12/31/19 Tuesday 4:30 P.M. I went outside about four times. I moved the Westinghouse TV with the line in it in the bathroom to the left underneath side of the bed. I moved the 32 inch Haier television from the bedroom desk to the bathroom. I took the Dell Dimension 2610 computer and the Dell Optiplex 740 computer from underneath the bedroom desk, and I removed their SSD drives, and I put in regular SATA drives that I did low level formats on. I also cleared the passwords on them, and I have both of them in the back of my car to donate to any charity. I finished reinstalling the operating systems on the Apple 2007 Mac Mini and the Apple 2008 MacBook, and they both are a bit faster since they have SSD drives in them. I will also donate them. I cleared off the extra wireless keyboards and wireless mice and headsets from the bedroom desk. I put the extra wireless keyboards and wireless mice underneath the front center of the bed in a plastic bag. I moved the extra headsets to underneath the left side of the bedroom desk. I moved the three spare 20 inch monitors to underneath the right side of the bedroom desk. I also removed a lot of cables from the bedroom desk location, and I stored them in my cable bag underneath the oak dining table. I moved the first Apple 2013 Imac from the right side of the oak dining table to the bedroom desk with two laser printers hooked up to it. It works off the bedroom desk Netswitch. I also put the Gateway 17 inch laptop with its two underneath cooler fans on the bedroom desk. Both items have headsets. I picked up the mail. From what I know it was about that in the old days. I know there is supposed to be a big fall out shelter bunker underneath Stapleton Airport in Denver, Colorado. Also in our media here, they tell us that the www.norad.mil Cheyenne Mountain facility was turned into a Cold Storage facility over 15 years ago, so I do not know what other new facilities might have replaced it. There was supposed to be a backup facility for Cheyenne Mountain up in the mountains of Northeast Vermont, but I am not sure where. Maybe the Chinese knew where, because five years ago; they were buying up Jay Peak, Vermont for some odd reason. Both Toronto and Montreal up in Canada have over twenty miles of underground streets, so they might have other facilities deeper in the ground. I just know how to run home computers which are like church computers, I am not briefed on any current military affairs for over twenty to thirty years except a lot of pictures of new defense ships that I have seen in that period. I then drove to the Junior Chamber of Commerce Park across the street from www.cvs.com , and I ate one third of the baguette. I toured CVS a couple of times, and I chatted with a Starbucks regular there. I used the ATM machine at the www.chase.com bank at the top of Greenwich Avenue. I used the bathroom at CVS a couple of times. I finally bought two 7 ounce Nestlé's Tasters Choice French Roast instant coffee for $6.99 each for $13.98 total. I then ate another third of the baguette across the street from CVS. I then drove down to the Board of Education parking lot. I ate the final third of a baguette there. I used the bathroom at www.starbucks.com . I bought a grande peak coffee with Splenda and almond milk for $2.63 off my Starbucks card. I sat outside chatting some more with the Starbucks regular. I then used the bathroom at Starbucks. I then returned home. I sat outside. I picked up the mail. I put the two cypress plants on the white wicker breakfast stand on the living room window sill, and I will get rid of the Amarillo plant that is gone and one of the jade plants that is gone, and I put the one aloe plant on the white wicker stand with another one to its right. Good news on the Apple Mac Mini late 2012 on the primary work computer setup, I was able to export my contacts and email addresses in Outlook 365 to a Apple Outlook data file which I was able to import into the Apple Macbook Pro Outlook 365 program, so they are now all of my contacts and email addresses are displayed and available. I will now go outside again. I will then shower and clean up, and I will go downtown to see the remains of the day. CIO

Earlier, I took the Chippendale reproduction chair from the small computer desk with the Apple 2013 Imac and the Apple 2012 Macbook, and I put it in front of the sweater closet in the hallway. I took out the folding mahogany chair made in Viet Nam, and I moved it to the small computer desk, so it is easier to work there. The only problem with the sweater closet blocked is that I have to move the Chippendale reproduction chair every day to get out my turtle necks and my boxer shorts and other clothing. The Time Machine backup on the 2012 is almost done. CIO
12/20/19 Friday 10:35 P.M.. I chatted with a friend. I went outside a couple of times, and once I drank an instant coffee. I have the 2012 Macbook all configured with the Catalina operating system, and it runs just fine. With Time Machine, I was able to restore my apps from another Catalina installation. The only problem is that I can not get Outlook to display the imported contacts in its address book. There is a way to do it in Windows, but no mention how to do it in Apple. I am now doing a Time Machine backup of it to a SATA drive in an external SATA drive holder. It will take another half hour. I will now go outside again.

I read in the www.lfc.edu alumni magazine about ten years ago that as a graduate of Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, I am entitled to be a member of the https://www.universityclubny.org/ , but I probably could not afford it. My father Louis Dale Scott was a member of the https://www.unionleagueclub.org/ which I visited a number of times when younger. I think the last time I was there was a Taft School alumni dinner in the winter of 1974, when I was 20 years younger than anyone else there except for on hippie slightly older than myself. I recall sitting next to a lady from Riverside in Greenwich who complained all night about the smoke from the Cos Cob power plant polluting her neighborhood like I was some sort of Railroad Tycoon. That dinner only cost me about $20. I wandered why none of the younger generation my age were not there. CIO

Corral, or where ever it is you think I live in this neck of the woods. The Big City Slickers only like seeing people from the Suburbs with money as if we do not do anything out here, when they walk around like they own the whole town, when they come out on the train for a breath of fresh air in the country. Alas nobody communicates with me from the Big Apple, so I guess I am yesterday's news. I guess the higher paid younger generation have a bit more extra money than my generation, so they are pursuing more lavish activities than just walking around in circles which is what a lot of New York City people on low income seem to do. I guess this time of year, they can enjoy the light shows on Fifth Avenue, but from what I recall there is a bathroom in the basement of Rockefeller Center. I was also advised that Saks Fifth Avenue across the street now has cafe bars for refreshment. I could never afford to go to Department Store, when I lived in Manhattan; but when walking around Third Avenue, I would walk through one Bloomingdales' entrance and out the other of it north of it to warm up for a few brief minutes. I recall part of the men's department was there selling various men's silk ties which nobody seems to wear anymore. My basic outfit in Manhattan in my day in the early 1970s was corduroy pants with top siders and an Oxford Shirt with a Bermuda Trimminghams sweater and a grey tweed jacket, so I was not exactly on the glamour list, but at least respectable looking from my perspective. In the early 1980s I would wear a Brook Brothers suit with vest and Oxford shirt and Florsheim shoes. I do not think I ever owned a winter coat in Manhattan after my black tweed Brooks Brothers overcoat was taken at a Upper East Side Christmas party in October 1973. I think about the time, I moved out of Manhattan in February 1982, when it was minus 26 degrees Fahrenheit below zero, I have bough a $5 Navy and Light Blue parka from a street vendor near the Natural History museum. It was not very heavy though. I will now go outside again. CIO

12/16/19 Monday 4:15 A.M.. I went out after the last note. I drove down by the waterfront on Steamboat Road. It all seems perfectly normal down by the waterfront on a cold winter's night. I then drove around downtown a bit to charge up my car battery. I went by the ATM machine at the Peoples Bank at bottom of Greenwich Avenue. I then went by the ATM machine at the www.chase.com bank at Deerfield Place. I then drove around downtown a bit more. I then sat out for a while at the Board of Education parking lot. I then drove around town a bit more. I then went by the Putnam Shell at 401 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought a 6 ounce bottle of STP high mileage fuel injector cleaner for $8.99 and .57 tax for $9.56 total. I then put it in my gasoline tank. I then filled up the fuel tank with $8 of self service premium V-Power gasoline at $3.599 a gallon for 2.224 gallons at odometer reading of 119927 miles for 32.5 miles driven since Wednesday December 11, 2019 for 14.614 miles per gallon in local traffic. That is a poor man's tuneup. I then returned home, and I drank an instant coffee outside. I then filed this report. So much for Siberia Sam's Social Club or the Freezing Norwegian Patrol. CIO

I then went to the Stop and Shop at 161 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought 26, 12 ounce Dixie Cups with lids for $6.99, two packages of 8 hotdog rolls for $1.50 and $2.50 and 4 buy one get one free of Oscar Mayer jumbo hotdogs for $4.19 each two and .44 tax for $19.81 total. I chatted with a local night person. Alas Fred had a budget for the Mouse Palace which I do not have for the Mouse Palace East based on my limited income which I stretch by cutting back on my food budget. There is no point in eating expensive food, since it just goes down the toilet. As I recall, Fred only took me to Barbara Rockefeller's lavish town house on East 67th Street three times, and the first time was on Christmas Eve 1973 which I went with a couple of the Donahue girls from Manhattan and Greenwich. It works just fine. I setup the 20 inch Seiki television on the hamper in the bedroom, but although it works, it does not display the bedroom cable box. I will now go outside again. 12/12/19 Thursday 4:40 P.M.. I almost had a disaster. I tried using the little plastic pry tool for removing the glass on the 2013 Imac. From the lower right corner with just a little pressure, the glass got a 1.5 inch hair line crack, so I quit doing it, and I repaired it with Gorilla tape. It is still fine and hardly noticeable. Thus the procedure for removing the glass is a little bit more complicated than on the video. I will now go outside. CIO

I chatted with a member of the www.morgan.com family from Everett, Massachusetts who was cold. I bought a Panini roll for a $1.50. I then went to www.cvs.com on Greenwich Avenue. 12/08/19 Sunday 1:35 A.M.. The Apple 2013 Imac is all setup and configured, and it is working just fine. What is difficult for me, after working with my 43 inch monitor, it is a bit harder to read, but it is fully configured with the new Logitech wireless MK570 wireless keyboard and mouse and a very good USB headset. There should be no complaints from the Ghost in the Machine. I threw out its shipping box, and I also threw out the Hisense 43 inch 4K Smart TV box and the Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse box. I went outside a couple of times. I moved the 2007 Imac to behind the Westinghouse TV in the Northwest corner of the bedroom. It is only worth about a $100 if that, but it is set to be sold or given away with a new install of Snow Leopard operating system in English with country not selected yet. It cost me $87 about 2 years ago, and I put in a $30 240 GB SSD drive, and I never used it too much; so it is basically a good slower machine. I have a Time Machine backup of it configured with El Capitan. I will now go outside, and I will drink a cup of instant coffee.

12/06/19 Friday 12:50 A.M.. On the defective non display Apple Mac Mini late 2012, I removed the logic board, and the EFI chip is on the bottom side next to the CMOS battery. However, it is firmly soldered in and much to small to try to replace. I put the whole unit back together again with a 120 GB low level format SSD drive in it, and I get the extra bottom for it from Oregon this Saturday. On other Apple models, they have devices that can reflash the EFI chip, so when I have time, I will check with one of our local tech people to see if they have such a device for that device. I went outside, and I drank a cup of instant coffee. With the parking meters downtown as of the first of the year not accepting the parking cards, hopefully they will still take quarters. I put a roll of quarters in between to seats to have available. I can pay for the meters with my cell phone, but that is sort of complicated. CIO

I booted the System Restore, and I reformatted the SSD drive with Disk Utility, and now that the internet is working, I am trying to install El Capitan from the Apple online download to have a new install on it. 12/05/19 Thursday 6:50 A.M.. I threw out the Halloween lights in the recycle dumpster. On the 2007 Imac with 4 GB of memory and a 240 SSD drive, I tried a new install of El Capitan from a USB pen drive, but it would not install. I am now trying it from a download install. If it does not install, I will put Snow Leopard on it from a DVD. This morning I will see if Christ Church Neighbor to Neighbor wants it. I bought it a couple of years ago for $84, and I put in a new $20 SSD drive in it, so it is worth $50 to $100. It does work, and there is nothing wrong with it, it is just an older model. I will put the used 2013 Imac with Catalina in it place to the left of the primary work computer. The internet quck working, so I am delayed. CIO
