Note:<888> 11/30/06 Thursday 11:45 P.M.:   I adjusted the monitor settings on the primary and the server computer with the monitor control buttons.    I changed the server monitors from 80 MHz to 100 MHz, so it is sharper.    I opened up the package of four boneless chicken breasts, and I put two of them in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I then rinsed off the other two underneath cold water, and I dried them with a couple of paper towels.   I then put them on a dinner plate, and I rubbed each side with olive oil, and I also spread a layer of Progresso Italian seasoned bread crumbs on them as thick as one can put them on without them falling off.  I rubbed a little bit of olive oil in a Pyrex pie baking dish, and I placed the two breaded boneless chicken breasts in it.   I put them in the Farberware convection oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.   I made up a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe which I also added a little bit of chicken bouillon powder to.   I also put a quarter cub of water in a Revere pot with lid, and I put in a 10 ounce package of Birds Eye frozen spinach, and I brought it to a boil over high electric burner heat, and I then let it simmer for 10 minutes over medium electric burner heat.  Once all of the items were done, I put one of the cooked breaded boneless chicken breasts on a dinner plate with half of the rice, and I put the other cooked chicken breast in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator, and I also put the other half of the steamed rice in the refrigerator in a Rubbermaid container.   I put half of the spinach in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil, and I put the other half in a small Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I ate it all with a 50% to 50% mixture of iced tea and cold filtered water.   I filled up the Brita water container in the refrigerator.   I washed the dishes.   I put a copy of the Microsoft Money 2006 November 2006 Income and Expense report in an envelope with a stamp, and I went downstairs, and I mailed it in the mail room to a relative, and I threw out the garbage.   Earlier I put the tea in the refrigerator to become iced tea.   I will now go through my email.  I have also been advised that I probably do not need to take 10 mg. of Lipitor once a day anymore, so I will not be taking it.   The doctor whom advised me was not an internal medicine doctor, but he seemed to think it would not be necessary.   CIO 

Note:<888> 11/30/06 Thursday 9:15 P.M.:   I made an executive decision.   I had just enough money at the end of the month with the dollar bill www.gop.com had sent me a couple months ago, and I went over to Radio Shack in Cos Cob, and I bought a RadioShack.com - Home Entertainment: Accessories: Video accessories: Selectors & switches: High Isolation A/B Switch for $11.99 plus .72 tax for $12.71 total.   I then sat out briefly downtown.  I then returned home.    I went through the spare parts on the bottom of the hallway sweater closet floor, and I found a 6 foot white coaxial cable, a 15 inch gold coaxial cable, and a 6 inch coaxial cable.   I took the heavy three foot coaxial cable off the Epox computer, and I installed the 6 foot white coaxial cable.   I used the heavy 3 foot coaxial cable to connect the 4 way gold bidirectional splitter to the A port for the A/B switch and I connected the 15 inch gold coaxial cable from the cable box out to the B port of the A/B switch.   I connected the 6 foot gold cable that connects to the Leadtek TV card on the server to the out port on the A/B switch.   I placed the A/B switch on the right front of the cable box.   Thus switch A is the regular cablevision analog feed and switch B is the output from the Digital cable box, so with the Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert  Welcome to Leadtek Research Inc. WinFast TV2000 XP Expert  or the Leadtek TV2000XP/EXPERT TV/FM Tuner Card, REMOTE - Retail at Newegg.com TV card on the Server, I can switch which of the two TV inputs are used with the WinFast PVR TV viewer.  In other words, I can switch all of the channels on the Digital Cable box with the Digital Cable box remote control with the Leadtek TV card set to channel 3 on Port B, or all of the analog channels on the Cablevision system which are on Port A which show up in the WinFast PVR TV viewer in Channel Surf mode.   With the good quality cables that I have used in the setup, I have perfect picture quality on the smaller frame set, but there is less resolution on the full screen mode.  I printed out my monthly Microsoft Money 2006 income and expense report.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/30/06 Thursday 5:35 P.M.:   I need to get one of these RadioShack.com - Home Entertainment: Accessories: Video accessories: Selectors & switches: High Isolation A/B Switch , so I can switch input from either the cable box or the direct cable into the Leadtec TV card in the server, so I can select between TV signals on the server.  I also would need three gold short about three to six foot coaxial cables to hook it up.   With the regular analog TV signal without the box, one can view all of the analog TV channels simultaneously which is a nice feature, where with the Cable box signal one sets it to Channel 3 and switches the channels with the Cable Remote.   I noticed on the Leadtec TV card box, it says it is only analog and not digital too, but the installation disk also comes with a digital viewer.   CIO   

Note:<888> 11/30/06 Thursday 5:05 P.M.:   After the last message, I ate half of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips.    I went to bed, and I was awake at noon.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I showered, and I cleaned up.   I put the old Lexmark X85 scanner, copier, and printer outside by the dumpster.    I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then went to my usual Thursday 3 P.M. appointment.   I returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor.   I am making up a batch of Formula One http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .  I ate the other half of the 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips.   CIO    

Note:<888> 11/30/06 Thursday 4:05 A.M.:   I put in one of the new 12 inch single IDE cables in the server attached to the 160 gigabyte 2 year old Maxtor hard drive that is the first hard drive and only IDE hard drive, and the Maxtor hard drive was used for the backup drive previously on the primary computer, so hopefully it will last longer.   I changed the CMOS settings on the server by setting them to "Optimal", and then in the CMOS power settings, I selected "S1" instead of "S2", and a few other minor settings for my configuration.   I was able to do a Vista beta 2 RC2 build 5744 Complete PC backup of the Server from the first hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.   The server seems to be staple now, and it has not rebooted.   I also put back in the PNY 512 meg. PC3200 memory chip back in the server, so it now has 1 gigabyte of memory and the Epox backup computer had 512 megs. of 266 MHz memory.  I also put in the new red light bar set in the Epox backup computer, and I left the light switch, so the lights come on when one turns on the Epox computer, and I have a spare light tube from the old set to use if I need it in the server.   I disconnected the Lexmark X85 scanner printer, and I will donate it or dump it.  It has empty ink cartridges, and it is not needed connected to the server.   I hooked up the Visioneer 4400 scanner to the server, and I installed its software.   It sits just to the right of the primary computer, but is connected to the server, and it turns on with the scanner button on the control panel of the primary computer.  I connected the Cable Box to the lower left control panel switch, so it can be turned off, but it will be left turned on with it set at Bypass with the remotes in front of it to turn it on for the TV video on the server.  I put the cable box on top of the Visioneer 4400 scanner, so the cable box has to be moved on top of the Lexmark E238 laser printer, if one needs to use the scanner.   I have the server back up and running again.  I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.   I have a 3 P.M. appointment today.   I will eat some Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with iced tea before going to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 10:30 P.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I went by the ATM machine at Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then went by CVS.  I then went further down Greenwich Avenue, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area, and I also walked over to the Greenwich Library, and I chatted with a staff member and a regular patron.   There was a minor fender bender  across from the Greenwich Avenue movie theatre.   I stopped by CVS again during my walk.   I also stopped by the Senior and the Arts center to use the bathroom.   I gave a couple of kids cigarettes whom were in need of a smoke.   I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road.   I guess it is no longer Muppet Land down there anymore.   I think www.disney.com bought the Muppets.   I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a package of four boneless Amick Farms AmickFarms chicken breasts at $1.69 a pound for $6.34.   I then returned home, and I chatted with a relative.   I had to restart the server, since it had turned off again.   Perhaps, I do not have the CMOS power settings set right, but it has run continually in the past without any problems.    CIO

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 6:10 P.M.:   I microwaved a Stouffer's 10.5 ounce meat lasagna, which I put a few tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese on along with a few dashes of parsley, and I ate it all with a glass of ice tea.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go out shortly after that.   I have already cleaned up today.   CIO 

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 5:40 P.M.:  The round 12 inch IDE cable will now fit in the Bytecc enclosure, so I left the flat IDE cable.   I will not install the new light kit, but I will keep it as a spare for the server.   The Epox is underneath the small brass and glass end tables, so it does not need two lights, and the one light in it is enough.     

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 5:10 P.M.:   I moved the Cable box out of the bedroom, and I put it on top of the Visioneer 7200 scanner in between the two computers, and I hooked it up to the LeadTek TV card with the longer gold coaxial cable that I took off the primary computer.   I used the a shorter coaxial cable to hook up the Epox computer to its TV card, and I took the coaxial cable from there, and I hooked it up to the primary computer.    Thus if one sets the LeadTek TV card to channel 3, one gets all of the channels on Optimum Digital television including the Bloomberg report for business types.   I have not been watching the Turner movie channel in the bedroom recently, so I can go without the cable box in the bedroom for now.  The Leadtek and Cable box remote controls sit on the Visioneer scanner in front of the cable box.  One can put the server television screen on its right monitor, while one uses the left monitor for the internet.   I received my order from www.jab-tech.com about 4:15 P.M.   I put the box with the cables and floppy drive on top of the other parts to the right of the Orion television in the bedroom.   I will now put one of the 12 inch round cables in the Bytecc external driver enclosure, so it has been ventilation.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 3:35 P.M.:  The Leadtek TV card has a surf feature that shows all of you analog TV channels in small pictures in the Surf feature, so it is easy to select between channels.   For future use, it also has digital capability which might work with the cable system when they gradually shift from analog to digital.  I installed its Digital Television program, which if I hooked up the Digital Cable box might plays its chanels one at a time.   One of my neighbors whom moved to another retirement home is being moved out, so there is another vacant apartment in my part of the building.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/29/06 Wednesday 12:55 A.M.:   I might have fixed the problem I was having with the server rebooting.   I had it set in the CMOS for Power Saving Settings for ASPC to S3 instead of S1.   This might have caused the problem with the server shutting down or rebooting.   I have it restored and reconfigured, and I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive, and I will shortly do an XP Pro ASR backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.  For some odd reason in the process of the most recent trouble, I lost the contents of my second hard drive with the server files and other backups, so I had to restore them from another backup.   It is the second time it happened today.   Earlier I thought it might have been because when I tried to do a new XP install to restore an ASR backup, its partitioning function did not recognize the 300 gigabyte Seagate drive, instead I might have messed it up with the XP partitioning.   Needless to say with the three XP Pro primary computer ASR backups gone from the server second hard drive that I had saved, there is a lot more space left on it.   I will work a bit in Vista on the primary computer.   I am not sure whether I will start the server this morning or not.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/28/06 Tuesday 11:25 P.M.:   I tried to install the Leadtek TV card on the primary computer, but it does not work with Vista.   Instead, I put the Hauppauge TV card from the server in the primary computer, which is the same as the one that I put in the Epox computer from the primary computer, and I put the Leadtek TV card in the server, and its software.   It works just fine, and it has a remote control that I put on the right hand side of the keyboard by the Panasonic cordless telephone.    Possibly I am being hacked, so I have turned off the server.   I had a key startup file on the server corrupted, so I had to restore and configure the Vista Complete PC backup before installing the TV card software.   I chatted with a relative and a friend.   I cut the remaining asparagus into 1.5 inch lengths with angle cuts without the stalks, and I put them in a plastic microwave proof pot with lid, and I covered them with water, and I cooked them on two vegetable cycles in the microwave.    I drained off the water, and I put them in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil on them.   I also took the remaining 1/2 inch thick slice of Boars Head baked white meat turkey breast, and I put it on a microwave proof plate with the remaining about 2 cups of stuffing, and I put the remaining 6 ounces of Heinz fat free turkey gravy on the stuffing and turkey, and I put a microwave proof plate lid over the plate, and I microwaved the meal on one vegetable cycle.  I put the hot plate on another plate, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I will do a complete PC backup of the server shortly.   CIO 

Note:<888> 11/28/06 Tuesday 3:45 P.M.:  I only had orange juice and vitamins and supplements for breakfast.    I was able to isolate the problem with the server, and the PNY 512 meg. memory module I put in it from the primary computer did not work in it properly, although I thought it should.   I put the PNY 512 meg. memory module in the Epox computer, so the Epox computer has 1 gigabyte of memory now.  I need to put a better TV coaxial cable on it for clearer reception on the TV card when I have the funds.   I took out one of the 521 megabyte CompUSA 3200 memory chips from the primary computer, and I put it in the server, and the server now works just fine.   In trying to restore a backup on the server, I mistakenly eliminated the partition on my second hard drive on the server, but I am was able to restore the Vista PC restore backup from the Bytecc external hard drive.   I updated the few changed files from the primary computer to the server.   I either need to transfer or download the Vista Final release 64 bit back to the server hard drives, so I have it in reserve for burning on DVD with Nero 6.6.  Basically the problem I had in restoring the backups to the server was caused by the small USB 32 meg. pin drive attached to its hub, causing it be recognized as its primary drive preventing restore operations.   I now have to do a XP ASR backup of the server from the first hard drive to the second hard drive, and I also have to do a Vista beta 2 RC2 build 5744 Complete PC backup of the server from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I lost my old primary computer XP ASR backups that I had stored on the server, but I still have one on an external hard drive in case I need to restore it to the primary computer.   I went downstairs, and I picked my mail.   I also received the new TV card about 2:45 P.M., and I will install it after I have something to eat and start the backups of the server.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/27/06 Monday 10:15 P.M.:   The TV card did not arrived.  According to UPS, they tried to make a delivery at 5:53 P.M., but I was sitting outside, and there was no UPS truck that attempted to make a delivery and no UPS attempted delivery slip of paper was left.    Thus from what I can tell,  UPS actually never arrived.   I chatted with some neighbors.   I chatted with UPS, and they said they would attempt to make a delivery tomorrow.   I installed the Hauppauge TV card from the primary computer into the Epox computer and configured it.   I had an extra cable to connect the TV card to the video card, so it also has sound.   I also did another XP ASR backup of the Epox computer from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   It seems possibly that some hackers might be attacking my systems for unknown reason, so for now I will leave the server turned off, and the other systems off line and turned off.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.   Tomorrow is another day.   I also chatted with two relatives.   I will eat three scoops of Maple Walnut ice cream before going to bed.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/27/06 Monday 4:45 P.M.:   I put an inch of water in a three quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid, and I steamed 1.5 cups of baby carrots and asparagus sliced on an angle 1.5 inches long with the dry stalks removed on medium high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.   I put the vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil.   I also put two 3/8th inch thick slices of Boar's Head baked white turkey breast meat on  a plate with one half of the remaining stuffing about two cups, and I put one half of a 12 ounce jar of Heinz low fat turkey gravy on the dressing and turkey, and I refrigerated the remaining gravy in the jar.   I put a plate microwave lid on the plate, and I microwaved it for one vegetable cycle, and I put the hot plate on a another dinner plate, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/27/06 Monday 2:35 P.M.:   I got out my Christmas wreath, and I hung it on the outside of the front door.   I moved the old Toshiba laptop computer where it faces the long green sofa on the near end of the brass and glass coffee table.   I took out the small teak stand from underneath one of the miniature palms, and I set it on the near down sofa side of the brass and glass coffee table, and I put my miniature artificial decorated Christmas tree on it.   I hooked up the lights to it to an extension cord plugged into Auxiliary 2 switch on the Epox computer power control panel, so by turning on and off that switch, one turns on and off the Christmas tree lights.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/27/06 Monday 2:05 P.M.:   I had already used the spare cable behind the bureau in the bedroom to hook up the 14 inch Panasonic television in the bathroom.    I found a spare 8 foot TV coaxial cable in the sweater closet in the hallway, and I have it hooked up to the two way splitter by the far end of the long green sofa, with it leading to the Epox backup computer for when I install the TV card in it.   I took another 3 foot TV coaxial cable, and I used it to hook up the TV card to the server.   I took the longer TV coaxial cable off the server, and I have it set to be hooked up as the second cable to Leadtech TV card when it arrives.   The second cable may not have as good as quality as necessary, so I might have to replace it in the future when I have funds.   It is then end of the month, and I am down to minimal funds, so I am just staying home doing some routine maintenance.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/26/06 Sunday 11:55 P.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I chatted with some  other residents.   I also walked over to Whole Foods, and I toured their store.   They have cases of www.perrier.com on display in the front of their store, so somebody else in town must stock up on it besides me.   I said hello to a dog walker with a herding dog from Australia.   I completed my walk and I sat out for a while.   I drove down by the waterfront, and I took the time out to walk out onto the pier, and I observed the Sunday diners at the Indian Harbor Yacht club enjoying the buffet.   Since I am not a nautical type they never take much notice of me, but the http://www.geocities.com/mike2scott2006/Greenwich-Country-Club.jpg is more comfortable for land lubber types whom do not mind walking if they can afford it.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.43.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a relative.   I worked on the primary computer, and it seems to be running just fine.   To beef up the primary computer, I took one of the 512 megabyte memory chips out, and I exchanged it with the 1 gigabyte memory chip from the server, so the primary computer now has 2 gigabytes of memory, and the server which does not need much memory has 512 megabytes of memory.   I really can not afford to spend any more money on computer parts anytime soon, because I have fixed expenses and in addition I have a $80 payment for my Connecticut automobile registration coming up soon and a $30 payment to renew my internet registration domain.   The primary computer with Vista seems to be running even better with the extra memory.   CIO   

Note:<888> 11/26/06 Sunday 5:15 P.M.:   I showered, and I cleaned up.  I finished doing the Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I also did a Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.    The second backup took a bit of time, since the hard drive setting was "Optimize for Quick Removal" instead of "Optimize for Performance".   Also when doing an external backup, I still need to have the D-Link USB power hub disconnected and not just turned off.    I chatted with a relative.   I ate 20 Ritz crackers with .75 inch by 1/8th inch by 1 inch slices of Swiss cheese on them.   I also ate a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips with some iced tea.   I rested for an hour and a half.   I changed the power settings, so the computer does not power down and standby, because it does not come out of standby in Vista.   It is suppose to be raining out, so I do not know whether I will go out or not.   However, I will shut down the computer, and I will try to go out, since it is warm enough out that if it is not raining too heavily, I can take a walk with an umbrella.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/26/06 Sunday 10:55 A.M.:   I had a problem trying to get the Plantronics headset working.  I tried looking at the Microsoft story linked from this page Technology News, Science News : Technology & Science News Articles , and the Microsoft story page caused my Vista Internet Explorer to crash.   They system started behaving erratically, so I rebooted the system, and I restored the Vista Complete PC backup.   I then shut down the system, and I went to bed about 11 P.M..  I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.   I downloaded and installed the 30 day demo of Norton Internet Security 2007 for Vista Norton Internet Security: Download for Vista 30 day demo - Symantec Corp. .   I decided not to use the D-Link Hub LAN connection, since using a USB Hub LAN connection might cause security problems possibly in terms of intruders.   I did install the Plantronics DSP500 headset on the D-Link powered hub, but the Plantronics headset would not work.   I tried installing the Plantronics software for XP, but the drivers were the same.   I finally got the Plantronics DSP500 headset working by selecting in Vista the "Recording Devices" applet, and for the Plantronics DSP500 headset, I selected to "Restored Defaults", and the Plantronics DSP500 headset started working properly again.  I can turn off and on the D-Link powered hub with a control panel switch, so I currently have the Plantronics DSP 500 headset turned off by turning off the USB power hub switch on the control panel.   I just finished up a Norton Internet Security 2007 Complete PC scan, and it finished checking a million files without any problems.   I will now do another Complete PC backup of the entire Vista System from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.    The Vista system seems to be running fine again.  In the CMOS, I also enabled "Spread Spectrum" again.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.    CIO  

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 8:05 P.M.:   I had the computer reboot again, and I just remember I had changed a CMOS setting for ACPI from S1 to S3, so I changed it back to S1.   I also disabled "Spread Spectrum" which used to be suggested for XP.   I also changed my screen saver to a simpler 3D test screen saver which instead of saying "Vista tm" says "Michael Louis Scott" in Vladimir script.   Funny thing about the text for the screen saver, there is only room enough for 19 letters and spaces in "Michael Louis Scott".    

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 7:25 P.M.:   I had a bit of trouble in sending out my weekly notes in that the multiple part note that I send to www.whitehouse.gov , when I cut and paste the text into the note in several parts, the send button would not work for some odd reason.   I got around this by cutting and pasting the text from the original document as opposed to my copy of the full email I also send to myself.   I chatted with a friend about the Harriman family security in this area, and I suggested that we should do like they did when I lived in Europe and just having friendly strolling machine gunners working the public places, and that would tend to keep crime down in this area.   I guess that would be the same as Military Security which we have used in this area many times before.   Trust me with 300 million people in the United States of America, there is no shortage of personnel.  Of course after 24 years on a night schedule in this area, it more like nobody is out but the local astronomy club which is not very active since the skies tend to be not too clear in this area at night with all of the pollution and sea haze.   Maybe if one of the Rockefellers took up astronomy they could raise the price of gasoline to $20 a gallon, so the night skies would be a lot clearer in this area.   I went out, and I chatted with a British neighbor whom is very enthusiastic about the Opera.   Having lived around the New York Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center the Metropolitan Opera and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. and the Opera in Firenze, Italia, I frequently get tired of Loud Mouth Italians whom think they know it all, particularly since this is not their local turf.  I went downstairs, and I checked the mail, and I chatted with a German neighbor.   I then returned to my apartment.   While I was out the primary computer had rebooted, and I suspected the D-Link powered USB 1.0 hub might be the problem, so I disconnected it and its third LAN, and I powered it down.   I connected the Plantronics DSP500 headset to the USB 2.0 four port hub on the lower left side of the keyboard.   Frequently older computer accessories can cause problems with newer operating systems.   Back to some regular computer work.   Besides maintaining my various computer equipment items, I have other routine house keeping chores and lifestyle activities I like to pursue.   Usually when the children are out of school the town changes a little bit, but since after their short vacations, the town tends to get back to normal.  In other words the local youth hanging out downtown are not experts in this area, since frequently many of them attend private schools outside of this area.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 4:10 P.M.:  While I ate my meal, I also did a Vista Complete PC backup of the primary computer to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I had a problem backing it up to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I had to turn off and disconnect the USB cable from the D-Link powered hub at the terminal to the D-Link USB hub for the Maxtor external hard drive to do the Complete PC backup.    I chatted with a relative.    I will now send out my weekly notes.   The primary computer running the operating system of the final release of Vista seems to be running just fine, and there are no problems with the Vista operating system that I have not been able to trouble shoot.  CIO  

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 2:20 P.M.:   In Vista, I was able to fix the "Recording Devices" applet that when I opened it, it cause the computer system to crash.   The problem was NOT caused by the Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value card or its drivers.   It was caused by the Pinnacle USB video capture device.    I left the cable from the primary computer video card to the video cable leading to the Sony television which can be used as a remote monitor.   The sound to it is connected to the apartment stereo system through a cable that connects together behind the minolta laser printer, but currently that cable is not connected up to the speaker system, but it is adjacent to the 6.1 primary speaker with the audio jack ready to be plugged in if one wanted to demo Vista on the Sony television as a monitor.  I still have my remote mouse, but I have not check the batteries in it recently, and currently its base station is turned off.    I organized my top left living room desk drawer, so the various small spare parts and disk batteries are better organized in small plastic ziplock bags.   I have a lot of old worn out disk batteries that I have save and some that are only partially used.   I installed the Vista updates.  I also reinstalled the D-Link USB powered hub with LAN on the primary computer, and I hooked up a third LAN cable to it, and I have the Plantronics DSP500  headset hooked up to it which works better with a powered USB hub, and I also hooked up the SmartCard reader to it also.   I will now do another Complete PC backup while I eat the same left over turkey meal that I had earlier today.    CIO   

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 11:05 A.M.:   I worked with http://mikelouisscott.com/visbeta.htm .   I chatted with a relative.   Basically once we have out computers upgraded with Vista, we still have to get back to our normal routines.   I would assume the problem with the Creative Live Audigy 2 Value card with Vista final release will be solved in January 2007, when Creative comes out with new drivers.   The copy of Vista Final Release that I am using was made available to developers and to beta testers in return for all of the time the beta testers spent testing Vista over the last 15 months, so in effect we are still beta testing it, but that is always the way it is with new operating systems.   Since I have upgraded my primary computer hardware for Vista over the last 15 months, I am more Vista ready than some of the other computer home users.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 7:50 A.M.:   I rested until 7 A.M..   I ate 1/5th piece of pumpkin pie with some sugar free cool whip on it with a glass of iced tea.   What has me confused is on my primary computer two copies of the Vista Final release X86 and a copy of the Vista Final release X64 showed up on my computer in the Vista Final release download file where I have my copies of the downloads, and they are the same size as my downloads.   The question is how they got there.   According to the file properties they were created on the hard drive around Wednesday November 22, 2006 around 4:30 P.M. while I would have been working on the computer configuring Vista final release.   They start with "FTMCF" and "FTMD0" and "FTMD6", and they have *.tmp extensions, but they are the same size as the two *.iso files that I downloaded.   It is all sort of mysterious.   It is like somebody beamed down the files from the Starship Enterprize while I was working on configuring Vista Final release.   Maybe Vista has some other features we are unaware of.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/25/06 Saturday 1:20 A.M.:   I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.   I put two 1/4 inch thick slices of the Boars Head baked sliced turkey on a microwave proof dinner plate with each slice on top of each other along with about 3 ounces of the Heinz fat free turkey gravy with mushrooms, and I put about 1.5 cups of the stuffing mixture on the plate with about 3/4 of a cup of the Near East long grain and wild rice mixture, and I put a microwave proof lid on the plate, and I put it in the microwave oven.   I then put an inch of water in a 3 quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid and about 1.5 cups of baby carrots and asparagus sliced on an angle without the dry stalk end, and I steamed them on medium to high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.   For the last 4 minutes, I ran the microwave oven on one vegetable cycle, and I put the hot dinner plate with the food on another plate, and I put the steamed vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I then washed the dishes.   I will now take a nap on the long green sofa, since I am a bit tired, since I was awake 28 hours yesterday, and a neighbor woke me up after 6 hours sleep today.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/24/06 Friday 9:45 P.M.:   I was awake at 6 P.M., when I got a bothersome call from a neighbor whom does not seem to believe that I am frequently on a night schedule.   I downloaded the 64 bit version of Vista, and I burned three copies of it along with another copy of the X86 version.   I burn them on the server which has Nero 6.6 on it, since I am not sure if Vista has *.iso to DVD burn capabilities or not.   I could look for an OEM version of Nero 7.0 which is suppose to work with Vista.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I did another Complete PC backup of the Vista C: drive to the second D: drive, so I have the 64 bit version in the backup.    I will now do some regular computer work, but first I might shower and clean up, so I feel a little bit better.   Now that the beta testing and new installation is done, it does not hurt to get back on a regular schedule and to maintain some of other one's other normal routines such as cleaning up every day.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/23/06 Thursday 10:30 P.M.:   I woke up at 8 A.M. this morning.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.    I tried to start up the Epox backup computer, but it would not start up.   It was not getting power to the control panel because the APC UPS supply needed to be reset by unplugging it and replugging it into power.   I then started up the Epox backup computer, and I installed the copy of Microsoft Windows XP Professional that I took off the primary computer.    I worked until 8 P.M. this evening installing programs and configuring it.   It runs just fine.   I am now doing a XP ASR backup to the Bytecc external hard drive from its first C: drive.   I will then do a XP ASR backup from the first internal hard drive to the second internal hard drive.   I have the Epox backup computer setup to work as a backup up server if I needed to use it for that purpose, and of course it is good for regular computer and internet work.    About 8 P.M. I started making Scott's Stuffing Recipie for Arnold Premium Stuffing and in the recipe I also used two cloves of chopped shallots.   I also made up a package of Near East long grain and wild rice at the same time per the recipe on the box, but I put in a tablespoon of olive oil instead of butter.   I put in an inch of water in a two quart Revere pot with steamer tray and lid, and I steamed 1.5 cups of asparagus that I cut the dry stalks off of and cut into 1.5 inch slices on a diagonal along with baby carrots.   I steamed them for 15 minutes over medium high electric burner heat, and I put them in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil.   I also opened a 12 ounce jar of Heinz low fat turkey gravy, and I added 1/3 of a 10 ounce box of mushrooms that I sliced into 1/8th inch thick slices, and I simmer it over medium to low electric heat while doing the other cooking.   I cut two 3/8 inch thick slices of the Boars Head baked turkey breast, and I put them on a microwave proof plate with lid, and at the end of the other cooking cycles, I microwaved the turkey for one minute.   I put the Heinz turkey and mushroom low fat gravy on the turkey along with a 1/3rd of the Near East rice mixture and a about 2 cups of the stuffing on a dinner plate.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I put the remaining cooked food in Rubbermaid containers in the refrigerator.   I washed the dishes and pots.   I threw out the garbage, and I picked up the mail, and I said hello to a neighbor and his visiting family.   I will now do some regular computer work for a while.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/22/06 Wednesday 1:05 A.M.:   I went out after the last message.  I went by the Shell Station on West Putnam Avenue for a minor currency transaction.   I needed to put some cash in my banking account to pay for the PCI TV card.   I then went by the Putnam Trust Bank of New York ATM machine on Mason Street.    I then went downtown, and I had a small amount of Prestone antifreeze left over in my antifreeze jug in the rear of the car, so I top of the coolant overflow tank, so the low coolant light does not come on the dashboard anymore.   I also turned on the heat in the car.   Of course for the heat to work, the car has to be warmed up.   I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.   They are stringing the Holiday lights on Greenwich Avenue Shortage of cash dims Christmas light show - Greenwich Time .   After my walk, I sat out briefly.  I then drove down by the waterfront.   I then went by the Food Emporium just before closing, and I bought two 8 ounce sugar free Kraft Cool Whip topping containers for $1.99 each for $3.98 total.   I then returned home.   I have not turned on the heat in the apartment yet, but the various temperature gauges inside the apartment say it is 73.4 to 77 degrees fahrenheit inside the apartment, and the outside temperature outside my window is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but my Volvo said it was 32 degrees fahrenheit outside.   The pansies are still out at the veterans monument downtown.   I will now check my email, and I will do some regular internet work.  Usually at the end of the month, when I am low on funds I stay on a night schedule which is cheaper in this town.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/21/06 Tuesday 10:55 A.M.:   I have been so busy on tech maintenance, I do not think I have showered and cleaned up since this past Friday.   I will now shower and clean up.    I figure with all of the activity downtown with the children home from school before Thanksgiving, it is probably quite busy downtown, so I do not think I will try to venture out downtown today.   I will try to get my Thanksgiving meal around 7 A.M. tomorrow morning at the Stop and Shop, if they have any food left that I can afford.  It should be the usual as in past years.   I do have a frozen 32 ounce sliced turkey with gravy meal in the freezer and fresh vegetables, so I do not really need to do any shopping, but we will wait and see.   Time to clean up.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/21/06 Tuesday 8:25 A.M.:   I filled half of a gallon Revere pot with water, and I added dashes of sea salt and a little bit of olive oil, and I brought it to a boil, and I then boiled a 16 ounce box of Ronzoni vermicelli for 8 minutes, and I strained the water off through a colander placed in another pot.   I dumped the hot water from the pot down the bathroom sink drain to clean it out.  Before doing that I took a 10 inch stick proof frying pan, and I added a few tablespoons of olive oil, and I heated it over medium high electric heat, and once the olive oil was hot, I added one large peeled and diced onion and 7 ounces of chopped 91% lean ground sirloin that I had chopped some more, and I browned it all seasoning it with garlic pepper, Italian seasoning, and ground black pepper.  Once the meat was browned and the onions were blanched, I took the contents of a 26 ounce jar of Tottorusso tomato marinara sauce, and  I put half of the contents back in the jar in a plastic microwave proof pot with lid along with half of the browned meat and onions, and I mixed it all together, and I put the other half of the browned meat and onions in the tomato sauce jar, and I mixed it all together, I put it in the refrigerator, and I put the other half in a microwave proof pot with lid, and I heated it on 2 vegetable cycles in the General Electric microwave oven while the vermicelli was cooking.  I drained the vermicelli in a colander set in a larger pot, and I threw the hot water from the larger pot down the bathroom sink to clean out the shaving soap scum.    I put half of the cooked vermicelli in a flat Rubbermaid container with lid, and I put it in the refrigerator, and I put the other half on a dinner plate with the tomato  onion and meat sauce on top, and I added four tablespoons of grated parmesan, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I then washed the dishes.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/21/06 Tuesday 6:10 A.M.:   I was awake at 11:30 P.M..  I started a XP ASR backup from the primary computer XP first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I also started an XP ASR backup from the server computer first hard drive to the second hard drive.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I tested the Bytecc 830 U2 external hard drive on the server, and it was not recognized.   I tried changing the hard drive from Cable Select to Master and Slave without success.   I finally replaced the small IDE cable that came with the Bytecc 830 U2 external enclosure with a standard IDE cable which just fits into the case, and it does restrict air flow a bit, but the Bytecc external enclosure with the Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drive set at Cable Select was recognized by the Server running on XP after I uninstalled the driver that it had first selected earlier, and the Bytecc 830 U2 external enclosure with the Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drive works just fine.   I did a ASR backup from the server in XP of the first XP hard drive to the Bytecc external hard drive.   I am now doing a Vista Complete PC backup of the server to the Bytecc external hard drive.    I am also doing a backup of the bedroom Dell L1000R computer to the Maxtor external hard drive which takes longer since it is only USB 1.0.   I will start the server, once I complete the Vista Complete PC backup.   I am making up a batch of Formula One http://mikelouisscott.com/icetea.htm .   All computer systems seem to be running just fine.   I guess once I get the product activation key for Vista final release, I will go ahead and install and configure it on the primary computer, and go without XP on the primary computer.  The Norton Symantec programs do not work with it, but I can go without them for the Vista security features.   Also the Nero 6.6 program does not work with it, so I would not be able to burn DVD *.iso files from the primary computer, but now that Vista beta testing is over that does not matter.   Also I might be able to do that with Vista.  Also Nero 6.6 works on the server.   I probably will not install my Favorites, since most of them are quite dated and would slow up Internet Explorer, just a few of them, and that would be it.  I still have them backed up.  I am not sure whether I need to install the Computer Associates AntiVirus program for Vista, but I guess I could, since I have a copy good for about 8 months.  Rhapsody from www.optonline.net does not work with it.  However, once Vista is released at the end of January, most of the problems will be fixed.    My Visioneer 4400 USB scanner I do not think will work with it, but my Lexmark X1185 printer and scanner does work with it, but not its program.   I will now do some regular computer work.  At the moment free Real does not work with it either.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/20/06 Monday 11:50 A.M.:   I microwaved and ate a 15.5 ounce package of Stouffer's stuffed peppers, which I ate with a glass of iced tea.   The ASR backup failed on the primary computer.   I finally figured out it was a failing IDE controller on the motherboard.   I had a spare identical one, but it did not have SATA capability.   The defective one was bought June 2005.   The spare looks like it was never used.   I installed it, and I removed the Seagate 320 gigabyte SATA hard drive, which I will put in the server as the second hard drive.   I will use the old server Maxtor IDE hard drive for the external hard drive, which I believe is suppose to arrive today.  I am a bit tired, and I am suppose to have a 4 P.M. appointment this afternoon, which I will probably cancel.   I will now do the primary computer Microsoft Windows XP Professional Automatic System Recovery backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   This should take about an hour and a half if all goes well.  I will clean up my work area, and I will relax.  Current configuration of computers http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm .   CIO 

Note:<888> 11/20/06 Monday 7:05 A.M.:   I worked with http://mikelouisscott.com/visbeta.htm .  I also put a new Cobra IDE hard drive cable on the primary computer IDE0 connection.   I had a few freezes on the computer, but they seems to be on transferring larger files, which my slower computer might not handle with the larger hard drives.   I have the second two hard drives available for backups, since there are no working copies of Vista on the primary computer, but I have the beta copy on the server in another partition if I rebooted it.   I will now make an XP Professional Automatic System Recovery backup of the XP drive to the new backup hard drive, so I have the current configuration backed up.   CIO   

Note:<888> 11/19/06 Sunday 8:05 P.M.:  To make a long list of technical problems short.   I tried to install the Vista final release on my primary computer, and I was not able to get it to install properly.   After a long period of troubleshooting the problem might have been my Gigabyte motherboard bios which after I reflashed the problems seemed to go away.  I have reconfigured the primary and server computers http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm , with the three new hard drives in the primary computer, and I have the two old Maxtor hard drives now in the server computer.   Both systems seem to be running fine now.   On the primary computer I have XP on the first hard drive.   I will shortly try to install Vista final release on the second hard drive.   I will use the third hard drive on the primary computer for backups.  Since the last message, I have had 2 three hour naps and one 5 hour nap.   I have only had time to eat a jar of dry roasted peanuts and two helpings of three scoops of coffee ice cream.   I will now try to install Vista Final Release on the second hard drive of my system, and I will eat breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.  I will also wash the dishes.  I will first chat with a relative.   CIO   

Note:<888> 11/17/06 Friday 9:45 P.M.:   I have the Vista Final Release X86 version downloaded.    I will now burn three copies to DVD.   I can install it either as a Vista new install in an equal size resized second partition on the new hard drive after I resize it keeping XP intact.   However, my copies of FrontPage 2002 and Office 2003 can only be activated on one partition.   I have 30 days to activate Vista in which time I should receive the product key.   I will be installing the Ultimate full install edition.   I also could install it as an upgrade over XP Professional that I have on my primary partition on the primary hard drive.   Since it is a fully license full install copy, I could use the hard drive that I took out of the primary computer which is still configured as the primary hard drive in the Epox backup computer with the XP configuration still installed, but Microsoft FrontPage 2002 and Office 2003 would not work on it.   I also have to do a Complete PC backup in Vista Beta 2 RC2 build 5744 to conserve my existing configuration in case I have a problem with an upgrade installation.   The other option is to do a new install, but I would have to save certain email and documents an other files most of which I have already saved on my backup drive.   I also have good XP Pro ASR backups.   My viewpoint is that I should install it as upgrade and take it from there.   However I also have to save a few files that have changed recently to the backup drive.   Thus depending on what happens, one might not hear from this web log for a while.    I left a message for a friend in Florida that from what I can tell the hurricane season http://mikelouisscott.com/weather.htm is over, but it is not officially over until the end of November.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/17/06 Friday 4:25 P.M.:  Earlier in the day, I ate the other half of the 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips.   I just ate three scoops of coffee ice cream.   Since my father's family has lived in the Western Hemisphere for close to 400 years, I know a bit about the western hemisphere other than what some of the other newer English speaking residents seem to know.   We all know football as they call it or soccer in the states is one of the world's most popular sports.    However, when one is in Spain or the Hispanic parts of the Americas another sport called "Bull Fighting" is also a very popular sport.   Generally bull fighters tend to be thin to dodge the bulls, but a successful bull fighter at the top of his sport can also be fairly wealthy since they tend to have an extremely large following.   In any case, once they make a lot of money, they tend to buy ranches and raise cattle, but depending on how they invested their money, they like a lot of other investors might be even more established that some of their followers realize.   I have never spoke Spanish, and I have never been in Mexico, but I have traveled briefly in Spain.   From what I can tell, when I lived down south their was a bit of an Hispanic influence, and even as a 7 year old boy, I spent many hours practicing with a Bull Whip that my father had given me.   Alas in all of the moves, I seem to have lost my Bull Whip, but I use to know how to Crack the Bull Whip which is very tricky to learn how to do.  When one Cracks a Bull Whip, it makes a loud snapping sound, sort of like a gun shot sound.  Of course any one that has watched American Westerns know what the sound of a Bull Whip sounds like.   From what I can tell, the Old World Hispanic culture has been summering here for many years, since it can be very hot down south in the summer.   I recall when we lived in New Canaan, Connecticut originally back in 1966, when I told my fellow classmates at Greenwich Country Day my family was moving to 1765 Passé De La Reforma in Mexico City to run a textile facility there for Chemstrand my father's employer at the time, instead while we were living in New Canaan, Connecticut I learned from their local press that the Mayor of Mexico City had a house in New Canaan, Connecticut.   When we returned from living in Boston and my graduation from college at www.lfc.edu I recall one of our neighbors on Cornelia Drive here in Greenwich had the family last name of Fox, but they also owned property in Mount Desert Island, Maine.   Alas since most everyone that I deal with speaks English, I do not have much of a chance to try to learn Spanish, and most of the Hispanic population around here seems to have learned a bit of English.   I guess if one needed somebody to speak Spanish with, there is a small restaurant here in Greenwich on Old Track Road near the used car lot for Griffin Ford, and it is called the "Box Car Cantina", so more than likely they might have some staff there that speaks Spanish.   I do not know whether they serve meals on Spanish hours, which would not be very profitable in this area, since the 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. commuter crowd do not tend to eat dinner after 10 P.M. such as they do in the warmer Spanish speaking countries.   From what I have seen of Spain, it mostly looks like one large ranch, since I road a train in Spain, I saw the country side, and it do not have many trees, and other than the cities, it is not too densely populated outside of the Cities.  However, the Cities are quite Majestic, and I saw a lot of the buildings in Barcelona, although I never left the train station in Madrid, and I did tour Malaga in the south besides Lanzarote in the Canaries.   From the buildings I saw in Barcelona, they were similar to the buildings that one sees on West End Avenue on the West Side of Manhattan.  Park Avenue might have looked like that at one time, but more than likely those style building were replaced with newer buildings.   In other words, the buildings on West End Avenue in Manhattan have more formidable stone work.   I recalled when I lived on West 74th Street, the building on the northwest side of West 74th Street and West End Avenue was called the "L'Esplanade" which seems like it might be a Spanish style name.  CIO   

Note:<888> 11/17/06 Friday 3:15 P.M.:   Yesterday, after the last message.   I then went out, and I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.   It has changed its layout recently.    It is now mostly women's designer clothes, and currently everything is 50% off.   They still are not taking donations.   I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.    I then returned home, and I ate three scoops of coffee ice cream, and then I went to bed.   I woke up at 5 A.M. this morning.   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made my bed.   I did my house cleaning and watering the plants.   I also cleaned the kitchen stove hood air filter, since it gets dirty from my cigarette smoke at that location, since I smoke in the old www.harvard.edu chair at that location with the kitchen stove fan turned on.   I also moved the small red oriental rug underneath the Harvard chair, so there is now room for the new rug which hopefully will come soon.   I called up www.floormall.com and they said they would email me tracking information on the new kitchen rug when it ships, and it is this rug that is in acrylic in the blue pattern in 5 foot 6 inches by 3 foot 6 inches in a rectangular pattern Hdyn-ya1lb Home Dynamix Area Rugs Yash Collection for $45.45 less 10% discount for placing a telephone order at 1-888-WEB-FLOORS , and they placed the order for a total of $40.90 with free shipping.   I went outside, and I threw out the garbage and old periodical literature.   I chatted with the regular building custodian and some neighbors.    I reheated the left over rice in the Rubbermaid container from yesterday on one microwave vegetable cycle, and I put an inch of water in a Revere 2   quart pot with steamer tray and lid, and I steamed for 15 minutes on medium high electric heat about a cup of baby carrots and sliced asparagus.   I put them in bowl with a little bit of olive oil.   I also put a little bit of olive oil in a small frying pan, and I put it on medium to medium high electric heat, and I cooked one of the remaining defrosted hamburgers for three minutes a side seasoning it with ground black pepper and garlic powder, and I put it on a English muffin with a little bit of Kraft Hickory smoked barbeque sauce, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I chatted with a relative.   I went out to get my mail, and I chatted with a neighbor, and I saw her newly born twin baby grandsons.    I guess she knows they grow up fast.    I took a nap for a little while, and I watched a bit of television.    I will now go through my email.   I also put a new Vanish borax blue toilet tablet in the toilet tank.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/16/06 Thursday 10:45 A.M.:   I have my usual 3 P.M. appointment this afternoon.   I prepared to microwave Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe , and I also added to the mixture one beef bouillon cube and two tablespoons of Kikkoman soy sauce.    I also put in an inch of water in a Revere two quart pot with lid and a steamer tray, and I added about 1.5 cups of baby carrots and one inch long angle cut asparagus.    One does not use the dry stalk part of the asparagus.   I peeled and sliced one medium large onion into about 1/8 inch thick slices, which I put in a small dish.   I started the rice, and I started the vegetables on medium high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.   I took out the heavy black cast iron 12 inch diameter frying pan, and I put in a few tablespoons of olive oil, and I set it on the large electric burner on medium high electric heat.  Once the oil was hot, I added the sliced onions, and I cooked them for about 7 minutes stirring them to separate them with a chef's fork.   I then for the last 8 minutes of the cooking cycle on medium electric burner heat or four minutes a side, I put in two of the six ounce one inch thick hamburger patties that I had made, and I seasoned the onions and hamburger patties on both sides with garlic powder and ground black pepper.   I turned the hamburgers a few times in the process of cooking and stirred the onions.   For the last two minutes, I put on a couple of tablespoons of Kikkoman soy sauce on the hamburgers, and I let it mix into the onions as it evaporated.   Once all of the food was ready, I put the vegetables in large bowl with a little bit of olive oil.   I put half of the steamed flavored rice on a dinner plate, and I put the other half in a Rubbermaid container with lid in the refrigerator.   I put the two medium cooked hamburgers on the dinner plate, and I covered them with the cooked onions.   I added a little bit of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce to the hamburgers and onions.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   As usual after my meal, I cleaned the dishes and cooking utensils.  I left the heavy cast iron frying pan on the stove top to have available for future cooking.   CIO      

Note:<888> 11/16/06 Thursday 9:10 A.M.:   I went out after the last message, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   They still have the big dump trucks to load up the dirt from the hole for the new Police and Fire station.    After my walk, I sat out for a spell.   I then drove down by the waterfront.   One of the regular fishermen from Panama City, Florida was there, and he said it is still a mess down there.    I talked about Pensacola, Florida in the old days.   I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought buy one package of ground 91% lean sirloin get one free for $6.89 both or about $2.50 a pound or a little over 2.5 pounds of ground sirloin, two bundles of fresh asparagus at $1.69 a pound for $2.89 both, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $2.99 and fresh bananas at .69 a pound for $2.07 for $14.84 total.   I then returned home.   I opened up both packages of ground sirloin, and I formed eight 5 to 6 ounce hamburger patties.   I put four in two packages of two in double zip lock bags with the air squeezed out, and I put them in the freezer.   I put the other four in a flat Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I did some bottom fishing on the internet.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/15/06 Wednesday 3:15 A.M.:  For some reason the server was messed up and would not go online.   I quickly did a Vista Complete PC backup restore, and it is backup up running again.   I keep multiple backups of the systems, so if I have any problems I can quickly restore them.  Once Vista beta 2 RC2 build 5744 expires, I can always do XP Professional Automatic System Recovery restores which is just as fast, since the server setup is not very large.   However, it turns out the www.optonline.net Optimum Boost Dynamic DNS server is down, so there is nothing wrong with my system setup.  They're probably doing system maintenance.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/12/06 Sunday 12:05 P.M.:   I filled half of a gallon Revere pot with water, and I added dashes of sea salt and a little bit of olive oil, and I brought it to a boil, and I then boiled a 16 ounce box of Ronzoni vermicelli for 8 minutes, and I strained the water off through a colander placed in another pot.   I dumped the hot water from the pot down the bathroom sink drain to clean it out.   While doing that, I took the contents of a 26 ounce jar of Ragu 7 herb tomato sauce, and  I left half of the contents back in the jar, which I put it in the refrigerator, and I put the other half in a microwave proof pot with lid, and I heated it on 1.5 vegetable cycles in the General Electric microwave oven while the vermicelli was cooking.   I put half of the cooked vermicelli in a flat Rubbermaid container with lid, and I put it in the refrigerator, and I put the other half on a dinner plate with the tomato sauce on top, and I added four tablespoons of grated parmesan, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I then washed the dishes.   I chatted with a relative.   I will put the primary computer on standby, and I will take a nap.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/12/06 Sunday 6:55 A.M.:   I broke three large eggs in a bowl, and I added a couple of tablespoons of milk, a tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese, a teaspoon of olive oil, dashes of Italian Seasoning and ground black pepper, and I whisked it all together.   I then put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a stick proof frying pan, and I heated it on medium high electric heat, once the oil became hot, I added the egg mixture, and once it began to solidify, I made a batch of soft scrambled eggs.   While doing that I also put three pieces of paper towel on a microwave proof plate, and four strips of John Morrell thick bacon and on top of that two paper towels, and I put a plate plastic microwave lid on it, and I microwaved it for 4.5 minutes.   I toasted two English muffin halves, which I put a little bit of olive oil on.    I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.    I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out.  There is suppose to be rain and fog this morning, so bring your umbrella.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/10/06 Friday 12:15 P.M.:   I went out after the last message.   I chatted with a neighbor.   I went by the Greenwich Automotive Exxon service station, and I bought $3 of premium unleaded self service gasoline at $2.739 a gallon for 34.4 miles driving this week at 15.5 miles per gallon at 15 miles per hour.   I was not able to possibly fully top up the tank, since I pulled a little bit ahead at the pump station, and the car was slightly up hill.    I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store across from the Greenwich train station, and I bought a "Money Talks" scratch card for a dollar, and I won $3 for a $2 net profit.   I noticed the regular daily commuter train coming down from Danbury, Connecticut going to Manhattan with its diesel locomotive, and they still are running the old Pullman car that says "Nelson Rockefeller".    I stopped by CVS during my walk, and I bought buy one get one free of Nature's Bounty 100 capsule bottles of 500 mcg. B-12 for $7.29 both.  Somebody asked me where Wickford Energy was at 3 Pickwick Plaza, and I told them it was the Brick Complex at the top of Greenwich Avenue and that somebody from Chicago had bought the whole brick complex for $450 million a couple of years ago.   I also mentioned that I am still worried that something might happen tomorrow on "11/11" , but hopefully not.   I completed my walk.  I sat out for a while.   I drove down by the waterfront.   I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop.   They have changed the shop layout, and it is now mostly all women's clothes.   They do not have much bric a brac anymore or furniture.   They do have some men's and children's clothes.   I think the sign said prices are currently 50% off, and they are not taking donations during the month of November.   I next went by the Stop and Shop, and I chatted with a former neighbor.   I bought two half gallons of Florida Natural orange juice with calcium for $2.69 a pound, a 1.75 quart carton of Friendly frozen coffee ice cream for $1.99, and a 1.75 quart container of Friendly frozen black raspberry ice cream for $1.99, a 5 ounce package of Cardini Caesar croutons for $1.50, 2 five packs of Kraft 7.25 ounce packages of Macaroni and cheese dinners for $2.99 a five pack, a 200 count package of Splenda sweetener for $6.99, and two 7 ounce packages of Jone's bacon flavored sausages for $2, and mostly green Chiquita bananas at .54 a pound for $1.73 for $29.56 total.   I then went returned home, and I chatted with some neighbors.   I brought up my groceries, and I put them away.   I chatted with a friend.    CIO  

Note:<888> 11/10/06 Friday 5:55 A.M.:   I reheated the cooked rice on two vegetable cycles in the General Electric microwave oven.   I also steamed for 15 minutes two cups of broccoli and baby carrots in a Revere pot with an inch of water and steamer tray and top, and I put it in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil.   I also put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a 8 inch diameter stick proof frying pan, and I heated it on medium high electric burner heat until the oil was hot, and I cooked the other salmon pattie that I had made for about 4.5 minutes a side.   I put it on a dinner plate with the reheated rice.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will shower and clean up, and I will go out for one of my usual strolls.   There is suppose to be nice weather today.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/10/06 Friday 3:45 A.M.:   I was awake at 4 P.M. yesterday by a telephone call from a relative.   I had a message from another relative traveling, so I called that relative back.   I rested until 7 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.    I chatted with a relative and two friends.   I went back to bed until midnight.   I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.   I deleted the backup files from my Maxtor External hard drive for the Northgate Syntax and the Dell L1000R computers.   I did a Vista Complete PC backup of the primary computer first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I did a Vista Complete PC backup from the server computer first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I will still have about 2 gigabytes of space left on the Maxtor external hard drive after the two backups, and it is about 93 gigabytes large.  I could always delete the 9 gigabyte Epox backup computer *.bkf file if I had to in order to create more space on it for my two Complete PC external backups.  Since my primary computer Maxtor 160 gigabyte first hard drive is two years old, although it has had a bit of less use, since it was the backup drive in the computer, I decided to order a new drive.   To work with my Complete PC backup file, I needed a drive that is over 160 gigabytes in size, and not a few gigabyte less such as the problem I had with the new Western Digital 160 gigabyte hard drive in the server.   I order a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 200GB 3.5" IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM at Newegg.com for $70.99 less .79 Preferred Account Discount less $2.99 discount for preferred account for $67.21 plus $10.99 FedEx SuperSaver shipping and $2.99 Rush Order fee for $80.22 total.  Thus since www.fedex.com delivers on Saturday, I might get it this Saturday with a little bit of luck.  I should be able to just install it where my Maxtor drive is, and restore the Complete PC backup file from the other 320 gigabyte Seagate hard drive I put in that I am using for backup purposes.  Thus both new hard drives in the primary computer will be Seagate perpendicular recording hard drives.    I could either leave the old Maxtor in the computer as another drive, or I could use it elsewhere.   Since the IDE0 slave cable is not being used in the primary computer, I will probably connect it up as an IDE0 slave secondary hard drive.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/08/06 Wednesday 10:15 A.M.:   I worked with Vista Beta 2 RC2 build 5744 http://mikelouisscott.com/visbeta.htm .   I also ate a few handfuls of dry roasted peanuts.   I decided to remove the plum pattern Aubusson rug from the kitchen.   I folded underneath a large corner of the blue wool living room rug at the apartment entrance, and I laid the plum pattern Aubusson rug at the apartment entrance running from the kitchen entrance toward the closets.   There is a slight diagonal bevel in the rug when the fold causes different heights, buts it looks a lot more formal.   I move the red throw rug into the kitchen as one walks into it.   I put SpeedFan on the server.   I am a bit tired, so I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.   I rotated the Scottish Cross of St. Andrews flag with the British Union Jack, so the British Union Jack is now in front of it at the right hallway bookcase.   On the left hallway bookcase, I rotated the Swedish flag with the Netherlands flag, so the Dutch flag is now out in front.   I noticed when I walked downtown this past evening, they have a picture in one of the shop store windows of http://mikelouisscott.com/fred.htm on a motor scooter at some hotel location, so maybe he went back into modeling.   It is the luggage shop just on the north side of Best and Company just north of the Senior and the Arts center.   For some odd reason, on my primary computer Vista beta on the television channel of the TV card, the horse channel is set up on it.   It is like some equestrian type has been beta testing my primary vista computer.   Time for bed.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/08/06 Wednesday 3:40 A.M.:   I went out after the last message, and I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   It was a quiet morning walk.   There are a few new stores and window displays on Greenwich Avenue.   I noticed in the window of Christy Nichols children's clothing shop, there is a sign advertising a Ski Condo in Stratton, Vermont for $600,000, if one needs to get away into the north country.   Stratton, Vermont was made famous by Pearl Buck who wrote on China and was from Stratton, Vermont.   I used to visit Stratton as a youth, and I returned once more recently with a friend from Vermont.  It is in southern Vermont, so it is not as cold as Northern Vermont, but it is still colder than this area.   They have an Orvis store there that teaches one how to fly cast if one is into fishing.   Of course in my youth, I once made it from Weston, Massachusetts in a blizzard driving a black Mustang convertible west on Route 2 from Concorde, Massachusetts, and I arrived in Stratton, Vermont for a party around Christmas time.   It was quite a festive group, but we actually stay in a nearby area in a bunk house with a bunch of other prep school heroes enjoying their holiday.   I drove down by the waterfront after my walk, and I noticed nobody is fishing, and on a rainy warmer evening, the fishing should be fairly good.   I noticed a car from Florida down by the waterfront, so maybe some warm weather sailor is following his boat south for the winter.   The hurricane season is not officially over until the end of November http://mikelouisscott.com/weather.htm and http://geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm , however some north sea sailors take their chances and venture down sooner, because they do not want to run into the type of north Atlantic Ocean weather as displayed in Richard Widmark's classic movie The Bedford Incident (1965) which clearly depicts how cold it can be in the north Atlantic, and it displays a American destroyer covered in ice in some of the scenes as I recall.   As I recall Richard Widmark was one of the more famous alumni of www.lfc.edu , so more than likely he knows more about the history of the college that I also attended, just south of Great Lakes Naval station and just north of Fort Sheridan.   It is definitely a bit colder out in that neck of the woods.   I once recall during my freshmen year jumping through the ice to take a quick dip in Lake Michigan, and I never did it again.   After my walk downtown, I returned home.   I then thought about my computer setup, and if the primary computer Gigabyte GA-7VT600P-RZ motherboard failed, I could use the FIC KT-600 motherboard from the server in the primary computer which is a similar motherboard with a VIA 600 bus and SATA connectors.   I then could either put the Matsonic MS8177 motherboard or the Gigabyte GA-7VT600-RZ or the FIC AN19 Via KT400A in the server all of which are Socket A.   The Gigabyte GA-7VT600-RZ does not have SATA, so I would not be able to use my SATA hard drive in the primary computer, if I tried to use it.  I believe the Matsonic has SATA, so I would be able to use it also in the primary computer.   The Epox EP-8RDA3+ motherboard in the Epox backup computer is probably my best motherboard, but when I tried to use it after returning it twice for exchange, it would not boot properly in the motherboard, possibly because of the active LAN connection, although it does work with the lesser processor in the backup computer.   However, it also has SATA, so possibly I could get it eventually working properly in the primary computer if I had to.   Since the cost of upgrading systems not only includes motherboards, but matching processors, CPU coolers, and memory, it can be expensive to do a total upgrade, so I plan to maintain the existing equipment that I already have, which is all that I need for my current computer operations.  After I returned home, I opened up a 15 ounce can of Bumble Bee Alaska King salmon, and I drained off the water, and I put it on a plate, and I picked out any bones, and then I put it in the Cuisine Art along with one large uncooked broken egg, two heaping tablespoons of Progresso Italian bread crumbs, a tablespoon of olive oil, and I seasoned it with Old Bay Seasoning, Oregano, Italian seasoning, and celery salt, and I mixed it together with the Cuisine Art, and then on a large plate I spooned out two large clumps of the mixture which I formed into about two one inch thick round patties.  I put one in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator for later, and then I put a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a 8 inch diameter frying pan on medium high electric heat, and once the oil was hot, I cooked the salmon pattie for about 4 minutes a side.  Six minutes before I started to heat the olive oil for the salmon, I started a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe which I also put in a half of a teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder and a bit of Old Bay Seasoning.   I also at the same time that I started the rice, I put in an inch of water in a Revere 2 quart pot with steamer tray, and about two cups of broccoli and baby carrots, and I steamed them on medium high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.   I put the steamed vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil, and I also put the rice and the salmon cake on a dinner plate.   I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  I put the other half of the cooked rice in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   Wall Street types like eating salmon cakes in their board rooms, but alas from what I have seen in the past, they are a bit on the small size, so my 8 ounce salmon cake is a bit filling, but they usually eat two four ounce fresh salmon cakes, so six of one half of a dozen of the other.   Also www.surpluscomputers.com  has not billed me the $15.99 yet on my bank account card for the Surplus Computers Hauppauge WinTV-GO TV tuner capture card. Note:<888> 11/07/06 Tuesday 10:50 P.M.:   I moved the light switch for the interior of the server into the lower 3.5 inch bay, where it is available to use.   I also took the lower light bar from the Epox backup computer, and I put it on the bottom interior of the server, so the server now has two light bars, and the Epox only has the upper light bar.   I threw out the shipping boxes in the dumpster for the larger jump start system.   I will now shut down the primary computer and shower and clean up and go out for a walk.  It is damp out, but it is warmer.  It is suppose to rain later on this evening.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/07/06 Tuesday 9:25 P.M.:   After I voted, I went to bed this morning.    I was awake at 4 P.M., when I had a telephone call from a relative.   I surfed the internet.  I went outside briefly, and I picked up my mail.   About 6 P.M., UPS delivered the larger of the two jumps start systems that I had ordered.   I connected it up in the bedroom with the second power cord to charge up fully for 24 hours.   The instructions say, one should charge it up at least every three months and more often in the warmer summer months.   I am also charging the smaller one a little bit more.   The instructions on the larger one says that it is good for jump starting 30 cars at 3 minute intervals.   The larger one also has a cigarette adapter socket in which there is a small light that one plugs into it, I guess for night use.   I have the light plugged into it.   The larger one also has an ON OFF switch that one leaves turned OFF, until one has connected it for a jump start.  When jump starting one puts the red positive cable on the positive battery terminal and the negative black cable  connected to a metal part of the automobile frame.   I put SpeedFan SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer on the primary computer, and I will put it on the server in a little.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made the bed.   I will now shut down the server briefly, and I will try to install the interior light switch that I have taped with electrical tape on the lower left front of the server in the spare 3.5 inch slot beneath the floppy drive, so the server looks neater.   We're still suppose to be interested in birds BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Duty to save albatross - Charles .  Also BBC NEWS | UK | England | Dorset | Chinese tour of Prince's village .   I guess his milk fund is doing better than expected.   I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note:<888> 11/06/06 Monday 9:10 P.M.:   I finished installing the second 10 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive in the Northgate Syntax backup computer, and I made a backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I made up a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Pork and Beans with franks , and I used a 11 ounce can of Campbell's Bean and Franks, and I mixed the mixture together before microwaving it on two vegetable cycles with the remaining half of the cooked rice, I made two nights ago.   Instead of McIlhenney Tabasco sauce, I used Frank's hot sauce.  Back in the winter of 1978 in Key West, Florida, a rich friend of mine use to treat me to $2 dinners of a plate of beans and rice in one of the local Cuban restaurants.   He thought the place was not very popular, since at 6 P.M. at night, there was never anyone in there.   However, traditionally the Spanish do not eat dinner until after 10 P.M. at night, so more than likely he had never been to Spain.   I will now go through my email.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/06/06 Monday 7:30 P.M.:   I was awake at 2 P.M..   I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I washed the breakfast dishes, and I made the bed.   I put one of the 20 gigabyte Maxtor hard drives from the server in the Epox backup computer as the primary hard drive, and I restored the backup from the second hard drive to the primary hard drive.   I then put the other 20 gigabyte Maxtor hard drive in the Epox backup computer, and I have it configured to run as a backup server, since the server files were on it.   I did a first hard drive backup to the second hard drive, and I did a first hard drive backup to the Maxtor external hard drive.  I installed the 20 gigabyte Seagate SCSI hard drive from the Epox backup computer as a second hard drive in the Dell L1000R computer, and I did a backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.    I still have to install the 10 gigabyte SCSI Maxtor hard drive as a second backup hard drive in the Northgate Syntax backup computer.  I threw out some garbage, and I picked up my mail.   I did a Vista Complete PC backup of the primary computer first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.   I did a XP Pro ASR backup of the server first hard drive to the Maxtor external hard drive.  I chatted with a relative.  The outgoing headset on the Panasonic two line telephone in the bathroom did not work, so I disconnected it, and I threw it away out by the back of the dumpster.   I also threw away the remains of the Purdue oven stuffer roaster chicken that I cooked last Wednesday, since I figured it was no good after five days.   I do not like to take chances with old food.  I put the black Southwestern Bell wall phone in the bathroom hooked up to Verizon, and I moved the General Electric Cordless telephone from the right side of the down sofa in the living room to the bathroom hooked up to Optimum Voice, so now the bathroom has two working telephones.   I will now install the Maxtor 10 gigabyte hard drive in the Northgate Syntax backup computer in the bedroom as a second backup hard drive, and then I will do a backup of its first hard drive to the second hard drive.   When I have time, I could also configure Vista on the server a bit, but I only have a Maxtor 80 gigabyte external hard drive, so I can not have room to do a Vista Complete PC backup of the server to the Maxtor external hard drive.    CIO     

Note:<888> 11/06/06 Monday 7:05 A.M.:   I have been busy.   I had a bit of difficulty trying to install the Western Digital 160 gigabyte drive on the primary computer.   I installed it, but basically neither Vista Complete PC Backup restore and XP ASR would not restore either backup to the Western Digital drive, because it is actually 3.61 gigabytes smaller than the Maxtor that I made the backups from, and the drive to restore to has to be larger.   I could have installed Windows on the drive, and restored the ASR backup after installing XP SP2 and activating it, but I would have lost my Vista configuration which would take time to recreate.   I finally left the Maxtor hard drive as the primary hard drive, and it should be usable for a while, until I can get a 200 gigabyte or larger hard drive.   Since I maintain good backups there is no worry about losing data with a hard drive failure, and since the Maxtor installed as the primary hard drive was my old backup hard drive, it has not been used as much as the previous primary drive.   I also moved the beige NEC 3550 DVD/R /RW drive from the server back to the primary computer, so now the server only has one black NEC 3550 DVD/R /RW drive, and the primary computer has two DVD/R /RW drives, one another type.  See http://mikelouisscott.com/computer.htm for configuration.   I then installed the Western Digital 160 gigabyte hard drive as my primary hard drive on the server.  I configured it for 132  gigabytes which is the recommended maximum from the drive setup utility.   I installed Windows XP Professional, and then I activated it, and then I installed XP SP2 from the CD, and I then restored my ASR backup from the second hard drive which included a copy of the server folder.   I then installed the Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drive that had been used as the primary hard drive on the primary computer as the second hard drive on the server for the server folder and the backups.   I then copied the server folder to the second hard drive, and then I did an XP Pro ASR backup of the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I am now installing Vista beta RC2 build 5744 on the remaining amount of the first hard drive on the server which is about 25 gigabytes.   I ate half of a 5.5 ounce tube of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips, and I also ate three scoops of Neapolitan frozen yogurt.  I also drank some iced tea.  I will do a minor configuration on Vista on the server, and then I did a Complete PC backup of it from the first hard drive to second, which did not take too long.   I am quite tired, so I will cancel my 4 P.M. appointment today, so I can sleep late and get some rest, once I go to bed.   The server is running much better with the larger faster hard drives, but I actually do not have that much content on the server, but there is room to grow.   I will now shut down the primary computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO     

Note:<888> 11/05/06 Sunday 2:55 P.M.:   I was awake at noon.   I looked at the www.staples.com store circular on the internet.   I went out, and I went over to Staples in Old Greenwich, and I bought a WD Caviar SE 160 GB EIDE Hard Drives ( WD1600JB ) or Western Digital 160GB Internal EIDE Hard Drive at Staples® for $59.98 plus $3.60 tax for $63.58 total.   I then returned home, and I chatted with a neighbor and a relative.   I then filled out the information at Staples Easy Rebates for the $10 rebate, so eventually the new hard drive will cost me $53.58.   Staples has free shipping on over $50 orders.   They had two more like it left on the store shelf in Old Greenwich.   I will now do a Vista Complete PC backup of the primary computer.   While doing that I will eat breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee. Once the Vista Complete PC backup is complete, I will removed the two Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drives that are two years old from the primary computer, and I will put them in the server eventually and restore the XP ASR backup to them after reinstalling XP Pro, so I get the larger partitions.  I will first install the Western Digital hard drive in the primary computer, so it will have two new hard drives, and I will restore the Vista Complete PC backup to it, which should not be any problem, since they are the same size hard drives on IDE0.   I will transfer the two 20 gigabyte hard drives from the server to the Epox backup computer, and I will restore the backup to it.   I will transfer the one 20 gigabyte SCSI hard drive from the Epox backup computer to the Dell L1000r computer for backups, and I will transfer the 10 gigabyte hard drive from the Epox to the Northgate for backups.   This will probably use up most of my day.   CIO

box came.   I slept until 4 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I made my bed, and I put clean linens on it,  and I washed the breakfast dishes.  I did two loads of laundry.   I showered, and I cleaned up.   I went out, and I drove over to Port Chester, New York, and I went by the ATM machine at the Bank of New York next to the BMW dealership.   I then went by Home Depot.   They are out of the Lithium Disk #2032 batteries.   I bought two 12 foot Husky Light-Duty  Tool Extension Cords 16 gauge for $6.97 each, a two pack of six outlet power strips with 6 foot cords for $4.97, two 4 packs of General Electric Crystal Clear bent tip bulbs for $1.88 each package plus $1.67 tax for $24.34 total.  I then drove back to Greenwich Avenue, and I walked upper Greenwich Avenue, and I wheeled a CVS shopping cart back to their store.   While at CVS, I bought six 5.5 ounce tubes of Pringle sour cream and onion potato chips for buy one get one free for $1.79 both for $5.37 total.    I then completed my walk of Greenwich Avenue including lower Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I noticed lots of people coming out from the movie "The Queen", and they seemed to have enjoyed it.  I sat out for a while.   I then drove down by the waterfront.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought a 16 ounce bar of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese for $3.99, two 59 ounce carafes of Tropicana premium orange juice with calcium for $3 each, a 12 ounce Stouffer's frozen Bistro sesame chicken for $2.50, a 12 ounce Stouffer's frozen Bistro Chicken Pesto $2.50, two frozen 10.5 ounce Stouffer's lasagna for $1.50 each, two 12 ounce Stouffer's frozen Chicken Parmesan for $1.50 each, two 16 ounce Stouffer's frozen stuffed peppers for $1.50 each, two 28 ounce cans of B&M Boston's Best baked beans for $1 each, two 28 ounce cans of B&M Original recipe baked beans for $1 each, two 8 ounce cans of Kraft grated parmesan for $2.99 each, a 3 pound bag of onions for $1.99, and a bulb of garlic at $1.99 a pound for .32 for $36.28 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.   I put the bent tips bulbs in the mahogany bureau in the bedroom.   I connected one of the power strips to the wall outlet inside the right hallway bookcase, and I left the power strip on the floor at that location, so one can use it there.  Now that the inspectors are gone, although they did not look at the apartments on Friday, I have put the Scottish and Swedish flags on display in the hallway.   I hooked up one of the 12 foot electrical cables to the smaller jump start system since it does not have a cable, and I will use the other one for the larger jump start system when it arrives.   I put them on the floor in front of the white bureau in the bedroom.   The Roadmaster jump start system malfunctioned possibly because I was using the wrong power adapter.   I took the new battery out of it, and I put it in the Slaymaker jump start system, which had a two year old battery.   I put the two year old battery from the Slaymaker jump start system on the floor next to the left side the side board.   I have the Slaymaker jump start system one on of the milk crates underneath the bedroom side board.   I put the bad battery back in the Roadmaster jump start system, and when I had the new battery in it charging it, the fuse also blew, but when I tried another 15 amp car fuse, it blew too, so more than likely the unit is no good.  I threw it out by the dumpster.   I put the yellow handle plastic snow brush in the back seat of the Volvo with the other snow brushes and ice scrapers.  For the last two winters I have had the Volvo, I thought it did not have heat, when one turned the heat on.   To get the heat to be warm enough to be comfortable, one has to change the outside air mix control to not let in too much cool air, and one does get enough heat to be comfortable on a cold winter's day, once the car has warmed up.  I changed the flash light on the passenger side with the driver's side flash light, since the more powerful one should be on the driver's side.   I made up a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe to which I also added a half teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder.   I also put an inch of water in a Revere pot, and I steamed 1.5 cups of broccoli and baby carrots for 15 minutes on medium high electric heat, and I put half of the rice on a dinner plate, and the other half in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I put the vegetables in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil on them.   On the dinner plate, I put a chicken leg and thigh that I cooked a few days ago along with two wings, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.  My electricity bill from www.cl-p.com for the month of October 2006 was $133, which is lower since I have not started turning on the electric heat yet.   The month average is suppose to be $166, but in the winter, the bills can easily be over $200, but I just pay the monthly average.   However, the electric rate is suppose to go up 20% to 25% in February 2007. Note:<888> 11/04/06 Saturday 9:00 A.M.:   After the last message, I finished the XP ASR backup of the first hard drive on the primary system and the Vista Complete PC backup from the first hard drive to the second hard drive.   I went outside a couple of times, and I picked up my mail.  About 2 P.M. the jump start battery and the Seagate hard drive arrived.   I installed the Seagate Hard Drive as SATA 0, and I disconnected my primary master IDE0 hard drive.   However, neither Vista Complete PC backup restore or XP ASR when I did the restores, the system would not boot off the Seagate drive.   While doing the restores, I installed the new battery in the Roadmaster Jump Start system.   I finally determined for the restores to work, they had to be restored to a Master drive on the IDE0 cable, since that is how they were backed up.  I reconnected the IDE0 master drive, and I booted it, and I did both a Vista Complete PC backup and a XP ASR backup to the Seagate drive, which I set up as a 320 gigabyte backup hard drive.   I then switched the two Maxtor 160 gigabyte hard drives around, so the Maxtor Hard drive that was only used for backups was the primary hard drive and after partitioning it and formatting it with MaxBlast, I restored the Vista Complete PC backup to the less used Maxtor hard drive.   The system works just fine.  Thus the second 160 gigabyte Maxtor drive which had been previously used as the primary hard drive has an identical copy as the other Maxtor hard drive.    I disabled it in both the CMOS and the device manager, so one can not alter it.   If one wanted to use it as a boot drive, one would have to connect it up as the Master IDE0 drive, and it would work just the same except for any changed made on the other drive in between.   Thus with the larger Seagate drive, I have ample room for backups.  If I ever changed my system configuration such as installing Vista, I could setup the Seagate as the install drive on SATA.   However, for now the current configuration is fine, and I have ample redundant backup capability.   However, I think the Vista beta will eventually expire, so I will not be able to do Complete PC backups once it expires.   Since the server, is a minimal install, there is no point in installing the other Maxtor 160 gigabyte on it as either the C: or the D: drives.  I also installed a new floppy drive in the primary computer, because possibly the old one was defective.   I had a spare.   This all took a bit of time setting up the hard drives and trying to reconfigure them.   I rested four hours this morning.  I ate a few handfuls of lightly salted dry roasted peanuts and three scoops of Neapolitan frozen yogurt.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/02/06 Thursday 7:45 P.M.:   I was up at noon today.   I surfed the internet looking for a similar motherboard to what is in my primary computer, but none are available.    I can always use one of the ones from my backup computers, if I ever need one.   The link below also seems to be a non functioning link.   I picked up my mail.   I made my bed, and I showered, and I cleaned up.   I went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then went by the Wachovia Bank on Benedict Place, and I paid my rent.   I then went to my usual 3 P.M. appointment.   I then went by Radio Shack in Cos Cob, and I returned the gold two splitter in even exchange for a Radio Shack Memory Foam Wrist Rest Mouse Pad.   I then went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue, and I picked up a prescription, and I bought two 16 ounce jars of CVS lightly salted dry roasted peanuts.   I then returned home.   I put the memory foam wrist rest mouse pad on top of my primary computer CPU where I place my mouse pad on the left side, since I am left handed.   For dinner, I put an inch of water in a Revere two quart pot with lid and steamer trade, and I steamed about two cups of broccoli and baby carrots for 15 minutes.   I put them in a bowl with a little bit of olive oil.  I also reheated the cooked rice in the Rubbermaid container left over from yesterday on one vegetable cycle of the General Electric microwave oven.   I put it on a dinner plate with a leg and thigh from the cooked chicken that I cooked yesterday, and I ate it all with a glass of iced tea.   I started up the primary computer, and it would not read my 512 meg. pen drive, so I had to reformat it and copy the backup files back to it which took some time.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/01/06 Wednesday 11:55 P.M.:  When I cooked the PERDUE Farms™ - Chicken Recipes, Tips, Products chicken, I ate one half or one side of the white breast meat.   I figure I have three more meals out of it.   One can use the giblets and gizzard and liver for soup, but I never do that.   I went out after the last message, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.   I sat out at various locations.   Midway in my walk, I used the bathroom at Starbucks.   I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought two 59 ounce carafes of Tropicana Premium orange juice with calcium for $3 each, a Turkey Hill 1.75 quart frozen Neapolitan yogurt for $1.99, a Turkey Hill 1.75 quart Gelati ice for $1.99, two 16 ounce jars of Planter's Lightly salted peanuts for $1.99, four Stop and Shop 18 ounce quick oatmeal for $1 each, a 24 ounce Vermont Maid sugar free pancake syrup for $2, fresh green bananas at .54 a pound for $1.58 for $21.54 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my purchases.   I then ordered from www.ordersmokesdirect.com seven cartons of New York Seneca Ultra Lights 100s in a box for $12.49 a carton for $87.43 plus $14.46 United States Mail Priority Mail signature required postage for $101.89 total.  I then paid my www.verizon.com bill.   All of my bills are now paid, since I paid my other bills for November in mid October.    I still have to pay my rent to the Greenwich Housing Authority.   I printed out my monthly expense report to mail to a relative, and I put it in a stamped envelope.  I will move the older Intel USB web cam from the Epox backup computer back to the Dell L1000R computer in the bedroom, where it is already configured for it.   I will put one of the new Ezonics web cams on the Epox backup computer on the living room coffee table, and I will put the other one on the Northgate Suntax backup computer in the bedroom.   I will disconnect the Andrea Electronics headset from the Toshiba laptop, and I will connect it to the Epox backup computer, and I will move the Net2Phone headset from the Epox backup computer to the Northgate Syntax backup computer.   Thus all five desktops will have headsets and web cams, and the Toshiba laptop is too slow for those items.   I will also install the Ezonics web cam drivers and software for the Ezonics web cams.   CIO

Note:<888> 11/01/06 Wednesday 7:30 P.M.:   In the Farberware convection oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, on a roasting rack in a roast pan, the 7.5 pound seasoned Purdue oven roaster chicken has its bird watcher thermometer in the breast popped up after 1 hour and 40 minutes, so I will now let it stand outside of the oven for 15 minutes before carving it.   I will pour its juices into an old jar, and I will let the fat in the juice solidify in the refrigerator until I throw them away.  The chicken is blacken with the barbeque sauce that cooked on it.   CIO  

Note:<888> 11/01/06 Wednesday 7:20 P.M.:   I worked with Vista Beta 2 RC2 build 5744 until 3 A.M..   I installed LiveMeeting on it, but I am not sure if it works or not with Vista.   I do not have a LiveMeeting Account, but some Vista presentations are in LiveMeeting.   I went to bed at 3 A.M..  I woke up at noon.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with a sliced banana, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, orange juice with vitamins and supplements, and coffee.   I made my bed, and I washed the breakfast dishes.   I showered, and I cleaned up.   I leant a neighbor a package of New York Seneca Ultra Lights 100s in a box.  I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.   I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought three small 4 inch diameter white silk shades for 50 cents each for $1.50 total.    Everything is half price in the Greenwich Hospital Thrift shop except the merchandise behind the counter.   They removed most of the bric a brac items on display.   They have a 8 foot long white silk couch for $300 half price.    They are not taking any new donations for the month of November.   I then went by Radio Shack in Cos Cob, and I bought a Gold Series 75-0hm Coax 4-Way Cable TV Splitter that is Bidirectional for cable modems for $17.99 and for $30 off a 2 web cam package of EZVideo Chat kit by Ezonics for $19.97 plus $2.28 tax for $40.24 total.   I then went by the Porricelli's Food Mart, and I bought a Purdue Oven Stuffer roaster chicken for .89 a pound for $6.66, a head of broccoli for $2.99, a 16 ounce bag of baby carrots for $1.99, and a dozen jumbo eggs for $2.29 less 5% senior discounts on Wednesday of .70 for $13.23 total.   I then returned home.   I chatted with a neighbor.   I put $5 on my MacGray laundry card, so I now have $16.65 on it.  I took the 7.5 pound Purdue oven stuffer chicken, and I opened it up, and I removed the innards package from the inside, and I threw it away.  I rinsed it off with cold water, and I dried it with a paper towel.   I put it on a poultry baking rack in a baking pan.   On the bottom, I rubbed it with a bit olive oil, and I then seasoned the bottom with garlic powder, chicken and meat seasoning, ground black pepper, and Italian seasoning and Kraft Bull Eye barbeque sauce, and then I did the same thing on the top side, but I seasoned it with Kraft Honey Hickory Smoke barbeque sauce along with the other spices.   I put it in the Farberware convection oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 2 hours and 15 minutes or whenever the bird watcher thermometer pops out of the breast of the chicken.   I have 1.5 cups of broccoli crowns and baby carrots that I put on a steamer tray in a Revere pot with lid with an inch of water that I will steam over medium high electric burner heat for 15 minutes.   I also have a batch of Michael Louis Scott's Microwave Oven Rice Recipe that I have set to cook for the same 16 minute period, half of which I will eat and half of which I will put in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.   I will have to let the chicken stand in its baking rack and pan outside of the oven for 15 minutes after it is cooked to let its internal juices even out in the bird.   I will eat dinner with a glass of ice tea.  I will put the remaining part of the chicken on a dinner plate in the refrigerator with a plastic garbage bag tide around it.   I will probably eat three 3/8th inch thick slices of breast meat or a little more.   While the bird was cooking I hooked up the four way gold bidirectional gold splitter to the cable junction between both laser printers on the printer stand between the server and the primary computer.   I have a third cable hooked to it for the Hauppauge TV card when it arrives for the server.   One will be able to use the second right monitor for the TV viewing.   I normally leave that off, so as not to use too much electricity.   I can return the Gold two way bidirectional splitter to Radio Shack for a $9.99 refund plus tax.   I will hook up the two Ezonics web cams to the two backup computers in the bedroom, and I will take the Andrea Electronics headset off the Toshiba laptop, and I will hook it up to the Northgate backup computer, so both bedroom computers have headsets.   CIO
