Note: <888> 04/29/09 Wednesday 5:40 P.M..  I picked up the mail.  I chatted with neighbors.  I threw out the garbage.  Today, when I was downtown for my walk, I stopped by the new COLLECTION - Bang & Olufsen on lower Greenwich Avenue STORE LOCATOR - Bang & Olufsen just south of the wine bar underneath the Greenwich Financial Center, and I told them about other Danish people in the area.  I was told yesterday, by the construction engineers working on remodeling the People's Bank on lower Greenwich Avenue, they are finding remnants of the old Gulf Oil station that use to be there.  I think there is also a Scandinavian furniture shop across from CVS on Greenwich Avenue.  Since it is cold here in the winter and cold in Scandinavia, it seems when the Scandinavians leave their homes, they tend to go where it is warmer, and they do not pay much attention to us anymore.

The Queen Mary II was back in Manhattan this past Sunday, and they will return again on May 8, 2009 and May 31, 2009 and a number of times this summer QM2 - Itinerary - 2009 .  They should have tour buses that say QM2 and drive them around out here, so we can recognize them.  We get so many European visitors living and visiting here anymore, it is hard to tell where they are all from.  I guess after being locked away in Europe for so many years, they all like traveling once they got the freedom of the European Union.  I am told it is not like the old days of Europe on $5 a day anymore, but alas I still remember when the Italians ate pizzas as thin as crackers with a ketchup type sauce on them, and the French ate horse meat, and the Spanish would charge $3 for a 8 course meal with 10 waiters and the Greeks and the Turks ate ground lamb and mashed potatoes way back in 1972.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/29/09 Wednesday 3:00 P.M..  I went out after the last note.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.  I chatted with a foreign visitor about high tech.  I stopped by the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop.  I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought four 10 ounce Palmolive antibacterial dish washing detergents for .88 each and .21 tax for $3.73 total.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the arts center after my walk.  I then went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf station, and I bought $11 of self service premium for $2.559 a gallon for 4.297 gallons for 55 miles driving since a week ago last Saturday at odometer reading of 62,512 miles for 12.8 miles per gallon driving.  I then cleaned the outside windows, and I checked the tire pressure all around for 32 PSI.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a package of White Gem boneless breasts of chicken for $1.79 a pound for $6.19, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99, fresh green Chiquita bananas for $.68 a pound for $2.05, broccoli crowns for $1.99 a pound for $2.01, a five pound bag of red potatoes for $3.99 for $17.23 total.  I then returned home.  I put away my purchases.  It was not very busy downtown today, so I guess at the end of the month in a recession not many people in Greenwich, Connecticut have any money left.  I will now make my usual breaded boneless chicken breast with my usual vegetable mixture with olive oil, which I will eat with a glass of watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/29/09 Wednesday 10:05 A.M..  I saw the big pink breast cancer bus parked on Railroad Avenue at the bottom of Greenwich Avenue yesterday.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go out and walk downtown and try to lose some weight.  My neighbor's relative from Naples, Florida thinks it is cold here this morning.  Apparently now is a good time to buy Florida real estate in these economically depressed times.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/28/09 Tuesday 4:55 P.M..  The current temperature in my living room is 72.7 degrees Fahrenheit with the air conditioner going.  It is 88 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now.  However, my apartment on the second floor has 4 four foot by eight foot windows that face the afternoon western sun above a flat black roof of the first floor, so the actual temperature in the sun outside my apartment windows is 105.4 degrees Fahrenheit, which is why I need the heavy duty air conditioner installed this early in the spring time.  Since I have lived here for 20 years, I tend to know what is best for my apartment as opposed to some government bureaucrat that has never even been here.  The second teeth whitening product arrived in the mail.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/28/09 Tuesday 4:30 P.M..  I woke up at 7:45 A.M..  I went outside, and I chatted with the building custodian.  He told me to telephone in a work order to get my air conditioner out of storage which I did.  I chatted with neighbors.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  About 9 A.M., the building custodian got my General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner with remote control out of storage.  He offered me, a four year old 11,500 BTU Panasonic model, but I decided the keep my more powerful unit.  I vacuumed out the rust and other debris from inside the unit, and I straightened some of the metal fins.  I installed the air conditioner in the center living room window where it has been in past years, and it works just fine.  I sealed it up with the Plexiglas, duct tape, and towels, so it does not leak air.  I put the bric-a-brac back into place.  It took about 3 hours to install.  I chatted with two relatives.  I set the air conditioner at 64 degrees low fan with the two tower fans also blowing the air around the apartment.  I also had used the bobby pins to hold up the curtain above it.  I ate lunch of two hot dogs with buns and ketchup and mustard and 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I chatted with Bill Clark Greenwich Gossip, and he has new book about Greenwich, Connecticut for sale in our local book stores.  We chatted, and we figured we use to be neighbors.  Bill's father was the minister at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts on Vincent Road next to Dana Hall in the same period when my family lived on Vincent Road.  Somebody that looked like former President Bush asked us how to get to town hall for a beach permit.  I finished my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I then returned home.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/28/09 Tuesday 2:15 A.M..  Partly cloudy and a high of 85 degrees Fahrenheit today, and then it cools down to regular temperatures in the 60s for another week.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go back to bed.

I noticed today that Greenwich Capital Markets RBS United States at 600 Steamboat Road does not have any tulips are other flowers in front of its building, so I guess the British government does not like flowers anymore.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/28/09 Tuesday 1:35 A.M..  I currently do not have the General Electric Profile 15,500 BTU air conditioner installed in my apartment yet.  I took it out for the first time this past winter, so I could have a warmer apartment.  With the warmer days, it is now 80 degrees Fahrenheit in my apartment, which is a bit warm for me, and it is also a bit warm for the computers.  Some time in the near future, they are suppose to install double pane windows in the building, but they have not yet told us when.  I could check with the building custodian that put the air conditioner in storage to see if it is easy enough to get out now.  It would take about three to four hours for me to install it properly, which would be a lot more comfortable if they do not get around to the double pane windows anytime soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/28/09 Tuesday 1:30 A.M..  When I got my first car in Greenwich, Connecticut in the summer of 1966, it was a black Mustang convertible with three speed shift and red vinyl interior.  I used to drive around town with the top down with my friends singing and listening to Amazon.com: Summer In The City: MP3 Downloads: The Lovin' Spoonful on the car radio.  I am currently listening to bit of vintage Elvis on my headset.  CIO

After my walk, I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and I took some pictures.  On the way back up Steamboat Road, I saw a green GMC come out of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club.  Just before the Royal Bank of Scotland, after the green GMC passed by two oncoming vehicles, a black GMC coming down Steamboat Road collided with a blue sports car that was behind it trying to pass it the left of the black GMC off the road, so at my distance, I could not tell who was at fault or if they were traveling too fast.  I returned home, and I chatted with neighbors.  It was quite busy downtown.

Note: <888> 04/25/09 Saturday 5:25 A.M..  There is Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers and Domain Name by Hostway with a 50 year old Donald Eldert Hostway Corporation Appoints Chief Financial Officer , so maybe he is a relative of Jim Eldert whose father's name is Donald Eldert too.  About 10 years ago, there was an Eldert farm for sale in Decatur, Illinois, so possibly they help supply the bread flour for the George Weston Bakeries Arnold Bread factory here in Greenwich, Connecticut.   The Jimmy Eldert that I know is from an old American family from Syracuse, New York, but they have lots of relatives having been here for close to 400 years.  There is even an Eldert street in Brooklyn, New York.  More than likely he would know how to contact me, if there were some reason for him to contact me, but living out in California around the high tech industry, he might be too busy.  I do know the last roommate I knew he had in the Malibu Colony worked for Dream Magic, a computer animation company, and when I toured Disney World with Jim back in 1977, he seemed to be right at home at the place, particularly the "Alpha and Omega" amusement ride.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/25/09 Saturday 3:40 A.M..   I drank a cup of salada tea with splenda and lemon juice after dinner.  I saw someone that looked like Jimmy Eldert walking downtown this past evening.  He still has longer shoulder length hair, but he looks to be heavier and in better shape than I am.  He was carrying a back pack.  Possibly he returned from California, since with www.gm.com going bankrupt, he is out of money in his trust fund.  Still, he looks like he would have the energy to build a car, if he put his mind to it.  I heard on the news today, Mic Jagger's portfolio is down 25% and Paul McCartney's portfolio is down 12%, and they both are going to have to start touring again to make enough money to make ends meet back in England.

I also heard on www.foxnews.com that if Obama is in office for 8 years, he plans to spend $35 trillion in which case more than likely the United States of America would be completely bankrupt, and the U.S. dollar would not be worth anything anymore.  Obviously they are not practicing sound economic policy in Washington D.C. or anywhere in the world in the liberal community.  With 6.6 billion people on the planet, the economic system has to be managed with a sense of reality, and not utopian ideals that we can not afford.

I live more simply than most people in America, so maybe more people will have to get use to living simply the way I do.  Of course by the average Chinese way of thinking I probably have a higher standard of living.

The celebrities we hear and read about seem to have more money, but they are usually trying sell products that the average people can not afford such as movie tickets and high priced items.

From my viewpoint as a professional economist, the economy could get worse, but with the weakening value of the dollar, one might seem to get more money, but it is actually worth less.   Of course like the times of prosperity, they hoped for a trickle down effect for the poor people, maybe in times of recession there will be a trickle down effect for the richer people to be more like the poorer people.  Of course, there always seems to be an establishment that has money, when most people do not.

I can remember when an apple cost a nickel, and today it costs a dollar, so from my viewpoint, people living on fixed incomes without major adjustments for real inflation and with increased costs of goods services are particularly hard hit in these times of recession.  I seem to get by, because I just maintain my current environment, and I try to avoid any major expenses despite the fact, I can not really afford them and have no means of changing my standard of living.  Even the poor people downtown that I deal with seem to have a higher standard of living than I do, but I do spend a good deal of my lesser income on communications and computers, which most people whom sit in Starbucks drinking expensive coffee do not do, since it is costly to maintain a home office not to mention the time that it takes to run.

However, I never earned any money off the computer activity, it was just my means of staying active and keeping up with the current technology that many of the working population has adopted over the years.  In the news media a lot of the stories come from the news wire services, and thus many news organization do not actually collect much news or even publish local news.  Much of the news is paid for, so people can advertise other areas and products and services that others might be unaware of.

I do see people downtown at night, but not as many people seem to be walking around anymore.  The restaurants are less busy, but they still have activity as do the pubs.  Starbucks seems less busy at night.  There is not very much traffic downtown at night.  However, this is the New York City metropolitan area, so there are always people moving around at all hours of the day, despite the recession, because essential services have to be maintained.   CIO

Note: <888> 04/24/09 Friday 11:55 P.M..  I was charged $19.99 to get the Easy White labs teeth whitener cancelled, but they will still send me the free sample, which is really not free.  I woke up at 2:30 P.M. this afternoon.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I went back to bed until 5:30 P.M..  I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I picked up my mail.  I watered the plants, and I cleaned the Ionic air purifier.  I finally figured out something about the big stones on our old Lyon Farm property where the 71 Vinci Drive Greenwich Housing Authority property is.  There is a big 5 foot high stone on the southwest section of the property and in the woods on the northeast section of the property there is a big 4 foot high stone.  I once read that the border between New York and Connecticut or New Amsterdam and the New Haven Colony was once further east, so possibly they are boundary stones marking the border between the two jurisdictions.  In which case most of 71 Vinci Drive is on the New Amsterdam side of the border, and it looks like the border might cut right through the wing of the building that I am in, so I might be on the New Haven Colony side of the border as it was in the old days.   They probably used Oxen to move those big boulders, when they cleared the property for Lyon Farm.  The original Lyon Farm homestead building is still on the northwest corner of the property down by the Post Road across from the gas station that once was an Exxon station, but I am not sure what it is now.  I chatted with a relative.  The four unit Uniden phone set arrived at my relative's this past Wednesday.  They will deliver it to Maine some time in the near future.  Now that the Bushs are no longer in government; Kennebunkport, Maine will probably go back to being the simple lobster fishing town that it once was.  I ate two hotdogs on buns with mustard and ketchup and dill pickle slice and 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a glass of watered down passion punch.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations. After my walk, I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I found a Delamar Room key card on the statue stump in front of the senior and the arts center.  I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road, and there are a couple of fishermen that were able to squeeze by the New Jersey barricade on the end of Steamboat Road, so they can fish.  I dropped off the pass key card at the The Delamar on Greenwich Harbor , and they told me they are busy.  I then returned home to the quiet solitude of Byram, Connecticut where not much happens as far as the Maytag repairman is concerned.  CIO

The last time, I was down in south Florida was during the Halloween period of 1983, when I visited Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  It was during the Grenada invasion, and there was quite a tall group of people in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  I saw several thousand older retired white people on the beach area of Fort Lauderdale whom were 6 foot 6 inches to 7 feet tall, and many of the thousands of white teenage youths were over 6 feet 6 inches tall.  When I went into the Bahia Mar Yacht Club, there was an eight foot tall oil portrait of General Omar Bradley a five star general in uniform, so needless to say I do not think they needed me around South Florida anymore.  I have visited the Vero Beach area and the Newport Richey area a number times since then, but my only contact in Florida anymore is in Vero Beach, Florida, and they seem to have matters well under control there.

Note: <888> 04/24/09 Friday 3:20 A.M..  I just woke up.  When one lives in the suburbs of New York City like I do way out here in Greenwich, Connecticut, there is not much to do, once one gets tired of watching television.  However, if one owns a car like people tend to do in the suburbs, and one manages to accumulate some money, one can always manager to take a road trip.  Having lived in Greenwich, Connecticut, since 1961, I know a few road trips.  My favorite short road trip is to drive up to New Canaan, Connecticut, but there is not too much to do in New Canaan.  I use to go to the Visiting  Nurse Thrift shop there next to the New Canaan fire station.  I got my Connecticut driver's license in New Canaan back in 1966, when I first learned how to drive.  One can always make a short trip from there to Ridgefield, Connecticut, which has a quiet library, where one can take a pit stop.  I tend not to go to Manhattan, Long Island, Boston, or Cape Cod too much because there is usually too much traffic.  Recently, since my family established a Kennebunkport, Maine residence, I drive a couple of times a summer to Kennebunkport, Maine and back.  In the days, when we were more adventuresome, one could always drive up to Canada to Toronto or Montreal.  If one goes up the New York Thruway, it is pretty easy to find Toronto.  I use to drive up Interstate 91 to White River Junction, Vermont and visit Darmouth Colllege in Hanover, New Hampshire, and then up to Montreal through Burlington, Vermont.  Another good trip if one has enough time and money was to drive down to Key West, Florida, and once one gets to the coast of Florida, there is a lot of scenery along A1A along the east coast of Florida.  A major trip is to drive across country to California.  In the warmer weather, one can drive across Interstate 70, and through the Rocky mountains, but a longer trip is drive across Interstate 10 in the Southwest, but once one gets to California, one tends to need money, and one gets tired of sleeping in one's car.  Possibly with the drug war on the Mexican border south of Interstate 10, California is isolated from the rest of the nation.  I did see a car from California on Greenwich Avenue yesterday.  Since I have lived in Nantucket and the Chicago area, I know how to drive to those locations, but there is a lot of traffic on Cape Cod in the summer, and Chicago is cold most of the year.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/23/09 Thursday 7:50 P.M..  I woke up at 11 A.M., when I had a telemarketing phone call trying to sell me an extended warranty on my Audi.  They have been calling me up all of the time with their recording.  I got one this evening on my cell phone.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I chatted with a relative.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.  I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store.  They have the same Kidde fire extinguishers for $50 that are $40 at Home Depot.  They have Giant Sun Flower seeds for $1 a package and they also have Morning Glory seeds for a $1 a package.  If one plants Giant Sun Flowers, it will attract a lot of birds.  The Morning Glories grow quite fast and will cover the whole side of a house if you tie them up to get them started.  They have the usual cross section of other seeds too.  The last time I planted a garden in the mid 1960s, seeds were 5 cents a package, so there has been 2000% inflation on seeds over the last 45 years or so.  I toured CVS, but I could not find any bargains to buy.  I saw the Mobil One Racing Team driving through town.  I sat out for a while.  I chatted with a few regulars.  I think the tulips across the street from the Senior and the Arts center at the veterans monument are on strike, because they have not come out yet.  I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I then drove by the Greenwich Library, there is still space for rent in the remodeled old Cheeseborough Ponds building across the street.  I chatted with some staff.  I told the building custodian about the water surging up from the ground underneath the northeast support of the Cole Auditorium on the inside of the support.  It is a big support, so hopefully the building will not collapse, but one never knows how much water damage is done under the pavement and the ground.  I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor, and I picked up the mail.  I chatted with a relative.  I will now eat the same London Broil dinner as four of the last five nights.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/23/09 Thursday 2:25 A.M..  I woke up yesterday at 2 A.M. after the last note.

I ordered from Cathy’s Teeth Whitening Success the two different free tooth whitening items from here Teeth Whitening Pro for $4.99 shipping and Easy White Labs :: Professional Teeth Whitening Kit for $6.99 shipping.  I also ordered free trial Colo flush free trial for $4.99 shipping.  I chatted with a relative yesterday, and the relative who is a registered nurse advised me against taking the Colo Flush since it can lower the body's potassium.  At this page Coloflush Reviewed: Does Coloflush Work? , it says towards the bottom of the page underneath the "The Bad" by ordering the Free Trial, one is automatically enrolled in the Auto Shipping Plan, which I do not want.  I called them up at 1-866-225-1334, and I cancelled the order, so I will not be billed anymore.

I watched the end of a French Foreign Legion movie with John Claude Van Dam who use to also walk a white German Shepard.  He lives in Monte Carlo.  I went back to bed at 4:30 A.M..  I woke up at 2 P.M..  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I went back to bed until 4 P.M..  I chatted with a relative.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.  I chatted with a relative.  I threw out the garbage, and I moved my car to its usual place.  I picked up the mail.  I ate two hot dogs with buns and mustard and ketchup and 1/3rd of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a dill pickle slice and watered down passion punch.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 10.8 ounce can of CVS smoked almonds for $3.50.  I ate some outside during my walk.  I finished my walk, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with staff and patrons.  One of the local users is able to layer modern Google Maps with Old Maps to compare historical images with today.  I had a cigarette outside by the auditorium, and I noticed with all of the rain that the water was surging up from underneath one of the support colums of the corner of the library auditorium probably undermining its strength over time.

I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought top round London Broil for $1.79 a pound for $7.07 and Chiquita bananas for .68 a pound for $2.32 for $9.39 total.  I then returned home.  I ate a 1/6th piece of pumpkin pie and about 7 ounce of smoked almonds and some watered down passion punch.  I went to bed from 10 P.M. to 2 A.M..

I chatted with a relative.  I threw out the shipping box, and I moved my car to another place closer to its usual place.  I ate a sliced ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich on a bulkie roll with mayonnaise and 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips and a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch and a cup of Salada green tea with splenda sweetener and a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/20/09 Monday 3:05 A.M..  Snow is still available Adopt a Dog - North Shore Animal League America White German Shepherd Mix .  I was walking Julie Bolton's Daughter Lisa's White German Shepard that came from the North Shore Animal League for about two years from 1980 to 1982 in Manhattan, and Silver was quite a smart dog like a Guide Dog, Silver use to lead me around and keep me out of trouble.  As I recall Silver was a male full breed white German Shepard dog, and Silver was very alert around all of the pedestrian traffic in Manhattan.  The night Ronald Reagan first showed up in Manhattan after being elected President, I walked Silver through Central Park at night over to the Waldorf Astoria, and all of the secret service agents were so excited to see Silver, they took pictures of Silver with a Polaroid camera.  Julie Bolton's father lived in Santa Barbara, California after he divorced Vivian West in the 1930s, so Silver had a California connection.  On the way back through Central Park that evening, there was a big commotion by the Dakota where Lisa worked in the liquor store, and I later learned that John Lennon had been shot.  Lisa dated a Chinese taxi cab driver whose family had a silk business in Peking, China, and she was the first American to work as a flight attendant for China airlines, so she has probably seen a few places around the world.  John her secretive older brother does not communicate enough, since he is very secretive, but more than likely he could be elsewhere.  The last time, he stopped by about five years ago, he was wearing a U.S. Embassy in Thailand red T shirt from where his father worked before retiring from the U.S. State Department www.state.gov .  Vivian West's mother, John's great grandmother was part of the Kaiser of Germany's consular staff in Manhattan before World War I, and Vivian knew Billy Baldwin a friend of the Duke of Windsor.  CIO

The state of my current computer setup is still at: http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .  I do not expect it to change any time in the future, since on limited income with a recession, I am just maintaining what I have in stock.  I have to make www.geico.com automobile insurance payments for the next three months through July 2009, and cigarettes also went up $7 a carton with the new Federal Tax, so possibly I need to think about quitting smoking or cutting way back.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/20/09 Monday 1:00 A.M..  I finished the backups on the bedroom Gigabyte computer, and I am now defragmenting the C: drive.  I noticed at the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf station next to the Greenwich Library, when one fills up the tank, one has to first select Debit or Credit before sliding one's card, so the gasoline pump knows which type of transaction one wants to perform.

From my viewpoint, not much is going on in Greenwich, and there is hardly anyone at Starbucks at night anymore, and there does not seem to be much dining activity or pup or movie activity, so it is a slower town downtown at night.  However, there always seems to be just as much traffic on Interstate 95 all of the time, so people are still moving around in this area, but whether they are doing anything in terms of work or not, it is hard to tell.  I do not go down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road regularly anymore, since when gasoline was $5.50 a gallon, I got use to not going down there.  It is always an enjoyable exercise walk on Greenwich Avenue, when one does not have to pay to park.  The new building across the street from the Sun Down saloon is all framed in, and the exterior seems to be mostly done, and they are now doing the interior work.  The building at the bottom west side of Greenwich Avenue where the People Bank is, and the Ronald Reagan campaign headquarters use to be and the old Gulf Station once was is suppose to undergo renovation and expansion, so they now have the People's Bank in a Williams trailer until the work is done.  The new building just south of Pickwick Plaza has its windows in, and it has its brick work done.  There does not seem to be much work going on where the GAP used to be, where Ralph Lauren is building a new store complex.  The new police and public safety building looks to be mostly completed, but it is not due for occupancy until July 2009.  The new condominium complex across from the Delamar Hotel looks to be mostly completed, but it does not yet look like it has been occupied yet.  They are suppose to spend a million dollars fixing up the Greenwich train stations and their platforms and walkways.  The two office buildings across from the Greenwich Library, both look like they have been renovated and occupied.  I know the old U.S. Tobacco building is occupied by three Hedge funds.  The Hamilton Avenue School in Byram is completed and occupied.  The new Byram Library is completed and occupied.  The Food Emporiums have been remodeled into A&P Fresh stores which are more upscale.  There is a new Super Stop and Shop on the Stamford side of the Old Greenwich border on U.S. 1, and there are shopping plazas across the street from it.

There use to be fabric, zipper, thread, and sewing accessory shop across from Cytec, but I am not sure if it is there anymore, but it use to have everything one would need for making clothing at home.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/19/09 Sunday 11:50 P.M..  Earlier, I ate a 1/6th piece of pumpkin pie before going out.  I just now ate the same dinner as last night, but for the vegetables I ate a package of Green Giant teriyaki vegetables.  Since the bedroom Gigabyte computer changed a bit when I installed the updates on this past Friday, I am now doing and internal and a external backup of it.

The way that I figure it, since I have lived on the lower end of the economic scale in Greenwich, Connecticut for the last 26 years, I am better off doing things my way, as opposed to trying to keep up with the Jones are whomever still has money.  Since I have walked Greenwich Avenue for 26 years, since I moved off Nantucket where I also walked a lot, as I did in Manhattan and Key West, Florida, I am a somewhat experienced walker, particularly at night.  I use a car, since I live in a remote part of town, where there is no public transportation at night.  I pretty much have seen everyone in the world on Greenwich Avenue these last 26 years, but nobody ever seems to notice me, since I am good at blending into the crowds.  At night, it is like being the Maytag repairman.

I suppose the wealthier walkers in town still play golf, but I was told that in order to speed up play, one is required to use a motorized golf cart now.  When I lived in Decatur, Alabama before moving here in June 1961, I also walked a lot there as a youth, and I enjoyed bird watching.  At night I use my hearing a lot, since one can not always see as well at night.

Decatur, Alabama was about 20 miles south of Huntsville, Alabama, and Senator John Sparkman at the time was from Alabama, and he was the Senior Senator on the Senate Defense Committee, so he put www.nasa.gov in Huntsville, Alabama.  From what I know Greenwich, Connecticut is mostly a Wall Street town, so since I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics from www.lfc.edu , the business aspect of Greenwich, Connecticut makes sense to me knowing the larger overall picture in the New York Metropolitan area.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/18/09 Saturday 8:30 P.M..  I woke up at noon.  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I took down the flags off the hallway bookcases, and I put them in the lower bedroom Rubbermaid hamper.  That way the hallway looks more spacious.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  The tulips as they got older were causing me allergy problems, so I gave them to a neighbor to plant.  I chatted with neighbors.  I rehooked up the little miniature jump start system the Audi, so it might be available for jump starts.  I went by the Greenwich Library, and I returned the Que book on Windows Vista SP1.  I read P.C. Magazine.  I chatted with the regular library security guard whom is back from Vero Beach, Florida after a year and a half.  He told me it rough down there, and he lost about 50 pounds.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I chatted with a young woman from Russia, who told a lot of Russians live in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, New York, which I knew.  I chatted about my web site, and I gave them a calling card.  I browsed CVS, but there were no bargain.  I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I chatted with a local who told me he does not recognize anyone anymore.  I went by the Greenwich Automotive Services Gulf station, and they had a $8.8 million dollar lottery winner.  I put $11 of self service premium at $2.559 a gallon for 4.297 gallons at odometer reading of 62, 456 miles for 59.5 miles driving since last Saturday at 13.8468 miles per gallon this past week.  I then cleaned the outside of my windows, and I checked the tires for 32 PSI.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a large yesterday's pumpkin pie for $4, a six pack of yesterday's bulkie rolls for $1.25, a dozen Jumbo eggs for $2.49 expire May 24, 2009, top round London Broil for $1.79 a pound for $5.62, and fresh Chiquita bananas for .68 a pound for $1.26 for $14.62 total.  I then put my groceries in the car, and I went back into the store, and I bought four buy one get one free of Hebrew National reduced fat hotdogs for $5.29 for two for $10.58 total.  I then returned home.  I brought up my groceries, and there was no mail.  I put away my groceries.  I chatted with a relative.  Another relative that was driving through the area called at 5:30 P.M., when they were eating nearby at McDonalds, and they are now out of the area.

I will now eat about a 10 ounce piece of sautéed top round London Broil with flavored rice and steamed and Green Giant frozen broccoli with olive oil and watered down passion punch.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/18/09 Saturday 5:15 A.M..  Well I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go back to bed.  It is suppose to be up to 69 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy today.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/18/09 Saturday 4:55 A.M..  One of my friends in Manhattan has so few English speaking friends, that she is going to try to teach English as a second language, so she has more people to talk to.  When I lived in Key West, Florida it was like living in a foreign country, since nobody spoke English, and I spent most of my time speaking French to French Canadians and Haitians.  Most people down there speak Spanish.  I knew a couple of other people that spoke English, but one of them knew Spanish, so I spent most of my time chatting with the other person that spoke English.  When I was in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, most people spoke Spanish, and I tried to communicate to them in French which is similar, but when I met Rhone Dietrin who knew English, Norwegian, and Spanish, I had someone to talk to.  We have a lot of English communications around here, but most of it comes out of Manhattan.  I am not sure how many people speak English here, since when I walk downtown, I do not hear that many people speaking English.  It is sort of strange since the official language of the United States is English, but in a wealthy community near New York not many people seem to know English.  I suppose the newer people here are from Europe, where they speak quite a few different languages.  Well I still have a few friends and relatives in this area that speak English, so it is not like I do not have anyone to talk to.

The Scott family have a presence in Canada too, so if one gets tired of talking about American trivia, one can always visit Toronto, Ontario, Canada to practice English, but it is colder up there.  There are quite a few Canadians in Chicago, Illinois where it is colder, and most of my teachers at www.lfc.edu were Canadian, so possibly I am better networked with the Canadians than I realize.  Well at least it is warmer down here, and I do not have to deal with all of the wild animals up in Canada.  Also they have a lot of ice storms in Toronto, but they have about 40 miles of underground pedestrians shopping areas, so one does not always have to go outside in the cold.

Of course I knew quite a few Canadians in Key West, Florida.  I see quite a few Canadians in Kennebunkport, Maine.  The last time I visited Washington D.C. around 1991, they had built a new Canadian Embassy near the Capital with lots of security.  Apparently they gets lots of refugees there applying for political asylum.

I never figured out where the Canadian consulate was in Manhattan, but they probably have one there.  Fred http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm lived near the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Iranian, German and British consulates, so I guess I saw a lot of people from that area in the old days.  However, I was more popular in Manhattan when the Republicans held the White House and the Thatcher Tory government were in office in England.  However, the way the liberals are messing up the world, the conservatives might be back in office sooner than later.  People tend to vote their pocket books, not their television viewing habits.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/18/09 Saturday 4:30 A.M..  I made two copies of the QUE Vista CD, and I put them on the shelf below the stereo system.  I enabled Vista Aero, so I have clear type fonts.  I also enabled the screen saver again.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/17/09 Friday 5:25 P.M..  I woke up at 10:30 A.M. this morning, when I had two no person telephone calls. I cleaned the Sony Juke Box with the AT&T CD lens cleaner.  One runs track four to clean it, which I did a few times.  I installed the Windiows updates on all nine computers.  While doing that, I had listened to some music.  I noticed that MP3s do not play as clearly as regular CDs on the Sony Juke box, but it is good enough for my purposes.  I used three 3M Command sticky strips, and I hung hooks on the primary Vista, the Abit, and the Epox computers for headsets and headphones.  Yes beside using the internet, one had to do a lot of computer maintenance in my current apartment setup.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 3:55 A.M..  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I am on a limited income, so it is expensive to go downtown every day, even on nice days.  There are very few people here that I have not already seen before.  It is the nature of the Ivy League with all of their smart people with connections that they frequently think they run the world, until they are put to the test, but they frequently have money, so they can hire smarter people to get their way.  I was told today by an advisor that the Scientologists flood the courts in law suits with lots of nonsense paper work from inexpensive graduate law students.  There might be a cleaver way of ending that by charging a per page fee for legal briefs.  I know Cyrus Vance's word processor could type 180 words per minute on the old word processors before computers, and she drank a lot of coffee, but just because one fills a library full of propaganda does not mean it is true, it is just somebody else's viewpoint and usually if they are spending so much money for propaganda, more than likely they are hoping to make more money off it by other methods.

My grandfather Scott always said, "Believe Nothing That You Hear, and Half of What You See."  Of course out in Illinois where a lot of them seem to end up in prison, there are a lot of people to sort it out, and there is a lot of time to figure it out.  From what I know, more than likely once the money runs out in Greenwich, Connecticut some of the more private simpler people will probably regain control of the town from the hoard of outside invaders from around the world whom seemed to have been misinformed about the wealth of the community.  About 10 years ago, there was a sign in the Greenwich, Connecticut train station that the whole town was only worth $5,000,000,000; and at that time nobody was interested in buying it.  Of course with so many expensive houses that can not be resold easily, we get a lot of renters paying high rents hoping to make quick profits off the community or their connections.  Alas, there are plenty of lawyers out here and in neighboring communities along with Manhattan, so if you see some of your former neighbors from Greenwich doing whatever they really do in Manhattan, do not be surprised.  Obviously a lot of the people I know in Manhattan walk a lot, so more than likely they might know more than a parked news truck.

I do know the area around Fred's http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm apartment at 420 East 49th street use to be like the scenes in the old American television program, "The Man From Uncle".  Alas after rush hour passes that neighborhood twice a day coming and going, there does not seem to be really anything going on there, since a lot of the residents travel frequently or are elderly and do not go out much.  It is just in the middle of the Hospital complexes that run up the East side of Manhattan for about 30 blocks in either direction, so maybe they are all Hospital Workers, and Fred was the character from the Rocky Horror Show.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 3:25 A.M..  I was told today about this Winklevoss twins made $65 million on Facebook “copycat” settlement » VentureBeat .  Needless to say nobody has tried to sue me, since I was around this technology before most of them were alive, and a lot of the original patent holders might be pushing up tulips.  Speaking of tulips, there are only two tulips out at the veterans monument downtown, so it definitely was a colder winter.  With IBM and GE around here along with a few other companies, there has always been industrial espionage, and it is my viewpoint the local garbage men seem to make more money off high technology for their skills compared to some of the real inventors.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 2:45 A.M..  There use to be a French company on Arch Street in Greenwich, Connecticut that had a small local office near the Merry Go Round Mews Thrift shop, and as I recall they sell turbines like one would use in a dam to generate electricity.  I can not recall their name or if they even still exist, but more than likely in some form or the other, they are still in business.  It might be this company Howmet Corp. -- Company History  at 475 Steamboat Road, but they make Jet Turbines, and it does not say anything about dam turbines which are quite a bit bigger.  I think their name began with P, but if it were Rhône-Poulenc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , but it does not say anything about dam turbines.  All I can find is Hydro Energy Businesses in France , but the name does not sound familiar.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 1:50 A.M..  The Que Windows Vista SP1 book came with a DVD that I should copy and look at.  I should also look at the book.  I am not getting much computer work done recently, but after the long cold winter inside, I am enjoying getting outside for a bit of exercise and sun.  When one gets more sun, it raises the dopamine level in the brain, and with a lack of dopamine, one gets Parkinson's like symptoms.  Also it is suppose to be good to reduce one cholesterol by exercise walking.  I can not afford an expensive low cholesterol diet, but I have always walked a lot.  We seemed to have a lot of the local citizens spending a little bit more time downtown in Greenwich instead of shopping and working in neighboring communities.  Many of them know a lot more than I do, but I am suppose to keep doing what I do, and I am not suppose to know what goes one, and I am suppose to get a hair cut when I can afford it, and I am suppose to stay focused.

As a point of mute interest in the interior decorating community, one of the more senior people that visited http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm 's apartment between 1973 and 1975 when I was a frequent guest there and helped him maintain the apartment was David E. Lilienthal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , and since David Lilienthal was involved with Lazard Freres that bought up a lot of the Florida Keys and helped develop them, possibly since Fred the last time I chatted with him had a Chinese roommate named John who was going to www.columbia.edu , and Fred was reading 600 year old books in Chinese possibly from the Morgan Library, possibly Fred might have been in China helping on the Three Gorges Dam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia with his language skills.  Needless to say, they do not seem to need anybody to take out laundry anymore, and get groceries and coffee, and drive them around and keep an eye on the www.un.org neighborhood anymore.  Possibly since Fred was born on December 25, 1947, he might have taken early retirement in some more remote part of the world, and since most of his house guests were German, he might be in Germany or some place where Germans retire or a lot of Germans live.  From my viewpoint, I lived around the Tennessee Valley Authority before I moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, and George Cary is from around Niagara Falls, and Myles McGough's father was involved in building Hoover Dam, and Tony Pigato showed me lots of pictures of new dam construction in the Amazon River Basin in Brazil, so there might be a common thread to some of these distant friends.  Of course there are a lot of dams where Bill Gates lives in Washington state, and when I went to Norway, they talked about Nord Hydro Nord Hydro .  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 11:35 P.M..  When I reheated the last of the sliced lamb, I was out of mushroom gravy, so I put a bit of Texas Best Bulls Eye Barbeque Sauce on it along with Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce and Kikkoman soy sauce, and then I reheated it on the vegetable cycle in the GE microwave oven.  I also put a few sliced mushrooms in my vegetable mixture.  I made up another batch of passion punch.  I chatted with a relative.  I chatted with a scuba diver today on the back side of the laundry at the Cos Cob laundry, and he told me he gets $400 to $500 per dive, so I guess scuba divers are doing pretty well these days, but it is a hazardous occupation with all of the big fish in the ocean.

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 9:30 P.M..  I woke up at 10:30 A.M. this morning, when I had a telephone call from the American Indians trying to fund raise for poor Indians in Arizona.  I explained to them that on limited income, I can not afford to donate, but at least they own some property, so they are not that hard up. I showered, and I cleaned up.

I ordered Newegg.com - Isymphony NC2 Circumaural Noise Canceling Stereo Headphone for $8.99 with free shipping.  I will use it for my headset that plays my stereo system at the primary Vista computer replacing the older Realistic one.

I threw out the garbage.  I went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.  I then went over to Radio Shack in Cos Cob, and I bought a Gold-Plated Stereo Adapter, 1/8" Jack to 1/4" Plug - RadioShack.com for $5.49 and .33 tax for $5.82 total.  I will use it with the new headphones to connect them to the Audio cable.  I tried to help out a local French citizen start his older American car with my little tiny jumper system that I had in the car, but it would not work.  He called a relative to jump start his car.  I am not suppose to jump start my Audi, because it has a computer ignition system that can be damaged by jump starting.  I toured the CVS in Cos Cob, and I used the bathroom there.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I chatted with some locals.  I browsed the front entrance of CVS.  I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.

I then drove over to www.homedepot.com in Port Chester, New York, and I toured their garden department.  I noticed their energy saving light bulbs in four packs are $1.50 to $2.00 each which is cheaper than $5 at CVS.  I noticed there is a new Walgreen's in downtown Port Chester on Main street across from Costco.

I bought a Kidde Pro 340 Fire Extinguisher - 21005782 at The Home Depot for $49.97, Command 3M™ Command™ Adhesive Medium Hook Replacement Strips 17021 - 17021P at The Home Depot for $2.57, and a GE 25 ft Handset Coil Cord, White - 26122004 at The Home Depot for $5.57 and $4.29 tax for $62.40 total.

I then returned home, and I brought up my purchases and the mail.  I put the Radio Shack gold plug by the FIC server where the headphones will be.  I put the Kidde Fire Extinguisher along side the Chief Croker fire extinguisher.  It is  not as large as the Chief Croker, but it will be handy in an emergency.  I put the sign with the red "Fire Extinguisher" down arrow on the mirror above the fire extinguishers.  I labeled its date on the tag and the serial number.  I put the new white 25 foot GE handset line on the new AT&T wall phone in the kitchen, and it works just fine.  I will store the 3M Command strips on the right lower shelf of the cabinet on the sideboard in the bedroom.  I use to them to attach the hooks to my monitors that I hang headsets from.  I chatted with a relative.

I will now make and eat the same dinner as the last four nights without the stuffing.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 2:15 A.M..  This is about the best deal I can find in a fire extinguisher search "Kidde Pro 340 Fire Extinguisher model 21005782" at www.homedepot.com .  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment today, so I have to be up at noon.  Besides the two fire extinguishers in my apartment, I also have one in the car and one in the hallway outside of my apartment.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/16/09 Thursday 1:25 A.M..  Back around 1964, I drove down to Williamsburg, Virginia Colonial Virginia - Williamsburg Virginia Official Site - Guide for Colonial Williamsburg, VA with Jerry Harrison a neighbor from Round Hill Road and Mrs. Barclay who was Carlisle Humesline's secretary, and he was in charge of Colonial Williamsburg.  We hauled down some traditional white wrought iron furniture in a U-Haul trailer, and stayed with Mrs. Barclay who lived in the restored old jail in the historic district across from the state mental asylum which was yellow brick.  Since we lived in the historic district, we got to drink beer and eat ham sandwiches at the Sir Walter Raleigh tavern, and we got to see how they made salt pottery beer mugs.  We saw them firing the cannons every day, and we toured most of the old restored buildings.  We also saw Jamestown, Virginia which had a statue of Pocahontas.  We toured the colonial capital building and the governor's palace too.  During the trips we also visited some of their friends at a large brick house on the James River that from what I recall looks like Welcome to the Carter Hall Conference Center-Project Hope , but as I recall it was nearer Williamsburg and not west of Washington D.C., so possibly it was another similar looking house on the James River.  It was a private residence.  We also went to a wedding that had a reception at the The Country Club of Virginia , and as I recall the Boar's Head Country Club was across the road.  Since I had lived down south for a few years before, I knew something about southern manners and hospitality, which I seem to have forgotten a long time ago dealing with all of the Big City Folks in the New York City area.  http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm use to accompany Helen Kress Williams down to Williamsburg, when she lectured at the Colonial Williamsburg Society, so they must have known something about the history of the area.

Also when I looked at colleges before going to www.lfc.edu , I drove down to Washington and Lee University :: Lexington, Virginia , and my father and I were shown around the campus by the President of the University.  Also when we were driving north to Fairfield County, Connecticut from Decatur, Alabama in the summer of 1961, we toured Thomas Jefferson's Monticello , and on one of those trips we also toured the University of Virginia .  However, during the radical years around American Universities during the Viet Nam War, we had better security at www.lfc.edu since it was next to Fort Sheridan www.army.mil base and just south of Great Lakes Naval Station, so more than likely we were somewhat secluded other than what we knew from the New York Times.  However, it was rather cold out there, so more than likely we learned to keep busy in cold weather.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/15/09 Wednesday 11:00 P.M..  As a point of mute interest a Vice President of the United States does not get Secret Service protection after he is vice president, but a few people probably still keep and eye on him.  I ate the same lamb dinner as the last few nights.  I still have enough lamb left for another meal.  I did not have anymore stuffing.  I threw out lamb bone after I had cut off the remaining lamb.  It is a nice spring night.

The government is talking about shovel ready projects.  I remember back in the mid 1970s, Nelson Rockefeller wanted to build a bridge across Long Island Sound from Sands Point, Long Island to New Rochelle, New York, but they later cancelled the project.  I once thought it might be a good idea to build a bridge from Oyster Bay, Long Island to Steamboat Road in Greenwich, but when I studied the maps, it looks like it would be a shorter distance from Lloyd's Neck, Long Island to South Norwalk, Connecticut.  However, one of the most frequent fishermen on Steamboat Road advised me there is a very deep canyon running along the bottom of Long Island Sound, so it would not be feasible to build a bridge with today's technology.  They could build some sort of floating bridge, but with the tides and the ocean currents, there probably would be major complications.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/15/09 Wednesday 9:20 P.M..  I woke up around noon today. I chatted with a relative.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I threw out the garbage.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I bought a Fast 50's scratch card for a dollar, but I lost.  I stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I toured the store.  They sell a Kidd fire extinguisher there for $42.99 that is a decent size in an emergency.  I have a larger Chief Croker one that was charged up in December 1999, but it says it is still fully charged, so I guess I do not need another one.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 9.75 ounce can of Planters whole cashew nuts for $3.50 or $2.99 off.  I ate some at the bench up towards the top of Greenwich Avenue.  I then finished my walk.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts center, and I ate some more cashew nuts, and I fed some to the sparrows.  I then went by the Greenwich Tobacco shop, and I bought two ounces of Round Hill pipe tobacco for $8.80 total.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with the reference librarian.  There was a fellow there from India wearing a black turban.  It was about 9 years ago in the last week of May, I met Dr. Pelai from India, and he was wearing a black turban, and that same day somebody took high powered rifle shot at me at the southwestern picnic area at Tod's Point.  The two copies of P.C. Magazine have not been available at the Greenwich Library recently.  I then returned home.  I helped a neighbor find the key for his new car.  I picked up my mail.  I ate the rest of the cashew nuts.  I also ate a 1/6th piece of pumpkin pie.  I put the Round Hill pipe tobacco in its plastic bag in the ceramic Win Schulor mustard jar on my pipe stand that I keep in my bedroom window to have available to smoke my pipe in case I can not afford cigarettes.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/15/09 Wednesday 12:55 A.M..  Well not much happening way out here in Southwestern Greenwich, Connecticut.  Well at least I know how to communicate instead of letting the minions of William Randolph Hearst III dictates all of the news in www.greenwichtime.com .  However, since my branch of the Scott family is suppose to be an original First Family of Virginia, more than likely we are already related to the Randolph family way back when.  I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  As a minor point of dispute, when I first got on the internet over 15 years ago, there was a Scott family member murdered Donald P. Scott - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia by California Sheriffs in Malibu, California on his 200 acre ranch, when they accused him for planting illegal marijuana on his ranch at his elderly age in his mid 70s, when it was more than likely local hippies trespassing on his property.  Thus it would seem a lot of these so called liberal hippies have separate political agendas, so more than likely the Old Guard will have to keep a closer eye on them.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/15/09 Wednesday 12:10 A.M..  Since Fred was busy catering to a mostly Social Register clientele, there were other vendors in Manhattan trying to get some of this business and contacts.  I recall the people from Columbia, South America were particularly energetic in the Beekman Place neighborhood.  Possibly since Fred had lived with Richard Nixon's ambassador to Spain in Madrid, Spain, he knew other Spanish speaking people from elsewhere in the world.  I just opened another 36 ounce bag of Eight O'clock Columbian coffee.  In Fred's day, the A&P heir Huntington Hartford was a neighbor in the Beekman Place neighborhood, and the A&P company owned Eight O'Clock coffee before they sold it to www.coke.com .  Alas Fred only bought Viennese Blend coffee from Mr. McNulty down on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, and for breakfast he would only eat fresh croissants flow in from Paris, France on the Concorde and sold at the bakery on the southeast corner of 49th street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.  The Kips Bay boys club was near Fred's apartment, so maybe he knew some younger people that finally grew up to be a bit older.  George Cary even visited us there, and he seemed to enjoy the Billy Baldwin decorating style that Fred tried to learn from Billy Baldwin, since Fred was suppose to be taking over his business.  Fred's business partner was Taylor Sterling that lived here in Greenwich, Connecticut and next to the Citicorp building in Manhattan.  Although I have a talent for design and decorating, I frequently find it tedious looking at scrap books of paint and wall paper and carpet and catalogs of various items, so on a limited budget, when I was in Nantucket, I found it necessary to eat, so I learned a bit about being kitchen help in the local Nantucket restaurants.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/14/09 Tuesday 11:35 P.M..  There might be some extra British Citizens here in Greenwich, Connecticut.  I saw one young fellow downtown today with a small British flag on his blue cardigan.  At the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, I saw the fellow from India with his wife for a change, and the first time I saw him, was on the Christmas Eve before the Tsunami in Indonesia, so I tend to think when I see him some global catastrophy is about to happen.   We did not speak.  I noticed a lot more of an international group of people using the Greenwich Library today, since I am only limited to American English, I do not try to network too much, since it confuses people in other languages, since I speak American English quite fast.  I was told by someone from India recently that there has not been an emperor or empress in India for over 400 years, so it has me confused that Queen Victoria was the last Empress of India, unless she was a lot older than she appeared.  I once read that the Battenberg family from Germany were actually from India, which might explain the British connection.  I never studied European History very much in my education, but I know there are other European and worldwide royal families that seem to come and go in this area with the www.un.org being nearby in Manhattan.  Since the news media does not cover the U.N. locally, one never knows what they are doing.  When I helped Fred Von Mierers http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm  around the apartment at 420 East 49th street in Manhattan when I was a guest there, we never paid any attention to the U.N., and we did mostly house keeping errands.  There were a lot of international visitors that frequented his apartment and a few Americans, and one of the first Americans, I remember was someone that looked like Wilbur Banks from Greenwich, Connecticut who was the Electrolux vacuum cleaner salesman, and Fred bought a new unit from him.  We still have the Electrolux salesroom off Armagone Causeway to the east of Greenwich Avenue, but they now have some sort of new name.  I think their units run close to a $1,000 now, so I bought two years ago a complicated Hoover from www.lnt.com as a clearance item for $80 down from $450, but it works quite well.  I donated my two old vintage Electrolux vacuum cleaners to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.  I still have a fairly new Sears Upright with attachments and extra bags that I repaired, when a neighbor threw it out.  Although I do not have much floor space in my apartment with all of the various items, the new Hoover is also very good at picking up dust, and since it does not use bags, one can save money on dollar bags from Electrolux.  The Hoover looks like it was designed by a folding bicycle mechanic, so it is somewhat complicated to figure out how to use, but it works quite well.  It is also a bit heavy.  As I recall from the www.greenwichtime.com , the Duke of Windsor dedicated a statue at the Electrolux factory in Old Greenwich, Connecticut around 1926 on a state visit, so the Anglophile community have been keeping busy vacuuming ever since.  I think there was a Swedish fellow that knew the Duke of Windsor when he was Governor of the Bahamas, and the Swedish fellow use to lend his yacht the Southern Cross for the Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor to go back and forth to Europe and travel to the United States on.  The Duke of Windsor also knew somebody in the Bahamas that was murdered, and the individual owned a very prosperous gold mind somewhere up in Canada. Wilbur Banks was in the Duke of Windsor's Honor Guard in Newport, Rhode Island, so he must have visited Newport too.  CIO

I have been advised that I can not have too many guests here, since it creates security problems for my neighbors.  However, since I am mostly on the internet and computers all of the time, I have global communications, but people seem unwilling or unable to communicate, so therefore they probably are more interested in more expensive activities in this area.  Basically from what I know which is not much, I am mostly reading through the tea leaves here all of the time.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/14/09 Tuesday 7:55 P.M..  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.  The Queen Mary II was back in Manhattan from its around the World Tour QM2 - Itinerary - 2009 .  For breakfast I ate a bowl of oatmeal with honey and a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a glass of 50% passion punch and 50% cold filtered water with vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and splenda.  I went back to bed until noon.  I washed the breakfast dishes.   I made my bed.  I chatted with a relative.

I ordered for a relative to be delivered to another relative to be used in Maine a Uniden TRU9485-4W-R 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone w/3 Extra Handsets, Recertified - TRU9485-4W - Buy.com for $39.99 with free shipping.  The relative paid for it.  I chatted with the relative twice more.

I ate two hot dogs with buns and mustard and ketchup and 1/4th of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream onion and potato chips and a dill pickle slice and a glass of watered down passion punch.

I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went out, and I went downtown.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by CVS, and I bought a 12 roll bundle of Scott toilet paper for $6.99 and .42 tax for $7.41 total.  I finished my walk.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.  I bought a like new AT&T model 210 white Princess Wall phone for $3 and it came with a telephone cable.  I also bought a 12 foot coaxial cable for $1 for $4 total.  I then went by the Greenwich Library, and I read P.C. World Magazine.  I used the bathroom.  I chatted with someone from the Greenwich Land Trust about http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm .  I checked out a large book by Que on Microsoft Vista SP1.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and they said I had no proof that the Hillshire sliced turkey meat was 3 packages for $10 last Friday, so they would not refund my money.

I bought a yesterday's pumpkin pie for $2.50, three eight packs of Stop and Shop hot dog buns for $5 all, two Ball Park bun size mixed meat franks for $2.50 each package, fresh Chiquita bananas for .68 a pound for .99, and a liter bottle of Perrier for $1.49 and .05 bottle deposit less a $1.49 off from the free Perrier Jimmy fund coupon for $13.58 total.  I then returned home, and I brought up my purchases.

I took the Radio Shack wall phone off the kitchen wall, and I installed the AT&T white princess style model 210 wall phone on the wall using a one foot telephone cable, and I also put an older 25 foot slightly soiled white handset cable on it, so it can be used at a distance.  Of course I have the two line Panasonic cordless telephone in the kitchen and the Uniden single line cordless at the kitchen entrance, but the AT&T telephone like the Radio Shack phone has a volume switch to increase its audio for people hard of hearing.  It works just fine.  I put the spare telephone cable in the top left FIC server desk in the living room.  I put the 12 foot Coaxial cable on the lower level of the sweater closet in the hallway.

I will now make and reheat the same lamb dinner as the last two days.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/13/09 Monday 10:50 P.M..  In the last recession back in the fall of 1976, www.mcdonalds.com would not even hire me in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The following winter after working in restaurants in Nantucket, I found work at the THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED La Vieille Maison Restaurant Boca Raton Miami/South Florida FL Reviews Gayot where I earned $2.15 an hour as a dish washer for a few months.  I took home about $85 a week which was not enough to rent a small apartment, so the chef leant me a tent to camp out in the small patch of jungle on the north side of the Boca Inlet.  I had to quit the job around the middle of January 1977, when a bull dozer showed up to build the new Excelsior Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida.  I took my last pay check, and I bought a round trip ticket to Nassau from the Fort Lauderdale airport, and I arrived in Nassau.  I checked my back pack at the airport, and I started to walk into town with a small ditty bag.  I was given a ride by a local taxi cab driver that showed me his house over looking Paradise island and offer me a smoke, since I had quit smoking cigarettes at that time.  He then showed me the Cloister on Paradise Island, and he told me I could camp out there.  I went for a walk around the grounds after resting for a while, and I met Richard Mercy who was from London, England.  The next evening, he showed up, and we walked the beach, and he showed me a solar powered generator.  I leant him my Addidas sneakers, since the little pine cones on the beach hurt his feet.  He suggested that I stay in a cottage at the Paradise Island resort with his roommate Romsey from London, so I stayed there.  It was quite humid inside, since the British tend not to use air conditioning.  The following evening, we went to the Casino in a white Cadillac limousine, and we picked up a lady with a body guard that looked like the Shah of Iran's wife.  There were about 5,000 young blond haired people in the Casino in formal ware, and I was only wearing khakis and a red flannel shirt.  We had a vegetarian dinner, and we did not gamble.  Richard Mercy told me he was a banker in London, England, and he lived at Eaton Square.  I ate a McDonalds in downtown Nassau with my last money, and I walked out to the airport.  There were a half dozen B.O.A.C. 747s at the Nassau airport.  I picked up my back pack, and I had to pay a $3 exit tax, and I returned back to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I knew how to camp out.  I think a few days later, I hitchhiked down to Key West, Florida, where I camped out, until I met John Bolton who had the key to the Casa Marina Hotel which was just beginning to under go renovation.  While in Key West, Florida that winter Jimmy Eldert showed up again, and we had dinner with a friend of his at his friend's Japanese house near the Casa Marina, and I once cooked a red snapper that I bought off the pier at Jimmy's apartment across the street from the Catholic Church.  Later on that season Jimmy said good bye, and he left Key West, Florida with blue duffle bag, and he hitch hiked out to California.  The next fall, John and I drove through Santa Cruz, California, but we did not know Jimmy was there.  The following fall, I looked him up in Santa Cruz, California, where he was attending the University there, and he lived nearby O'Neal's surf shop, and he had a part time job as a disk jockey at the Catholic Church radio station in Santa Cruz, California.  By the mid 1980s, Jimmy had moved to the Malibu Colony, and I lost track of him, once I got on the internet.  Helen Kress Williams of Oyster Bay, Long Island said we were suppose to keep an eye on him, but she never explained why, but she had a large network of Old Guard friends.  More than likely he is still living in warmer climates, since they have too much snow in Syracuse, New York where he was raised.  From what I know, he might be living around some of Richard Nixon's old friends in California, whom seemed to have survived unlike the East Coast republicans whom are pretty much down the tubes.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/13/09 Monday 10:00 P.M..  When I was outside this evening at dusk, I heard an owl out in the woods.

During the last recession during from the third week of September 1976 until about May 1, 1977 and from October 1977 to about May 1, 1978, I was outside a lot in south Florida, since I did not have a place to stay.  I saw a lot of nature in that period, and I got use to observing nature.  Around February 1978, when I was staying with a friend and his sister in Daytona Beach, Florida, we took off on a short trip down to the Florida Keys and on the return, we were sleeping in the in the 1971 yellow Subaru station wagon from Nantucket, and at sun rise out on the west side of Boca Raton, Florida by the polo fields we saw a very large Grey Panther watching us, like we might be breakfast.

Of course I lived down south in Martinsville, Virginia from 1953 to 1954, and I recall killing a Copperhead snake with a shovel that was in our yard.  In Pensacola, Florida where we lived from 1954 to 1956, I would see lots of buzzards in the sky, and I was once out in the bayou across the street behind the neighbor's house in about a 8 foot long row boat, and I recall being kept from coming back to shore by about an eight food long alligator that eventually let me get back to shore.  I was only about five years old then.  In Decatur, Alabama from 1956 to 1961, we were living along the Tennessee Fly Way, so we would see millions of birds all of the time depending on the season.  Up north, it is colder in the winter, so one does not get outside as much in colder weather, but from what I know there is still northern wildlife around these parts, and it is my viewpoint the wildlife migrates from north to south with the seasons, so now that it is getting warmer, the wildlife is coming back north.  A Florida panther might be pretty much the same thing as a Mountain Lion or a Cougar.  CIO

The order for two NXG® Basix Series Y-Cable with RCA Connectors - RadioShack.com for $3.99 each arrived FedEx tracking, but they sent me six by mistake, since one package contained five.  Thus I have four spare ones.  I moved the Sony five disk CD player back into the stereo rack system in the bookcase to the right of the Sony television.  I connected it up with the RCA Y splitters and a 3 foot audio cable that I had.  I thus have the longer audio cable still going into the Sony cabinet beneath the Sony television, so I can connect up the Sony juke box, when it arrives.  It was sent parcel post from Jacksonville, Alabama on this past Monday, so it will take a while.  Both Sony units will play off the CD button of the Technics amplifier.

All current installed components seems to work just fine.  I put ther spare RCA Y adapters on the lower shelf of the Sony cabinet.

When I tried removing the number labels off three of the CDs yesterday, it removed the magnetic material, so the first three CDs did not work.  I had copies of the songs on my computer, so I reburned the first three CDs, and I made a second copy.  They are old Beatles music for any old timers around the area.   They are some of the first MP3s I found on the internet many moons ago.

My father Louis Dale Scott when he worked for Chemstrand frequently made trips to England, and he met General Norman Ireland Smith around 1962, and General Smith gave my father two Beatles albums, which my father gave to my older sister.  They were never distributed in the United States, but they were popular, so all of the teenagers would listen to them at various parties in Greenwich, and since my sister knew Patty Landware from Holland, Michigan whose family owned the Greenwich Radio station, they use to also play those two Beatles albums on the Greenwich radio station at the time.  A couple of years later, the Beatles showed up on the Ed Sullivan show, and thus began our long affiliation with CBS, but I only received about two to three months of pay checks from them back in the spring and summer of 1973, when I worked at their broadcast center on West 57th street during the Watergate Hearings when nothing was happening at the Broadcast Center because of the continuous live feed from the Senate Hearings.  Even Walter Cronkite was up sailing in Nantucket all summer that year, before he moved to Martha's Vineyard.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/07/09 Tuesday 7:40 P.M..  When I tried my hand at blue fishing on Nantucket out by Lyon Farm road by the old Navy Quonset hut used for nuclear preparedness, I used a new surf casting rod with Penn reel and 50 pound test line and 100 pound test leader with weights with two Hopkins lures from St. Louis, Missouri.  The fiberglass surf rod split into halves for storage, and although I had secured the farrells to it by wrapping them one with nylon thread, I had not yet wrapped the whole road and polyurethaned it yet, which I did in California later that year.  It was around the first week of October 1978.  I caught 78 blue fish and 2 stripped bass around the last two hours of daylight at high tide.  As I caught the fish twice two at a time, I filleted them on the beach and rinsed them off in the ocean, and I threw the fish heads and guts back in the ocean which probably attracted more fish.  I sold the blue fish filets to the Languedoc restaurant where I worked for 29 cents a pound and the stripped bass for filets for 59 cents a pound.  At lunch time that time of year, they had a blue fish special for $4 which Flossie liked.  I never caught anything again with that rod and reel, although it did see quite a bit of Florida and California, so I guess I had beginners luck my first time.

Note: <888> 04/07/09 Tuesday 5:55 P.M..  I have 91 music CDs in my music collection.  About half of them are contemporary and half are classical.  I did not need to remove the number labels on the ones that I had burned myself, since the sticker are on firmly enough.  As I put them in the CD juke box, I will have to make up a list, so I know which numbers to search for.  I have not read the manual yet, so I do not know what sort of bells and whistles it has.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/07/09 Tuesday 4:45 P.M..  I went out after my last note.  I went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue.  I bought a four color black, green, blue, and red Expo dry erase marker set for $5.49 less the $2 bonus bucks coupon that I got in the mail plus .21 tax for $3.70 total.  I will use them to mark my CDs and I will remove the labels I stuck on them, so the labels can not fall off in the CD juke box and jam it.  I sat out briefly in the cold dark weather downtown.  It does not seem like we have much of a problem with global warming in this neck of the woods.  I went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I was told that the people on Social Security SSI income will receive a $250 economic stimulus this May 2009.  I then returned home.  I used a dollar in parking, since the first meter at CVS took two quarters and did not work, so I had to move to an adjacent spot.  I will leave the magic marker set to the left of the Samsung color laser printer.  I will mark the CDs that I have when I have time before I put them in the CD juke box.  I was told by a regular walker at Tod's Point, it is a great white egret next on top of the Eagle statue at Tod's Point in the tidal pool.  I guess I would have seen a lot of their nests in the Florida keys in the 1970s, so that is perhaps why I recognized it.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/06/09 Monday 12:05 P.M..  I woke up this morning at 7 A.M., when a friend called.  We chatted for a while. I watched some television.  I showered, and I cleaned up.  I went downstairs, and I chatted with neighbors.

I just bought for $20 and $6 postage a backup used Motorola Surfboard SBV5120 Cable Modem like I already have from Cablevision MOTOROLA SURFboard SBV5120 CABLE MODEM - eBay (item 320355206980 end time Apr-06-09 08:38:42 PDT) .  Thus I have a backup Cable Modem in case the primary one fails, which I can always get replaced free of charge.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/05/09 Sunday 11:55 P.M..  I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary Vista computer, and I will go to bed soon.  Have a good evening.  I do not have any appointments until this Thursday afternoon, but I have to be on a day schedule, in case my rent bill comes from the Greenwich Housing Authority, so I can pay it.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/05/09 Sunday 11:40 P.M..  When I was walking down Greenwich Avenue today around George Jensen jewelers, a little girl walking up Greenwich Avenue with her friend stepped on a small blue balloon on the sidewalk, and it exploded making a popping sound.  By the time I got back down to the Senior and the Arts center, everyone had disappeared on Greenwich Avenue, except for a few kids.

Earlier this evening, I called the local security office, and I told them about the large birds nest on top of the eagle statue on the tidal pond at Tod's Point.  From what I can tell it is 4 to 5 feet in diameter built with large sticks.  It could be a stork's nest, but storks are not common in North America.  There was a large white heron in the tidal pond by the windsurfing beach too, but I do not know what type of nests they build.  If it were an eagle's nest, which does not make sense, since I though eagles preferred to build nests at higher elevations, and an eagle can be dangerous, since they can dive bomb a target from thousands of feet in the air.  Out west they are known for killing sheep, and other smaller animals.  I was not close enough to the nest to see if there were any eggs or eaglets in the nest, and I did not see any eagles around, but I was driving my Audi, when I saw it, and I did not get out to observe more closely.   They also took down the bushes along the road before the windsurfing beach.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/05/09 Sunday 10:50 P.M..  I will probably put it in the Sony Cabinet underneath the Sony television.  I have an RCA connector cable, but I am not sure if it is long enough to reach the Technics amplifier.  I might need a pair of Y RCA male to RCA female splitters to connect it to the amplifier, and they are generally available at Radio Shack.  Or I could just disconnect the 5 DISK SONY CD player, and use its connection.  I also have the Phillips 5 Disk DVD player which will play CDs also.  CIO

I then drove over to Staples in Old Greenwich, and I bought a package of three clamp binders for $8.29 and two packages of Hammermill paper for $3.99 each and .98 tax for $17.25 total.  There is a $3.99 rebate on the second package of paper that I can file for online.  I chatted with another customer in the parking lot.  I then drove over to the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.  All of the clothes with yellow tags are half price.  I then went downtown, and I used the bathroom at the senior and the arts center.  I walked lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by St. Moritz bakery, but they were out of croissants.  I looked at Planet Pizza, and a slice of cheese pizza there is $3.  Subway sandwich starts at $5.  The Chinese takeout starts at $5 to $7.  I then drove over to the Greenwich Automotive Service Gulf Station, and I bought $10.40 of self service premium gasoline for $2.559 a gallon for 4.065 gallons since last Saturday for 60.5 miles driven at 62,367 miles on the odometer for 14.8832 miles per gallon driving a little bit faster this week.  I then returned home.  I chatted with neighbors.  I picked up my mail.  My $10 PNY memory rebate check arrived.  I made and ate a breaded boneless breast of chicken breast with my steamed vegetable mixture with olive oil and a glass of watered down passion punch and a cup of Salada green tea with the hot vegetable water with a package of splenda and a couple teaspoons of lemon juice.   I put the wedding photo of Prince Wilhelm and Princess Maxima in the new frame, and I hung it over the top center of the inside of the apartment entrance door.  I am now displaying the old Paris post card in the old frame with saran wrap in between the two mirrors on the same door.  CIO

Note: <888> 04/02/09 Thursday 7:55 A.M..  I have not had my hair cut since mid September 2008, when I paid $15 to get it cut in Kennebunkport, Maine.  I usually get my hair cut in Old Greenwich at the :::: The Haircut Place ::::, but they now cost $24, and I usually give them a $5 tip, since I usually have longer hair, so it would cost me about $29 and about $5 in gasoline to go over there for about $34, but currently it is still a bit colder here outside, so I will wait another month until warmer weather sets in, where I will not feel the cold as much on my head.  One can lose 50% of one's body heat through one's head in colder temperatures, so there is no rush to get a hair cut.  On Greenwich Avenue, it costs $20 to get a hair cut, but since I have long curly hair, I usually go some place, where they know how to deal with it, instead of getting the standard preppy hair cut on Greenwich Avenue.  CIO
