This past year has been a busy one. I did make it into Manhattan once in February for a Microsoft conference, and I got to see the newly decorated Grand Central Station. I also had two 2 week vacations with family in Kennebunkport, Maine, and it was enjoyable to be back up by the ocean in Maine. They had 11 feet of snow last winter. In Greenwich, we only had eight inches of snow. I have kept busy on personal computers and the internet. My relatives gave me a 10 year old Audi A6 in mint condition with 60,000 miles, so I look quite sporty driving around town. I still exercise walk downtown, and I have seen a lot of new visitors this past year. However, when the prices of fuel were higher earlier in the year, I did not go downtown as much. It seems we are pretty much back to normal in Greenwich despite the worsening economic times, and thrifty Yankees still manage to survive. Since I spend so much time on the internet, I tend not to have much free time for other activities like exercise walking around Tod’s Point. However, after 20 years of personal computers and the internet, I have become quite professional at it, although it never lead to a job in the real world work place. I also spend quite a bit of time maintaining my simple apartment, and it tends to be a professional working home office environment. I had friends visit me on Easter, and I had family visit me coming and going to Kennebunkport, Maine this summer. Frequently, I am still on a night time schedule about 70% of the time, but I do get out in the daytime occasionally to enjoy a little bit of sunlight. When I have free time, I try to make it to the Greenwich Library to read some of their periodical literature. I only drove about 2,500 miles this past year with two round trips to Kennebunkport, so I am keeping my driving expenses down. I still weigh 215 pounds, so my goal is to lose 30 pounds, sooner or later. Since I can buy most everything I need off the internet, I do not go to the local thrift shops as much anymore. With all of the boutique shops on Greenwich Avenue, I find myself browsing CVS more and more often. Also when the fuel prices went up, I quit driving down by the waterfront on a regular basis. My relatives around the country are doing well and prospering, but we all have to cut back a bit with the economic reversals. The younger generation seems to be so involved in high technology that we do not see much of them in the general public anymore. I continue to enjoy good health, and I still seem to have plenty of time to get plenty of rest. I suppose since I speed read off the internet, I tend to talk too fast in the general public which confuses people, but I feel like I am getting my work done with all of the resources that I have available. I am expecting another mild winter this winter.
