I will eat a Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and cheese croissant with two toasted multigrain English muffins with Smart Balance spread, and pineapple chunks with mandarin oranges, and a glass of Carolina filtered water with some pineapple juice and cranberry juice and a cup of coffee with artificial sweetener and almond milk. I finished installing on a second partition on the Acer Aspire R11 laptop Windows 12 beta Rufus, and I configured it. It all seems to run fine enough, but it does not seem to be very different than Windows 11.

04/27/23 Thursday 11:10 P.M.. I went out to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought six 16 ounce Dole mandarin oranges for $18.74 total. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a five pound bag of yellow potatoes for $5.29, a four pack of Chaboni no sugar 8 ounce strawberry yogurt for $4, and a six pack of Stop and Shop multigrain English muffins for $2.99 for $12.28 total. I then went to the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue. They are opened, but they are in the process of painting the outside. I bought $20.01 of self service premium gasoline for $4.849 a gallon for 4.128 gallons at odometer reading of 124113 miles for 57.9 miles driven since Tuesday April 18, 2021 for 14.027 miles per gallon in local traffic. I then returned home. I put away my groceries. I put the grey bag back in the car, and I drank a brewed coffee outside. I filed this report. I will now go outside again. CIO

All I can figure out on the HP desktop on the upper right at the far end of the oak dining table is that its bios was hacked through the internet, so F9 boot option does not work. Still for now with Windows 11 on it, it works just fine.

It is still basically the same new bios setup that does not work for the F9 and the F10 keys, but it works fine enough to start Windows 11 on the system.

On the Windows 12 Canary beta installation on the HP I5 desktop, I was able to get the USB Pen drive to boot by pressing F9 and then the ESC key instead of selecting the USB drive. CIO

04/24/23 Monday 3:20 A.M.. I could not get Linux Mint to install on a second partition with Windows 12 beta, so I deleted Windows 12 beta, and I installed Linux Mint on the lower right HP computer at the far end of the oak dining table.

04/24/23 Monday 12:50 A.M.. I burned the Linux Mint .iso file to a DVD. On the HP Compaq computer on the lower right at the far end of the oak dining table with Windows 12 beta, I was able to get the Linux Mint DVD to boot by enabling UEFI in the bios, and booting F9 and selecting UEFI DVD/RW option to boot, and the Linux Mint DVD booted. I am now installing Linux Mint dual boot on a second partition on it.

The new Hotpoint refrigerator was installed at 4:30 P.M., but it can not be plugged in until 7:30 P.M. to give time for the Freon to settle. I went out, and I went by the ATM machine at the www.chase.com Bank on West Putnam Avenue. I went by www.mcdonalds.com , and I bought two McDoubles with French Fries and a medium coffee for $11.24 total. I then returned home, and I ate a picnic. A neighbor has helped me out a lot cleaning the kitchen refrigerator area and the kitchen floor, and the neighbor also cleaned my bathroom, and will help me on some other projects in the future. I chatted with a friend. I will now go outside again. One the refrigerator is turned on, with the help of my neighbor, we have to put everything back in the kitchen, the way it was before. CIO

04/17/23 Monday 7:05 A.M.. I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee. When I lived in Greenville, South Carolina for the first six months of 1976, I lived at a apartment for $150 a month at the Woodbridge apartment next to the CBS station which was the first cable station coming out of Atlanta. I worked as an expeditor for Daniel Construction which was later bought out by www.fluor.com . I was told in Saudi Arabia all of the cement was going bad in the hot tankers in the harbor in Saudi Arabia, so it was my idea since they had all of the natural ingredients over there to build cement factories over there. They were building an www.af.mil base over there where the cement on the runway was fifteen feet thick. The wanted to transfer me over there, but I was told it was 140 degrees Fahrenheit over there on the tarmac, which was too hot for me; so I returned up North in time for the Bicentennial in New York Harbor and on the following day, I saw Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip touring Bloomingdales on Third Avenue, and the following day, they sailed by Greenwich on the Britannia to New Haven ignoring Greenwich, and only the old Golden Retriever was downtown on Greenwich Avenue outside the deli on upper Greenwich Avenue. I then ventured up to www.nantucket.net hoping to see some Tall Ships, but none were there. I stayed at the guest house near the White Elephant that was owned by the people on Nantucket that owned the telephone company. I then returned to Greenwich until the third week of September 1976, when I ventured down to Florida hoping to work for www.nasa.gov , but it was too cold in Merritt Island, where I had friends, so I ventured down to Fort Lauderdale, where not too much was happening, and the only tall ship there was the Norwegian tall ship, the Christian Rydek, and I later learned the King of Norway was down there, and the temperature drop to 40 degrees Fahrenheit at night in the third week of September 1976. I did meet a few people down there, but it took until April 1977 in Key West, Florida for my $86 every two weeks unemployment to come through from Daniel Construction. The Army Corps of Engineers was rebuilding the Florida Keys highway for 140 miles of four lane highway, and some of the younger people my age were involved in rebuilding the Southern Most Hotel, the Casa Marina Hotel, and when Jimmy Eldert showed up in February 1977 from the University of New Hampshire after visiting Russia on a State Department tour, there were a whole lot of people that showed up with him, because it was sold cold up North. The only television going on down there was a CNN station running on the television in the lobby of the Southern Cross Hotel on Duval Street. I did know it was cold up North, because the headlines in the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel news box was always about how much snow there was in Buffalo, New York. I knew a few people that had big yachts in the yacht clubs in Fort Lauderdale, but I was left pretty much homeless until they finally towed my 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne at the Swimming Hall of Fame parking lot in January 1977, and I started hitch hiking back and forth between Key West and Fort Lauderdale starving most of the time. I remember one cold night, I stopped by the Howard Johnson's in Marathon for a dollar bowl of oatmeal. Another time, a fellow in a new black Buick from Chicago drove me down to White Head Street in Key West, and on the seven mile bridge, he did a 360 degree spin out going too fast. Once I got my unemployment in April 1977, Rob Glore from Lake Forest, Illinois who owned a craft shop down there cashed my checks. His mother was from the www.dupont.com family that owned the largest chain of banks in Florida. I hitchhiked up to Fort Lauderdale with Jimmy Eldert, and I got my car out of the pound, and we drove to Disney World for a day, and then to St. Augustine, and then to Jacksonville, and visited Hurley Harris Haywood, and then I gave Jimmy $400 to fly back up North to the University of New Hampshire, I drove back up North to Greenwich, and I got a U Haul trailer, and I moved my stuff in the garage in Greenwich to a barn in Norwich, Vermont, and then I gave the car away to the www.nantucket.net Hospital Thrift Shop on India Street. I did a couple of trips off the Island hitch hiking, and I saw Jimmy before I gave away the car, and I also visited Bowden College and Portland, Maine and Stowe, Vermont, and the Boston Science Convention at the Prudential Center, where I met an www.army.mil major that wanted to recruit me for the Army, but after all of that adventure, I only ended up as a pot scrubber at the Gordon Folger Hotel on Nantucket for $2.15 an hour for two seasons, before I transferred to the Le Languedoc restaurant as a pot scrubber and worked my way up to head dishwasher for $8.75 an hour by the time I left at Thanksgiving Time in 1983, and after a side trip to Toronto, I returned to Greenwich on December 13, 1983 on the Aga Khan's birthday who was the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees at the time, and I have been here ever since. I do have relatives of my step father who have continually lived here though since the Civil War.

04/17/23 Monday 5:35 A.M.. Also in February 1978, when I met Richard Mercy that looked like Prince Charles at Paradise Islands in the Bahamas, I returned to Key West, where I met John Bolton. John and I had dinner with Jimmy Eldert at his apartment on Truman Avenue across from St. Margaret's Catholic Church, and Jimmy had CBS stationary in his apartment. Jimmy later took off hitch hiking to Santa Cruz, California where he was a disk jockey at the Catholic Church Radio station broadcasting to Fort Ord. He later moved to the Malibu Colony, and became an actor. John and I went up North to www.nantucket.net , and I was around his family until February 1982 in Manhasset, Long Island, Port Washington, Long Island, and Plandome Manor, Long Island and 315 West 74th Street in Manhattan. Manhasset, Long Island was where Bill Paley the owner of CBS lived. In that period I did five round trips across country, and I built the garage apartment in Plandome Manor for ten months and one three day trip to Frankfort, Germany in December 1980. In Manhattan, I would visit a video bar called Uncle Charlie's on Greenwich Street in Greenwich Village across the street from Ed Koch's apartment with a lot of www.nyu.edu students. In the period from July 1975 to December 1983, when I was out on www.nantucket.net at various times, I did not have any television, but I would occasionally read the press in the Nantucket Atheneum Library near my rental room. I found the Christians Science Monitor had news stories on what I was frequently thinking about. Out on Plandome Manor, there was only a $20 R.C.A. small ten inch black and white television in the kitchen that was only used for watching Wall Street Week whose broadcaster lived on Round Hill Road in Greenwich. Also in Port Washington, John's younger brother was watching mostly cartoons off a cheap 15 inch black and white television. When I later visited George Cary at W. Averill Harriman's sister's garage apartment in Sands Point, Long Island around 1986; I do not recall seeing a television in the garage apartment, but there were lots of books on sailing, so I thought George's diseased cousin might have taken off sailing around the World. My friends from the Red Cross that live down South do not own a television either.

04/17/23 Monday 4:50 A.M.. I rested until 3:50 A.M.. I went outside, and I drank a brewed coffee. When I was at www.cbsnews.com as a clerk typist for commercials in the spring and summer of 1973 on West 57th Street, I was only earning $85 a week before taxes, and I had to pay $35 a week for a room on West 9th Street at the St. Clair residence with a shared bathroom, so beside meals at the CBS cafeteria, I did not have much of a life style. On that Memorial Day weekend, I did take a train out South Hampton, and the A&P there cashed a $20 check for me with my CBS identification. I had to sit on the steps of the West 57th Street, and I smoked cigarettes. Once a French aircraft carrier arrived on the piers of West 57th Street and set loose thousands of cadets walking by. I did not own a television, but I could watch the evening news on all three channels on the three televisions in the little room across from my office desk next to 60 Minutes. There was not any production going on at CBS, because that was during Watergate. I did once visit the Oak Bar at the Plaza Hotel after work, and I saw some of the main Watergate figures there. Since Trader Vics was downstairs which was one of Richard Nixon's favorite places, I wandered if he was around. His daughter and her new husband at the time were living near Gracie Mansion were a relative of mine also lived. However, I had a hard time making it to work by 10 A.M., so they laid me off, and I moved back to my parents house in Greenwich, where the CBS executive that got me the job also lived paying $200,000 a year property taxes. I did find out at the news stand at CBS, the www.nytimes.com sold out by 7 A.M. every morning, and Walter Cronkite who was up in www.nantucket.net sailing said a half hour evening broadcast was only two and a half columns of the New York Times. When I used Fred Von Mierers's apartment at 420 East 49th Street later that year until February 1975, I saw Walter Cronkite walking around the neighborhood on Sutton Place, where Fred later moved. Fred's godmother Helen Kress Williams from Manhattan and Oyster Bay, Long Island was a major stockholder in Proctor and Gamble, which owned all of the soap operas at CBS too. Dot Proctor was also a classmate at www.lakeforest.edu , and she was from Milton, Massachusetts where George H.W. Bush was also born.

04/16/23 Sunday 10:30 A.M.. I chatted with a relative. The only connections I had with the military in Manhattan were just a few. I once stayed with General Hurley's grandson at the Waldorf Towers. I met Donald Monroe who lived by Military Intelligence on Varick Street in Manhattan, and his father was a major at Fort Hood in Texas. I once had a Wall Street interview with General Pershing's grandson at a private club on Wall Street. I used to walk through the Waldorf Astoria Hotel a lot to warm up, and that was where General Macarthur's widow lived. My last room mate in Manhattan Julie Bolton had a father in law who was a Colonel in the Army in Atlanta. I did walk a lot and explore around, but as a civilian I was never in the United States Military, but at www.lakeforest.edu , the campus was near the Army Base Fort Sheridan in charge of recruiting for the Army and Great Lakes Naval Station which was also near by. Of course down in Key West, I was around all five forces and the same can be said for Nantucket. From what I know, the nearest military base to us in Greenwich, Connecticut is Fort Montgomery on the west side of the Military Academy at West Point. I have seen their military police during graduation, and they are quite large people, so they must afford to eat. However, they are probably too big to be front line military personnel, since being that large, they do not move around easily. I will now go outside again. CIO

I then drove down to the Board of Education Veterans Monument Parking lot, and I ate the sandwiches there viewing the tulips for a long time. I sat out for a long time. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I put $20 on on my Starbucks card. I bought a medium Veranda blend with Splenda sweetener and almond milk, and I drank it front of the Senior and the Arts Center. I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue, and I toured the store. I sat out in the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park across the street. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought two 13 ounce Marie Callender chicken sesame bowls for $3 each, two 8 ounce Cabot Seriously Sharp Vermont Extra Sharp cheese for $2 each, and two 48 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3.49 each for $17.08 total. I then returned home. I put away my groceries. I put the grey bag back in the car. I filed this report. I will now go outside and drink a decaf coffee. All quiet on the Western Front. CIO

Sometime soon the tulips will come up at the World War One Monument, but not yet. I sat out for a while longer. I then returned home, and I drank a brewed coffee outside.

In the periods that I lived in Manhattan, I learned there were hospitals on the East from 23rd Street to 79th Street. Also on the upper west side, there was Roosevelt Hospital and Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital and in Greenwich Village, there was St. Vincent's Hospital, and there was also the smaller Beekman Hospital downtown. Thus there are quite a few medical people awake at night in Manhattan, as if one did not know.

04/15/23 Saturday 3:35 A.M.. When I first graduated from www.lakeforest.edu in the fall of 1972, I lived in Chicago next to a 40 story www.ibm.com building and across the street near the Medina Temple Masonic headquarters was a vacant lot with fifty American Red Cross ambulances. I later moved to 31 East Elm Street in Chicago, but I could not get a job, so I came back East. Also from November 1980 to February 1982, when I used Julie Bolton's apartment at 315 West 74th Street, it was near the American Red Cross headquarters in Manhattan which also had a lot of ambulances parked around it. One my last two friends that are still active are a doctor and a nurse that are American Red Cross volunteers living down South having once lived in Manhattan. They volunteered in a tent full of body parts after "911", and suggested that I set up my situation room which I did. The Bush family here in Greenwich got involved in working with the Rockefeller family during World War II in the American Red Cross. Also when I was in Athens, Greece in the Spring of 1972 with a relative of the wealthy political Harriman family, he introduced me to the head of the International Red Cross from Switzerland that he knew that was going to Viet Nam to negotiate the release of prisoners of war. Also Ernest Hemingway the famous writer was a Red Cross ambulance driver in the Spanish revolution in the 1930s. Also Julie Bolton was the wife of a State Department software engineer stationed in Libya, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. She worked as the head of word processing in Cyrus Vance's law firm at Madison Avenue and 57th Street, but I am not sure if it was Cyrus Vance the former Secretary of State in the Carter Administration of Cyrus Vance Jr. who is now the Head District Attorney in Manhattan.

I went out to the Acme grocery store at 160 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a 42 ounce Smart Balance spread for $9.69 and a five gallon bottle of Primo Filtered water with bottle return for $6.99 for $16.68 total. I then drove down Greenwich Avenue to the Board of Education Veterans Monument Parking lot, and I sat out for a while enjoying the red and yellow tulips which are out in bloom. I noticed this morning at the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park where the new coffee shop is going in two doors north of the park, they are also applying for a liquor permit at the new coffee shop. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a six pack of Stop and Shop multigrain English muffins for $2.99, a four pack of 8 ounce sugar free Chaboni strawberry yogurt for $4, and two 13 ounce Marie Callender Mac and Cheese bowls for $3 each for $12.99 total. I then returned home. I used my little folding cart to bring up the 42 pound bottle of water, and I put the other food away. 04/14/23 Friday 6:20 A.M.. Nobody in morning on Greenwich Avenue likes to network with night owls from the night before. I guess they are all venturing out on their first cup of coffee, when I just now had my fifth cup of coffee. It sort of makes me wander how many people are awake at night and in the early morning hours. CitiBank used to advertise the City New sleeps, and there are a million people awake at night in nearby Manhattan doing whatever they do. I suppose a lot of the night people are involved in maintenance, when the City is less busy. In the basement of the Seagram's Building on the north side of CitiBank, there used to be the French Coffee shop, the Brasserie, where at 4 A.M., one could see the Night Shift ending their day. I also would see the Foreign Currency Traders from CitiBank on their lunch breaks when they are trading around the world. I never noticed too much activity at night down on Wall Street though. I never covered the bright lights of Broadway in Times Square. Since Greenwich Village had younger students around www.nyu.edu , some of them would be awake at night and in the Early Morning Hours. I did learn some of the NYU students worked at Astor Place nearby processing American Express Credit Cards, so they could follow famous people in their travels around the World. The New York City Parking bureau used to be also at Astor Place. Back around 1973, the famous hotel at Astor Place where the Union Pacific Railroad Contract was signed collapsed from the vibrations of the underground subway running near it. I will now go downtown and hang out to see if anyone wants to add their two cents. CIO

I then drove down to the Board of Education Veterans Monument parking area, and I sat out for a while. There are a couple of red tulips beginning to come out. I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a six pack of Stop and Shop multigrain English muffins for $2.99, four 20 ounce cans of Stop and Shop pineapple chunks for $1.50 each, and four 8 ounce low fat Chaboni strawberry banana yogurts for $1 each and from the clearance section a two pack of apple turnovers for $1.74 for $16.72 total. The miss charged me for a regular apple turnover for $3.49 and did not charge me for one pineapple for $1.50, so they owe me a bit of money, which I will take car of later tomorrow. I returned home. I put away the groceries. I went outside, and I put the grey bag back in the car. I drank a brewed coffee. I have been doing this for so long, I sometimes wander what else that I could have done. Still I figure the younger generation have been around these devices most of their life, so they have their own sub culture. In the old days out on www.nantucket.net during the non tourist time, they used to make a bit of money making Light Ship baskets where the term "Underwater Basket Weaving" came from. I guess most Americans travel so much in their work careers today that nobody networks with people they once knew and left behind. Since I have a common name, nobody has ever networked with me on the internet since I got on the internet in 1992 with Netcom. I guess there is a regimented structure with professional computer people, where they do not network with independent computer people. Perhaps, since my family is from the Hinterlands in the Midwest, the overly educated East Coast techies do not share my same viewpoints. I did once work in Cambridge, Massachusetts next to www.mit.edu and www.harvard.edu as a research photographer at Polaroid, but in the summer of 1971, I learned to program with COBOL from www.ibm.com manuals that I was able to write a spread sheet with which had to be written on wide spread sheets that were entered into punch cards and fed into a IBM 360 main frame computer that Polaroid probably leased from IBM. It was interesting, but when I got back from Europe in June 1972 and came to Manhattan around the first of 1973, my computer skills were not needed, and I was only around fashion photography people trying to make a living doing test exposures with Polaroid film before using better film to make the final exposures. Polaroid did make a 4 inch by 5 inch instant positive and negative film that worked with a graphlex camera back to make high resolutions murals which I think Ansel Adams used for some of his photography. I guess since nobody drinks alcohol anymore, there are no cocktail lounges where people relax listening to vintage music that nobody remembers anymore.

I moved the bent oak chair from the near end of the oak dining table to underneath Dell computer setup on the left side of the primary work computer. From the Dell computer setup on the left side of the primary work computer, I moved the smaller mahogany chair to underneath the near end of the oak dining table. I moved some of the smaller items around both chairs around. I put the two seltzer bottles in the hallway, and I put the waste paper container on top of the air purifier in the hallway. I moved the pink cushion from the kitchen chair to the bent oak chair, and I put a thicker cushion on the kitchen chair. Thus there is a bit more room to move around the primary work computer and the Dell setup to its left.

I have done the best on my situation room with my meager disability income since I started working with personal computers around September 1989. I guess there is not much time for me to be a "Wharf Rat" anymore. Sometimes this time of year, when it warms up, we get rich people sailing north by our waterfront. On the Dell Optiplex 790 setup with Windows 10 Professional with the Microsoft Office Suite on the left side of the primary work computer, I moved the 21 inch AOC monitor from behind it on top of the Ricoh color laser printer to on top of the Dell unit. I removed the printer stand, and I moved to the Dell laser printer to behind it on top of the Ricoh color laser printer. Since it a tight fit sitting on its chair, it probably is only for smaller people. Still with the Microsoft Suite I put on it, it is a very good setup.

04/03/23 Monday 3:45 P.M.. My friend arrived. We went out for a drive. We drove down Greenwich Avenue and down Steamboat Road, and got out and viewed the waterfront from the pier. We then drove through Bruce Park and back uptown and up North Street for a ways. We drove down a side road with a big mansion that I had forgotten about. We then drove down North Street, and I stopped by the Greenwich Hospital, and I used the bathroom. They still have the fifty cent pay phone across from the bathrooms in the lobby of the Greenwich Hospital. We then drove to Kings Food in Old Greenwich, and my friend treated me to a roast beef sandwich with mayonnaise on a Kaiser roll for $9.99. We then drove out to the southwest picnic area at Tod's Point, and we ate our sandwiches there. I used the port-a-potty there. We then returned back to my apartment, and I showed my friend the recent changes in about nine years, since he last visited. We had a cup of coffee outside. I will now go outside again. CIO

I went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought two 48 ounce Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice for $3.49 each, a six pack of Stop and Shop multigrain English muffins for $2.99, a 10 filet pack of Gorton's frozen fish filets for $6.74 and a bag of frozen hand cut Idaho French fries for $5.59 for $22.40 total. I then returned home, and I put away my groceries. I put the grey bag back in the car, and I drank a brewed coffee outside. I filed this report. I will now go outside again. CIO

I took a microwave proof pot with lid, and I added a 16 ounce can of B&M baked beans with four diagonally cut Oscar Meyer Angus beef franks, and I seasoned it with Italian seasoning, Lowry's seasoned salt, garlic powder, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, and McCormick's steak seasoning, and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Frank's hot sauce, and I mixed it all together. I then microwaved it for seven minutes on 60% power, and I will eat half of it with a 12 ounce glass of www.coke.com Zero Sugar. CIO

There is a big roast beef wrap at the Acme grocery store for $7.99 and tax, and one can eat it in the Greenwich Common. For hungry people a pint of potato salad is about $5.99 at both stores.
The prepared sandwiches at the Stop and Shop are just a lot of bread.
