his insurance card and registration back in the car glove box.  I still have his plates on the car.   I drove my friend to the Greenwich Railroad station to catch a 3:01 P.M. train headed east.   He had somebody to pick him up at his destination.   The car has half a tank of gasoline, and it was only driven a couple of thousand miles in the last two years, since the friend has two other cars.   The battery seem charged up enough with him driving it down here.  The automatic transmission was repaired under warranty at 55,000 miles, and I was with him when it broke down coming down from Kennebunkport, Maine many years ago.   The brakes were replaced at 85,000 miles.  The tires show about 2/3rds tread left on them.   The car is very clean.   The car has a boat hitch, which my friend will continue to use the car to take his boat in and out of the water twice a year.    Using premium high grade octane gasoline, the car only gets about 16 miles per gallon the highway and about the same locally.  The car was tuned a short time ago, after it was tuned its gasoline mileage went from 26 miles per gallon to about 16 miles per gallon, so perhaps mileage can be improved.   To fill up the tank will cost over $50.   Still it is very good reliable transportation for me, since I only drive about 3,000 miles a year.   I oiled the door hinges and locks.   The tail gate window would not open properly, and I took a piece of plastic bag out the latch area, and it now seems to work fine.   When I returned home, the driver's side window would not go up quickly, but eventually the power window went up with a  a push and a lift on it.  However, if one only lowers it halfway up and down it works fine.   The car has full climate control with air conditioning that works.   It has a burgundy red leather interior and burgundy with wood veneer exterior.   I have ridden in it many times, so I am familiar with it.  I used a nut and bolt to fasten the open end of the air intake to its fixed position on the front of the car underneath the hood.   I checked the lights.   The small front passenger side blinker bulb needs to be replaced.   I took it out to match it.   I had to fish out the other bulb at that location and reinstall in its lens housing.   I turned the dash lights, so they come on with the head lights.   The car still needs to be vacuumed.   It has a third rear seat folded down.  It is a quite large deluxe car.   My friend knows of several people with the same car with over 200,000 miles.    I think it cost about $29,000 new, and it was one of the demos from the Buick Open sold at Putnam Buick here in Greenwich.  It has rear wheel drive, so it is not very good on snow.   It has a rear Putnam Buick license frame, which my friend says makes me look "Old Guard" .  The remote keyless entry key fob had two dead lithium disk #2016 batteries in it, and I put in two #2025 batteries in it, and it works just fine.   It is missing one piece of black rubber side molding from one of the front doors, and the other piece for the other side is in the rear compartment area.  They could be glued back on.  I also closed up the rear  inside side hatch door which had its latch mechanism slide back a bit, so I pulled it forward, and it worked to close it.  It might need a new air filter, I am not sure.  Although the car is quite clean on the inside and the outside, the engine compartment is quite dusty after all of these years.   The oil is topped up, but it could use a quart or two of coolant antifreeze.   Still the car runs just fine, and it is quite powerful and peppy.  It has full power and accessories, since it was a deluxe model.   I should get floor mats for it, but those might be expensive.   It has carpeting in it now that might get dirty.   I also put a spare tire valve cap on the passenger side front wheel.   The front blinker bulb that needs replacing is in the front seat divider compartment.  After tweaking the car, I uninstalled Microsoft Windows Live OneCare from the primary computer, and I put Norton Internet Security 7 back on it, and that fixed the problems I had with the weather pulse program and the Microsoft Money 2006 program not working.  It was a OneCare beta, so it still has a way to go.   The reinstallation of Norton Internet Security 2007 seems to run better than the original installation.   I put the 60 day demo of it back on the FIC server.   I will now microwave a Stouffer's 16 ounce roast turkey breast dinner, which I will eat with a glass of iced tea.   Earlier I called GEICO, and I took the Volvo off my policy, and I put the Buick on my Policy.  I have the same policy, but this time instead of $500 deductible, I got a $25 deductible which is about $75 more every six months.   Thus I will be paying about $360 every six months.   I think the policy has a lot of liability besides comprehensive, medical, and collision.   I will now do a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  After the backup, I will shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 10:00 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I walked over to the Valley Road Post Office, but they do not open until 8:30 A.M. on Saturday not 8 A.M..   I had put a .39 stamp on the letter to GEICO with the Volvo title.   I paid $7.90 to send it registered mail and $1.85 to get a return receipt for $9.75 total.   For some reason my Microsoft Money 2006 program will not go online, and when I start it up off line, it only shows transactions through March 1, 2007.   Once it goes online, I will have to fix that.   I walked back home from the post office.   A friend called me, and he is going to bring over the 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon later on this afternoon.   He says the battery took a charge, so hopefully I will not need a new battery.   It supposedly has a full tank of gasoline.  Once I have enough funds next week, I will register it in my name and transfer the title in my name and the insurance and transfer the plates.    I have to have enough funds to pay for the Connecticut sales tax on the car, which my friend said they might charge me the retail book value of the car.  Well, my friend will leave it in his name until we get the paper work done, so I will have access to a car to go downtown for my evening walks.   I really do not have funds until the first of the month to do anything, but once I get the insurance check, I should have the funds to pay for the car and transfer the papers.   I will now take a nap until my friend arrives.  I will shut down the primary computer.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 7:00 A.M.:  I watched some television.   I found the little Scottish flag on the floor where it had fallen off the FIC server monitor on to the floor, so I put it back on top of the monitor.   I then decided I had better luck when the other flags were flying instead of displaying all of the books in the hallway.   I put the Saudi Arabian flag over the left hallway bookcase and then the United States Air Force flag over that and then the Swedish flag over that.   I then put the 50 star United States of America flag over the right hallway bookcase and then I put the large Cross of St. Andrews flag over that.   Thus we are back into X man formation.   I chatted with a Canadian this week that lives in New London, Connecticut, so maybe he got the message through to Canada.  I do not always rely on email, since I can chat with people whom I know a little bit more clearly.   Princess Anne is suppose to be in charge of the Scottish Rescue Service, but I do not think they have any interest in America, because the Scottish tend to maintain a low key obscure presence in North America.  I will go out about 7:15 A.M..   For some reason the Weather Pulse Program is not working on the primary Vista machine.    It is stuck at the storm alert for last Sunday.   I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it comes up with the same storm alert and then freezes.   Maybe there was some sort of a bug in the National Weather Service forecast last Sunday.   It works fine on the FIC XP server.   I will now shut down the primary Vista computer.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 5:30 A.M.:  I made and ate the same breaded boneless breast of chicken dinner as a couple of nights ago.   CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 04/21/07:

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 4:00 A.M.:  Most Stolen Luxury Cars - Forbes.comCities On Volcanoes 5 .  I found the email for the Microsoft Windows Live OneCare beta with product registration number.   Microsoft Ready-to-Go Campaigns Windows Vista: Special Offers http://www.taftalumni.com/ .   I will now send out my weekly notes.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 3:15 A.M.:   After I finished cleaning up, I took the hanging shoe pack out of my right living room closet, and I reorganized some more of the shoes between the floors of both living room closets.   I mailed in the ballot to The Taft School in the mail room downstairs.  I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 1:55 A.M.:    I activated my Chase Vista debit card, and I shredded the old Bank of New York MasterCard Debit card.   I signed the Connecticut title for the Volvo, and I prepared a letter and envelope to mail it all to GEICO.   I will mail it registered mail, so I will walk over to the Valley Road Post Office and mail it Registered Mail at 8 A.M. this morning when they open on Saturday.   For registered mail, you have to present the letter to a retail employee at the postal counter.   I will now shower and clean up.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 12:45 A.M.:  Actually the Microsoft saved email seems to still be there.   My product  key for the one year perpetual Microsoft Live OneCare beta disappeared, but since I have already installed it, I do not need it.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/21/07 Saturday 12:35 A.M.:   I finished watering the plants and throwing out the garbage.   I did a Vista Complete PC backup of the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.   For some reason in my Outlook 2007 email program all of the Microsoft and Microsoft Beta saved email back to 2007 has been deleted.   I can not figure out how that happened, unless the archive feature automatically eliminates it.   I will now shower and clean up.   I will not be going for an early morning walk, because as I learned last time I did not have a car, there is no place to go to the bathroom at night.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/20/07 Friday 11:15 P.M.:   I chatted with a friend after the last message.   I organized my shoes on the bottom floor of both living room closets, and I put the better dress shoes on the floor of the left living room closet.  I have my regular activity day shoes on the floor of the right living closet.   I went to bed.   I got up at 10 P.M..   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, two toasted English muffins with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I will now water the plants, and I will throw out the old periodical literature and the garbage.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/20/07 Friday 1:30 P.M.:  Windows Live OneCare - Home .   I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 7.0 from the primary Vista computer.   At http://connect.microsoft.com/ , I was given a year's license for the Microsoft Perpetual Windows LiveOne Care beta, so I installed it on the primary Vista machine, and I ran its maintenance feature defragmenting the first hard drive.   I then did Vista  Complete PC backup of the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I uninstalled 60 day demo of Norton Internet Security 7.0 from the FIC server.   I then installed Norton Internet Security 7.0 on it, and I activated the Norton Internet Security 7.0 license on it.    I found this car for sale http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=ascending&sortfield=MILES+ascending%2CPRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_9_%7CB-10000%7CD-_7214_%7CN-N%7CR-75%7CI-1%7CP-MILES+ascending%2CPRICE+descending%7CQ-ascending%7CZ-06830&aff=national&paId=226081682&recnum=6&leadExists=true 2006 Chevrolet Aveo $5,950 with 12,101 miles.   I left a message with the seller that I was interested.   I chatted with a relative.  I was called back on this car http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=1&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=ascending&sortfield=MILES+ascending%2CPRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_19_%7CB-6000%7CN-N%7CR-75%7CI-1%7CP-MILES+ascending%2CPRICE+descending%7CQ-ascending%7CZ-06830&aff=national&paId=225977910&recnum=82&leadExists=true 2000 Hyundai Elantra GLS $5,900 30,320 miles.   I chatted with the individual for a while, and told him I might be interested.  I got a hold of the individual selling the Aveo, and I chatted with him, and I told him I might be interested.   He told me he is near the Long Island railroad if I wanted to pick up the car.  It was used for a year to commute into Manhattan, but it seems to be a very good value.   I then chatted with a relative again.   I then called up a friend, and the friend offered to sell me his 1992 Buick Roadmaster station wagon in Burgundy and wood veneer with 113,789 miles for $1,000 http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?ManufacturerId=7&YearId=1992&VehicleClass=UsedCar&VehicleId=NC8yMi8yMDA3fDExNDgx&PriceType=Private+Party&ModelId=486&Mileage=110000&SelectionHistory=11481%7c3346%7c06830%7c100%7c10%7c403718%7ctrue%7c403704%7ctrue%7c403731%7ctrue%7c403741%7ctrue%7c403762%7ctrue&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=0 .   I chatted with a relative, and the relative advised me to get it.   I then called the friend, and I told the friend that I would get the car.   The friend will deliver the car early next week, and then I will have to register it.   I chatted with a relative.   Stamford Volvo called that they were on their way to pick up the spare set of tires.  I brought the tires down with my folding cart, and just as I had finished bringing them down, Stamford Volvo showed up and picked up the tires.   They also had the original hub caps.  I now have more room on my left living room closet floor.   I will move some of my extra shoes there.    I started the FIC server in XP, so it has the IBM http://mikelouisscott.com/stat.htm footer.   One can do a lot more in XP on the server than in the Vista Server.   I chatted with GEICO, and I am suppose to mail the Volvo title to them, and they gave me an address.  The final settlement on the car is $4,288.02, most of which I will return to the relative whom leant the money for the car to begin with, less the cost of the Buick and title and taxes and registration transfer.   I might also need a new battery for the Buick.   The Buick is suppose to get 26 miles per gallon, but I am not sure that is highway or local.  I got my new Chase Bank Check card, but I still have to activate it.   I will try to mail the registration tomorrow registered mail.   I will now shut down the primary computer.  I am a bit tired, so I will now eat a frozen taco meal with some iced tea, and then I will go to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/20/07 Friday 4:30 A.M.:  If I need to travel a short distance to buy a car, I could rent a car at Enterprise Rent-A-Car: Rental Cars at Everyday Low Rates from Port Chester, New York for about $60 a day, and I have www.geico.com rental car coverage for about $35 a day with $750 maximum, so they would pick up about half the bill, but using Enterprise, the bill would be sent to GEICO.  However, I first have to talk to GEICO about that, and they do not have claims agents available until 8 A.M..   The primary Vista computer http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm is much more responsive and running much more smoothly with the 750 watt power supply.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/20/07 Friday 3:55 A.M.:  I woke up at 3 A.M..   I went through my car tool box, and I found a few plastic license plate bolts and nut in case I need them.  I will now go through my email.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/19/07 Thursday 11:10 P.M.:  I am a bit tired.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.    I probably will not be doing house cleaning tomorrow, since I want to look into some used cars.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/19/07 Thursday 10:05 P.M.:   I am making the same bread boneless breast of chicken meal that I made Sunday night.   I will eat it with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/19/07 Thursday 6:30 P.M.:  I woke up at 1 P.M..   I looked at www.cars.com looking for low mileage inexpensive cars.    I chatted with my social worker later on in the day, and I am limited to a value of car of $4,500 wholesale.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo, and coffee.   I chatted with a relative a couple of times.   I called up Stamford Volvo, and they are coming by tomorrow afternoon to pick up the set of original wheels I had for my Volvo stored in the left living room closet.   Thus I will have more room for my shoes in the left living room closet floor area.  The original set of Volvo wheels have an old set of snow tires on them.  I took the new Four Flower power supply out of the primary computer, and I stored it away with in its box to have it as a spare.   About the time I did that UPS delivered Newegg.com - PowerTek 750W F5-Series ATX12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Retail for $99.99 and Newegg.com - Silverstone 6" Power Cable Kit Model SST-PP01 - Retail for $4.59 to convert it from 24 pin to 20 pin for my ATX motherboard plus $8.94 1 day UPS shipping less $1.16 Preferred Account Discount plus $2.99 Rush Processing less $2.99 free Rush Processing for $112.36 total, which tracking was UPS: Tracking Information .   I installed it in the primary vista computer http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .   The computer seems to be more responsive with the extra power.   The high powered video card and all of the extra USB devices use a lot more power than a regular computer.    I did not need to use the power adapter, since the new power supply extra 4 pins slips off the 20 pin connector.    I went outside, and I threw out the garbage, and I chatted with some neighbors.   I picked up my mail.   I received my www.aarp.org sticker for 2008.   I will now look at www.cars.com .   The Greenwich Times classified cars are listed in www.cars.com .  I was told there are a lot of cars for sale in the Danbury, Connecticut area with the large dealers there, so I might look for a dealer in that area.   I will search for cars up to $6,000 looking for low mileage more recent models and good mileage per gallon of fuel.   I doubt if I will find a wagon.   I really do not want a stick shift since I drive in local traffic most of the time, and I should have air conditioning if I can get an inexpensive car with it.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/19/07 Thursday 2:00 A.M.:    I channel surfed the television.   I ate two scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.  Maybe now that I have more time to spend at home, I should try to do some more creative writing, but from what I know I am not that good of a writer.   Five Green Fixes for Your Home .   BBC NEWS | UK | England | Dorset | Gardener downs his tools at 104 .   Well, I will now shut down the primary computer shortly.    I imagine with a the 750 watt power supply replacing the 500 watt power supply, it should start up a bit faster and have more power for its accessories, so possibly it will work a little bit better.   I quite frankly do not know if it consumes 750 watts all of the time, or if it just has a peak capacity of 750 watts.   I would assume, it only draws on what is being used at the time, and more than likely the startup of the computer is the peak demand.    Well from what I know about home computers from experience, it is a bit time consuming and a bit expensive, but the immediate access to the latest information is most handy to use in one's daily routine.    Having read a lot of periodical literature in my time, I have a general sense of what basic journalistic principles are, but at the same time since I am basically a private individual, I do not have a sense of what the general mood of the general public is in terms of the internet.   I would imagine most people use it for their own personal needs in much the way a library would be used.  I watch the television programming to get a sense of the mood of the general public.   Well have a good morning, and I will do some car hunting on the internet later on today.   I do not know if I will be up early enough to walk over to my 3 P.M. appointment, and my 3 P.M. appointment might be busy with some of the other activity around town as a result of the flooding this past weekend.    I have been having a hard time sleeping recently, so hopefully I will get a good morning's sleep today.   I am sure there are plenty of private people here whom never face members of the general public.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/18/07 Wednesday 8:05 P.M.:    I rested after the last message.   About 9:30 A.M., Stamford Volvo called me to tell me the insurance adjuster had inspected the car, and it is a complete loss.   I rested for another two hours, and the GEICO insurance adjuster called, and told me the same thing, and that there was water in the air filter and through out the engine.   Apparently the air intake on the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Station wagon is very low to the ground.   They said they would auction the car off to a salvage yard, and they would give me the value of the car about $4,750 less the $500 deductible.   I agreed.   I was told I would have to get my stuff out of the car, so they could tow it away from Stamford Volvo, and they would send me paper work to sign, and I would send it in with the title, and they would send me the check.   Thus I guess it will be a while before I get the check to get another car.   On my SSI disability, I am only allowed to have a car of maximum wholesale value of about $4,000.    I looked at www.bargainnews.com , and there are some options, but possibly not at my price.   I was told by the adjuster a Hyundai or Kia would not hold its value.   I was told to look into a Honda, Nissan, or Toyota, but those are more expensive cars than I can not afford in a low mileage car.   I chatted with a relative, and the relative suggested looking into a low mileage Subaru.   I mentioned I would like to find a low mileage Buick.   I chatted with a friend that drives a lot.   I called Stamford Volvo, and they sent their courtesy van over to pick me up at my apartment, and they brought me to their dealership to pick up the items from the car, and its paperwork and Connecticut license tags.   I packed them all into a green duffle bag that I brought along.  I gave them two other car keys to go with the key they had.   GEICO paid for the inspection and storage.   I then was returned to my apartment by the same Stamford Volvo courtesy van.   I sorted out the items in the duffle bag back around the apartment.   I put most of the items for the car in a medium size leather bag underneath the French Antique reproduction chair, and many other items with similar items around the apartment.   I put the Connecticut license tags on the wicker rack on the mahogany chest in the bedroom.   I chatted with a neighbor.   I chatted with other neighbors when going out.   I chatted with a relative and two friends.   I also chatted with GEICO again to let them know the car was available to be towed away.    I microwaved and ate one of the homemade frozen 16 ounce taco meals, which I ate with a glass of iced tea.   Five minutes is about the right time for the homemade frozen taco meal.    I will now try to collect my thoughts and think about what to do next.    CIO

Note:<888> 04/18/07 Wednesday 12:15 A.M.:  I left the Samsung all purpose laser fax, copier, printer, and scanner turned and connected to my Optimum Voice unlimited telephone line at 1-203-532-5474, in case anyone ever wants to send me a fax.   The two computer magazine calls today asked me for fax numbers.   GraveyardMall.com Newegg.com - XEROX 6120/N Laser Workgroup Color Printer - Retail .  I keep opening that something else caused antifreeze to be mixed with my motor oil, and it is not the head gasket.   However, the car did start running roughly after it stall in about 10 inches of water, and I pushed it out to a couple of inches of water, and then I started it.  Thus the car was running when it stalled out in the water, but I had to push it out to get it started, and then run it a bit more to get it going.   My viewpoint with all of the electronics on newer cars it could have been anything, and also when I pushed it out of the water it started up after trying it about three times.   I have three witnesses whom were standing on the hill at the house on the corner just east of the Old Greenwich Presbyterian church, and they watched me go through the process.   I keep thinking and hoping that instead of the head gasket that having the leaky coolant overflow hose that it might have cause some sort of system problem, and possibly the ping might be from the engine running roughly when I first started it up, and possibly it skipped a tooth on the timing belt.   I drive the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon so little, I do not have much of a chance to test it out except for when I drive to Kennebunkport, Maine round trip each summer.   The car ran fine going out to Hauppauge, Long Island and back for the Microsoft Conference at the Hyatt Hotel there, so possibly whatever flooded the engine and then restarting it might have caused the problem.   I have around 105,815 miles on it, and when I got it from a relative at 98,500 miles October 2004, it had been fully serviced and maintained at Jim Wynn Volvo Norristown Pennsylvania Volvo dealer new cars used cars trucks SUVs S80 V50 XC90 auto repair auto parts where it had been purchased new and maintained by a relative.   I think the new price of it back in 1995 with taxes was around $35,000, so it is a very good car, and I have all of the original and maintenance paper work on it.

Note:<888> 04/17/07 Tuesday 11:55 P.M.:   I chatted with a friend at 8 A.M. this morning who was driving up I-91 North to Hartford, Connecticut, and he said there were a lot of closed roads due to flooding along the Connecticut River.   He was going to University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut west of Hartford for less expensive crown or cap dental work done at their dental school.   I have not heard from him if he made it there or returned.   I will not go through my email, and I will do some regular computer work.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/17/07 Tuesday 10:50 P.M.:  I woke up at 7 A.M. this morning.   I drank a glass 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo with vitamins and supplements.   I chatted with the service department at Volvo of Westport -Sales, Service of New, Used and Certified Volvo Cars in Westport, Connecticut .   I went back to bed until 3 P.M..   I had two computer magazine telephone calls including one from the Philippines, which was very technical. I called up Stamford Volvo is a New, Pre-owned and used Volvo dealer serving Fairfield county Connecticut and Westchester county New York, volvo parts and service , and they told me their service department is opened until 6 P.M..   I then went out without and showering and cleaning up, and I drove U.S. 1 East to Stamford, Connecticut, and I turned south after the Stamford Marriott Hotel, and I then turned east after going underneath I-95 and the railroad, and I drove east to Stamford Volvo.   Thus I did not risk the car driving at high speed on the highway.   I gave them the information along with the GEICO www.geico.com insurance telephone number and policy number, and they told me it would be about an hour labor to check it out, and they would call me back tomorrow.   Their shuttle service normally runs until 5 P.M., but they gave me a ride about 5:30 P.M. to the Stamford Train Station, and I noticed they still have the Harley-Davidson shop Country Selector shop along the back road to the Stamford train station known as the McKinney transportation named for Congressman McKinney whom my public housing project McKinney Terrace is also named after.     I used the Metronorth ticket machine in the train station and for a dollar, I bought a handicapped one way ticket from Stamford to Greenwich.   I caught the 6:02 P.M. local train out of Stamford, to Greenwich, and on the short train ride, I noticed quite a few flooded pond areas along the waterfront.   I then walked up Greenwich Avenue, and I stopped by the Senior and the Arts center, and I also stopped by CVS.   I then stopped by the Welcome to Greenwich Library! , and I chatted with two of the reference librarians, and then I walked home west on West Putnam Avenue.  I sat out at Welcome to McDonald's rear terrace, and I had a cigarette, and then I finished my walk home.   At the West Putnam Avenue office of www.chase.com , one has to cross the street to the north side of the street there, because the sidewalk ends on that side shortly thereafter.   Also at the southwest corner behind the Food Emporium, the sidewalk is so steeply inclined, it can be dangerous there.   There was no standing water on the roadway, so I was not splashed by passing cars and trucks.   From what I could see coming and going, it was the normal traffic pattern for that time of day.  I called up www.geico.com ,and I told them what I had done, and we will wait to hear from Stamford Volvo.    I left the Greenwich Automotive Service station Exxon maintenance receipt with Stamford Volvo for them to look at.   I turned off the electric heat in the apartment, and I turned off the Honeywell Hepa purifier, since if I do not eat cinnamon, it might smell better.   I showered, and I cleaned up.  In the mail, I got my first printed copy of US News & World Report - Breaking News, World News, Business News, and America's Best Colleges - USNews.com , which I left on top of the Toshiba laptop on the brass and glass coffee table.  I have a 40 issue subscription.   I also got an advertisement from Welcome to Mimosa Bay with telephone number at 1-888-646-6724 Ext. 124.   Of course they can get tropical weather too, and it can be a bit cool there in the winter, and it can be hot in the summer, but I am sure some people like the four seasons climate there.   A lot of people whom can not afford Florida are retiring to North Carolina.   Even Bill Graham who once lived in Vero Beach, Florida TCPalm moved in retirement to North Carolina, but I think he lives up in the mountains.    I will now eat the same meal as I ate early Monday morning.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/16/07 Monday 6:40 P.M.:  In thinking about what Exxon said after I chatted with them again.   I think I might still not have a blown head gasket.   They think the head gasket is blown because I had foamy oil, but possibly some water got into the oil, and the head gasket might be all right.   Also I have put in Sunoco, Castrol, Exxon, and Mobil oil in the car in filling it up more frequently than I should have to.   I thought the car was burning more oil locally.   However, when the oil was changed in Kennebunkport, Maine last July 2006 at the Sunoco station there, I noticed on my trip down from Maine, it consumed over 2.5 quarts of oil, but no antifreeze.   They put in a NAPA oil filter, and there was oil on the ground underneath my car for most of the last year, so possibly I thought I had an oil leak somewhere in the car or from the NAPA oil filter.   The car did not burn oil going up to Maine, except the usual consumption of about a half quart, so something happened in Kennebunkport, Maine last July 2006 to cause the car to burn more oil, which possibly might have been the Sunoco oil change.   However, they only put in 4 quarts of oil, and the car uses about 6 quarts of oil, so possibly they did not fill the oil all the way up at the Sunoco oil change.   I have consumed about eight quarts of motor oil since then in about 2,500 miles driving mostly locally.  Possibly water got into the oil or the mixture of oil makes it look foamy like the head gasket is blown.   The ping sound if it is not the bearing might possibly be water in the fuel system.   I could have gotten water in the fuel system when I drove through the flooded area, and a little while before that I had filled up the gasoline tank at the Connecticut - New York Exxon station on the Greenwich border.   Possibly with the flooding along the Byram River, water got into their fuel tanks, and that might be possibly causing the pinging sound in the motor.   I did have a leak in the antifreeze overflow container hose from the thermostat to the coolant overflow container, which hose I replaced.   Although I do not drive too much, I will have to wait until it dries out a bit in this area, and I will have to wait until I fill the tank a couple of times to see if that makes any difference.   I will monitor the oil and coolant to see if there are any changes.  At least I still have a useable car for local driving.   Of course it might take some time to drive enough to see if the car has water in its fuel.   I chatted with the building custodian and my next door neighbor.  They still have a couple of pictures of hand grenades for sale at the art galley west of the Greenwich Y.M.C.A., but they no longer display them in the window.  The Greenwich, Connecticut schools are supposedly out this week, so possibly people are away, and there is not as many town staff available for the recent flooding situation.   I can not afford to move around enough to access the situation, but there is still a lot of daytime traffic in this area.   Stamford rivers overflow banks - Greenwich Time .  I chatted with www.geico.com for a quite a while.   They explained to me under my comprehensive insurance policy, I would be covered if I needed to have the engine replaced or repaired less the $500 deductible.   They suggested that when I have time, I should take it to a www.volvo.com dealership for a second opinion.  I chatted briefly with a relative, and I explained the situation.  I also ate three scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.   The direct www.geico.com number is 1-800-459-4038.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/16/07 Monday 3:30 P.M.:   I ate a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle low fat sour cream and onion potato chips after the last message.  I then rested.   I had a call from Greenwich Automotive Services Exxon station about 9:30 A.M..   They said I had antifreeze and oil mixed together in my oil, so the problem is probably a bad head gasket.   They told me that the pinging sound is a bad bearing.   They said the catalytic converter was all right, but driving threw the flooded area in Old Greenwich caused the MAF sensor to not work, and it would need to be replaced for about $300.   They said with the bad bearing the head gasket could not simply be replaced, but I would have to replace the whole engine which would cost about $4,000, which is not worth it.   The head gasket problem was a preexisting problem before I drove through the flooded area, so it would not be covered by my automobile insurance.   The cheapest solution was to change the oil and oil filter, and flush out the engine with motor additive detergent first and do a motor flush and blow it out with compressed air.   I authorized them to do it.  I chatted with two relatives, and I went back to bed.   I was called again at 11:30 A.M. that the car was ready.   I walked back to the Exxon garage next to the Greenwich Library, and I was splashed a few times by traffic on the highway.   I chatted with another regular walker and waterfront observer on the way.   He tried to interest me in buying a Ferrari while we walked by their dealership.   I stopped for a cigarette break outside the Stop and Shop.  A relative paid for the car repair.  I picked up the car.

The itemized bill is:

Check Catalytic converter, engine got water in MAF sensor and has blown head gasket $44.50

Oil Change, includes change oil, replace oil filter, top off vital fluids, lubricate chassis where possible, perform 20 point maintenance check.  $19.58

Parts:  $44.79

Supply Charge:  $4.35

Subtotal:  $113.22

Sales Tax:  $6.79

Total:  $120.01

I then returned home.   The car seemed to be running the same as before, but it has the pinging sound from the bad bearing.   I chatted with some neighbors and the building custodian.  I then went out, and I went by Gateway Auto Supply, and I bought a 15 ounce container of STP STP® - Fuel & Oil Additives oil treatment for $3.99.   I was told that apparently there is a lot of snow up north.  Earlier this morning, I chatted with a friend on Long Island, and they do have electricity out there.   I put the STP oil treatment in the engine oil, and I saved the STP container in the rear of the car, and I returned home.   The car seems to be running pretty much the way it did before I drove through the flooded area.  The Check Engine light is no long coming on, so maybe changing the oil fixed the MAF sensor.  I was told that if I drive it locally, the car might last six months or more, but I was told not to drive it on the highway.   Thus I will not be able to drive it to Maine this summer for vacation.   I was told that with the blown head gasket, I should change the oil more frequently with the antifreeze mixing into the oil.  I will have to monitor antifreeze and oil consumption.   I picked up my mail, and I chatted with a neighbor.   I am having a hard time sleeping, so maybe I will stay awake a while longer.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/16/07 Monday 4:55 A.M.:  I went out after the last message.   I walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at the chairs and tables at the Greenwich Office Park on the south side of the train station, and I admired the Red I-beam sculpture.   I noticed on the way up to Greenwich Avenue that the man hole across from the Police Firing Range was rattling from the force of water in the sewer beneath it being pushed up against it.  They put in new larger sewer pipes there about five years ago.   I stopped by the Greenwich Post Office, and I sat out at the World War I veterans monument admiring the tulips in front of the Post Office.   I then sat out in front of the Senior and the Arts Center, and I admired the Machine Man sculpture.  I straightened up the Arts on Greenwich Avenue sign.   I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I guess the mist is so heavy, one can not see any lights out on Long Island, not even a spot light.   I then drove by the Greenwich Train station, and I said Good Morning to the regular news staff there waiting for the papers to arrive.   I then returned home.   At 5:45 A.M., I will drive over to Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service station which is suppose to open at 6 A.M. on Monday, and I will see if they can check out my car today.  It seems that probably the exhaust clamp on the new catalytic converter came lose, and it needs to be tightened again, so the car does not sputter.  If they can tighten it today, I will leave it there, and I will walk back home.   If not I will have it done later on this week.   I want it done right away, so in case in an emergency I had to drive further it would not separate.   It seems to be all right for local driving, so it could wait until later this week to be tightened.     There is a new catalytic converter pipe system in there, so there should not be any parts that need to be replaced because of rust.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/16/07 Monday 3:00 A.M.:  I opened up the package of six boneless chicken breasts, and I put four of them in a large flat Rubbermaid container.   I then rinsed off the other two in cold water, and I dried them with a paper towel.   I then put a thin coat of olive oil in a Pyrex pie dish, and on a separate plate, I rubbed the bottom side of the boneless chicken breasts with olive oil, and then I spread a thick coating of seasoned bread crumbs on it, and then I did the same with the top side and the other boneless chicken breasts.   I then put them in the Pyrex pie dish, and I baked them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.  I also made up a batch of http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/mlsrice.htm to which I also added one teaspoons of Kikkoman soy sauce and Old Bay Seasoning and chicken bullion seasoning.  I ate half, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I also steamed in a three quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid about 1.5 cups of baby carrots and broccoli spears for 15 minutes on medium high electric burner heat,  I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I will now go back out, and I will take my usual walk on Greenwich Avenue.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/16/07 Monday 1:20 A.M.:   I chatted with a relative.  I went out after the last message.   I went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a package of six boneless breasts of chicken for $1.69 a pound for $6.01, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, a 3 pound bag of onions for $2.49, and fresh Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound  for $1.36 for $12.85 total.   The Greenwich Automotive Exxon service station was closed next to the Greenwich Library.   I went to the Exxon station on the state line with New York across from my building, and I bought $25.86 of premium unleaded gasoline at 5 cents off on Sunday at $3.299 a gallon for 130.2 miles driving since the first of the month at 16 miles per gallon averaging 15 miles per hour.   I then dropped the groceries off at my building, and I chatted with a neighbor.   I then went to the Cos Cob Laundromat.   I had to take exit 3 to exit 4 on I-95 because East Putnam Avenue had flooding by the Greenwich High School.   I put each of the two comforters in two separate washing machines for $2 each and I put a half cap of liquid Tide in each prewash holder and a full liquid cap of Tide in each regular wash holder.   There was high water over a foot deep by the Cos Cob fire station at the road intersection.   The Cos Cob fire station responded to a number of calls including a call where they brought a rubber boat.   I then put each comforter in its own separate dryer, and I put three quarters or .75 each in each for 21 minutes drying time.   One dryer was not working properly, so I had to put another .50 in another machine to dry the other comforter, when I discovered it was not dry.   Thus the laundry cost $6.   I then decided to check out the conditions in Old Greenwich.   Instead of driving in the main way by the Walgreens intersection, I turned by St. Catherine's Church, and I took the back way.  However, the area at the rotary in front of the Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church had about a foot of water, and it was not blocked off.   My car stalled out in the middle of the small pond about 500 yards in diameter.   I got out of the car, but water did not come into the car, so it was less than a foot deep.   I was wearing my low L.L. Bean boots, but they filled up with water.  I left the car in neutral, and I was able to push it further eastward until it was in a few inches of water, and I was able to drive it out with it sputtering, and I parked by CVS in Old Greenwich.   The Check Engine light is now on indicating something wrong with the emissions system.   There is a sputtering sound like there might be an exhaust leak.   I checked the fuses to make sure none of them was blown.   None of the other warning lights come on.  However, the EMS light comes on when one starts the car, and one has to turn back the ignition key a fraction to get it to go out so the lights work, which they do not if it is on.   I saw trucks going down to the shoreline in Old Greenwich and large front end loader machines, so there must be flooding down there.   I returned back via the main road which is not flooded by Binney Park, and the area by the Greenwich High School is still flooded, so I went from Exit 4 to Exit 3 o I-95.   I stopped by the Exxon station, and there is no way to drop the car off at night.   I think they will be busy tomorrow, so I will take it by on Tuesday, if the "Check Engine" light still comes on after the car dries out a bit.  Possibly I got some water in the exhaust system, but I would think it would have dried out by now.    The Check Engine light means an Emissions problem.   Everything else on the car seems to run fine, but it did hesitate a bit on the highway at a higher speeds coming back.  I changed into dry socks, and I hung my wet clothes out to dry.   I put each of the two clean comforters back on either far end of the couches to have available until warmer weather arrives.   If the Catalytic converter separated it should be covered under warranty, since that was replaced this past summer at the Greenwich Automotive Exxon Service station next to the Greenwich Library.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/15/07 Sunday 7:55 P.M.:  I went back to bed until 6 P.M..  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I washed the pillow cases from the four pillows underneath the French reproduction chair, and the sheet, and the white blanket from the back of the down sofa.   I have 15 minutes to go on the dry cycle.   I am making up a batch of Formula Two http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .    Once I put the dried linens away, and I put the tea in the refrigerator, I plan to go out.   I have already showered and cleaned up.   I am charging up the two rechargeable lanterns in the bedroom.   When I go out, I have to go by the Stop and Shop, Exxon, and then at the Cos Cob laundry, where I will wash and dry the other two comforters.   I might take a walk afterwards if the rain lets up, which it is suppose to do at 10 P.M..   I will now eat one of the homemade frozen taco meals that I made to have a little nourishment.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/15/07 Sunday 2:35 P.M.:  I woke up at 1:30 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana and honey, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   On the Epox computer or computer with red case, I turned off the switch in the power supply at the rear of the CPU case, because for some reason it was turning on automatically, but of course it would stop at the password.    Since it is suppose to be very damp for the next two or three days, I turned the living room thermostat to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and I set the Honeywell tower fan above the electric radiators to low speed on swivel to mvoe the heat around, so briefly it should be a little bit warmer and less damp in the apartment.   I can always turn it off whenever I go to bed.  Of course hopefully, we will get some warmer days soon.  I will now wash the breakfast dishes, and I will make my bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/13/07 Friday 7:15 P.M.:  I chatted with a relative to wished the relative Happy Birthday.  I watched some of the children's television programming on television.   I guess children still watch television, but it is hard to tell what the adults do at night besides go out to dinner.   I will now wash the breakfast dishes.   I will then water the plants, and I will put out more white vinegar in the white vinegar scent bowl.   I will then throw out the old periodical literature.   If the laundry is not busy, I will do two loads of laundry, and I will put fresh linens on the bed.   Since it is damp outside in April, and since I have arthritis, I tend not to spend too much time outside in the damp spring weather.   Such is life.  I guess it is up all night with Michael on the New Amsterdam Dutch night watch.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/13/07 Friday 6:05 P.M.:  I was awake at 3 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a half teaspoon of Certo with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I went back to bed until now, when I chatted with a friend whom was having problems with his speaker on the cell phone.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/13/07 Friday 3:05 A.M.:   Happy Birthday to a relative.   I woke up yesterday at noon. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I received Newegg.com - Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L250R0 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - OEM for $59.99 with free shipping less 1.1% preferred account discount of .66 with rush order processing of $2.99 less preferred account discount of $2.99 for $59.33 total with UPS: Tracking Information .   I went out to my 3 P.M. appointment, and then I returned home.   I picked up my mail, and I received the $50 rebate on the Samsung all purpose laser printer, fax, copier, and scanner.  I then went to the Greenwich Housing Authority meeting in the community room about the Vinci Drive residential area.   They are proposing to rebuild Quarry Knoll in the center of town, and before that, they are planning to building a senior residence complex at the east side at the south end of family units at Vinci Drive which would have thirty 650 square foot apartments for seniors.   Once that was completed, some of the residents of Quarry Knoll would be moved in there,  and then they would rebuild Quarry Knoll with about 70 senior and family units.   Then at this location at Vinci Drive, those who wanted to be moved back to Quarry Knoll would be moved back.   At the north end of 71 Vinci Drive, they would eliminate the two apartments, and then they would put in 18 new apartments for seniors that would be about 650 square feet each.   The final phase of the three year project would be to continue Vinci Drive in a circle around the woods to the east of the building back to the entrance area, and they would construct about 30 new family units of about 1200 square feet.   However, the project is still in the planning stage, and it has not yet been approved or funded.  Apparently the vacant land is owned by the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut and not the Greenwich Housing Authority, so they would have to acquired it.  Also a friend told me that entire wooded area to the east of the building is rock ledge, so the construction costs might be too expensive to build new housing there.   I chatted with a friend about it.   I installed the new Maxtor 250 Gigabyte hard drive in the Bytecc enclosure, and I install the used Maxtor 160 Gigabyte hard drive from the Bytecc enclosure as the second hard drive in the Epox computer.  I installed the Windows updates on the Epox computer.   I then did a first hard drive to second hard Windows XP Professional Automatic System Recovery backup.   I then booted the Epox computer in Vista Longhorn Server build 6001-1720, and I did a first hard drive to second hard drive backup with its backup utility.  On the Vista primary computer, I did a Vista Complete Backup from the first hard drive to the new Maxtor hard drive in the Bytecc enclosure.   While doing that I ate the same dinner as last night.   I chatted with a relative.  When I rebooted the FIC server to XP Professional, the boot manager would not work.  To get it to work for both Windows XP Professional partition and the Vista Server Longhorn build 6001-1720, I first repaired the XP boot manager by booting the XP disk and selecting the repair option which brings up the DOS window, and I ran "bootfix".   After XP was running, I then booted the Vista DVD, and I used its repair option to fix the boot manager.  Then only the Vista Server would boot, and then I installed the EasyBCD: Vista boot utility - Computeract!ve . Downloads - freeware, shareware, software trials, evaluations - Computeract!ve with the Vista Server, and for XP listed as the earlier operation, I changed the drive letter assignment from C: to D: which it appears as in Vista, and then XP Professional would boot from the boot manager along with the Vista server.   Then in XP I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2005 which had expired, and I downloaded from Adobe www.adobe.com from the link when one downloads the Acrobat Reader, the download for the 60 day demo of Norton Internet Security 2007, which I then installed.    I then started and XP Professional Automatic System Recovery backup to the Bytecc external hard drive from the first C: hard drive.   I then went downtown, and I deposited the Samsung $50 rebate check at the ATM machine at the Chase Bank in the middle of Greenwich Avenue.   That way David Rockefeller will have some money to invest for a few days until I spend some of it at Exxon.   Everyone knows that Greenwich, Connecticut is an Exxon Rockefeller company town except the Vanderbilts whom are totally oblivious to their presence like possibly the Rockefellers are just one of their chauffeurs.   I then returned home.   I noticed some fire trucks moving around downtown around the area at Starbucks, but I did not drive down to investigate.   I then returned home, and I had to restart the backup, I think the screen saver might have caused a problem with it.  I ran Norton WinDoctor on the FIC XP machine before restarting the backup.   After that backup is complete, I have to backup the Toshiba laptop, and then I will have the same backup files on the Bytecc new Maxtor 250 gigabyte external enclosure at I did the other hard drive.   However, I now have more room for a larger Vista backup, if I ever have any programs to install.   I spend so much money on hardware, I can not really afford to buy software.  I also copied the server files to the Bytecc external enclosure.  CIO

_PR022807.pdf  .   Since Greenwich is one of the first towns outside of New York City, a lot of people abandon pets here, so the animal control officer frequently is quite busy with unreported animal problems.  Silver the White German Shepherd White German Shepherd Dog Club International, Inc.™ that I use to walk in Manhattan for my roommate was actually her daughter's dog, and the daughter was the first European flight attendant of China airlines, since she made a Chinese connection with Yoko Ono while she was working the liquor store at the Dakota where John and Yoko lived.   Lisa eventually married a taxi driver from Peking who actually was from a wealthy silk merchant's family who had the first Mercedes in Peking, so ever since then I have seen a lot of people from China investigating me, particularly since we are also neighbors of Ambassador Bush's family in several locations while he was ambassador to China.   The Chinese have a way of catching up with me, when I end up forgetting about them.   I did once read that Prescott Bush was building a Country Club in China that looks like the Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.   Well possibly White German Shephards are also now popular in China.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/12/07 Thursday 4:35 A.M.:   I chatted with the Key West Hotel Resorts & Florida Keys Beach Accommodations - Casa Marina Resort Key West .  It is probably the last place in the United States of America that does not need heat.   Remember I was in Cayo Hueso the year before I met J.B., so I was already involved in the project at the time I met J.B..  I was trying to make Cayo Hueso like a New England resort town with lots of Victorian Gingerbread.   When I was having cocktails at Trader Vics in Chicago, Illinois while going to www.lfc.edu , they had a Dupont Paint Pigment suppliers party going on, and my first friend in Key West had a mother whom was a Dupont.  Rob was somewhat private except for when he walked his Irish Setter.  Maybe he was Rotten Robbie, but the first Halloween I showed up in Key West in 1976 nothing was going on, and there was a small piano bar with a white grand piano where a few people had cocktails near the waterfront.   However, there were a number of cold winters up north starting then, and from that point onward, it seems they have been busy down in South Florida ever since.  Also I knew Moores from Benjamin Moore paint, and Jim Eldert in Key West looked like the Dutch Boy on Dutch Boy Paint, and I knew Williams like in Sherwin Williams, and Sears jumped in with more paint.  I actually did not do to much myself in Key West but walk around exploring the place, and I would read in the library in the morning, and I would go to the beach in the afternoon, and I would walk around in the evening.   On rainy days, one did laundry, and there were about 50 Laundromats in Key West.   Since I was one of the younger people down there in a retirement community, I only knew a couple of people, and since I did not speak Spanish, I did not have much to chat with about with the local people.   Since I did not drink alcohol, I was always trying to figure out ways to fix up the place.   I was somewhat familiar with how much money was up North, so I figured northern people when they started to retire would enjoy visiting a warmer place, if it were fixed up enough.   I call the Casa Marina the Vanderbilt's fishing shack.  It seems to have been built in a simpler style similar to the Biltmore in Coral Gables which is much grander.  When you build a railroad, you always need a place for your guests, and I guess that is why Henry Flagler built hotels along the Florida East Coast Railroad.   With the higher price of gasoline around the northeast, maybe we should start running Conch Trains.  My Vista Computer will go into low power sleep mode and resume quickly, but its fans and power supply are still running.   I tried shutting down in Hibernate, but when I resumed the computer froze, unless I did not wait long enough for it to start up, but the hard disk light was not flashing.  I remembered I had a spare Cable TV cable hooked up in the bedroom, so I untangled it, and I hooked it up to the Northgate Syntax computer Hauppauge TV card, and I had a spare audio cable to hook up the TV card to the sound card, so after letting it scan for channels, there is now a working TV card in the Northgate Syntax computer.  They Northgate Syntax computer sounds like a jet, since it has inexpensive cooling fans and an inexpensive power supply, all of which fans tend to be a bit noisy.  Still it works quite fast, and is available for use should the need arise.  Earlier I went through my email.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/12/07 Thursday 1:10 A.M.:  Back in the good old days of www.polaroid.com and cheap energy, we use to have an outdoor heated swimming pool in Weston, Massachusetts heated by Natural Gas, so we have seen better days.   Of course locally in the area, there is Jim Scott who is well known in the cement business if you get my drift SCOTT SWIMMING POOLS, INC. , or course the landscaping helps to make a difference too.   Since my branch of the Scott family has lived in many warm climates in the United States of America including Florida http://mikelouisscott.com/photo/old-florida-post-card-011506.jpg we obviously have a few friends in the waterfront recreation business.  Come to think of it a 1.25 inch inside diameter accordion swimming pool vacuum hose might fit the problem on the Volvo air duct to the black box, but one would still have to cut out the old piece, and one would have to find 1.25 inside diameter swimming pool hose, when I think most swimming pool vacuum hoses are 2 to 3 inches in diameter.  However, I think bilge pumps on boats have about 1.25 inch inside diameter hoses, but the only Marine supply stores, I know of around up here are in Norwalk, Connecticut, and Bliss Marine has not been in Darien, Connecticut for about a decade.   This is .25 inch two large 1-1/2 Bilge Pump Hose per foot - SHOP.COM , but it might work or this 1-1/8 Bilge Pump Hose per foot - SHOP.COM or Overton's - Maintenance > Hoses & Fittings : Water Hoses, Bilge Pump Hoses, Exhaust Hoses, Fuel Hoses .   Of course it is a 3 to 4 inch replacement, and on the hoses shown, although one could take a 1.5 inch inside diameter hose, and cut slits in its ends lengthwise to reduced the diameter before using the hose clamps, one would still have to cut out the old accordion piece with a hack saw which might be difficult, and I do not want to wreck the existing configuration until I know I have the parts and the tools and funds to do it.   I might be able to use my serrated bread knife to cut out the old piece, but once one reaches the hard plastic, one would really need a hack saw to remove it, if the hack saw would fit into the location.   A tree pruning saw might do the trick however.  However, when I remember it, I might checked the Greenwich Hardware store greenwichhardware Website .  For now the silver duct tape is working just fine on the hair line cracks in the accordion section from the original part.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/11/07 Wednesday 11:50 P.M.:  The Microsoft updates would not install at the busy hour of the morning.  I woke up around 2 P.M.. I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.  I took silver duct tape, and I wrapped it around the intake leak on the plastic 1.25 inch diameter piece of round plastic tube that has an accordion section to reduce vibration.   Thus the leak is sealed.   I did not try to cut out the leaky section, since at either end of the accordion section it is still very hard plastic, and I would need some sort of hack saw to cut it out, if it would fit into the restricted area.  Even if the leaky accordion section were cut out, to install a 1.25 inch inside diameter piece of rubber hose about 4 inches long with hose clamps might not work too well, since the it would not have the flex of the according section that is still installed with the silver duct tape.   Thus for now the repair is done, but I am not sure how well the silver duct tape will hold out against extreme temperature conditions.  There might be a part that one can use to fix it with accordion flex with inside tube diameter of 1.25 inches  about four inches long.   Of course, one might hope Volvo still has the hole part with the accordion unit, but knowing what cars parts and auto labor cost, it would be an expensive repair that is probably not necessary.   Obviously other older Volvos of the same vintage would have had the problem, so maybe they make a repair piece with the accordion flex section.  The type of accordion plastic tubing that used to be on the old types of portable hair dryers might work for a fix.   I next showered, and I cleaned up.   I went by the Arnold Bread outlet, and I bought a 12 pack of Thomas' English muffins for $2.05 and 10% senior discount of .21 for $1.84 total.  I then went by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and there was no parking down there.   I guess with the higher price of energy, more people are just parking their cars and lingering down there instead of cruising.   I next went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   I stopped by CVS, and I chatted with another regular former night person.   They do not stock Potassium Iodine at CVS, but one does not need a prescription to get it.  Basically Potassium Iodine helps prevent radiation sickness by putting potassium iodine in the Thyroid gland, so the Radioactive Iodine does not get into the Thyroid gland, if any were released.   However, I am not sure about that.   I guess one could look for Potassium Iodine on the internet and order it.  Frequently Asked Questions on Potassium Iodide (KI) Anbex, inc Home of Iosat brand of Potassium Iodide .  I then chatted with the former regular night person outside.   I then returned back to the center of town, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.   I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a photographer from Queens, New York.   I then chatted with some library staff and a regular computer patron.   I then returned home.  I made and ate my same sautéed burger with onions with rice and vegetables, but this time instead of sautéing with olive oil and margarine, I used olive oil and 50% less fat Land O Lakes butter, and the meal tasted better.   I chatted with a relative.  I started up the primary Vista Computer with all of the accessories that I have installed, it seems to take about 25 minutes to start up.  Possibly it is indexing all of the old files on my computer which would be time consuming, since I have a lot of them after 16 years.   There should be a way to turn off indexing in Vista to save time starting up the computer.  On my other Vista Server computers, and with the Vista betas without any other configuration, they start up in a minute or two.   I installed the most recent updates, and I had to reboot.   While doing that I watched a CNBC program about Bill Gates.   He looks more out of shape than I am.   Maybe he should take a walk playing golf.   I ate three scoops of sugar free coffee ice cream.  Tracking on Newegg.com - Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L250R0 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - OEM for $59.99 with free shipping less 1.1% preferred account discount of .66 with rush order processing of $2.99 less preferred account discount of $2.99 for $59.33 total is UPS: Tracking Information .   I will now do some regular computer work.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/11/07 Wednesday 8:10 A.M.:   The Northgate Syntax computer is running just fine.  I had to remove the Diamond Stealth PCI 32 meg. video card, and I am using the onboard 32 meg. AGP.  I put in the spare Hauppauge TV card, but I have not yet connected it to the cable TV system.  I also replaced the used round IDE cable with a new flat IDE ribbon cable.   I was able to restore the backup without any problems after installing the operating system.   I am now making a first drive to second drive backup.   I will then shut it down.  I finished off the tube of Pringle low fat sour cream  and onion potato chips.   BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Nasa aims for June shuttle launchBBC NEWS | Technology | Microsoft fixes 'critical' flaws .  I will now install the updates, and then I will shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/11/07 Wednesday 1:00 A.M.:   I threw out the shipping box.   I put the red shorts in the bottom drawer in the white bureau in the bedroom.   I installed the items in the Northgate Syntax computer as described in the earlier note below.   It is also updated in http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .   I also installed one of the new Modware CPU coolers with the AMD Athlon 2000 processor.   I was able to installed the Modware CPU cooler in the tight space by removing its fan, and then installing the heat sink, and then I used a small ratchet wrench with Phillips head to reinstalled the fan on the heat sink, so there is a new CPU cooler in the case.   I also put a used round IDE cable on the hard drives which is still good instead of the ribbon cable.   I put in a newer second generic LAN card.   The system seems to be running much faster, and I am now restoring the backup from the Maxtor external hard drive to the computer.   Once the backup is restored, I will have to reinstall the Web Cam software, and I will also install the Roswell keyboard and mouse that I purchased recently.   I ate 3/4th of a tube of low fat Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with some iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/10/07 Tuesday 5:40 P.M.:  On the Northgate Syntax computer, I am going to put in the two spare 20 gigabyte Maxtor hard drives and restore the backup from one of the external hard drives.   I will also take out the AMD Duron 1.8 MHz, and I will put in the AMD Athlon 2000.   I might put in one of the new Modware CPU coolers if it will fit.   I also will take the 512 Meg. 233 MHz memory chip from the Epox and put it in the Northgate Syntax, so it will have that and the 256 Meg. 233 MHz memory chips for 768 megs total, and the two 512 MEG. memory chips left in the Epox will both be PC3200 or 400 MHZ.  When I get the new 250 Gigabyte Maxtor hard drive, I will put it in the Bytecc External Hard Drive, and I will use the Maxtor 160 Gigabyte hard drive in the Epox computer as a backup hard drive.   I will start on doing that shortly.   I received my order from UPS.   I put the new  comforter on end of the bed.   It is very nice.  I put the new hand towels in the bathroom, and I moved the hand towels from the bathroom to the kitchen towel rack.  I will use the old kitchen towels for cleaning.  The Red shorts are very nice.  I left the lens cleaning clothes on the dining table, and I will put them in the printer stand at that location.  I put the new brown gloves on the back of the down sofa with the other pair.   I will now throw out the shipping box.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/08/07 Sunday 1:40 P.M.:  Happy Easter.  I was up at 7 A.M.. I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I showered, and I cleaned up.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   I said good morning to some regular morning people.   I stopped by CVS, and I browsed their circular.   After I finished my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, but is was a full house down there with no place to park.  I then circled back through town, and I returned home.   I checked, the oil on my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo station wagon, and it was topped up.  I checked the air on the tires a month ago.  Once it warms up, I will check them again.  I noticed the overflow 5/8th inch diameter hose from the cooling system thermostat to the coolant overflow container was leaking where it connected to the coolant overflow container, which I guess is why I have been using a bit of extra antifreeze.  I had three 5/8th inch hose clamps upstairs, and a 5/8th inch coolant hose about a foot long and 5/8th inch diameter fuel hose about a foot long.   Either of them would work for the repair, but the coolant hose looked a bit worn, so I installed the 5/8th inch diameter fuel hose with the two 5/8th inch diameter screw driver tighten hose clamps.   I took off the old preshaped hose with was connected with two six pointed star driven screws that I had the bit for in my bit driver box either on top of the tool box underneath the telephone chair or the bit box with my computer repair tools underneath the dining table.  The repair seems good enough for an indefinite time, but when I have time and funds, I will get the preconfigured hose from Volvo and a couple of hose clamps.   I left the old hose and the spare hose and the two old six pointed star clamps and the spare 5/8th inch diameter clamp in a bag in the rear of the Volvo station wagon.  I also left a screw driver on the shelf of the Volvo with the wrench in case I ever need it.  I use the wrench for tightening the windshield wiper blades, since the left one use to slip, but recently it has not, since I put in tooth washers in between the blade and the nut, so it would not slip.  I could put the tool box back in the rear of the Volvo where I use to keep it instead of underneath the telephone chair, but I never drive long distance anymore except one trip to Kennebunkport, Maine each summer.   Since I drive so little the car is in very good shape, but when I can afford it and have time, I will wash and wax it.  I have a new container of Mother's car wax.   I washed my hands with liquid soap, and I put away the tool box underneath the telephone chair.   I assume a fuel hose can take the heat and pressure of the cooling system.  It seems to be heavier than the coolant hose which had cracks on its exterior, so I did not use it.  I am suppose to pick up visiting friends about 4:30 P.M. this afternoon.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/05/07 Thursday 9:25 P.M.:   I chatted with a relative after the last message.   The relative out west got the electricity back at 10 P.M. last night.   I cleaned up, and I went out to my 3 P.M. appointment, and then I returned home.    I decided to reinstalled the Vista Longhorn Server build 6001-1720 released April 4, 2007.   After I reinstalled it, I was able to get it to log on to Optimum Boost DNS control panel to reset it for the server by logging on to it with a Safe Boot with network support.   I then configured the server, and I have it up and running.  I still have to configure some programs on it.   Still, it seems to be running just fine.   I chatted with a relative.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will eat some apple pie with a scoop of coffee ice cream.   I will leave the Epox Vista Longhorn server going for now.  After all the server is a primary part of my computer activity, even if not many people ever look at it.  I am not sure if the footers will work with it or not. Note:<888> 04/05/07 Thursday 10:20 A.M.:  My only web site now will be http://geocities.com/mikelscott/ .   Not many people were looking at http://mikelouisscott.com/ .  I turned off the server which has a 500 watt power supply, so that saves 1200 watts and the dolphin florescent light which uses about a 100 watts for 1300 watts savings.   I currently am running 70 watt energy saving bulbs which use 13 watts in the kitchen stove area, and 6 of them in the living room and one in the hallway for 8 X 13 watts for 104 watts plus the four 25 watt sconce bulbs above the dining table for 100 watts plus the 20 watt bulb in the elephant light for about 224 watts of regular light usage.   Of course I have to turn on the lights in the bathroom and the bedroom occasionally.  The bedroom lights are the energy saving 13 watt bulbs.   I also run a 500 watt power supply in the primary computer when it is turned on along with a 19 inch and 20 inch CRT monitor which are probably about 600 watts when running and there are the routers and network switch and the computer monitor light which is probably about another 100 watts, so when I am running the primary computer, I am probably using 1200 watts of electricity.   Of course when it is cooler I still use the electric blanket at night.   I also have to run the refrigerator which I have set to a warmer setting.   I also have a half size hot water tank, but I only take showers for less than three minutes, and I turn off the water when I am lathering with soap and hair conditioner, so it might be more like two minute showers.   The electric heat is totally turned off in the apartment.  Of course cooking uses the microwave oven and stove top burners.  Well, it is quieter in the apartment without the Honeywell air purifier going and the Epox server, but it will not smell as good.   I probably should quit cooking onions with the hamburgers.  I also turn on the kitchen stove fan, when I am smoking by it.  Of course when it it gets wamer outside, I will have to use the air conditioner.  Now to my email.     CIO

Note:<888> 04/05/07 Thursday 9:45 A.M.:  I made my bed.   I installed the Vista Longhorn server beta 2 build 6001-1720 on the Epox server in the secondary smaller partition on the first hard drive.   On installing the DVD, the product key codes that I had would not work, but online activation did work.   However, in trying to set it up, its Internet Explorer security settings are so restrictive, I can not log on to the Opimum Online Boost Panel to change the Dynamic DNS setting to use it.   Thus I rebooted to the IIS server, and I will work with it later.   To save electricity, I loosened the four 25 watt sconce light bulbs at the far end of the living room to turn them off, so that saves 100 watts of electricity.   I turned off the Rembrandt print Polish Ride light off with two 40 watt torpedo bulbs, so that saves 80 watts, I turned off the Epox server case red lights which probably saves about 50 watts.   I will not use the kitchen ceiling florescent light except for cooking which saves about 70 watts.  I also turned off the Honeywell Hepa Air purifier which probably saves about 400 watts, so I have reduced the apartment wattage usage by about 700 watts.  Certain items I can not change.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/05/07 Thursday 7:05 A.M.:  I finished breakfast, and I finished the April 4, 2007 Vista Longhorn X86 server download.   I washed the breakfast dishes.   At www.cl-p.com my March 2007 bill that was just posted was $192.42 that is without using any electric heat for the last week.  I called them up at 1-800-286-2000, and they said at my current rate of usage, my new budget amount will be $187 a month starting in May 2007, so after the my surplus amount is deducted for paying the March 2007 bill, I will have a $16 credit in May 2007, so in May 2007, I will have to pay www.cl-p.com $171, and then in the following months, I will have to pay $187 budget amount every month.   Such is life.  I will now burn the Vista Longhorn Server beta 2 build 6001-1720 DVD, and then I will start installing it and configuring it.   I will make my bed while burning the DVD and a copy.   The Epox server will be down while I am configuring it.   However, more than likely I will continue to run the XP Professional IIS server on it in the primary partition, since my primary partition has a better setup, and Vista does not work with the Creative Lives MP3+ sound card in the Epox server.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/05/07 Thursday 5:15 A.M.:  I had a telephone call from a relative about 11 P.M. last night.  The relative did not have electricity for a long while out West.   I woke up at 3 A.M. this morning.   I will shortly eat breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a teaspoon of Certo with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.  The www.greenwichtime.com is not working this morning.  I will now download the  Vista Longhorn Server and IE 7 beta build 6001-1720 from http://connect.microsoft.com for beta testers, and I will burn it to DVD, and I will install it on the Epox server and configure it, and I will possibly install it on the FIC server and configure it.   While doing that after I eat breakfast, I will wash the breakfast dishes, and I will make my bed.   I will not be going out for a walk this morning.   I have a 3 P.M. appointment this afternoon.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/04/07 Wednesday 3:00 P.M.:   I looked at the free copy of the New York Times The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia .  The printed version seems to be different than the internet version.   A quick summary of the printed version is that the New Jersey pension funds might be bankrupt in five years.   There is a drought out west, and it is suppose to get worse in the following years with Lake Mead 80 feet below normal level.   The Blackstone Group has about 78 billion dollars of investment money and they are going public.   I hope it is all not tied up in the Casa Marina Hotel in Key West, Florida.   J.P. Morgan Chase is going to build a new 50 story building adjacent to the location of the former World Trade Center where Deutche Bank once stood.   They supposedly sold the Chase Plaza downtown, and they have an expensive building in midtown.  In terms of the United States of America, Midtown Manhattan is the largest financial center, then Chicago, Illinois, then Washington D.C., and then the Wall Street area which is less expensive.   The New York Auto Show New York International Auto Show is going on, so I guess that is why New Country Audi New Country Audi, Greenwich, CT Audi dealer, new cars, used cars, TT, A4, S4, A6, A8, Auto repair, auto parts. is giving away free copies of the New York Times at the Greenwich Train Station.   I noticed a new black Bentley sedan Bentley Motors: Bentley Motors Website downtown.   Thus despite the cold damp weather today, they are still trying to sell new cars to the "Old Guard" who drive well maintained low mileage cars that seem to be practical for this area, since one can figure out how to drive them.   Back in the simpler days in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the fall of 1976 around all of the Yachts, I used to enjoy watching the non stop string of Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Cadillacs, and Lincoln Continentals cruising along the beach with all of the retired people.  Since older men some times have younger wives whom have children, and since older men sometimes have money, and since the driving age in Florida in those days was 14 years old, you would see a lot of young teenagers driving exotic sports cars that most of their cousins up north only dream about.  Of course since it gets very hot down south, they tend to have dark tinted windows to keep down the interior heat of the car, should it be left sitting outside too long in the sun, which would tend to cause damage to the interior of the expensive sports car.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/04/07 Wednesday 9:45 A.M.:  I woke up at 1:30 A.M..   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 1/3rd mixture of orange juice with a 1/3rd mixture of grape juice and with a 1/3rd mixture of Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice with a teaspoon of Certo with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I surfed the internet a little bit.   I put the orange and the blue throw pillows from the back of the green sofa at either end of the down sofa with the down sofa pillows in between.   I showered, and I cleaned up.   I went out about 5 A.M..   I was told the Mobil gasoline station at West Putnam Avenue and Weaver Street was sold, and it is now all boarded up.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   They gave me a free copy of the New York Times at the Greenwich Train Station sponsored by New Country Motors here in Greenwich.   It says the New Jersey pension funds are having problems.  On the way up Greenwich Avenue at Lewis Street, I went into the back lot area of the vacant lot where the building burned south of the Pickwick Plaza, and I retrieved the CVS shopping cart that was sitting down in the foundation hole, and I put it back in front of the CVS store with another cart that was further up Greenwich Avenue.  That CVS cart had been in that hole for at least four months, so I guess they had not noticed it.  I told them last week about it.  They have scaffolding around the Pickwick building at the top of Greenwich Avenue on the west side of the street, so one has to walk underneath the scaffolding.  After I finished my walk, I walked lower Greenwich Avenue, and I straightened up the lose curb stone at the post office plaza by the World War I veterans monument, but I was not able to get it all the way in the ground.   It was probably hit by snow plow equipment.  I went by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I bought a "Money Talks" scratch card for a dollar, but I lost.   I went by Zen stationary, and I bought a "Aces High" scratch card, but I lost.   I used the bathroom at Starbucks, and I chatted with a patron about the coffee business.  I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I chatted with a regular, and I walked out on the pier.   Not much happening around the waterfront on a cold day.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought  a dozen jumbo eggs for $2.39, a 16 ounce bar of Stop and Shop Swiss Cheese for $3.99, a 8 ounce container of 4-C grated parmesan and Romano cheese for $2.99, six boxes of Barilla fettuccini for $1 each, two 26 ounce Francesco Rinaldi mushroom and pepper tomato sauce for $1 each, two 26 ounce Francesco Rinaldi basil tomato sauce for $1 each, four 15.7 ounce cans of Heinz bakes beans for $1 each, three Ocean Spray 64 ounce containers of Cranraspberry juice for 3 for $5, a 15 ounce container of Progresso Italian bread crumbs for $1, buy one get one free of Oscar Meyer Lite beef franks 16 ounce packages for $3.99 both, and buy one get one free of Oscar Meyer 1/3 less sodium 16 ounce bacon for $4.99 both for $38.35 total.   I then returned home, and I brought down my folding cart, and I brought up my groceries.   I put away the groceries.   I am pretty much stocked up on food, if you look at http://mikelouisscott.com/inventory.htm and http://geocities.com/mikelscott/inventory.htm .   CIO

Note:<888> 04/03/07 Tuesday 5:50 P.M.:  I ate a piece of apple pie with a scoop of fudge tracks ice cream.  I watched part of a Burt Lancaster movie about the Indians stealing rye whisky from the Army.   I ate a bowl of Ramen chicken noodle soup.   I have to diplomatically remind visitors in the area, that I am frequently easy to see in this area, but that there are 40 million people living within a hundred mile radius of Manhattan, so there more than likely are other people around all of the time, particularly when the weather is nice.  We tend to make our money off the traffic in the area not celebrity.  New friends you don't want to meet FBI - Most Wanted - The FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives .   Since I know quite a few people, and I have read quite a bit, I know quite a bit more than I write in my web log, but since I try to respect people's privacy, and since nobody hardly at all looks at my web log, the matter of its relevance is hardly important.   Basically it is mostly for my own recollection based on my experience.   Of course downtown Greenwich, Connecticut like midtown Manhattan has a fairly wealthy shopping clientele, so more than likely we also attract those individuals that prey on the wealthy shopping clientele.  Also since it is warming up around here, we also might have those Irish travelers from Murphyville, South Carolina showing up again.   They frequently show up in this area, in their annual migration north.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Tuesday April 10, 2007, the "Booze Boat" returns to Manhattan QM2 - Itinerary - 2007 .  CIO

Note:<888> 04/03/07 Tuesday 3:10 P.M.:   I went out after the last message.  I picked up my mail, and I chatted with a neighbor.   I went downtown to the Chase Bank at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then went to the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority.   I then drove down to the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I viewed Long Island Sound.  Nobody seems to be fishing yet, but there was a lot of traffic on the highway north bound.  I was told by a friend that drives a hundred thousand miles a year in New York State investigating race horses that the Canadians are coming north from Florida.   I then returned home.   I can not afford to buy anything else out of the ordinary this month, since after I paid my bills, I am on limited spending allowance, so most of this month, I will be a prisoner at home, except for when I am on a night time schedule, and I sneak out at night or the early morning for a walk.   I found a Lincoln penny in the Board of Education parking lot this morning.   I noticed some people can still afford to drive Hummers HUMMER around here.   However, if you were a big shot with wide opened roads, you might prefer the Civilian version of International : Military and Government LLC , however on the narrow windy roads of New England, it might not be too practical.  This is the smaller version International : International MXT MV .  However, with the war on, they might not be making the civilian version anymore, but you might find a used one, if you could afford the fuel.   If you thought about it, it might be more practical with a diesel engine, since a diesel engine could run on fuel oil, if you adjusted it properly, but you would have to change the fuel filter more often and add additives, since fuel oil is dirtier.  However, if you lived in one of those places where one is allow to use fuel oil to run a vehicle, you would not have to pay for the local, state, and federal highway taxes, they place on diesel fuel  and gasoline.   Technically if one had a big enough piece of property such as down in the southwest, and one did not need to go on public roads, I guess one could get away without paying fuel taxes, since it would sort of be like a farm vehicle.  I mean if you lived some place like the King Ranch King Ranch  in Texas, why would you ever want to leave the Ranch.   Those guys are wearing the type of jacket that I have been looking for, but I can not find.   Beware of Rattle Snakes King Ranch Brand .  I don't eat too much beef, because I worry about cholesterol, but I am sure a few of the younger local lads would enjoy a bit of beef.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/03/07 Tuesday 4:10 A.M.:  Jean Jacket, Denim: Men's at L.L.Bean for $19.95 and free shipping with promo code "2344580" Newegg.com - HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 HDT722525DLAT80 (0A31611) 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - OEM  .  I put away the laundry.  I sprayed Fabreeze on the mattress side that I turned up.   The mattress pad survived the laundry just fine on the gentle cycle.  I put the mattress pad on the mattress, and then a fitted sheet that stays on all the time as protection, and then another fitted sheet that I change once a week, and then the top sheet, and then the electric blanket, and then the pink and green quilt and the four king side pillows with fresh pillow cases, and then the throw pillows.   I put away the rest of the laundry.  I made up a batch of Ramen chicken noodle soup, which I will eat shortly with a glass of iced tea.  Tracking is not available yet on the three orders from this weekend.   I will shut down the primary computer, and after I eat the Ramen chicken noodle soup, I will shower and clean up, and I will go out.   I will dress warmly in case I go for a walk after grocery shopping at the Riverside shopping plaza Food Emporium.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/03/07 Tuesday 2:45 A.M.:  I have 30 minutes to go on the dry cycle.   I put the mattress pad in a third dryer on gentle cycle.   It seems to have survived the wash cycle all right.  I did not wash the pillow covers underneath the pillow cases, since they seemed to be clean enough.  I checked the smokers bench outside at the north end of the building, and it has been moved back into the muddy area at the northeast corner of the building.   I guess the smokers like to sit in the mud.  However, the grass might not grow back there, if they leave it there.  I put the two pairs of full length long underwear hanging in front of the www.nasa.gov Space Shuttle launch picture on the inside of the bathroom door on the top shelf of the closet.   They are already cleaned.  I made up a grocery list for when the Stop and Shop opens at 7 A.M. this morning.   I could go over to the Food Emporium at the Riverside shopping plaza for the few items I need after I do my laundry and make the bed, but the Food Emporium at the Riverside shopping plaza might be more expensive, and it takes more gasoline to get there.   However, they do have cheap grape juice there.  I do not need much.  I will think about it.  It is damp and misty out which is not good for a person with arthritis to take a walk in the early morning hours.   However, I would probably survive it.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/03/07 Tuesday 1:50 A.M.:   I woke up at midnight. I am doing three loads of laundry with 25 minutes to go on the wash cycle.   I stripped the bed taking off the mattress pad and cover sheet along with the other linens.   I am washing the mattress pad on the gentle wash cycle, and I will gentle tumble dry it, since it looks delicate.  I also flipped over the top mattress rotating it from side to side.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/02/07 Monday 1:05 P.M.:   After my lunch, I started making the iced tea.   I went out, and I picked up the mail, and I chatted with a neighbor.   The 2 pin small video chip small fan heat sink cooler that is twice as thick at 40mm by 40mm by 20mm instead of 10mm that cost me $4.31 with free shipping from eBay.ca: Delta 40mm Video Card/Chipset Fan $4.31 FREE SHIPPING! (item 290097694364 end time 30-Mar-07 20:30:00 EDT) arrived in the mail, and I installed it with the one inch screws that I got from the Greenwich Hardware store that were the same thickness as the ones that held the thinner 10mm thick small fan in it before.   The black wire goes to the left as one looks at the Epox motherboard from front to back.   I put away the comforter in its plastic packaging on the top closet shelf.  I will now go through my email.  The rent bill did not come, so I will not be going out again today.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/02/07 Monday 10:25 A.M.:   I went out after the last message.   The smoker's bench on the north end of the building was broken, since on the uneven ground it was resting on, it was not flat, so the pressure on the back side bolts cause the wood for the back frame to break.   I went by Gateway Automobile Supply off Old Track Road behind the Griffin Ford used car dealership, and I bought five 2.5 inch and three 3 inch hose clamps for .80 each and two quarts of Castrol 10W-40 for $3 each plus .74 tax for $13.14 total.  I then went by the Arnold Bread Outlet, and I bought a six pack of New York Everything bagels for $1.85, a 12 pack of Thomas' English muffins for $2.05 and a Entenmann's 26 ounce apple pie for $2.25 for $6.15 total.  I then returned home.  From the front side of the bench on the back, I secured the top right of the back and bottom right of the bench back with two 3 inch hose clamps, and I used two 2.5 inch hose clamps connected together for the center right back to give it extra support.   One the left side from the front, I use a pair of two 2.5 inch hose clamps connected together on the upper left back and the lower left back to give it extra support.   The left side had not broken yet.   I left the bench on the sidewalk, so it is more stable, and so one does not get their feet dirty sitting in the mud on the once grassy area on the side of the sidewalk against the building wall.   I chatted with a Greenwich Housing Authority official at the Arnold Bread Store outlet, and I briefed him on what I had been doing.  I also chatted with some neighbors.   I will now reheat the spaghetti dinner that I had left over yesterday on three vegetable cycles in the General Electric microwave oven, and I will put it on a large dinner plate with a couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese on it, and I will eat it with a glass of iced tea.   I then will start making up a batch of Formula Two http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .   CIO

Note:<888> 04/02/07 Monday 7:50 A.M.:  Instead of sewing up the hem on the bottom end of the comforter, I had a package of 50 one inch Singer Bobby or Safety pins that I had gotten from CVS on Greenwich Avenue about a year ago, I used about 16 of them about six inches apart to close up the bottom hem on the comforter.   Thus one can remove the stuffing and just wash the comforter cover in the future which should fit into a regular washing machine which would be cheaper and easier to do.  I am letting it air dry a little bit on the bed before I fold it up, and put it away in in its plastic holder.   I recall buying it from the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop for about $35 new six years ago.   It smells very nice with the Tide detergent perfume.   However, it should be totally dry before one puts it away, so it does not get mildew.   I also put my new www.geico.com insurance card for the next six months in the glove compartment automobile papers holder.  GEICO still has not taken my automobile car insurance payment off of my bank account yet, but as I recall the new policy does not start until April 8, 2007.   I will now run out briefly to the Arnold Bread outlet to get some English muffins.   I have to wait until the mail arrives today to pay my apartment rent if the rent bill comes.  CIO

Note:<888> 04/02/07 Monday 7:15 A.M.:  I went out after the last message, and I went to the Cos Cob all night Laundromat across the street from the Cos Cob Starbucks.   You could hear the sound of Jazz coming from Starbucks in Cos Cob while they were cleaning up the place.   They also play jazz at the Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue.   The French people like Jazz.   I put the larger comforter in a large 60 pound capacity washer machine which costs $5.25, and I put a capful of Tide www.tide.com in the prewash holder on top and two caps of liquid Tide in the primary wash holder on top, and I started  the machine with $5.25 in quarters I got from the change machine.   I put it on heavy soil, and the cycle ran 25 minutes.   While the comforter was being washed, I drove over to the Riverside Shopping Plaza, and I got some cash, so I could get some more change for drying.   I also bought two 1.06 ounce containers of Gold Emblem Italian seasoning for .66 each for $1.32 total.    The pharmacy at the CVS store at the Riverside Shopping Plaza is opened all night.  I did 21 minutes of dry time on hot which only cost .75, and the comforter was almost dry.   The bottom lining on the comforter came apart, so I had to refit the stuffing inside of it, and I folded it up, and I put it in the car.   While waiting for the dry cycle, I chatted with a Whole Foods trucker mailing a letter at the post office next door.   I explained to the trucker that I can not afford to buy organic produce, and from what I have heard they still use DDT in Mexico where some of our produce comes from.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I used the ATM machine at the Chase Bank on Central Greenwich Avenue.   I used the bathroom at Starbucks, and I chatted with their morning staff.  I returned home, and I brought up the comforter.   I diluted the half remaining container of full strength antifreeze coolant, so it is now 50% to 50% mixture.  I topped up the Volvo antifreeze overflow coolant container, so it is full, and the coolant light does not come on in the car.   I spread the comforter out on the bed, and shortly I have to sew up by hand the six foot seam that came apart at the bottom.   I have enough thread.  I will leave it out to dry a little bit more today, since it is still a bit moist.  The comforter stuffing is a synthetic that dried faster than the outside fabric.   My www.newegg.com payments have cleared the bank, so I no longer owe them anything.   The cigarette and the Cablevision payments have also cleared the bank.   Now to sewing the comforter hem.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/02/07 Monday 3:15 A.M.:  I woke up at 1 A.M..  With the war going on, we try to keep going as much as possible, and we only rest when we need it. I rehung the British Union Jack vertically from the center living room curtain above the General Electric air conditioner.   I used a small bobby pin to fix the  lower right corner to the curtain, so it will not flap, when I turn on the Honeywell Tower fan.   I turned on the Honeywell Tower fan on low and swivel, so some air circulates around the apartment.   I originally bought the large four foot by seven foot British Union Jack flag a number of years from the Merry Go Round Mews Thrift Shop for $15.   When I went to the Taft School  in Watertown, Connecticut The Taft School , it had an anglophile connection, since President Taft started the English Speaking Union.   The English Speaking Union parties in Greenwich, Connecticut are about the only parties, that we get invited too anymore, since I think they let anyone go who pays the modest admission charge.   They are usually advertised in the Greenwich Time.  Malcolm Pray use to host the English Speaking Union parties up on Round Hill Road, since I think his second wife is English.  I know they have had them at the Greenwich Country Club http://www.geocities.com/mike2scott2006/Greenwich-Country-Club.jpg  before.   I once did fund raising for a party at the Greenwich Country Club for the United States Ski Team U.S Ski Team - , and although I did not get to go to the party, I did get to go to the Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, where the friend that I traveled with got to have breakfast with Prince Anne and three reigning kings of Europe, while I was stuck in the Auberge with Laryngitis.   Princess Anne is a Colonel in the British Army in charge of Communications for the British Royal Family Welcome to the official web site of the British Monarchy .  The last I heard she was visiting the Faroe Islands and Antartica.    Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip Buckingham Palace press releases > State Visit to the USA, 21 March 2007 are going to the 400th Anniversary of Virginia Jamestown 2007 - America's 400th Anniversary  and the Kentucky Derby and the Welcome to the White House .   I will now do some regular computer work.   My oldest sister now has a British husband who lives here in America and they live out west in the high tech area we all know, so we try to be a bit Anglophile here.   However, since I am on a night schedule so much of the time, I usually only see the British when they are going about their evening activities downtown, if any of them are still around.   I put the Pink and Green summer quilt on the bed in the bedroom.   I will now take the winter comforter that I took off the bed, and I will take it over to the Cos Cos Laundromat that has large machines, and I wash and dry it.  I will shut down the primary computer while I go out.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/01/07 Sunday 6:25 P.M.:  I tried to think about something else besides computers, but I have been so focused on computers for so long that is pretty much all that I think about anymore.   I ate 1.5 scoops of fudge tracks ice cream.  ABC News: Land of the Giants: Dutch Tower over Americans .  Well this Dutch Dude needs some rest, so I am going to shut down the primary computer, and I am going to bed.   Alas, I do not speak the Holland Dutch language.   I have been telling people for years in Greenwich, Connecticut that the tallest person that I have seen here is the Gouda Cheese salesman from Matrich? in the Netherlands when he was selling cheese here at our local Food Emporium.   He was dressed in Dutch costume, and he wore wooden shoes about two feet long, and he looked like Prince Charles, but I would say he was close to 7 feet tall, and he probably weighed closed to 400 pounds or more.   I guess you have to be that big to lift a wheel of Gouda cheese.   When I was in Amsterdam, I enjoyed networking with some of the smaller people that I bumped into.  Of course at 6 foot tall and 190 pounds, I am average size compared to a lot of the Corporate types around here whom tend to be larger.   Today downtown, most of the working men home for the weekend all seemed to be bigger than I am.   Of course during the weekdays when they are all gone away to work in the Big Apple, I am slightly larger than the reverse commuters that come out here.   Of course where I was born in Alton, Illinois, Sam Walthrop was from there, and he was 8 foot 9 inches tall, so I am not sure whether he still has any tall relatives around or not.   Back in Alabama in the old days, they use to show B movies about 50 foot tall women scaring towns, but we figured that was just make believe.  Of course Canadians are suppose to be tall too, but nobody in the media seems to be able to ever to afford to go up there to find out for themselves.  In the old days, when they showed movies about Africa, the Mau Maus were suppose to be tall too.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/01/07 Sunday 4:20 P.M.:  I broke three medium to large eggs in a large metal bowl, and I added a couple of tablespoons of milk and a few dashes of Italian seasoning.   I whisked them all together with a whisk.   I then put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a few 3/16th inch thick pads of margarine in my omelet pan, and I also cut five four inch by 3/16th inch by 1 inch slices of New York extra sharp cheddar cheese.   I opened up a 7 ounce box of Armour lite brown and serve sausages which contained ten frozen links, and I put them in 10 inch stick proof frying pan with a few tablespoons of water, and I put the large pan on the larger front electric burner, and I set it at medium with a lid on for 7 minutes.    After four minutes, I started the omelet pan on the smaller electric burner on medium electric burner heat, and once the fat in the omelet pan was hot, I whisked the egg mixture again, and I put it in the omelet pan.  Once the omelet was hard enough to flip on the bottom side, I flipped it over, and I spread the cheese on one side, and I folded it over, and I transferred it to a large dinner plate, and sprinkled it with a couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese.   For the last four minutes after seven minutes, I removed the lid off the sausages, and I let the water evaporate sautéing them a bit.  Once the water evaporated, I added a small amount of olive oil, and I sautéed them briefly to glaze them a bit.  Also for the last few minutes, I toasted an English muffin, which I put a little bit of olive oil on.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I put the English muffin and sausages on the large dinner plate with the cheese omelet.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/01/07 Sunday 3:05 P.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   I picked up four new Metro North train schedules at the train schedule, and I put them on the right front side of the HP IID laser printer on the dining table.   I mailed a letter at the central Greenwich Post Office.  I stopped by the central Greenwich Avenue Chase Bank, and I used their ATM machine.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle reduced fat sour cream and onion potato chips for .77.   I got a $3 CVS bonus bucks coupon, so I bought four more for 8 cents more.   I completed my Palm Sunday walk of Greenwich Avenue, and I then drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat road.   I chatted with some other residents.  I checked out the view from the pier.   It is still a bit cold and damp out there, this time of year.   I went by the Greenwich Automotive Service Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $6 of premium self service unleaded gasoline at $3.299 a gallon for 26 miles driving since this past Tuesday averaging driving 15.2 miles per gallon averaging driving 14 miles per hour.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two 1.75 quart containers of Edy's sugar free coffee ice cream for $2.50 each, a 15 ounce container of Progresso Italian bread crumbs for $1, a 2 pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, a 3 pound bag of onions for $2.49, broccoli crowns at $2.29 a pound $2.34, a clearance box of 10 Quaker granola bars for .99 for $14.81 total.   I then returned home.  I put away my groceries, and I chatted with a relative and a friend.   CIO

Note:<888> 04/01/07 Sunday 3:20 A.M.:  Happy April Fools Day.   I woke up at 7 P.M.. I chatted with a relative.   I went back to bed until  2 A.M..   I watched a bit of the Marlan Brando movie "On the Waterfront" .   Of course life out here in the suburbs is not that rough.  I filled a 6 quart Revere pot about 60% full with water, and I put a dash of salt in it and a teaspoon of olive oil.   I brought it to a boil, and the I put a 16 ounce box of Ronzoni vermicelli in it, and I boiled it for eight minutes.   At the same time as doing that, I put a few tablespoons of olive oil in a 10 inch stick proof frying pan with a couple pads of margarine.   I heated it over medium high electric burner heat, and once the fat was hot, I added two minced cloves of garlic, one medium large peeled and diced onion and an one eight ounce hamburger pattie broken into small half inch pieces.   I sautéed it all until the hamburger was lightly browned and the onions were slightly opaque.   I seasoned it with dashes of ground black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder.   I then added a 26 ounce jar of  Ragu primavera tomato sauce, and I mixed it all together.   Once the tomato and meat sauce mixture was heated and the vermicelli was cooked, I drained the vermicelli in a colander, and I put half on a large dinner plate, and I put half in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I put half of the tomato meat sauce on the vermicelli on the plate with a couple of tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese spread over it.   I put the other half of the tomato meat sauce in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I then washed the dishes as usual.    I also chatted with somebody else whom is awake at night.   CI
